Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Background Information:
Benjiro is a veteran ninja and diplomat for the Earth Country. In his elder years, this first-class swordsman has shifted to winning wars with wisdom and sound diplomacy and travels regularly to foreign nations. He lives in a modest home in the busiest part of the village, with his newest girlfriend Yuri, and his adopted son, Jomei. As a diplomat, Benjiro is a constant traveler and enjoys wandering the world at the whim of the village council. His girlfriends always travel with him, but they come and go as they grow tired of his nomadic lifestyle. Right now, Yuri is making his house feel like home as Benjiro has returned from almost a year at the Kirigakure ice cap. His son Jomei has made him proud by becoming an independent young shinobi. Benjiro counts on his prodigy of a son to maintain his estate while he is traveling abroad.

Personality:
Benjiro is a diverse ninja who is sturdily built, but flexible in conversation. He believes in tradition, relies on his wit, and is clever in his ways. He is the type of man to think deeply and act honorably. He is a judgmental and preachy man when fathering his son, and is quite strict when he is available. Benjiro also holds himself to a high standard of success, and rarely rests from diplomatic assignments. In his old age, Benjiro is one of the Hidden Stone's resourceful connections to other nations. Other veteran ninja know and respect him as someone capable of mediating just about any situation. He is quite proud of his service and maintains himself in the highest regulation standards as an expert negotiator and intelligence operative.
In conversation, Benjiro is often philosophical about the tragedies of love and war and will melt his stern exterior to discuss the heat of desire on a moment's notice. He often badgers his son to find a wife so that he can provide a dowry while his money was good, and he could still work. When it comes to love and romance, Benjiro was once deeply in love and married a local girl, but had his heartbroken when she passed away and has dated boring, temporary lovers for years since she died. Every time he returns from another trip to another nation, he returns with a new girlfriend. They are souvenirs who do the laundry.

Nindo
"A life without a purpose is a wasted one."

Physical Description:
Benjiro is a medium-height, senior citizen making a graceful climb into old age. He is in notable shape and poses exceptional reaction times for a ninja his age. His hair is neatly tied at the back of his crown, and his hairline has receded moderately. Crows feet run identically down both sides of his cheeks, and his nose hooks slightly like a bird's beak. His body is typically assisted by a walking stick, which can infamously shed its cover and become a pristine katana.

Clothing & Style:
Benjiro never fails to dress in traditional mariushi wardrobe, but wears a royal blue color scheme to commemorate his years of service to the middle lands. Though he usually carries a cane or walking stick of some kind, Benjiro does not bare a sword for formal events unless it is his formal katana and scabbard.

Character History in Detail
Benjiro was born into a small band of traveling merchants who regularly traveled from the Maruishi mountain land to the Eastern Coast of the Continent, and the expanses of the water country. Trade was and still remains a booming business in these regions today. But the Matsui family took in a large profit by gaining traction in the region, and eventually partnered with the Hidden Stone Village as masterminds behind building their untapped trade industry. As a result, the Matsui became acknowledged as an elite family, and Benjiro was enrolled in the Ninja Academy as their first donation to the Stone. In the following years, Benjiro progressed into a fine ninja, offered only the best training and most hardening missions. Excellent mentoring and counseling kept him healthy, physically and mentally as he progressed into a renowned ninja.

As times progressed in the Hidden Stone, and the Matsui wealth reached a cap, and they received the wrong kind of attention for all the power they were accruing. They approached the dawn of capitalism and were stripped down in the night by the assassins of their village. Were the Matsui power-hungry? Who's to know. But wealth was difficult to horde in these days, as the law couldn't protect you from being taken down a peg. Quite systematically, the heads of the Matsui family disappeared or took on new, reduced positions within the Stone village. At the time of the forced change, Benjiro was out of the country, in the Hidden Mist having peace talks and securing trade security with the Mist Council of that era. Efforts to snub the Matsui out of existence extended to an assassination attempt on Benjiro; where the same attackers attempting to spoil peace efforts in the council meeting simultaneously. Benjiro and the council were able to fend off the attackers, and Benjiro temporarily defected to the Hidden Mist until the Assassination Mysteries were solved, and his own name was cleared back at the Hidden Stone. It took nearly a decade of effort to clear his name and expose those responsible for uprooting the Matsui family, but the damage had already been done. They were a small family, to begin with. Eventually, Benjiro returned to his home nation, but his homecoming was spoiled and his status was reduced to nothing but a commoner. The village council took responsibility and placed Benjiro in a cushy position as a Diplomat with international ties, where he'd be able to reattain his family's status in time. He was merely in his early 20's at the time, but he was a made man if he could keep clean.

