Shadows swirling about his form as he stepped forward onto the sturdy roof of the Sunagakurian domicile that he'd taken for his temporary residence, Kageoni closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the cold desert air. It was strange how much he missed such a dangerous and onerous land. It had been so many years since he'd been here, so long that it was almost certain that no one could possibly remember him but that was for the best, really. It made moving from place to place within the shadows of the city much easier without each and every eye recognizing him. Raising his arms into the air with his fingers outstretched to the naked stars in the sky above, Kageoni allowed the voluminous sleeves of his shade-like black robes to roll backwards revealing his porcelain-white skin which contrasted heavily against the darkness of his chosen attire... and he sang.
The notes and words to the song that he sung were melodious and beautiful... but also entirely alien. The sounds that he made were strange in a way that made it almost impossible to believe that such queer but rapturous noise could be made by the body of a human being and all around him a chorus of buzzing and whirring filled the air to complement the otherworldly nature of the song that fell out across the rooftop and streets of Sunagakure as the tenebrous space within his robes swelled disgorged a writhing mass of clicking and humming creatures with physical forms that shifted like living shadows. Pausing his own song and allowing the melodious hum of the roiling mass of what seemed like shadow-like insects which had appeared from the depths of his attire, Kageoni let his arms fall slightly as he looked with the gentleness of a father upon the swirling swarm that surged around his presence in the wind.
"ចូរទៅកូនរបស់ខ្ញុំ." He told them in the same bizarre language that he used to speak with his subordinates on occasion, his voice tender beneath the cacophony being made by the horde of alien creatures he'd seemingly conjured. "ស្វែងរកទីក្រុងនេះនិងស្វែងរកអ្វីដែលពួកគេបានយកពីខ្ញុំ."
Raising his arms once more, Kageoni tilted his head backwards and the throng of buzzing shadows dispersed into a million directions, crawling over the city like the spread of oil being thrown across a vibrant canvas and for each inch they covered information flooded into the mind's eye of Kageoni's consciousness. He could feel and see and smell and taste everything that the shadow touched. Every space they explored and every sight they witnessed became his own. Like a beast with a million-million eyes and ears, Kageoni's presence merged with the beating heart of the city of Sunagakure and with a deep breath he reveled in the feeling.
"If you are here, I will find you and punish those responsible." He whispered to the air around him, a smile crawling across his perfect features as his arms fell to his side and he turned to retreat back to the inside of the building which was serving as their makeshift hide-out.
