Years of Orphanage. est. 26 years ago.
Kyouraku used to be an orphan out on the streets of Hattori village, which is located on the outskirts of the country. He lived off of stealing food and money with a couple of other orphans and moved about the towns with not much goal other than simple survival. It is at this point of time that Shogi and his gang coincidentally encounter Kumo ANBU Captain Hisui and his team. Hisui decides to adopt Shogi and brings him back into the village and assigns the boy into the ANBU training corps.
Golden Times. est. 25 to 20 years ago.
After entering the ANBU Training Corps, Kyouraku received specialized training under the guidance of Hisui and being adept in the skills of shinobi, quickly advanced in training. These were the golden times of his life as Hisui was the first to make him feel the warmth of his heart and everyday was simply exciting and fun despite the dangerous missions they ran from time to time. Hisui was his father, his brother, his teacher, and his savior.
The Incident. est. 20 years ago.
During Kyouraku's age of 16 years, Hisui's team had been assigned with an infiltration and interception mission regarding a dark organization that was accused of selling Kumo military information across the country. The mission in the beginning wasn't a class for Kyouraku, but he was with Hisui, an ANBU Captain and two other professional ANBU members which was the reason for the approval of his participation. But things turn in twists and curves and the mission heads off to a nightmare. This incident, Kyouraku could never forget and would haunt him for the years after, and the death of Hisui taking from him, everything. The only thing that remains of Hisui is his half-broken and rusted sword that Kyouraku always carries with him.
The Black Smith's Apprentice. est. 19 to 14 years ago.
Years of just drinking his life away with company of women and food comes to a halt as he is saved one day by a local blacksmith on a cold winter night. He is picked up off the street while on the verge of dying and feels once again the warmth of heart. He spends five years under the blacksmith as an apprentice and learns from him the skills of swordmaking. It was also during this period that Kyouraku masters the art of swordsmanship and the elements of nature.

One would have thought that Kyouraku returned to his normal life but once again terror seizes his life. Upon the death of the blacksmith, Kyouraku feels once again the sadness and devastation that he felt when Hisui had died, forcing him to return to the life of partying every night and wasting his life away in the brothels and bars. Nothing was more important to him than the physical pleasures of the moment because people were all bound to die someday. All you could do was enjoy as much as you can before that time came.

Description: The blade used to be long, but after the incident that happened 25 years ago, it had become the only remaining evidence that Hisui ever lived and contains all the memories and pains of that day. The blade of the sword used to be of fine quality but after being broken, it had been shortened to the size of a small sword, about the length of one's forearm. The end was jagged and the blade rusty over the years of ill-care and mostly remained sheathed while the Hedonist was busying enjoying his life.