Around the time of his 30's, Benjiro had was reaping the benefits of his assignment, and had become a wealthy Diplomat for the Hidden Stone. He was a prominent figure in keeping peace along the middle lands between the Earth, Fire, and Water lands, and promoted years of prosperity and open trade lanes. In order to keep this peace, he had to stay on the road and was assigned a younger ANBU to be his security, and a bright and beautiful kunoichi named Khanna. His relationship with Khanna inspired a greater humanitarian effort from Benjiro, and he increased efforts to condemn human trafficking among the ninja villages. They were something like a power couple and attempted to create an international unit of Rangers. During one of this organization's initial efforts, Khanna was a casualty during a failed operation and died on the battlefield. Benjiro continued the operation for years in her honor, until he eventually took on a commander post and resumed his political endeavors.

In the last decade, Benjiro has become heavily involved in the politics of the Middle Lands, as trade has declined due to civil uprising in the fire nation, and an environmental shift in the water country. Trade has been devastated and the routes have been dangerous for travelers, making Benjiro a busy man in the last few years. Along the way, roving members of his task force found a boy while clearing out one of the Trafficking hubs where slaving was still in practice. Children and adults alike were abducted from the water nation and being used to cultivate rice fields in the earth country low lands. Benjiro had discovered that this was only possible due to his efforts to open the trade routes over the years and took personal accountability for the incident. He adopted the slave child, which was an incredibly bright servant named Jomei. Benjiro could see his potential in an instant, and his papers revealed the history of Jomei's parents and origin. Unfortunately, that information was never collected and was lost within the flames that engulfed the property. In the years since Jomei's adoption, the foster father and son have developed a distant and estranged relationship, more like a master and apprenticeship.

Most recently, Benjiro has been heavily involved in efforts to develop a coalition and resources for ending the eternal winter in Kirigakure. As a diplomat from the Hidden Stone, he has been a critical player in restoring the needed trade routes to return resources and food to the water country. Along with his current girlfriend and assistant Yuri, Benjiro has been holed up in an office in the water nation, and Jomei has been left to manage his estate. Upon getting a risky cold and cough he can't shake, Benjiro has returned to Iwagakure for the winter season as Kirigakure has become a death trap until spring. He has come home and is trying to restore his place as a dependable, guiding figure in his son's life.

Koyanagi Emi
dNPC Profile

Name: Koyanagi Emi
Age: Over 170 Years
Height: 213.36cm / 7’2ft.
Weight: 246lbs / 111.584
Gender: Female
Alias: Madame Web / The Brood Mother
Profession: Hachihashi High Council of Eight
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Family: Ukyo Koyanagi, Hachihashi Society, Jomei Matsui

Background Information:
Known only in dying legends as Madame Web, Emi Koyanagi is the sole heir and master of arachnid society hidden beneath Kirigakure, in web-laden burrows. In the time of the Hidden Mist, she served as a rather talented medical shinobi until her evolution as a hachihashi began to manifest, which caused her to seek out the safety of the sea caverns underground. Her unique abilities include the power to enslave arachnids into a hive-mind trap, which she has used to develop an empire over the last two-hundred years.

Physical Appearance:
While Emi Koyanagi may resemble a human being at first glance, she has long since evolved beyond the limited bipedal form that is key feature of mortal men. As a being with the Hachihashi gene, Emi has developed arachnid traits, but as a chosen disciple of the Hachihashi name, Emi has even evolved past the transformations seen in her spider-blooded brethren. Her differences begin with her skeletal frame and size, which towers over most human beings. She is a frail, feminine figure with scaly pale skin, and not an ounce of fat to be found. Eight, soul-piercing eyes function in unison, and are aligned from the crown of her head to the ridge of her thin nose. Her bloody-red eyes look upon those who wander into her cave with a vindictive stare, and her usual response is to unleash her long, winding tongue, which boasts enough power to spear through her prey and cause fatal wounds. Emi is a unique specimen, who presents herself proudly to those who have managed to make it all the way to her parlor, and encourages her prey to enjoy her beauty before they die, but their fear is their fear before death is the real treat. Her upper body is bare, and long, curly blonde hair flows from her crown down her shoulders and back. This hair serves as a critical censorship for her uncovered breasts, but doesn’t take away from her lack of arms, in the traditional sense. Emi’s shoulder’s simply lead to fleshy nubs, but her body makes up for it with the special evolution hidden beneath a long dress that covers her midriff and beyond. Her abdomen and lower extremities have transformed into an arachnid thorax and eight elongated arms with fully-functional hands. These appendages manage all of her movements with ease, from mere walking, to managing an assortment of weaponry with utter expertise. However, the greatest benefit of her evolution has been the regenerative properties of the Hachihashi, which have a thricefold effectiveness compared to her brethren. She is the broodmother of her clan, endowed with genes necessary to ensure the survival of her species, and has an incredible lifespan that has yet to show any signs of letting her down.

Clothing & Style:
As the broodmother, Emi is a grande individual who lives a comfortable lifestyle within the confines of her palace, which is actually a large burrow that has been modeled into a temple by countless spiders who do her bidding. Given human beings rarely reach her palace with their lives in tact, she has long since abandoned traditional wardrobe concepts, and only dresses in a large black dress to hide her weaponry and not startle her unsuspecting prey, which would run her meals. Well, she does favor her ebony tiara. which she wears to keep her long tressels of hair out of her face.

