Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Another drag from a day old cigarette. The cigarettes were taking longer these days to consume, not because of a lack of interest or even ability but rather the meddling of these hawk-eye nurses. They would herd him back into his room, those same four dreary, sterile walls with a three year old magazine and an aging television set to help me pass the hours. It had become a game to him, to sneak out to a balcony or open window and sneak a drag in hopes of being caught so that he could flee or to return to his bed undiscovered. At first, it was an easy victory for him but over time they caught on to his tricks or perhaps he slowed as the illness had started to overtake him. Well, the 'cure' was worse than the disease. He felt tired, drained, weak and heavy. Ambulating the halls was an exertion, he would be huffing for breath when he reached the end of a passageway.

He would see the nurse lumbering forward, a husky middle-aged woman with graying teal tresses and a sour look on her face. Her flamingo pink lipstick was too bright given her small, harsh facial features and the heavy eye-liner made her appear older. The scrubs were a size too large, given her obesity this was perhaps a gift given her low-hanging breasts that were ineffectively supported by her brassier. He had always imagined young, single women with white mini-dresses and long youthful dresses pinned back from their face supporting their hat. As a young man, of course only in fantasy he enjoyed the concept of a sponge bath. He was disappointed. Penthouse lied to him.

Over the intercom a static broke the droning noises of health care provision.

"Attention, this is Sennin Roku. For a time now the village leadership has been fighting a battle against a force that was created to destroy not only the village leadership but the entire village itself. Some of you may have noticed the hostility those of the region Sora hold towards anyone who mentions they are from Sunagakure no Sato or is a shinobi, especially one of this village. The reason for this is simple and yet incredibly complex; the Daimyo is plotting the end of our village and the end of our shinobi way. While there is more to that, it is not the most prevalent to why I am contacting you all. What you, as a shinobi of this village, should be aware of a prepared for is this; we are officially at war with the forces of the Daimyo. An army of incredibly strong individuals known as the Sovereign, who are a far greater threat than The Cabal insurgency, are coming for us and have already met us in battle. While the Sennin, the Kazekage and skilled Jounin of this village have met these forces head on, we can no longer keep you all in the dark. You must be prepared for the coming threat. The recent communications involving mass murder and disorder in the asylum, issues within The Orders locations, the destruction in the residential area, all of these were issues where the enemy entered our village and caused havoc."

Everyone had stopped, even Nurse Ratchet. A murmur erupted during this brief moment of silence. Most of the noise had to do with what the Sennin had just revealed but there was a patient who yelled out from his room "NURSE I GOTTA TAKE A SHIT!" As quickly as the world stopped the world for these healthcare providers would resume.

"We have lost many lives so far and the enemies are monsters who nearly no one shinobi in this village can take head on, but that is not to dishearten you. While we have lost lives, we have also dealt defeats to the Sovereign menace that will leave their forces reeling. Their general has fallen, members have been captured for information and others have met defeat. This threat, while seeming overwhelming, can and will be defeated. Not by myself, not by the Kazekage, not by the other Sennin... but by the combined might of all the members of Sunagakure. Our failure to end the chaos of The Cabal threat in a timely matter cannot be repeated. All shinobi of the village will receive a dossier containing information on the known Sovereign members. If you encounter anyone who meets these descriptions or encounter any one acting strange, it is your duty to contact backup in the form of the Sennin or the ANBU. We can no longer blissfully ignore the threat to our village, and you all must be prepared to fight. Stay vigilant, never act on an enemy alone and most of all survive. There has yet to be anything we, as a village, have encountered that we could not withstand. Legendary sandworm, a diamond maelstrom, and insurgency... we may take a beating but the spirit within all of you, the spirit of our ancestors the First Men, beat within you. It is a spirit endowed with an unending perseverance, an unshakable will and a determination that will overcome any obstacle. We will succeed in eradicating the darkness around us, and we will see that light returns to this country once more."

There would be some confusion. Some seemed to make statements of support or indignation towards the Diamyo. it was unfortunate that the speaker did not know, or at least he never put together all of the pieces. If he had, Kaito's support would have been an asset. It was not a secret that he was hired by the Daimyo to create anarchy in the village. it was a truth he revealed a long time ago. Why did it take them years to make this announcement. Was this truly some sort of bureaucratic hell? Were they just that lazy? It was an incredibly frustrating experience to hear what he had from the overhead PA system. He was stating that there was criminal activity in progress, dangers to the community but there was no proof. He stepped away from the window he was leaning out from, cigarette clenched still between his teeth with a stream of smoke trailing from the lit end he ambled into the hallway with a lop-sided smirk on his long, emaciated face. "The hell?" Laughter laced his words.

