Physical Description:
Chiharu blends in with majority of the children that play in the streets of Konoha. Her last medical upon her entrance to the Academy recorded her measurements at 135cm and 31kg, placing her right on track for normal growth and a common body type. Like many other citizens of Fire Country, she has brown eyes and dark brown hair that reaches her shoulder blades, which she keeps braided to one side with a pink hair-tie. She rarely wears her hair loose. Her skin is fair and lacks freckles, although she dearly wishes she were prone to them. It'd be cute!
She doesn't own fancy clothes, with only a simple yellow yukata for formal occasions. For daily life, she typically wears a black vest under a white sleeveless jacket with a hood and knee-high black shorts.
Mental Description:
Chiharu is a very determined and hard working child, as a result of being raised knowing that money was scarce. As such, she can often be seen as quite stingy and willing to haggle prices down for even the most minor of things. Due to spending most of her childhood playing on the streets and doing her own thing whilst her parents worked, she's quite an independent ten-year old and can be very unwilling to involve adults in her problems, unless she can directly see a benefit. Aside from that, she's a very social child who enjoys making new friends and learning about people. As a civilian-born, and living in the a commercial area, she's very aware of the rumours amongst civilians which could lead to some misunderstandings.
History:
Her parents are not blinding figures of power, or examples of shinobi prowess - instead immigrants from a more rural area of Fire Country. Her mother is a waitress, and her father a labourer, who eloped from their hometown leaving behind the rice paddies and the old man that might have been her father should they have stayed. With very little coin to their name, the Maehara's live in a small attic room above a grocer's with both parents spending much of their days working hard to pay for rent and food and taxes. The roof leaks in winter and the one window never really shuts properly - but the futon is big enough to share, the gas stove works, and the kotatsu is warm enough.
Having grown up aware of the struggles her parents have had, Chiharu chooses to ask her parents to enroll her at the Academy, knowing that even Genin get paid well for their work and wanting to help her family out. Despite that, she does honestly think being a ninja is cool and is certainly still naive to the nature of shinobi and kunoichi work. She's hard working and determined, but can be envious of clan kids due to their seeming advantage at the Academy, children whose families' don't seem to be as close to the poverty line as hers is. Prior to the Academy, she spent everyday playing outside in the streets or visiting friends homes, only spending time at home if her parents have days off.