Personality:
There is much to be expected from anyone who has spent more than two centuries secluded in the dark, and mere spiders serve as her eyes and ear on the surface world. Emi Koyanagi was once a timid girl who lived within the Hidden Mist until she realised her importance to the Hachihashi race, which is not to be confused with their human predecessors. She has become a selfish and callous individual, whose entire purpose in life has become self preservation in the name of a race which failed to grow, and left her as one of the last true symbols of her kind. She is a greedy sort, and accepting of the fact, as her eternal life is the result of neglecting to pass her clan’s gift unto offspring. Instead she has chosen the path of a queen, and uses her gifts to enslave a legion of arachnid servants, rather than waste them on procreation.

Motivations: The Web Madame has wanted for very little for the last hundred years, but something has begun to irk her when it comes to her existence below the Land of Water. The wasteland above has become uninhabitable for even her kind, and her servants suffer. Her legion of spiders dwindle, much like the fate of her people since she took the reins, and she cannot help but feel wrath towards what has become of the surface above. With no land for her spiders to hunt on, her kingdom began to resemble a prison, and the luxury of her ruler-ship has faded to ruin.

Fears: As expected of a madame of her stature, Emi has little to fear within the protection of her hidden lair, and countless loyal subjects. However, her seclusion and illusions of grandeur have often provoked the paranoia that outsiders will come and attempt to strip the gold off of her palace walls, or seek to end her life due to pure vanity or jealousy. She is extremely prejudice during the rare occasion of a visitor finding her home, and will often order her spiders to subdue the intruder before they reach her, so that she may finish them personally.|

Role play Treatise
Emi Koyanagi is an NPC designed for playing a key role in Jomei's backstory as a Hachihashi, as well as his character development. While her powers are depicted as vast, Emi is not a character I intend to apply in combat roles, as NPCs do not have stats and skills of their own. I am willing to roleplay with Emi in collaborative threads with anyone looking to create a story, and invite anyone reading this to consider plots where they'd like to involve Emi, or any of my NPCs for that matter.

Character History in Detail
Once upon a time, Emi Isa was just another child born into a small family of shinobi from the Land of Water, who pledged their loyalty to the Village Hidden in the Mist. While the Isa seemed like just another common household, one of Emi’s parents kept a spectacular secret that would endanger their lives. At the time of her youth, it was common for children to become orphaned by the tragedies committed in the name of her mother’s second life as a hachihashi. While Emi was a mere infant, Emi’s mother disappeared, and was held for three days before being put to death for violating one of the society’s cardinal rules. As to be expected, Emi’s father sought out his wife and the Hachihashi Society desperately, but was also slain at the site where . I know it may sound cruel, but such was life in those times. It would take years for her to learn the truth behind her parents’ untimely death; as it was an era of secrecy for the Hachihashi Society; their numbers were few and they only gathered in seclusion, keeping their evolutions hidden beneath heavy cloaks and jagged daggers. They met in a temple deep underground, in a place where only the Hachihashi could venture safely. that deterred nosey spies from ever spreading the information of their meetings. They did not gather into traditional family structures, and if knowledge of their clan ever leaked, those guilty would have their tongues cut, their eyes plucked, and their arms would be amputated as needed for fellow clansmen in need of a replacement. In their youths, Hachihashi were commonly implanted into prestigious families as adoptive offspring, and trained to keep their powers secret via strong influence from the ever-watchful Hachihashi Society. In the case of this Isa family unit, Emi’s mother outlived her usefulness to the clan by settling down as a mediocre ninja, and breeding with a low-status shinobi from the Hidden Mist. After a very brief deliberation period, the High Council of Eight elected to start over with Emi, and redeploy her with a new family. Once her parents were out of the picture, Emi became a special project of the society, as no Hachihashi child would be left to wander the world alone by their own kind.

Hachihashi Indoctrination:
In the wake of tragedy, Emi was planted into an orphanage, and there she remained from the time her parents died, until she was of age to receive shinobi training- just as her benefactors intended. On assignment from the high council, someone had adopted Emi, and became an medical apprentice to an accomplished field corpsman. She was promptly adopted by a new master named Ukyo Koyanagi, and like Emi, he was born from the Hachihashi. Ukyo was the adopted second-son of an affluent household with investments in the water country’s shipping industry. As was expected of every prestigious family in this era, Ukyo served as the Koyanagi family’s sole contribution to the Hidden Mist’s shinobi army; and with his Hachihashi genetics, he excelled as such. He was a field surgeon, and took pride in his ability to sew just about anything, or anyone back together. His methods were unique, and he was frighteningly quick with a scalpel. But Ukyo was also nurturing. He gave her an alternative to the mundane academy program, and provided her training that would manifest and refine her hidden potential, to reach extraordinary heights. And rather than serving in some rough-neck shinobi squad, Emi would only shadow Ukyo on special assignments that favored her training. Rather than exposing Emi to missions in the killing fields, Ukyo introduced her to espionage and assassinations in the realm of politics and global influence. It may have been something about how the world worked at that time, but Hachihashi Society intended to affect the entire balance of the Water Nation. As Emi’s hachihashi genes began to show in her appearance and capabilities, Ukyo taught her the importance of keeping her evolution a secret, and clan jutsu that enabled her to conceal the transformation. Even as a child, she was beginning to develop hachiashi traits uniquely different from the likes of Master Ukyo. By her teens, Emi styled bangs to cover the six extra arachnid eyes on her forehead, which resembled perfectly-rounded rubies.

