Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Main Clans of Kumogakure
“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”

First of all, the fact that you are reading this means that you are thinking about joining Cloud… so, welcome! This is a list of the major, active clans in our village. The clan of your choosing, if you want any, will become your IC family for as long as you carry that surname. This is strictly IC, so it doesn’t matter what you choose to do OOC, it will not affect your standing with the clan unless it falls out of the “image”.

Why join a clan?
Good question! While a clan does not give you any sort of battle advantage over anyone else, it will provide you with a close-knit family more than willing to help you grow your character and develop its plot. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get a political advantage if the clan is powerful enough! You do not have to join a clan if you don't want to, instead, you have the ability to create your own clan or remain clan-less.

What sort of things can I expect from my clan?
Clans help expand your character’s plot by offering a theme and a group of people willing to aid you. Some clans will offer an initiation ritual, and others won't, but nonetheless, something you can be sure about is that the clan of your choice will offer you an interesting storyline for you to take part of. What kind of story do YOU want? We might have a clan for you!

How to join a clan:
  • Contact the clan head/manager and ask to join their clan.
  • Edit you character’s history in order to fit the image and background of the clan you’re wishing to join.
  • Link the seal of approval from the clan manager (screenshot), or wait for them to post it in your Character Creation page.
  • Enjoy!

Good luck and welcome to Cloud!

:-::Saito Clan::-:

"Failure is not caused by the absence of things but the absence of vision."

*This clan is Kumogakure's Main Hyuuga clan, however a player may be Hyuuga and not part of the clan if they wish.
Overview: The Saito Clan are one of Kumogakure's second wave of founding Clans. Their genetic origins can be traced back to where Fire Country now is located and they are a clan which is very strongly rooted in its traditions. These traditions cover everything from who one can marry through to what branches of shinobi practice are acceptable and for whom. Having been around for hundreds of years in Cloud it has rarely shrunk and due to the harsh penalties, usually involving banishment, for betraying the clans traditions it rarely grows, yet is the first of the Hyuuga clans for this area of the world.

They have a walled compound on the outskirts of central Kumogakure. It is large enough to house all the members of the clan and there is room for dozens more families. At the center of each home is a garden which should be maintained, and used as a private training ground. The compound itself is formed much like one of the individual family houses, in that at the center is a large central garden, at the center of which is a dojo where the heads of the clan meet, and internal festivals (usually involving competitions of combat) are held.

History: The Saito Clan have been around since the second founding of Kumogakure, groups of Hyuuga finding familiarity among one another to form the clan originally. Thus though the clan was originally formed all from Hyuuga members, they were originally from various different clans, electing to take the Saito name by choice.

Over the course of hundreds of years different traditions and rules were created. These were created for various reasons, but all for the benefit of the clan. Often the most controversial of these is their stance on marriage. Within the Saito Clan a member, male or female, is only allowed to marry another Hyuuga, however they are not allowed to be currently from the Saito Clan and the person being married must take the Saito name. This is a recent change over the past fifty years from the original rule which stated that the individual being married must come from outside Lightning Country. This rule is the greatest reason for members leaving the Saito Clan, but has been a good way to maintain their numbers and stop it from overflowing.

All men and women of the Saito Clan are expected to enter the academy. They all receive training at home and within the clan. Trials are held within the clan among all members of various age groups. Those who perform the best are expected to join the ANBU, those who perform in the middle of the pack are expected to join the Main Branch, and the weakest either the Main or Medical branch. The head family is chosen bi-annually through a tournament in which anyone is allowed to contest the position, however this had gone uncontested for hundreds of years, but was challenged for thirty years ago when a member previously banished from the clan challenged for the title. The man was killed during the duel.

Twenty years ago however the title was handed to Akira Saito, the eldest son of the previous leader, and the man who it was expected to go to. Yet he gave up the title and cast himself from the clan.

A tournament was held and Akira's younger brother won the title.
:-:Branches:-:
:Main Branch:
Headed by:
Kibou Saito
To be Succeeded by: Gaibun Saito
The title is handed down by blood unless someone should challenge for the title

:-:Membership and Attributes:-:
:Birth:
All members of the Saito Clan are Hyuuga. This is maintained through the strict marriage rules in place over the clan. They are all trained in the techniques of the Hyuuga. The clan exists like a socialist state unto itself, the income generated from any family member is taken by the head family to purchase food, training equipment and anything else that is required.
:Any other ways to join your clan are to be listed here. (ex: Adoption):
If someone is adopted into the family they must be of Hyuuga bloodline and are given till the age of thirteen to awaken the bloodline. Should they not do so then they are removed from the clan, the family may choose to remain and discard the adopted child but most end up leaving the Saito clan.

:-::The Shinrya Clan::-:

"In umbris est potestas."

Overview: The Shinrya Clan has been around since before the birth of Kumogakure. When Kumo was founded, the Shinrya provided medical assistance to injured builders as well as resources from their land holdings in the Heartland of Kaminari no Kuni. As such, they are considered to be a founding clan. The clan owns a big estate inside Kumogakure's disctict for the well-off, owned in full by Shinrya Kitsune.

