When she was younger she never stopped emitting an obnoxious amount of energy like a nuclear reactor. To be true to herself is what her mother had hammered into her brain. Because of this she comes off as brash when meeting new people. Abrasive and aggressive, this gets her into more trouble than her mother had liked but that resolute smile backed by otherworldly confidence never wavered.
History: Prior to the war living within the southern realm of the continent, the Tenouza had a very strict regime that affected the average way of life to those who lived towards the north and central lands. Families were allotted only two children maximum. Most families focused on having boys in order to cater and care for the parents when they got older. This was the norm for the Tenouza citizens, orders given from the highest order in the land and those who strayed off the beaten path were trampled over. Akane’s story had been no different, except for one terrible situation, her father had only had the genes to bestow the Tenouza people with two daughters. Females were often a lesser priority to men but her father had used his allotted slots. This had forced him to take his career with a serious vigor his wife had never encountered before.
Men within the Tenouza were directed towards a path in the military. This path was spoken with pride and confidence behind its name by the leaders of the Tenouza. As if god themselves had given the men of the world a miraculous gift. Their father enlisted for the betterment of his family and to bring glory and honor to his family name. He trained day and night to finally become a soldier. However, obtaining this title was no easy feat and many sacrifices had to be made in order to reach this medium and climb the high ladder into the sky.
The act of joining the military was a holy deed that many citizens sought after. Branded with a holy seal of his devotion to the people of Tenouza, Akane's father quickly began to teach his two daughters the way of the warrior. At a young age of six and her sister at eight, both children have been suspect to a multitude of weaponry, and a deep dive into the benevolent teachings of their god. Attending Sunday and Wednesday school twenty minutes earlier than the rest to gain the upper hand of a bit more knowledge of their pope and the laws of the land. Through constant exposure to the word of god their minds have been filled with the Pope's teachings. When out of school their father expected the very best from his daughters since he could not dawn the new world with a son. To pit them against each other in battle within the community coliseum with a variety of weaponry to choose from to fight against. Akane had always consistently lost to her elder sister. Thus built a rivalry between them, the petty taunts and squabbling after she had lost only strengthened the need to be better than her sister. In her fathers eye the eldest daughter held a sparkle of hope, and the love given to her had come in waves than the younger daughter.
One day the father had been given an ultimatum by his superiors. A chance to rank up within the military had been proposed. The duty called for the separation from his family, unable to fully part from them; the government had proposed the idea of allowing him to take one child. There was no competition for that spot. Without thought he selected his brightest pupil, his eldest daughter. Thus having to part ways with his wife and youngest for a few years. As saddened as Akane was, the mother had ulterior motives for her. The time apart was perfect to gain more distance from the people of Tenouza and move further north. The plan to move north had been devised ever since her husband had become a soldier. There had been something strange about his behavior ever since that day and she knew what needed to be done for her daughter to grow up independent.
This heretical nonsense had been overheard by Akane’s grandmother. To stray from the path of righteousness needed to be dealt with a reckoning hand. A fate nearly as bad as being found as a chakra user. The mother was taken to the high court, from there she and those she claimed were exiled from the republic. That included thirteen year old Akane. The Council refused to utter a word to her husband and daughter. Within a few moons the Koga family had been removed from their home, standing in front of the gates that had just slammed shut. Resentment accumulated in her heart towards her mother’s treasonous acts, but little did she know her mother was a savior hidden behind deceit.
The journey to find a suitable residence was a long one towards the north. The mountain paths proved perilous, that was until a merchant with a horse and wagon nearly ghosted past them. Her mother leapt in front of the cart and pleaded her story to the massive dark merchant and with a wicked smile they let her board under the circumstances that she told them their story. Hesitant she was, but with little options and the motherly need to protect her daughter she agreed. Time went on and so did their story and within a few hours they had found the wagon stopped in front of a massive gate that had recently undergone reconstruction. The sigil on the door read “Kumogakure”.
Under the guise of refugees from a poverty-stricken village the mother and daughter duo gained access into Kumogakure. Only after the fact that Akane were to undergo screening to be enrolled within the ninja academy. The tests were rigorous and although she showed no ounces of chakra manifested in large amounts in her system, Akane gained access into the academy. The year in the academy felt pointless to her. The basics of chakra manipulation were there but not as predominantly as the other students who mocked her. The mocking stopped quickly during the sparring sessions that were hosted weekly. Any weapon she picked up was given a verbal prayer and blessing before use, then quickly after was used to open up multiple cans of whoop-ass on those who bullied her.
The teachers took notice of these subtle hints, those with special eyes noticing a spike of chakra in her hands after the prayer had been said. With a cheeky smile and rebounded self confidence in her abilities Akane took a liking to taijutsu-based combat. She was liable to keep up with her teachers attempts at attacking and blocking, even startling one observer when a dagger darted through his apple when he made snide comment about her tactical abilities. The eyes of Jounin within the main and Anbu branch were focused in on her. Her fist struck her chest as pride welled up inside her. In the span of a year her superiors offered her the rank of genin due to her impressive combative skills and the obvious age difference between her and other academy students. Proud of her accomplishments, her mother was right by her side with her lips sealed shut about their true origins. The dreaded fate Akane would eventually endure against her sister and father crept slowly closer and closer to them.
