Name: Kyo Hotaka
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Kyo is rather large for his age, both in height and weight. He stands at 60 inches and weights in at nearly 100 pounds, this causes him to appear to be older than he really is. He has a lightly tanned complexion, black hair that stands in spikes and hangs down his cheeks to below the chin, he keeps his hair in this position by proper and regular daily care. His eyes are sharp and narrow with dark green coloring. Kyo has scar across his face from one side to another that he received while training under his father.
Kyo has a single style he wears day in and day out, while he has multiple copies of the clothing so that he can wear a fresh pair whenever he needs to. He wears a red over coat designed by his mother with a padded mantle, a black sleeveless shirt, a pair of baggy olive drab pants, a sash of red fabric about his waist, a pair of black sandals that wrap up his shins with no soaks or warmers, and badnages on his biceps and from his wrist to elbow. On his left hand he wears four rings, the same as his father.
Mental Description: There are a few things that need to be understood about Kyo, the first of which is that the aura of self-confidence he projects is not arrogance, even though it might seem that way to those who don't understand him. He knows what he knows and perhaps more importantly he knows what he doesn't know. The second is that while some would consider Kyo a perfectionist but in reality it is simply that he knows that there is near endless capacity for him to improve and that there is always something new one can learn about their own abilities and should always be pushing them. Of course he realizes sometimes things are "good enough" and don't need to be improved upon, he will then move on to new things. The third is that kyo doesn't hold on to sentiment for it's own sake, nor does he let authority or conventions bog him down.
Getting past this one finds that Kyo is unsparing of both himself and others that are working with him towards a goal (excluding his younger brothers). If he considers someone slacking off or not pulling their weight he loses respect for them, and he has no problem with letting them know, regardless if they are his superior, underling, friend or simply an acquaintance.
While Kyo is able to care deeply for others, it is generally a select few (his brothers being the main ones). While he is willing to put in time and effort on maintaining or creating relationships with others, he doesn't have the patience for small talk and things like flirtation. He prefers to be logical and direct. It doesn't help that Kyo is generally a private person and appears to be naturally impassive to those that don't know him well. He also expects people to be direct and reasonable, regardless o the fact that most people are neither.
History: Kyo is the eldest of three brothers and the heir of the Hotaka name. While he grew up knowing he would have to take over and represent the family his parents made sure that his life was as normal as they could. He greatly adored his little brothers (and still does to this day) and would find excuses to spend time playing, talking and just enjoying each other's presence with them rather than train with his father whenever he could muster them. As Kyo grew older his father became more and more insistent in his training, and even began to put Kyo through training that would otherwise be left up to the academy and trained instructors. It was during one such session that Kyo "earned" the scar across his face, his father was angry due to another matter and believed that Kyo was up to the training, part of the way into a sparring match utilizing bladed weapons Kyo was to slow and failed to dodge an attack, while his father was able to pull it at the last moment, it still sliced into his son's face leaving Kyo his characteristic scar.
Kyo has finally entered the academy at the behest of his mother despite his father's preferring he stayed and trained with him. Kyo was able to get his agreement on the matter by promising to spend his weekends training with his father or following a training regime set out by him throughout the week on top of his studies in the academy.