For a moment the medics and practitioners failed to notice the cigarette hanging from his chapped lips. Some seemed to agree with Kaito, others voiced frustration against Suna for nay-saying the Wind Country leader. Others still seemed indignant, immediately assuming that whatever the Sennin said must be the truth. Kaito saw them as foolish sheep and a part of him felt enraged. They demanded no proof, the only assurance they required was the Sennin's spoken word. He felt that there was likely some sort of agenda behind the Sennin's stated words. "Put out that dam cancer stick, aren't you almost dead enough!" One of the nurses finally rebuked Kaito after a several second delay.

"Then this won't make much of a difference," Kaito replied in response to the nurse's face that was becoming more and more flushed in response to Kaito's indifference "Don't worry about it... I will be out of here before your oxygen tanks combust. Although, that might have been a pretty good plan if I had a thing for killing cripples it would be one thing. Just a shame that nobody seems to want to do much until it directly effects them." He let out a hacking cough, a spray of blood covered his hand as he tried to cover his own mouth. "Don't worry yourselves about me" cough "I will be getting out of your hair."

[col]Encased in the metal shell of his support suit, Katsuo leaned on the door-jam of Kaito's room as he smarted off to the nurse who looked like she would explode from indignation at any moment. Knowing the smart-mouthed former Cabal leader, Kaito was probably a regular headache for her.

"She's right though." He managed to grin despite the soreness of the nerves in his face. His entire body still throbbed with a dull ache from the way he'd overloaded his chakra and nervous systems pouring energy into Suna. They'd managed to repair a lot of the damage he'd done to himself but it was only because of his connection to the Bishamonten Project and their... somewhat unethical procedure that he could even walk or move. In one way he resented them for forcibly embalming him in the metal carapace he was forced to wear now but if they hadn't then he wouldn't be able to even walk. He wouldn't still be useful and perhaps one day be able to fight again.

When he'd heard that Kaito was staying in the hospital, he'd intended to come visit sooner but physical therapy ate up a lot of his time and energy and it was only until now that he even had enough mobility back to move around on his own albeit with the help of a metal walking cane which came up to a height of just shy of his waist line.

"I'm... uh. Sorry I didn't come by sooner but..." He trailed off as he made a sort of nod to his own difficulties before moving into the room and collapsing down in one of the visitor's chairs. He didn't quite have full range of his movement back yet and the "sitting" motion was challenging without letting gravity give him a little bit of a push at times. "I see they finally made the announcement. It's a risk but one that maybe we have to take. The Daimyo is one right bastard, you were right about that."

His appearance was vastly different from the last time Kaito and Katsuo had spoken. Gone was the white and silver coat, replaced by the suit of mechanical mesh and equipment that surrounded his body now. His hair was cut shorter, still a vibrant green as it always was, but styled very differently than before in that it... didn't really have any style to it at all. It was clear that Katsuo had given no thought at all to the appearance of his hair since his accident. On his face were a number of scars which hadn't been there before-- it was clear that the would-be prince of Sunagakure had not been idle in the time in between their last meetings.

Kaito

He felt like a caged animal in the Omni Prime. Hope for a 'cure' was what drew him here like everyone else. It would have been better or perhaps easier to die in a battle, then he would not have to feel himself deteriorate. He would not have to allow others watch him slowly become an invalid as he tried to survive for a few more days as a burden. Nobody wants to die but most hope for the same things, that their death is fast and painless, that it is later in life, and that if their life lacked meaning that perhaps their death would give them some. There was a part of him that looked forward to the end, he was not a religious man but there was a part of him that hoped that if there was a life after this one that he would meet his wife and child there. He just was not ready to go quite yet. A part of him still blamed Sunagakure for his family's death, for years they were derelict in their duties as stewards to the people of Wind Country and they have failed them time and time again. The announcement by the Sennin stirred up those latent sentiments, there was a part of him that would always hate Sunagakure.

