Name: Kazanari Ichika
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Sex: Male
Rank: Academy Student
General Description:
Personality:
Ichika isn’t particularly a nice boy. He’s polite in the basic way everyone is to just get by, avoiding any confrontations, but that’s just his default state, reserved for people that are ultimately inconsequential to him. He can’t stand people that step on others, his fiery temper otherwise betraying his cool, indifferent demeanor. He’s extremely jealous of people that are able to be true to themselves– expressive, free, pure… all of the things he just can’t seem to find in himself and when he sees someone he finds beautiful, he can’t help but try to cling to their radiance despite being very bad at opening up himself.
Kazanari Ichika wants more than anything to see the beauty of the world, the good shine through the rot, but deep down he fears that it’s a fruitless endeavor. He’s never honest about his feelings, always hiding behind a cynical veneer, but when push comes to shove his body always moves on its own. He can’t help it. If somebody needs help, what does it matter if he burns himself up in the process? It’d all be worth it to prove himself wrong and burn bright and beautiful even if just for a moment.
It’s all purely hypocritical of course. Obviously he wants to be a hero that wants to protect everyone, admired and loved by all, but he has no idea how to be someone that can receive that kind of affection. That’s not to say he doesn’t want to try, but he’s sheltered, soft and still just a boy at the end of the day. He’s going to try the best he can, despite everything to at least be a miniscule light in a world he’s not so sure deserves it. He has to stay on this path, saving even a single soul might be enough to save his own.
Physical:
Long hair, tied in a ponytail, with his bangs covering his eyes, coated in a desaturated auburn shade, that evokes a dim, worn out flame, waiting to burn bright. His piercing green eyes, peeking out from beneath when a kind breeze allows the privilege. Despite what he would tell you, he cares very deeply about what he looks like and wants to be noticed, often adopting very eye-catching outfits in spite of his personality
History:
Ichika never knew his biological parents. He was taken in and raised by a man named Kazanari Akihito, the man he considers to be his real dad. Akihito was a missing-nin, with an unwavering sense of justice, followed by many. He would always do what he thought was right, regardless of consequences and unrestrained by any rules or laws. Ichika worshiped the man, wanting nothing more than to be just like him.
One night he took little Ichika aside. It was very out of the ordinary for him, he had a very somber demeanor the boy was not used to seeing from his hero. He had finally decided to tell his son the truth about what happened to his parents. Akihito was the reason he was an orphan. His parents were killed by none other than his “hero”. Ichika was far too young to really process any of this, the idea of who his parents were or how they died never mattered. It was surely an act of evil, something Akihito would never stand for… By all means Ichika should despise the man, try with all his might to take revenge. It was much too complicated for a small boy. It didn’t really change anything right now, so he embraced the trembling man, holding him tight until he fell asleep in his arms.
The thing they don’t tell you is this kind of lifestyle will always catch up with you. It all happened at night, shrouded in the darkness of a new moon. Shinobi from Kumogakure had finally found him. Not wanting to risk any of his comrades he surrendered peacefully and we were all rounded up and escorted to the village. Ichika never got to see him before his execution. He never got to tell his dad that no matter what he would still love him. He never even had the chance to say goodbye. He wasn’t a perfect man, he committed just as many atrocities as good in this world, but he still taught Ichika to live, to do the right thing, unyielding and unrestrained no matter what and that’s how Ichika wants to honor him, to be someone’s light, even if it’s a little gray.
He enrolled in the academy as a means to an end. There's nowhere left for him to go. Either he burns bright here or burns out like everyone else.