A Scheme of Ascension:
By the time Emi reached young adulthood, the prestige of the Koyanagi had grown significantly, and their family’s affluence made them a valuable asset to the Society. Emi had become an heiress to the Koyanagi name by day, while her Master Ukyo graduated from serving as a shinobi, to owning their adoptive families freighting company. The spiders spread their webs wide across what were once the meager Konayagi family, and created a fleet of vessels that spanned as far as the sea was wide. By night, Emi had become an influential tool for the operation, and represented both her family, and the high council at elite social gatherings, like galas and ceremonies. She would attend the events as an invited guest from the Koyanagi family, often wearing exotic and daring appearances that would capture the attention of targets dictated by Master Ukyo. Her methods would range from simplistic strategies like using the party as a means to steal valuable information from an estate, to entertaining elites, and getting close enough to slyly kill a target without alerting a crowd in public. Sometimes she would be asked to take it a step further and extract info from individuals, and that was where she learned to shine the most. Emi enjoyed the game of meddling with the lives of these people who lived in their bubbles. It never felt like reality when she floated through the rooms of countless parties dripping with gold. It seemed as if she could have anything she wanted, as the power of manipulation was hers among her targets and marks, but at the end of the night, she often returned home to her master, who had evolved into a father-like role to Emi, and often awaited her return from missions.

And in the twenty-third year of her experience in life, Master Ukyo had come to Emi with an important mission that asked more of her than anything he requested in the past. It had become Emi’s time to take her place within the society’s great scheme of ascension, and she was given the task of using her nobility to wed herself into an elite family from the neighboring tea country. While the journey would prove quite a challenge for Emi, she would create incredible opportunities for the Hachihashi, and further expand the Koyanagi family’s sphere of influence in the shipping industry.
The mark chosen for their scheme was one of several heirs to the Ebihara family, which were incredibly wealthy, and numerous enough that Emi could afford to be fickle about her groom. In a matter of weeks she transitioned from moving into the country to creating a presence among the aristocracy that controlled the region. She joined them for brunches, and attended sparring matches. She made her way closer to the Ebihara, and it didn’t take long until she found a suitable mark: the third of their fortune’s seven heirs. Using her charisma and months of planning, along with the help of youthful good looks and pheremones that caused males to feel pleasure and attraction in her presence. Needless to say, Emi became a treasure to the Ebihara family, and used her talents to merge their wealth into the Hachihashi Society’s living bank; the Konayagi family. When visiting their estate to meet her mark, Emi played to their interests and acted as an emissary of her family business. She floored her company with her confidence and strength of character, and her beauty in their presence seemed awe-inspiring, if not rare to the seclusion of their estate in the fire country. By nightfall, Emi would don her kunoichi uniform and stealthily raid the family’s estate for records and useful information that would aid Ukyo once he attempted a corporate takeover with the Koyanagi Corporation.

It took several months for Emi to gain a stronghold on the Ebihara family and fortune, and it only costed her an ongoing engagement with the fourth Ebihara heir, which had fallen hopelessly in love with her. As her ferry arrived on the shore of the hidden mist, and Emi made her long-awaited return home, she was eager to tell her master Ukyo of her accomplishments in person. In her excitement, Emi arrived home a day early, and discovered the Koyanagi estate in dire straits, but not in the fashion you’d expect, like what a parent would expect when their kid has a party while they are away. Blood was spilled along the floor of the estate’s main hall and Emi followed the trail to her master’s study, where he lay on the floor, taking his last breaths. Ukyo appeared in his raw Hachihashi form, which was tough-skinned and covered with hardened spikes from his forehead to his elbows, knuckles, and et cetera. He lay mutilated, in a bloody mess with all six of his arms sloppily amputated, along with his pride as the heir of an empire that he created from a mere few fishing boats. As he lay dying, Ukyo lowered the only barrier left himself and his pupil, and told her the truth behind her true family, the Hachihashi Society, and her fate as a member of it. He pleaded for her to understand and forgive his culture, and informed her that the Society would be dealing with her directly from that point forward. Another clansmen would come to her soon, and she would have to conform with their demands, and good things would come of it if she did. The mutilation of Ukyo was merely an act of gifting his arms to another Hachihashi ninja who had been told to take Ukyo’s after losing his own as a casualty of battle. Apparently, the Society decided that Ukyo was no longer of use since Emi had grown into power of her own. They had simply pruned him. But he did not intend for Emi to see him this way, and Ukyo put up quite a fight when the recipient of his donation came to collect the appendages personally, and primitively. The thief used an advanced toxin created by so few Hachihashi, that it proved effective on the clansmen who did not possess his ability. Ukyo lost his mobility after a single dose of the assassin’s poison, and the crazed assassin had a field day with him. Using a makeshift hacksaw he molded from sticky-gold webbing, the killer sawed off Ukyo’s arms after forcing him to reveal them in combat. Emi managed to seal off his bleeding and prolonged his life using the medical techniques Ukyo taught her. Though weak and steadily withering, Ukyo maintained the resolve to tell her the truth about her past, and the order of eight spiders who controlled their lives.