Outside of Kumogakure, the clan also owns two provinces, the first is known as Raimei no Seika, which is operated by the minor branch, also overseeing all production and commerce in the province and has a title attached to it; while the other province is known as Liancourt-Tsushima which is operated by the main branch itself, albeit remotely, and has a different title attached.
The province of Raimei no Seika was granted to the Shinryas as a reward for services rendered during dark times of Kaminari no Kunis history, and has been passed down from clan head to clan head since before Kumogakure was even founded. The province of Liancourt-Tsushima was bestowed upon Shinrya Kitsune by the Shogun upon the death of the former landholder, in exchange for her securing it against enemies of the state.
It is known that the main sources of income for the Shinrya Clan include alcohol, blacksmithing, farming, mining, trading and ranching. They're also looking into expanding into the property markets.

The clan is currently looking into expanding into construction as well, to improve conditions in certain areas of Kumogakure, and possibly bring some more commercial life into the city to increase revenue for both the clan and the village.

:-:Branches:-:

:Main Branch:
Headed by:
Shinrya Kitsune
To be Succeeded by: TBD
Members: Shinrya Miyako, Shinrya Kahako, Shinrya Akemi
The main branch lives and operates in Kumogakure, currently in control of the estate inside the village. The titles of head of the clan, and head of the branch, passes on through inheritance from mother to eldest daughter.

:Minor Branch:
Headed by:
Shinrya Gozaburo
To be Succeeded by: Shinrya Raiga
The minor branch lives and operates outside of Kumogakure, in Raimei no Seika. This branch, unlike the main branch, has their title of head of the branch pass on from father to son, except in situations where there are no male offspring, in which case a daughter inherits.

:-:Membership and Attributes:-:
:Birth:

All people born to the clan are considered sons or daughters of the Shinrya, and therefore fall under the jurisdiction of the Matriarch. Given the family’s strong Uchiha bloodline they tend to be skilled in the usage of fire, whether through jutsu, or craftsmanship.

:Adoption:
In order to be adopted into the Shinrya clan, it is necessary to marry the sons or daughters of the clan. Upon marrying a Shinrya man or woman, the newlywed takes the Shinrya name, and adheres to the Shinrya culture.
Build Notes:
  • Uchiha Clan: Due to their strong Uchiha ancestry, most members of the clan are born of this bloodline, though others are sometimes seen.
  • Fire Affinity: Most clan members are born with a strong affinity to the fire element, and often develop this element before any others.
  • There are traces of a few other bloodlines due to others marrying into the clan, so practically anything can be seen at times.

:-::Chigokai Clan::-:

"Our blood is strong."

Overview: The Chigokai Clan are one of the oldest clans in Kumogakure and for a time were one of the few bloodlines which was limited to this area of the world. The Chigokai thus were one of the great powers of Lightning Country and helped form and create the legacy of strength amongst the shinobi villages. More recently it has fallen from its position of absolute power, and was used to forge alliances with other villages as well as gain access to other abilities. A trade of different family members with other villages clans allowed for Hyuuga, Uchiha, Sunaku and other members to join Cloud and alliances forged between their origin villages.

The clan is matriarchal, the eldest daughter of the head family will never have any say in who she marries, her mother is always the one to decide.

The historical reason for the clan being matriarchal is that the only person that a child will always belong to is the mother. Thus the men of the family will take their wife's name, and the women of the family will always retain their clan name. For the women to not do so is the ultimate insult to the clan and they will be ostracized, for the men to not do so doesn't really matter. Because of this it was often the male members of the family who were married off outside of the village to further village relations, a tradition maintained still as evidenced by Chigokai Kushin being married to the Isaki clan, taking the name Isaki Kushin.

However in general the members of the Chigokai clan can choose their own partners. When a trade or union is decided on by the matriarch the clan will find an appropriate member for the partnership from those who are not yet married.

The children of any males of the clan are not considered members of the clan, or even branches from the clan and receive no support as such, unless they display abilities parallel to those of the clan, more specifically the ability to control blood.
:-:Branches:-:
:Main Branch:
Headed by:
Chigokai Ookami (NPC)
Previous to this however back to as far as clan records go the previous name was "Kitsune". The symbol of the clan remains a fox despite the name change.
To be Succeeded by: -
The Main branch is passed onto the eldest daughter of the head family. Tradition has it that she is to be named after her mother. Thus for the past 400 years the name of the leader was Kitsune but will become Ookami.

:-:Membership and Attributes:-:
This clan has long ties to many clans around the shinobi world. Due to its willingness to ignore those who don't hold the Chigokai name by birth however official ties to the village are rare.
:Birth:
Only those born or married to a female of the family are considered members.
Exception are the children of those with known ties to the clan who exhibit Chigokai capabilities.
:Any other ways to join your clan are to be listed here. (ex: Adoption):
Adoption due to bloodline or marriage into the clan.

