Character's Physical Description: Upon even a moderate inspection, Ren appears to be a simple young boy around the age of ten, complete with matching voice. If one looks closer, massaging the skin or meticulously inspecting certain joints, it becomes apparent that the human appearance is only skin deep. Its dress and style make it stand out somewhat, and its mannerisms and interaction with the world appears somewhat off at times. Its short hair is mixture of layered black and white, its eyes a dark subtle violet hue.

Character Narrative: This section serves as the BL/Kin app as well. The first section is an audio log discovered by Samejima Naoki on a mission. The log was destroyed along with the facility it was located in, with the only surviving records being Ren, which was rescued by Naoki and brought back to Sunagakure. The second is a report filed by one of the top psychiatric professionals in Sunagakure at the request of the Kage, Takahashi Sousuke.

Begin Audio Log - Subject R...

Trials have been progressing smoothly, despite his best efforts to stifle my genius with his shoddy research material and sub-standard subjects. When he asked me to create an autonomous infiltration unit that would both be able to mimic the human form and be capable of independent thought without the betrayal risks that come with associating with shinobi, I had assumed such would come with a research team and a vast amount of funding. If I had not known better, I would say the insufferable little power-hungry buffoon just wanted to watch me fail. Hah! When this project is complete, his thick little money grubbing paws will be so impressed I will undoubtedly be retained as his top researcher... Note to self: Re-record audio logs before making them available to our gracious donor.

*The sounds of parchment shuffling and the rearrangement of various small tools can be heard in the background.*

Now, onto the current project. Subject R has been progressing smoothly. I have pulled the brain from the cerebro conditioning station just before the moral re-calibrating sessions. While it is ill-advised to run these tests on an incomplete subject, after the incident with Subject P it seems prudent to take every precaution. If it were not for my quick thinking and safety precautions, I might have needed to reconstruct more than just my left arm. Sometimes I think my genius is simply too grand for my own good sometimes. *A hacking laugh can be heard from the recorder.* Anyway... this should make the subject more amicable to testing and less prone to wanton violence.

*More soft shuffling sounds echo in the background as steps of metal on metal can be heard.*

Ahh... Now where was I... Right right, Subject R. If all goes as planned, this will hopefully serve as the template for future subjects. The superficial resemblance to a human of its age is near perfect. Its outer membrane, or skin, has a realistic texture and give when touched. It will not be able to exactly replicate sensation, but it will be able to sense general location and type of contact. Oh, and I must mention the cooling system that will dissipate heat through this external membrane. Quite brilliant I do say, in addition to giving the illusion of warmth it will also keep the subject from an excess heat buildup.

*Another hacking laugh can be heard as the metal tap of footsteps continue.*

Unfortunately, I cannot claim full credit for all of the subject's design. Creating a synthetic chakra system would have been quite the task, however I am confident I would have been able to do so in due time. Instead our glorious benefactor provided me with some appropraited schematics that I have used to create the system from scratch. It did require materials that are... unavailable to me with my current resources, but I have created even better replacements. To his credit, our benefactor provided me with a supply of various carmots. Subject O was the first successful attempt at integrating one of each of the attuned crystals into a system that will allow chakra to be drawn directly from these carmots in a slow and controlled manner.

This would all be pointless if I were unable to complete the requirement of autonomy, however. My brilliance has, once again, dreamed up a perfect solution to that ultimate problem. Using a living human brain to serve as the central control center for the puppet... it is positively groundbreaking! Now, a brain can't survive outside of the donor's cranium for very long and so many precautions had to be made, but the possibilities are endless! I cannot wait to see the look on those imbecilic morons once they see the fruits of my work!