In the weeks following Ukyo’s untimely demise, Emi had to cover for Ukyo’s murder and created a rumor that he was slain in battle elsewhere. The fragile Konayagi family relied upon Emi to take on Ukyo’s responsibilities, and she attained a position of power between two elite families, just as the Hachihashi Society intended. However, no emissary or messenger came for her as quickly as she expected- the order kept it’s distance, watching from the shadows as Emi became burdened by duty and mourning. She returned to the Tea Country, and committed to the wedding, which became a bitter affair in the shadow of Ukyo’s death. During the ceremony, the audience in attendance consisted of mostly Ebihara family members, with no members of the Konayagi willing to cross the sea to attend. It was this night that a stranger took a seat at the rear of the ceremony; he privately revealed himself to Emi during the reception. He was another Hachihashi parading about as a priest from a temple in her home country, and he claimed to have come to show good faith on behalf of her order, the Hachihashi Society. His name was Father Noya Daisetsu, and he began casting doubt upon Ukyo’s last words as the night went on, under their breaths amongst their aristocratic party. He explained that Ukyo was slain as a measure to prevent him from usurping the Society, just as Ukyo intended to eventually do to Emi once his Konayagi operation finished taking over her Ebihara. Father Noya insisted that Ukyo created the lie about the limb offering in order to save face with Emi, and keep her love and loyalty through to his death. The counter-claim worked on Emi long enough for her to succumb to the instructions of her new acquaintance, and Emi received her official welcome to the Hachihashi Society as a recognized member.

The Web of Fate
In time, Emi returned to the Hidden Mist, and Father Noya brought her to the inner sanctum of the Hachihashi Society; a temple hidden deep below the hot spring caverns below the village. She became a trusted member of the Society once her regional influence became a crucial power for them; and as such they risked teaching her their deepest secrets. For years she’d come to serve her order as a member of respected status, well until she reached a respectable position even greater than her Master Ukyo ever aspired for her. As an elite within the order, and the sole female with her level of status, she received the title of Brood Mother and became one of the eight High Council Seers of the order. They revealed a mystical entity to her known as the Web of Fate, an aura of immense chakra that permeated the deepest recess of the cavern with a fine, web-like residue that glowed a bright blue hue, resembling visible traces of chakra. The elders taught Emi how to read and perceive this massive flow of chakra, and to navigate it, as only Hachihashi could. For ages this Secret Order existed to oversee and maintain this giant web, as it held the key to all perceivable existence: past, present, future, and all the paradoxes in between. The elders were capable of climbing onto those fragile web strands without them snapping beneath their weight, and could foresee the outcomes of several future realities of their hachihashi kind by simply running a finger along a thread of the web. With this powerful tool at their disposal, the Order of Eight constructed an elaborate organization that existed to protect this power for generations to come; and manipulated their way into power and influence around the ninja world.

In order for Emi to amass the skills she’d need to navigate and read the Web of Fate, Emi was chosen for a ritual performed only once per generation, when a new member is chosen to join the Order of Eight they are taught a forbidden technique known as Kimera no Jutsu: a necessity for attaining the needing abilities to access the Web of Fate. A Hachihashi must use the Kimera no Jutsu to sacrifice several of the their own kind in order to manifest new abilities, and ultimately, immortality, as it took several lifetimes to attain enough skill to properly master the web. Emi chose to hasten her learning by turning on the elders who saw fit to destroy everything she loved in life. Unlike Ukyo or the other Hachihashi who came before her, Emi was not satisfied with the explanation she was given for the self-destructive design of her clan, and elected to rebuild it from within by completing the uprising Ukyo spent so many years preparing. An uprising was due for this order, and her judgement was swift as Emi wasted no time, and absorbed her first elder during the sealing ceremony. Her attack was vicious as she was being celebrated and helped off of the table where they performed the jutsu sealing as she committed the attack: the ultimate heresy. Her rage was hidden and her plans were calculated. While Emi was not the best-trained killer, her raw talent was incredible and she instantly benefited from stealing the life force of the first elder; as her body transformed irreversibly that very moment, and her hachihashi limbs shot outward from her body and pierced her foes with hardened black fingers. That night, Emi managed to murder and absorb three of the eight High Council members; but had to retreat once the remaining elders regroup and revealed their own advanced abilities which still overpowered her. She narrowly escaped the temple that night once the other clansmen within the society got wind of her betrayal. Her bones were broken, and one of her arms were even lost in the fray, yet a new regenerative ability she absorbed from the third councillor allowed her limb to regrow before the next morning came.

