Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Application for Ability "Defensive Technique":
Katsu in the Wild, Part 1

It had been two weeks since Katsu had left his little fishing village to head to the Hidden Leaf Village for ninja training, and to be honest… he’d gotten separated from his group and was completely lost now. Well, ‘separated’ might not be the right word, maybe ‘ditched’? So he got into trouble with the merchant’s kid, and broke the cocky tailor’s hand, and maybe bit a horse that was looking at him funny. They all had it coming. Now, however, he was in the middle of some forest with nothing but his katana, a little something he’d stolen from the merchant’s supply. A small distance away, he caught sight of a boar. Well, more than caught sight, it was running right at him. And, for a moment, he froze. The tusks were dangerous, and the speed, and the size. But for now, he had to move. ‘Which way’ he thought, which way will it go? Straight, left, right? By the time he began moving, he’d already realized the thought didn’t matter if he chose the only direction it couldn’t go: up. With a leap which put his height to shame, Katsu went over the charging boar, taking cover quickly in case it would turn around and pursue him.

Application for "Stalker":
Katsu in the Wild, Part 2

For the last half day, he’d been following the boar he’d seen. Sure, could’ve gone for a smaller animal, but this boar thought he was all that with his size and tusks and four legs. Katsu would show him… at some point. He’d covered his sword and body in dirt, learning quickly that animals’ keen sense of smell can sniff out ‘cleaness’. It also helped to understand line of sight and shadows, knowing how to move to confuse the opponent’s awareness of him. Once he had his prey in his sights, he drew his blade. Approaching swiftly, utilizing the shadows and even the smallest nooks in the ground, stepping only on footing that wouldn’t make much sound. He was soon upon the beast, bringing the sword down with calculated intent at the neck. It ran off, but bled out and eventually he dragged it to his fire, hoping it’d keep him full til he reached the Leaf Village.

Deactivating Stalker
“How did you find me?” Katsu asked out of curiosity, raising his sword against the gang of thugs he’s pissed off this time.

To answer his question, they all laughed, pointing to a trail of hair he’s left. Ah… Catsu the cat’s shedded fur. Katsu didn’t realize at the time he adopted the feline, but snuggling with it certainly did leave him quite incapable of stealth. How… inconvenient.

What did he value more, he asked himself in this moment. The ability to sneak about, or the most savage and cutest cat in the world? With a battlecry, Katsu answered the question, deciding then and there that he would have to give up trying to hide.

Initiative
The idea was simple enough: “He who strikes first wins.” Katsu always struck first, but recently he realized that first wasn’t enough, he had to strike before the battle begun. So, to train his battle instinct such that he could act before the fight, he sat Catsu the cat down in front of him and he placed his face near the cat’s own. Inevitably, the feline would make a swipe for Katsu’s face, tearing it up. Katsu’s goal was to be able to sense it and act before the scratch came. After an hour of this, and many hundreds of cuts to the nose and general face area, Katsu was able to more or less react a second or so ahead of the ‘first’ blow. That is to say, he became quicker to act on decisions than before.
Deadeye
Katsu practiced using his new sword, something he recently unpacked. Apparently it was from his dad’s old clan? Anyway, he ran chakra through it (as per instructions conveniently attached) and swung, sending out a sharp blade of chakra with the movement… at the wall, parallel with his swing. Not very intuitive, was it? With that thought, Katsu began to practice outdoors with a dummy to better control his aim with the projectile-launching sword. Eventually, he could hit something with it, which is when he began to experiment. With a few short bursts of chakra, he could divide the projectile into smaller portions in a single swing, good for overwhelming an enemy. With a more prolonged and steady flow, Katsu could create chakra kunai that stuck around a bit longer as well, though maintaining them required minor focus on the side.
Technical Pacifist
Recently, Katsu had a thought: isn’t the best defense a good offense? His current thinking was along the lines of stopping an enemy from attacking him by attacking them, namely to interrupt their handseals and disarm their weapon. While he would certainly be losing time he could be spending hurting his foe, it would be a valuable asset if he could learn to strike to impair rather than just straight-up harm. For this, he began to practice with Riku. Anytime the young scoundrel drew a card that day, Katsu would punch his friend’s hands, forcing him to drop the card and, ultimately, embarrassing the proclaimed rogue.

Jutsu Mastery
With his newfound talent in Yin Chakra manipulation, Katsu began to test the capabilities with it. First, he’d already found that he could move his body parts directly through chakra signals rather than using his nerves, letting him spend less energy telling his body parts what to do. He found it natural, as well, to expand genjutsu further with less effort. The surprising part, however, was the fact that ninjutsu, as well, benefitted. With more precise and intuitive commands which gave shape to his Yang Chakra, Katsu found that while he made his Ninjutsu smaller to save stamina, he could maintain its effectiveness with more effective instructions.
Elemental Illusion
‘If Ninjutsu and Genjutsu can both work with Taijutsu, can’t they work with each other’, Katsu thought innocuously. In a fit of curiosity, Katsu began to experiment, mixing his elemental nature chakra into his Yin chakra and sending it out as a genjutsu, focused only in his hand. It was… strange, to say the least. While the genjutsu was fully effective, he also felt a difficulty moving. Not impossible, but it felt as if his body was being hindered by some invisible source beyond the illusion. Thinking on it further, he supposed it must be that the elemental properties are affecting the mind and senses of the target, causing them general discomfort. Katsu wasn’t sure how effective it would be in battle, but was quite eager to test it.
Hyperactive
Katsu smashed up the Super Soldier Pills on the table, using one of Riku’s cards to straighten it into lines, then sniffed it all up. Three hours later, he woke up in the hospital. Huh, so perhaps taking more than one of those that way was… not the healthiest decision he could have made. He looked at his hands, finding them shaking uncontrollably. The doctor said he was fine, though perhaps this was a side effect? With a few short breaths, Katsu found he could calm the shivers somewhat, though all that energy he’d repressed soon found its way redirected to his head, and he felt as if pure caffeine was flowing through his veins. Oh man… Katsu prayed this wasn’t permanent.