*The laughter grows more uncontrolled before it is cut short by a loud hacking cough.*

As I was saying... I will create a verbal record of my research in a future log, but anyway. The brain itself isn't enough, of course. No no no, the human heart is the center of the chakra circulatory system, just as it is for the blood. So, by extracting the heart and brain of a donor and implanting them in a specially designed case, it can be inserted into the chassis to serve as the central control node for the subject. The brain is, of course, wiped mostly clean through the use of biological engineering and careful chakra manipulation, and once wiped it needs to be put through a series of conditioning programs to imprint the correct knowledge template over of it. For these units that will be the basic shinobi skill set. Along with normal human functions, I have decided to include the complete instructional set for all of my work so far. This will help to provide the subjects the ability to field diagnose issues and repair damage with available materials.

Finally a conditioning course will be implemented to give the subjects the correct mindset and to wipe out any old personality traces. The brain is extremely complex, and even my own vast intellect cannot begin to fathom all of its complexities. Past subjects tended to exibit pre-transplant traits and personalities, and that could potentially lead to unknown factors. Unfortuately as with Subject O the conditioning was a little too successful, but I expect to have that worked out by Subject T or so. So now... wait, where was I again?

*The erratic sounds of shuffling books and parchments can be heard as well as some soft cursing.*

Ahh yes, the chakra circulatory system, of course. Now, the transplanted heart on its own is insufficient to provide the vast amounts of chakra that will be needed to sustain all of the required aspects of this chassis. With that in mind, I introduced an external chakra regulatory system that will use the heart as its foundation. The ambient chakra produced by the heart is filtered through the unit as it is mixed with the energy drawn from a set of five carmot crystals, one of each of the five elemental attunements. Note, I have tried to use a single and multiple of a single affinity, due to... resource restraints... but the mixture appears to have caused permanent damage to the coils and the heart. The subject should be able to sustain itself on a minimum of one for a short period, but without the reintroduction of the appropriate carmots, the system will break down resulting in a very slow and apparently agonizing expiration, as displayed by Subject P.

Ohhh yes yes, I had almost forgot to mention, how silly of me. The system passively generates excess chakra compared to the average shinobi, at least according to data provided from our benefactor. This ambient level does cause a heat increase, which as I had outlined is expelled and diffused into the epidermal layer of the subject's exterior in the form of heat. Now, onto my brilliant modification! Starting with Subject Q, I modified the coils in the subjects feet and hands to allow for sudden emission of this excess chakra. My research material indicates that this method has been used offensively before, and tests show that this chakra energy can be suddenly injected into an external system to cause nearly irreversible damage to a living subject's system. I will need to look into this further, but this should allow the subject to incapacitate a target without exterior signs of harm, especially useful against those pesky shinobi types.

In addition, the regulation unit is equipped with state-of-the-art, of my design of course, sensor units directly in the core itself. Should a unit be damaged, or its head removed, it will remain fully functional with only a minor loss in efficiency. In fact--the subject, retaining its human form, is fully modular! The only key piece is the subject's core unit, and it should be possible to even remotely control detached appendages via the chakra links, or strings as laymen tend to call them, even if the core is removed from the chassis entirely. There will be reduced functioning, of course, but this will also allow the subject to remotely manipulate other external units as the shinobi do puppets. I do not foresee this functionality being useful, but if the core of another unit is destroyed, another should be able to remotely operate it to a lesser degree.

*A few long seconds of silence are broken by a pained cough.*

Wait now... what was I... oh right, the design. The core is equipped with a sensor unit that is tied into the heart and the brain which can sense any object within a very large radius! Its chakra sensitivity will allow it to pinpoint subjects, living and non-living with unerring accuracy and will even be able utilize the chakra expulsion and injection system I mentioned earlier to cause serious harm to any forsaken shinobi that might get too curious... Oh, and this will allow the unit to function entirely separate from its chassis on the occasion the body is damaged enough to require significant repair. Given how awe-inspiring my work has been, if my research doesn't gain me all of the resources I could ever dream up from my oh-so-benevolent benefactor... I might just have to extract them from him myself... Note: review logs before submission to... benefactor.