The Reign of Madame Web
That night would forever change the path of Emi’s fate, as she outcasted herself from the Hachihashi Society, and changed her appearance radically by absorbing so many hachihashi at once, that she would need to relearn many of her transformation jutsus to conceal her new true form. The Hachihashi blood flowing through her veins had become so dominant that her lower body evolved into a spider like thorax and anus, and her appendages relocated and extended themselves. Emi disappeared at once from Ebihara and Koyanagi fortunes, and went into hiding as her Hachihashi brethren began a bloody, and vengeful hunt that spilled blood all the way from the Hidden Mist to her Estate in the Tea Country. Expecting this kind of reaction from her clan, Emi had their assets frozen and hidden in advance to the Kimera no Jutsu ritual. She protected her master’s mighty fortune from the society, and hid them in a vault in an undisclosed location in the fire country. In the following few decades, Emi dedicated her life to taking over the Hachihashi Society, and one by one, she managed to unseat and devour the elders who currently controlled it. In the time it took to accomplish her plans and destroy the society, Emi watched as the fire of her youth began to wither, and she became an elder herself, in her 50’s as she assumed the role of Madame Web, and with it the loyal followership of the hachihashi still alive to witness their new queen, and her bloody hands. Her power became godly among the ninja of her era, and her authority became unquestionable as she learned the ways of the Web of Fate. And while Emi may have attained power in order to end the cycle of self-destruction celebrated by her ancestors, Emi was not capable of creating a new sustainable way of life for their order, and she witnessed as it crumbled in numbers and influence. Changes at the turn of the century led to a revolution on the Hachihashi people which Emi welcomed, and the decree of secrecy was finally lifted from their people, with the exception of the Web of Fate.

Under her leadership, the Hachihashi became respected members of the shinobi of the hidden mist, and spread themselves across the continent over the next several decades of Emi’s reign. The spiders finally existed as a clan of free people, but as a result, their order began to dwindle to little but the Madame and her Web; as the local clansmen disappeared from her side, and knowledge of the Web of Fate came down to Emi and a select few others, meant to maintain it in the event something ever happened to her.

As the health of her clan reached the pits of disparity, Emi resorted to the Web of Fate to uncover the future that was destined for her clan, and the village hidden in mist alike. Almost twenty years ago, Madame Web made a deal with a young adventurer who had uncovered the Sacred Temple of the Spider, and sought after the heiress of the Koyanagi family Emi once was. His name was Benjiro Matsui, and he was a bothersome curr from the Stone Country who was managing to dig up the connections between the many affluent Hachihashi who originated in the water country. Seeking the fortune of Emi Koyanagi to save his own noble family, Benjiro collected a small army of mercenaries from the middle-seas and hunted down the Spider Queen’s lair. They fought through the Madame’s own army of spiders, which she gained sentient of control of using some of the many abilities she gained using her forbidden jutsu. Countless spiders were slain as the army plunged into her temple, and nothing but Benjiro and a couple of his best men made it onto her throne room floor. They found a pristine hall covered in gold and lit torches, and an exquisite goddess of spiders who watched intensely as they stormed her palace. Attempting to take something that wasn’t there, Benjiro claimed that the Madame used her clan to steal the fortune of Emi Koyanagi using their implanted operative, her master Ukyo. Benjiro intended on confiscating the fortune on behalf of the Water Country, but Emi was quick to correct him and reveal that she was indeed Emi Koyanagi herself. She saw through his claims and intentions, and ensured him that the fortune he wanted was not there, and that she had an offer for him that would end with him being rewarded with the entire fortune if he agreed to meeting her terms. The Spider Queen foresaw Benjiro’s scheme with the Web, and chose to use him to her advantage since the village of mist would meet it’s demise to the eternal winter that would eventually doom it, and her clan. She revealed a small orphaned child from underneath her robes; a baby boy wearing a red cotton cap and garments, in a basket made of straw. His name was Jomei Koyanagi, or so she claimed urgently, upon revealing him. She made him a deal: if he would raise this hachihashi child, and send him back to her in fifteen years once his hachihashi abilities were fully revealed, she would grant Benjiro the treasure he desired, or else she’d kill him then and there; and he’d never manage to find that fortune if he managed to escape her temple with his life in tact. With no choice but to take her deal, Benjiro Matsui took the child Jomei, and left her sight at once. As Benjiro her temple left with the child of burden, Emi warned him that he should urge Jomei to manage his abilities secretively, as he would be at risk to remaining Hachihashi of the world who still believed in sacrificing weaker specimens, as being a Koyanagi would make him extra valuable. In order to protect his foster son more effectively, he resorted in branding him with his own name, Matsui.