He was having a tantrum. It was actually more mature than most shinobis, there was no toddler-like reckless display of shinobi power just an adolescent-like rebellion with a cigarette clenched between his teeth. For him they represented Sunagakure in his narrow world that seemed to be getting smaller and smaller with each passing day. He was about to walk off, it would not be the first time he did so. It was more to say he could. So he casually made his way back to his room, pretending he did not care even if he did. It was less about a nicotine addiction and more about asserting his independence and expressing his displeasure. He was going to wander off but he would be back in time for his next radiation session, he was always back and the nurses already knew that. It was a common behavior many of them realized. He had done this before and there were a number of others just like him. It was one of the reasons why most of the medical staff here also had shinobi training. Thankfully Kaito was not prone to violence, there were a number the Medics had to put in their relative place.

As he made his way back to the room, there would be some weird guy blocking his door. To be honest, Kaito would not recognize him at first. The raw, red-purple striations where angry scars had started to heal had changed the landscape of his jawline. The exoskeleton he now donned seemed alien, like a form-fitting armor from another world. He had never seen anything like it, but the Bishamonten Project was not well-known. He would recognize the woman standing by his side, her name was Naganisa. She looked different, at least different from how she used to. He had known Naganisa for more than a decade, she had changed a lot these past few years. He had not seen her since that incident at the Red Scorpion, the day she died. Yes, she was still alive in the physical sense but she was not the same. She did not look the same. She did not sound the same. The only thing that truly made her the same as she was the experienced that she had and how they shaped her into the woman she was, but whatever it was that Mikaboshi or rather Katsuo had done to save her life had reformed her. Maybe she was better for it, she seemed happier, but she was not the same.

Naganisa

Naganisa was shorter than she used to be, barely cresting the five foot mark. Her long green hair was lighter than Katsuo's and seemed unnatural given her gold eyes and fair complexion. She looked younger than she should have also and she did not appear willing to step away from him. In fact, she had not left his side since she learned he was admitted into the Omni Prime. She arrived after Katsuo was integrated into the Bishamonten's Experimental Project but she would not have stopped them from saving her. She had the same instinct as Katsuo, she would have told them to save whatever they could if it saved his life and function even if it changed him physically. The only problem she had was the fact that she did not trust these nurses. Yes, she saw them stealing glances out of the side of their eye. Yes, she knew that they wanted her man. They offered him a sponge-bath daily. Who needs a daily sponge-bath? Not from you whore!

In fact she was one of them, some tall brunette with big boobs. She was apparently a Chuunin-ranked Medic, she took his blood pressure this morning and checked his temperature twice. She was just looking for excuses to check in on him, she gave the nurse a look of annoyance as she inched closer to Katsuo. She was marking her territory with her presence and proximity.

"I'm... uh. Sorry I didn't come by sooner but..."

"He's been busy," Naganisa added as Katsuo made his way into Kaito's room. She had no idea why they were bothering to visit him. Not that she had anything against the former Cabal Leader, in fact they were good friends but Katsuo had bigger things to worry about than social calls. "Babe," her voice was sharp. She had grown anxious that he might fall apart any moment if he was not careful. She would try to reach out for him before he plopped himself down on the chair but she would not reach him in time. Her heart was in her throat whenever he moved quickly. "Be careful," she reminded him. His nerves were not fully integrated and they did not know if they ever would be. This was an experimental procedure for a reason -- they really did not know if it was going to work.

"I see they finally made the announcement. It's a risk but one that maybe we have to take. The Daimyo is one right bastard, you were right about that."

Katsuo commented and Naganisa would look over at Kaito accusingly. What did he tell K?

Kaito would recognize the look. It was not a good look. It was never a good look. Kaito would shrug his shoulders in response. "Took them long enough," Kaito would respond gruffly. "Which one is this Sennin... Six?" Kaito would ask. Naganisa would give him a stern look again but Kaito would give her no heed. "Seems odd is all," he suggested hinting where he could.

Boy, social meetings without a known reason are a bit uncomfortable. He would eye them both, Naganisa transformed by Mikaboshi and Katsuo dramatically changed by an event unknown to him. He forgot about the tantrum he was supposed to be having. "What brought you here... Katsuo, wasn't it?" His brain was a bit foggy since he started these treatments but he recognized him to an extent despite his injuries and the months that had passed since they last met.