Anyway... that all is to say there are not some... difficulties so far. Subject R has taken all of the past failings into account, but there are some that I have been yet unable to remedy, however they will be taken care of in due time. Given that this in an infiltration unit, its size is rather... small. This has required a significant reduction in capabilities that I would have considered mandatory. There is some level of future modularity for internal components in the appendages and head, but the chest is taken up almost entirely by the core unit. In another brilliant stroke of genius, I had requested that young donors be delivered in lieu of adults. Their brains have served to be more malleable while still retaining the needed level of cognitive potential. More importantly, the heart and brain are up to thirty percent smaller which allowed me to fit all of the other required components into the core.

I will admit, I had some small hesitation about using these test subjects... however, they have served quite wonderfully. In the future, I believe I will continue their use, even if I am able to slim down their space requirements. I am getting twice as many subjects as I was before, and restraining them for the procedure is immeasurably easier than it was for fully grown subjects. They do tend to be louder and more unpredictable, but that is easily remedied by an old fashioned mouth gag before I begin the extraction. Now, no one can say I don't have an appreciation for the simpler methods--I can't be wasting my meager resources on anesthetics after all.

Now, with Subject R, I have tried something different in the core storage mechanism. It is quite brilliant, as you will hear, but-

Esteemed Kage, I have performed my psychoanalysis of patient Ren as requested. My findings are inconclusive but highly interesting, and I request that Ren be assigned to me for bi-monthly sessions to continue observation of their development. Report as follows:

Mentally, the patient appears to be as sound as one can expect given the circumstances. Ren's age is difficult to determine within a single consultation as they appear to show characteristics of both a very young child, perhaps age six, and also characteristic indicative of a much older individual, well into the fifth decade, give or take. Given the data provided in the shinobi's report and from information that Ren was able to provide, this appears consistent with neural tampering of some design. While, as a mother and human being, I find the report and description of what transpired to be sickening beyond words, I will admit, my more academic side is quite heavily impressed on the near seamless reworking of the patient's brain.

Ren has knowledge of an individual, exceeding my own in some areas, and appears to be able to learn and retain information as capably as any of our more established shinobi. They have a faint understanding of where the knowledge came from, but their mind seems to have difficulty accepting the source of the knowledge without concocting some fictional excuse. This is unsurprising, as the mind will often tell itself stories to fix inconsistencies; but I have concerns as to the level of this fabrication, given the huge gaps in their memory. Given this, I would take much of what they say with a level of skepticism, at least for the time being, as their mind is still creating a narrative for itself that will keep their sanity from degrading.

I have performed some probing using genjutsu, as requested, but it appears that the means used were quite thorough. There are traces of memory, but nothing coherent enough to work together anything of the child's past. It is possible that some of the fragments will piece together over time, but it is just as likely that, as I mentioned earlier, the patient may subconsciously fill in the blanks on their own. I would recommend against further mental probes or interrogation to try and determine this information, as both a medical professional and a mother. While it would be wonderful to know more about the patient's history before this procedure, doing so is not worth the patient's well being.

As to your specific questions: I do not believe there are any subliminal instructions or brainwashing outside of what we already know. I would recommend assigning a chuunin to serve as a watcher for now, but I do not foresee any significant risk in allowing Ren to enter the shinobi force as a genin, on a trial basis. Their knowledge of basic and moderate level shinobi skills appears to have been programmed--for a lack of a better term--into the patient's brain. In a way, it is one of the few skills that the patient possesses currently, and by encouraging them to exercise that, we should hope to see further positive development.

So, it is my official recommendation that the patient be granted Sunagakure citizenship and to be assigned a position in the low ranking shinobi forces. Ren was a joy to interview, and if you choose to get to know them yourself, I am sure you will agree. \

Addendum: I believe I am sounding like a broken record at this point, but I again urge you to come by for a counseling session. It has been far, far too long and I am concerned that the happenings over the past years weigh heavily upon you. There is no shame in speaking with a psychiatric professional, if only to vent your frustrations in a consequence free environment. I wish to inform you that I will add this addendum to every single report I send you until you come by for an official appointment.