While she did not tell Benjiro, her scheme was intended to ensure that her clan would see the next generation, and a vassal would eventually arrive to awaken her from the next phase of her plan to save the future: reincarnation. In her collected wisdom, Emi devised a new method reincarnate herself and achieve a new youthful form, so that she would regain the vitality needed to rebuild the web of fate once the hidden mist was destroyed by the unending storm. During their lifetimes, each Hachihashi is capable of molting at least once; a process where their bodies are saved from certain death by secreting sticky webbing until they are encased in a cocoon, and undergoing a healing transformative process. Most Hachihashi use this process to gain their special abilities, but Emi had yet to molt, and molting after receiving her Kimera no Jutsu sealing would result in something drastically different and uncharted. Her theory was full reincarnation, but she predicted that the full molting process would take her years to fully reincarnate. Once the diplomat left with the key to unsealing her special molting process, Emi ordered her remaining army of giant arachnids to guard her temple ferociously, allow no one but the Hachihashi to enter domain again, and began a long sleep she expected to last about a decade. She remains asleep till this day, awaiting Jomei to awaken her from her reincarnation slumber, still clinging to life despite her slumber lasting several years longer than expected.

[TD]Personality:</FONTFACE>
Kaji is best-described as a gentlemanly character who embodies the traits of modest self-confidence, dedication to his goals, and a strict honor code. Kaji’s sense of rationality is one of his most efficient traits, as he often analyzes situations to weigh mitigating factors, and find the best solutions possible. When facing a challenge Kaji is as determined as they come, and always maintains his composure until opportunities present themselves. Where his experience falls short, he is quick to adapt and overcome. He has the patience of a fisherman, the passion of a theater performer, and the Stallworth dedication of a shinobi-legend in the making. Kaji is also a strategist to a fault: typically every moment of his days are planned out, and in the heyday of his past, his allies considered him to be tactically brilliant on the battlefield. However, his ruthless pragmatism is occasionally a ground for creating conflict. Despite being a strong Lawful-Good driven man, he has a very independent mindset since his release from the Onyxian Sanctum, meaning he will always choose to do the right thing over obeying orders. His life of traveling and adventure has fostered a curiosity towards the mysteries of the world, and the amazing this to be found in the wilderness and in foreign lands.

For all the strengths granted by his persona, Kaji is not free of burdens and drawbacks created by his negative traits. He is often so practical that he is deemed a spoil-sport by others, and a curmudgeon when he becomes obsessively focused on a task or duty. While he isn’t the type to endanger his allies deliberately with his ambitions, Kaji’s dedication to his craft can occasionally put others at risk of dealing with the brunt of his decisions. But in his own way, Kaji is harsh but nurturing, often putting his allies first and pushes them to do their best, sometimes to their breaking point. He is as demanding of others as he is with himself, which tends to create rifts between Kaji and his allies.

Physical Description:
Beneath his gentlemen’s style and persona is an ectomorphic physique sculpted to near-perfection— the product of close to twenty years of militant shinobi training and service. He is slim by design and stands tall and lean, made for agility over acts of brutal strength. His body is free of heavy scarring despite years of rogue activity and hard labor. The few scars on his body serve as constant reminders of miscalculated actions: things he won’t repeat. His skin is of a tan complexion, and his hair is jet-black, almost shoulder length, and almost always blowing in a breeze if possible. It appears as if his skill with the sword has carried over to the scissor, as he cuts the hair himself rather than seeking professional stylists. His eyes are olive green in color and as dull as grass, but their shape fits his face handsomely, resulting in a moderately attractive endgame.
Clothing & Style:
It's fairly common for Kaji to dress in collared button-up shirts, with black suspenders and earth-toned slacks paired with black suede riding boots. In colder environments, he is known for adding a coffee-colored aviator jacket to his appearance. He doesn't try hard to look cool, it's just kind of effortless. Even on casual days, Kaji tends to latch a toolkit onto the back of his trousers and only manages to conceal his sword Eelspine in a seal-tag form until trouble arises. And then there's his combat. Kaji’s combat costume layout is made to reflect simplicity and effectiveness. Every item maintains earth-toned shades, ready for adventures abroad or some stealthy activities. His wardrobe is fairly fitted to his body, and the clothing generally includes various pouches and zipper-lined pockets for tools. A few straps and pins are attached to reduce empty spaces. The exact items of clothing he wears change regularly but remains similar in nature, and at a minimum, all of his armors include enchanted protective fabric sewn into the chest, back, and abdominal areas. When operating within the Cloud, Kaji will generally don the traditional ANBU uniform, especially when conducting business within the ANBU Headquarters. In all cases, Kaji will also equip a haze gray or earth-toned cloak as needed, and always pins them with a pewter cast Hidden Leaf pendant, which he wears as the classifier of his status as a leaf diplomat rather than the traditional head protector.

<B>Character History Summary

Of Labor and Lumber — Humble Origins
Kaji Okada was born the second child of a lower class family of lumber farmers living in the high-tree hills of Akatsuchi, a farming territory in the Land of Earth. Alongside two parents, two younger sisters and an older brother, Kaji’s family worked a sizeable patch of forest as serfs to wealthy aristocrats who owned a vast estate. The Okada family tended to this land almost independently. It was an age of false prosperity; where rich families owned land and hired villagers to cultivate their crops for little to nothing. The Okada family toiled sunrise to set for meager pay and a shanty roof over their heads. Even in this environment, young Kaji was recognized for his keen senses and sharp wit.

