It wasn't long after Kasen had alerted Kaen to the message that the swarm was gathering that she ended up being rushed to the front of the wall. They were planning something, something BIG. Kasen hurried alongside her brother, but it appeared that he must have intercepted another call. Shortly after, he split from her and she found it difficult to catch up to him. Kasen, stalled in this new development, quickly received a headset call that forced her to turn her attention elsewhere. "Medic! We need a medic!" There was some static interference, a loud crash, and then quickly after the line went dead. Kasen was able to obtain a set of coordinates though and turned her attention that way. The blue haired medical shinobi took off to where the signal had transmitted from only to find a building near the gates had partially. There were two main branch shinobi already trying to assist with the evacuation of the villagers that were trapped inside. Kasen hurried over, looking one of them dead in the eye. "Get me up to speed. What is the status here?" One of the shinobi, blood slowly pouring down one side of his face, one of his eyes clearly injured, was breathing heavily, having just narrowly escaped being crushed by falling debris from the building. "They...They just came out of nowhere. Hundreds of them. They started smashing their way through buildings, slaughtering villagers. There's a group of shinobi gathered down the street trying to hold them off while we evacuate. They're not fairing well though." Listening attentively to the shinobi, Kasen reached into her bag and handed him some bandages that she always carried on her. "Here, wrap this around your eye. After this is all over, maybe we can fix it. Do you have it from here? I'm going to help the group up ahead." The shinobi nodded quickly before starting to wrap the bandage. With that signal, Kasen started to sprint down the road.
As she got closer to the group of shinobi, the area was overtaken by noise of growls and yelps. Sounds that were both inhuman and human alike. All that Kasen could see were shinobi raising their weapons to fend off the monsters that came at them one by one without hesitation. Near the back, it appeared that many of those that had sustained critical injuries had either been pulled or made their way to the ranks in the back for a moment of reprieve from the wall of the swarm. "There's too many! We can't hold them here forever!" A faceless shinobi yelled across the sea of people nearby Kasen. The man who had just yelled was about to be attacked by a leaping unbent, talons raised. Kasen knew the blow would likely be fatal to the man. Thinking quickly, she shot a torpedo of water at the monster and watched as it was blasted backwards, a large chunk of it's flesh being rendered away. The man's eyes grew wide as he looked at Kasen, clearly both surprised and thankful of the near death save. "Don't give up just yet. They have their weaknesses as much as we do. Send back your wounded, I'll get them patched up and back in shape." Perhaps it was not all guns and glory with Kasen, but she felt she at least was serving and integral role in the fight against the swarm. She could heal as much as she could harm.
Quickly getting back to work, Kasen knelt upon the ground with her satchel of medical items hanging from her side. "Ok, have to work fast." Kasen quickly assessed whom among the ranks were already dead. It appeared to be a good handful that she could not save. The first person she came to that was alive appeared to be clutching his legs in pain. Upon closer inspection, the bone of his right femur was sticking out of his skin. "Please, it's my leg." Kasen looked at the shinobi and then back at his leg. "Ok, I have to get it set before I can get this healed up. It's gonna hurt like hell. Here, bite this." Kasen handed the man a thick wooden stick. The man looked at it and bit down hard upon it. Kasen didn't have much of a splint to work with to help her set the bone correctly. Thinking fast, she channeled some of her chakra into the earch and raised 2 thick slabs next to the man's leg to keep it steady. Next, she would try to carefully each the bone back into alignment under the skin and with a swift thrust, push down. It was certainly not the most practical, nor was it the most medically sound decision to setting the leg, but it got the job done. The man screeched in pain and nearly jolted up, but Kasen worked fast and channeled her chakra right into his leg. She could feel the bone fusing back together and the skin overtop of the leg sealed behind it. The man blinked a few times before Kasen carefully took the stick from his mouth. The man stood, testing out his leg. A smile grew on his face. "Thanks, doc. It's like brand new." The man turned back towards the swarm that still kept pushing their way into the throng of men that lined the streets in retaliation. "Is that the best you've got, you bastards?" The shinobi took off, his leg as good as new.
Moving on, Kasen hurried on to find the next downed shinobi in the crowd. She pushed her way past intense and heated brawls of the swarm versus shinobi. Coming out of a thick group, Kasen suddenly realized she had somehow ended up at the forefront of it all. "Oh, no." Several members of the swarm had caught sight of Kasen. Her blue hair stuck out like a sore thumb in the crowd of those behind her. Five of the unbent rushed towards her, ready to strike. Kasen quickly summoned two water clones that stood beside her. While the monsters still did not seem to care one way or the other of the new presence. The two clones managed to wrangle two of the unbent, one each, with a water snare and broke both of the pairs legs before quickly beating it down. Three of the unbent still managed to latch onto Kasen. Feeling Same's energy flare, Kasen's blue aura sparked to life. The unbent were clawing at her in a frenzy. With a snap of her wrist, a large crystal pierced forth from the earth, impaling one of the unbent. It hung twitching for a moment before life drained from it. Kasen managed to throw another off of her, and sent shards of ice rushing into it's body. Finally, the last unbent that stuck to her back raised a weapon over it's head before another shinobi sent a blaze of fire towards it. Kasen looked up, hoping that Kaen had managed to make his way towards her, but it was in fact the shinobi from before, who's leg she had repaired. Kasen grinned at him. "Now we're even. We have to get moving, there's more coming." Kasen nodded. She took in the setting around her and noted that there appeared to be a turn of the tide. The unbent that had remained and fought the small army of shinobi were no longer, but many seemed to have turned tail and started running towards the gates and out. A bad feeling settled in the pit of Kasen's stomach.
Given a moment of respite, Kasen made her way back around once again and helped some of the injured shinobi that were fallen. There were many lacerations and broken bones, which could luckily be patched up fairly easily with medical jutsu. However, some of the deeper wounds that ended up being potentially lethal required even her most advanced water healing techniques to be utilized. While not all of the shinobi managed to survive, the ones that did were incredibly grateful that she had managed to come to their aid to at least assist medically. While Kasen knew she done some, she knew that the village had much of these shinobi to thank for their protection. Kasen smiled over the man with the broken leg, appearing to be patching up some of the others as well. It appeared her at least had some skill when it came to surface level wounds. Suddenly there appeared to be a giant dust cloud beyond the gates and a uproarious sound that overtook her ears. Many of the shinobi stopped, and allowed the area to be filled with the coming sounds of a war. The ones that were still fit to fight quickly hurried on to the next post. Kasen's headset sparked to life once more. "Attention all shinobi, we ask that you stand and fight with Suna. The time is drawing near." Kasen took a deep breath before letting it out quickly. While initially this may not have been her home, despite her heritage, this was now a place she was beginning to call one. She had a home and loved ones here, friendships she had just started making and a career she planned to forge ahead in. Kasen would prepare and fight to protect her home.
