Character’s Physical Description:
At the relatively modest height of 5’7, Hideyoshi may not look like much of a brute but that may change upon further inspection. His 5’7 frame is filled out by an almost unnaturally chiseled frame, resembling mocha-colored diamond, cut and shaped into human form. Cat-like pupils, flanked by golden irises meet those that capture his gaze. His black hair is mid-length and obsessively combed into obedience.
His brute-style approach tends to conflict with the more stylish contents of his wardrobe, but he always seems to have his black jumpsuit under his clothing. As Yoshi would say, “can’t go wrong with a jumpsuit.”

Character's Mental Description:
Hideyoshi likes to keep things simple. Headstrong, impulsive, protective and righteous. Bad guys get punched and the weak deserve protection from those with the power to protect. He acknowledges that this world is more complex than he would hope, but he believes that wanting to help people is a simple desire with a simple solution – just do it.
Despite his simple outlook, the man isn’t without his complexities. He considers complete honesty to be a luxury, constantly blending truths with lies in order to create a mask that allows him to blend with others like a chameleon. A social butterfly – some would say that he is quick to make “friends” but slow to trust. Life experiences and loss has hardened Hideyoshi’s view of friendship, believing that keep people at arm’s length is necessary in his line of work. He believes that an ally is a means to an end and that allies change as priorities or ideals change – occasionally turning friend into foe. However, Yoshi would do anything for a person that he considers a true friend. There just aren’t many of those to go around.
As “Reckless” as his “core ability” would dictate, Yoshi’s unrelenting brand of tenacity doesn’t yield to much, even common sense or failure. He is a frontline fighter, the first into a skirmish and the last one out. He operates under the pretense that “impossible is nothing,” recklessly charging into impossible situations giving some the impression that he’s chasing death. Honestly, that may have been true given the naiveté of his motivations.
Hideyoshi is profoundly inquisitive. He seeks knowledge of the world, its people, and their teachings. He believes that true strength comes from the heart and the mind of humans and that he’d be equipped to save more people by understanding how the world works and the people that inhabit it.
Though his aspirations are heroic, some of his methods could be interpreted as antagonistic depending on the party. Hideyoshi believes in doing what he believes is right, no matter what… and sometimes what needs to be done conflicts with what some consider heroism.

Character History:
Not much is known about Hideyoshi’s birth, other than he was brought into existence through unconventional means. His father, Ao Hideki, was a Robin Hood type vagrant – wandering from place to place, causing havoc and passing off the riches he had conned to people that needed it more than he did. “Altruism” is what he called it, and he instilled this belief of “doing what was right for the greater good” into his son, Hideyoshi. Though vagrancy was Hideki’s way of life, he wanted something much different for his son – choice. Rather than forcing Hideyoshi into such an unstable lifestyle, he waited until Yoshi was old enough to join the academy in Kumo and sent him there to find his own way. It was there that Yoshi’s story truly began.
Hideyoshi’s time in the academy was mostly normal – as normal as life could be for children bred to be weapons. He was never a standout student, shinobi prodigy or anything special like that. Instead, Yoshi was a fan of the hustle. There was no way for him to be the strongest in the class because he didn’t have the ability. Being the smartest in the class was difficult as well, he liked to learn how things worked but he wasn’t quite smart enough to be considered deeply intellectual. Nope, Yoshi learned that pushing himself to exceed his limits by working hard had its own avenue of progress and that’s what he stuck to. While everyone else was trying to find their way, Hideyoshi was scheming ways to carve his own path. He struggled to mold his chakra into anything significant so he focused on skills that didn’t require much chakra – hand-to-hand combat. While most students followed the standard curriculum, Yoshi snuck out of class to learn new ways to punch things. After all, there was no point in sticking to basic skills if mastering the limits of Taijutsu was the goal.
Yoshi, the Genin, wasn’t much different from his younger counterpart and perhaps that’s why he failed at it… miserably. A frequent cause of sophomoric mischief, he tended to shirk his responsibilities in favor of “more meaningful pursuits” to cure his boredom. At the age of 13, many of his fellow academy graduates were already being scouted and recruited to different branches and going on missions with other teammates, Yoshi seemed disengaged from it all. Genin afforded a level of independence and climbing the social ladder didn’t really appeal to him. After all, his lack of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu ability left him as somewhat of an unappealing enigma – no one truly knew what he could do and he wasn’t intent on showing off. Instead, Hideyoshi seemed to revel in his perceived “failure,” accepting the smaller solo missions that no one seemed to want and never truly going far outside of the boundaries of Kumogakure. After all, a fledgling shinobi willfully condemning themselves to mediocrity granted a sort of veil of anonymity. No one expected anything from a loser and a lack of expectations caused some to get “lost in the shuffle” of such a large village. Yoshi was no different in that respect. In fact, he remained a Genin until he was about 17 when a Jounin took interest in him – Akahoshi Sakurako. Her ulterior motives aside, the woman would become somewhat of a mentor to him.
It was her “encouragement” that forced him toward advancement within Kumogakure’s ranking hierarchy, taking and passing through the Chuunin exams with relative ease. Still content with being more of a generalist, Yoshi continued to operate within the Main Branch under Sakurako’s tutelage, completing missions as quickly as she gave them to him. Due to his reckless nature, he was considered more of a solo act, but his superiors in the Main Branch began to see the same potential that Sakurako saw in him. On the eve of his 21st birthday, Hideyoshi finally became a Jounin-level shinobi. From there, life was turned on its head for the man. His demonstrations of strength made it more difficult for Sakurako to protect him as someone requested of her, and his progression in the village cursed him with responsibilities that he felt burdened him.
However, “doing what was best for those that couldn’t do for themselves,” was a personal mantra of his. Maybe he was a bit late to the party but greatness doesn’t conform to any timeframe. His story began when most had hit their prime.
It’s Ao Hideyoshi’s time now.
