Jian Oreachi / Jian
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Physical Description:: This tall thin-looking young man stands at an impressive 5'9 and has not yet filled in to his growing height. Not quite beanpole, Jian looks like he keeps his body in fine shape, sporting an athletic frame, at least what's there. His hair is messy, long and black. You get the sense maybe he doesn't really notice it much. His body is a mess of scars but many are healed or in the process of healing. His eyes are a light green colour, but they have a distant look whenever they are shown, a symptom of his blindness. His nose is short and pointed.
He is often dressed casually, often with mismatched or odd colour choices but ones which have an oddly aesthetically pleasing combination. A lot of bright floral colors and soft pastels, flowing and light. Although nowadays he wears his uniform formally with little flair.
Mental Description:: Bold, outspoken, kind-hearted and brave. Jian is not an imposing figure, he isn't aggressive or hostile but he is competitive. There is a drive that he has to be the best, to be noticed to be impressive. Ever since he was injured he realized how fragile and how quickly someone can lose something important to them, and so he is determined to be strong enough not to lose anything important ever again. This drive is a double-edged sword, while it keeps him going it means he doesn't suffer failure well. While he is a good sport in friendly competitions, the fear of losing something important to him is a hard trial to face. Thank goodness nobody in the ninja world ever gets hurt.
Having aged out of his classes he doesn't have many friends but is still a relatively outgoing and friendly person. He's quick to make jokes and usually tries to defuse tension with a good nature.
History: Jian was born to a loving albeit small family. The only child, his mother was a ninja within the leaf village and his father was a smith. Jian enjoyed a peaceful upbringing and entered into the academy when he showed potential. He was a diligent student. Always eager and friendly. he was playful and while hardworking was prone to distraction and his attention was scarcely ever fully committed anywhere. It wasn't carelessness necessarily, but a simple joy for experience.
He continued this way, approaching the rank of Genin until an unfortunate family outing took a turn for the tragic. He was nearly killed after a traumatic fall. His parents were able to save his life and return him to the village but at a terrible cost, a lengthy several months-long stay in recovery and Jian was rendered unable to see. He was heartbroken, not only for the loss of vision but because of the guilt he knew he had caused his loved ones who blamed themselves for the pain he endured, and most painful for Jian to realize, the loss of his potential. And, of course, the recovery delayed his progression to the academy. Despite the setback, he remained determined and decided that he would return and become a star pupil, that he would turn this into an opportunity of some kind.
In the years to follow, as Jian's body began to repair itself, he learned to look within for answers and honed his remaining senses to make up for his vision. He worked on a new sense by combining his others to take the place his eyes once held. His carefree nature while apparent to others on the surface gave way to a determination born of his fear. Knowing how quickly precious things can be taken means finding the strength to hold on to them. Feeling guilt over his own injury, Jian worked until he found himself approved back into the academy and that is where he finds himself today.