Destined for more, Kaji's intellect was first furnished when the Landlord imposed a heavy tax due to harsh winter tightening resources across their territory. In an effort to lessen the burden, young Kaji became hired help at the landlord's estate. As a bright lad, he was mostly put to work as a tutor to his employer's children; older children who would benefit from having Kaji to help them with their studies. The estate's owner was inspired by Kaji when the boy swindled him out yen one day with an impressive scam for a child his age. Perhaps in error, the estate owner thought he would elevate Kaji into being a greater servant by educating him. Through the estate's library of books, Kaji learned not only the intellectual tools expected of students, but he delved into the histories and cultures of civilizations far different from the meager farm life he knew. A book titled Shinobi of the Red Earth inspired Kaji to join the ranks of Iwagakure, where he knew any man could make a decent life for himself if worked for it. He desired a life beyond squalor that held purpose.
Of Streets and Squalor — Shinobi of the Red Earth
When he came of age Kaji left his family, essentially running away to do so. He chose to seek out his dream, even at the cost of the humble life he knew. Young but wise beyond his years, Kaji Okada gave up life with his family and threw himself to the wild world instead, seeking adventure. He worked his way into the Hidden Stone, which proved to be quite a task considering his lack of resources. By the proper age of 13, Kaji had escaped his life of servitude and enrolled into the ninja academy.

Almost two decades ago, society had a few major differences to the Hidden Stone we know today. As a young and talented teen with no family to turn to in the new life he chose, Kaji made for perfect ANBU material. Under the watchful eye of his overseer, Master Iwakura, Kaji would become one of the village's most successful protege assassins. Of course his career began with simple jobs like most young Anbu; first filling information and support roles, before graduating to reconnaissance, and eventually elimination orders. He had a unique finesse when on the job. As he was taught, his methods were violent but executed to perfection. The bloody scenes left behind resembled gory art exhibits. Before he snapped, Kaji was close to meeting the record for covert kills on enemy turf.

You can imagine how that kind of reputation can come back to bite you in the ass. Rumors about his character sprang up like weeds. Whispers around the Shrine of Gods judged him as extreme. Time and time again he would place his comrades at risk, often using them as bait or harming them to reach his target. He was developing an unhealthy obsession towards death. But when placed under the spotlight for analysis, Kaji always registered as a solid ninja. Simply following his master's decree, Kaji became a weapon aimed at the head of the stone. On a brisk autumn night he made an attempt on the life of the Tsuchikage of that era, but thankfully (for both him and the kage) the attempt failed and he was captured alive, but only cost the lives of two chamber guards.
Of Redemption and Renewal — The Onyxian Sanctum
Following the assassination attempt, the council incarcerated Kaji, though there was heavy speculation that he would be put to death for treason. He faced constant surveillance in the Onyxian Sanctum. They would have put him to death if they simply followed the same rationality that left Kaji labeled a threat before the attack. A full investigation launched within the ANBU rooted out the mastermind who, through the years of brainwashing, prepared and coerced him into attempting the attack, in addition to several other incidents with his other pupils. Iwakura fled the village, confirming council suspicions. However, during those years it took to uncover the truth, Kaji was subjected to intense psychological reprogramming. A state of the art project meant to turn prisoners into perfect shinobi was put to the test on a notorious killer. It was perfect for the scientists, and they did their worst. Yet, before the facility could finish their research, the program was defunded, and Kaji managed a period of solitude and peace to level himself once more. After four years and nine days, Kaji found freedom, and the council declared him to be a victim of manipulation. Though he was prosecuted, his corrupt master was never brought in alive to pay for his crime; instead, on the night Anbu operatives finally pinpointed his hideout, the strike team arrived to find him freshly slain, in an eerily familiar murder scene.
Of Hunters and Havens — Walking Forested Trails
<FONTFACE fontface="Georgia">In the years following his release from imprisonment, Kaji began a new journey of discovery, seeking nature to show him who he could become without the will of man twisting and perverting his existence. While his probation required Kaji to remain tethered to the village, he became a rover in the wild, gradually reaffirming his identity and those skills dulled by his time in the Sanctum.

initially found a new calling in life as an instructor at the Hidden Stone’s Shinobi Academy. The ability to aid youth in a way that his own former master failed him brought about necessary closure for Kaji; however he would eventually have to leave the Academy role behind after a temporary reassignment to the Hidden Leaf. Following the Leaf’s retaking of their village from the Daimyo’s crazed tyranny, Kaji was deployed with other stone shinobi in order to help restore balance in their ally’s country. Upon moving to Konoha, his qualifications as an Academy Instructor came into question because of his past, and he was forced to return to what he knew how to best in the ANBU Corps. Although he was initially disappointed in being requested to return to a violent life, Kaji found the resolve to remain the different man from whom he was before his imprisonment, and chose to welcome Konoha as part of the new path he walked in life.
