It slowly started to set in while he briskly walked with purpose in the direction of the main police station of Iwa. By the time he got there his pace had slowed to a walk. Having the revelation was great and he found a few on duty already who were working the case and proposed his theory. They were excited at first as well until he added his afterthoughts that burst their bubble of enthusiasm as quickly as it did his. Just because he knew what kind of person he was looking for it didn’t mean he had an idea of who or where they were, in the village find one person in the space inside a closet plotting away or even in a warehouse made it a truly daunting task. Like finding a black grain of sand in the dessert it would be more hours of doing research and investigation with little hope of a quick discovery.
Kamaru sent a memorandum out to the ANBU Sennin and carbon copied the people within the branch that had requested details on the bombing several weeks back. Although they had nothing really in the form of details Kamaru figured the courtesy would at least put caution or heighten the awareness of security promise of an immediate disclosure of information as it was verified didn’t seem like much. For the most part it seemed mostly like Kamaru stating someone ‘might’ break into a hidden prison facility which seemed silly since that was something they’d probably be constantly preparing for. He was surprised to get a message back to look into rentals for space over the past two years and isolate the scope of them down to ones without heavy traffic. It made sense Kamaru felt they had upgraded to finding a needle in a haystack. He let the people currently working the case the proposal and had the team get started working on the angle.
Several days went by with very little luck in finding the ‘needle’and things looked crime until someone showed in a lady. Dressed in a no nonsense business attire she set down a briefcase in front of her. She dropped a bombshell on Kamaru when she simply stated, ”My client thinks their leaser might be doing illegal activities out of his building. I’d like you to look into it and get them out if possible.” Kamaru put down his cup of coffee since she had his full attention after her statement.
Fujimaki Ikuko was representing a landlord who had been repeatedly been paid on time by their tenant in cash. But lately the pattern of payment had changed. Having gones from a few days late to paying occasional to just not paying for the last four months meant the owner had had enough. Trying to evict them got him beaten when he got close to the property to notify them. Taking legal actions had seemed complicated for Ms. Fujimaki so she had come to see if the local civil services could do anything about it. With the details in mind Kamaru immediately thought of illegal activities on the premises. After getting a bit more detail from her and some contact information for her and the landlord Kamaru stated he’d see what he could do.
Was this his break in his case to find someone planning a jail break? It probably was not but it was part of the job as a whole to preserve the peace, also it might jog something that hadn’t thought of yet since they were up against a lot of research and investigation. Kamaru was slowly getting the impression Iwa Village was just some holes in the side of a cliff but an entire city connected geographically to the countries capital.
Kamaru waited in position when he heard that everyone was ready he gave a signal. Oddly enough with the amount of paperwork investigation Kamaru had the department doing he had a large amount of volunteers to do something different, physical, and possibly violent. Seeing doors pulled out in their entirety or busted in by anything from a summoned elemental creation to some one’s fist happened from every single door entry at once. They had expected some to panic and try and escape or attack. Kamaru took in the scenery in an instant. Barking out orders for those staying to clean up those attacking to defend themselves or surrender was easy enough. The one’s running by jumping out windows and such were the issue for Kamaru. Calling out Kamaru raced after the first one out the window when they entered. Others would be dealing with those left behind. It didn’t stop Kamaru from taking out anyone aggressive on his path to the window and diving out behind his quarry Kamaru thought it odd it felt nostalgic.
Time doing investigation and managing others meant pulling himself out of the field, and when he was in the field it usually had been involved in teaching kids the basics of the shinobi arts. He figured he still had it since he had almost caught up with the guy he had been chasing without thinking much about it. He had dodged attacks and zeroed in on the guy every time he gave him the slip. As the man slammed through the window of another warehouse Kamaru dove in after him and grabbed him finally. Not even having enough time to actually surrender before he was knocked out. Kamaru was about to apologize for the window to the people around him when someone screamed out to scatter.
Kamaru blinked while looking around his environment crystalizing around him. Routes and plans littered the walls, photos, sketches, and designs were littered about and several people where running away from him towards doors. Actually they seemed kind of slow. Kamaru dropped the unconscious man and counted moving to the one farthest away getting between them and the door. Kamaru first darted towards the man when he fell to the floor. Was someone else taking them out. Realization of the sound the man made Kamaru figured out what was going on. The man had fainted. Moving to the next one almost able to escape Kamaru realized he quickly outpaced the man before he reached the door. He was trying to say something but stopped suddenly and bent over gasping for hair. Motioning with his hands for a time out Kamaru just shook his head and looked around at the others, no one else had made it to an exit. Knocking the guy out once he got his breathing under control he looked at the other three females. One had fallen over several time in her escape, another opted to just hide under a table. The final one had managed to drop her glasses and was looking for them. When she finally found them she looked around to see the others tied up and sitting in chairs.
”Sit.” Kamaru ordered causing the girl to kneel suddenly looking away. Kamaru radioed in checking on the initial guy he had come to capture.
”Namamoto. I found the needle. Come to my location once people finish up there.” he declared over his headpiece. A few hours later people were looking around and sketching out how things were set up before taking them into evidence. Kamaru looked at the additional round up and thought about how easily he had detained them. He probably could have had a confident Academy Student catch them meaning they were severely outclassed to break people out of the ANBU secret prison areas… Kamaru realized that meant they were probably incredibly smart than.
”Which one of you is in charge?” Kamaru asked in a flat tone.
The girl who had stopped trying to escape to find her glasses timidly raised a hand. In a labcoat, plaid shorts, blouse, thick glasses and boots she didn’t really look like the evil mastermind type. Kamaru sighed and rubbed his eyes. This was going to be a long day.