:-::Santaru::-:

"Storms bright as day, lighting the path to glory for all those who may savor it"

Overview:
The Santaru Clan is among the oldest of Kumogakure, one of the founding clans who established the city originally. And throughout the years they've enjoyed the power that followed. They are most certainly among the most influential in the entirety of the village, having representatives and members spread out all across the village. This naturally garners a lot of attention to them, but they have throughout the many years kept certain traditions and their inner sanctums of clan business secret from any prying eyes. They price their clan above all, and all whose blood runs with the Santaru spirit is welcome among them. But only their eldest representatives may choose a young individual to lead them. This chosen can be of any part of the clan, be they noble or not. But only the eldest choose.

The clan owns and operates and governs many farmholds, villages and departments within and without of Kumogakure, which is both a boon and a bane to them as their attentions are sometimes directed at managing and securing these places if harm may come to them. They sometimes hire other Santaru in and around the village to help with such matters. Mostly to keep it all internal.

History:
Being a founding clan of the village, their history goes all the way back to the first shinobi to have set foot properly into the land of Lightning Country. The first people they encountered spoke of legendary storms. And upon a showcase of the Santaru abilities locals were quick to assist in the building the city. Ever since the clan has enjoyed a form reverence in regards to their powers granting them gifts and power in many circles all across the country. They've been among the leading parties and leaders in and around the village and great legends and stories of the clan's achievements are told as fairy tales and goodnight stories to children all across the country.

:-:Branches:-:
:Main Branch:
Headed by: Santaru Yoshi
To be Succeeded by: None found yet.
The eldest of all branches and families gather once the clan head dies or steps down to decide upon the next leader, among all clan members.
:Minor Branch:
Headed by: Unknown
To be Succeeded by: Unknown
Same as the main Branch. But they are intrinsically attached, in case the Main Branch leader dies or steps down. The head of the minor branch may be one of the chosen ones.

:-:Membership and Attributes:-:

:Birth:
The Santaru are among the unique bloodlines tied to the elements of storm and lightning. They are uniquely attuned to the small delicate shifts in the air, and when well trained, even able to call down rain, storms and even lightning from the skies through this connection.
:Adoption:
The clan may adopt individuals chosen uniquely. In all cases the Main Branch head must see the child to be adopted before being written in the manifest of clan members by the elders. It's mostly just bureaucratic management procedure than a ritual. And it is not uncommon someone adopts a little brother, or a daughter in times of great need for the child. Unfortunately those adopted has commonly much less of a chance of being accepted as clan head of any branch.

:-::Yamamoto::-:

"We Protecc!"

Overview: The Yamamoto are a mountain dwelling people who keep to themselves. Calling the Spine of the World their home, they aren’t known to be the most sociable clan although their hearts are pure. Their origins are relatively unknown although it’s rumored that their patriarch and matriarch aren’t native to the Lightning Country. Of what is known of them is that they are fiercely loyal to those that they consider friends and family and that they are masters of the medical arts. If ever there’s a terror in the night running amuck in the Lightning Country, or a war to defend what’s right, you can bet that the Yamamoto will be there to make sure that justice prevails.

History: Journeying from the Fire Country, the Nidaime and Sandaime Hokage chose the Lightning Country as their retirement home of sorts. While it might have been assumed that they would simply mind their business and live out their days raising their family, they instead integrated themselves into the Lightning Country society as citizens by way of the Plasma Accords signed between Konohagakure and Kumogakure under the reign of the the then Nidaime Hokage, Umashiashikabihikoji and the 10th Raikage, Ayumu.

In order to keep a low profile and not cause an alarm or scandal, the two retired Hokage, Umashi and Yomi assumed new names and new identities as the Yamamoto family and established themselves as a first and last defense in their new home country. The Nidaime Hokage, Umashiashikabihikoji became Yamamoto Musashi and the Sandaime Hokage, Yomi became Yamamoto Rei. With their children too young to draw any concerns in terms of not being able to keep a secret, within a short time there was little to no distinction as to if they ever truly were not actually natives of the Lightning Country.

Those naturally born of the Yamamoto have a strong alignment leanings. Whether it be the light, the dark or somewhere in between, the Yamamoto always make their presence known long before they’re visibly seen.

:Any other ways to join your clan are to be listed here. (ex: Adoption):
The Yamamoto pride themselves on having strong family ties. It isn’t uncommon for close friends, orphans and those wanting a home to find themselves being lovingly adopted into the family.

  • Note #1 Having some sort of medical Knowledge is a must.
  • Note #2 Being proficient in barrier creation is expected.
  • Note #3 To be able to express oneself in more than the common tongue is desired.

:-::The Ryuu Clan::-:

"Where life is more terrible than death, it is then the truest valor to dare to live."

Overview:
The Ryuu are a Lightning Country clan made up mostly of multiple farming families, but a handful of them live within Kumogakure and are mostly members who can trace their bloodline back to the last Elder Bloodline. The entire clan itself, farmer or shinobi, tends towards being a naturally curious people, and have a natural talent for at least one thing. Rather that be the most exceptional green thumb, or perfecting a ninjutsu that had been long extinct in practice, the Ryuu are a clan full of talent in every aspect. However, this talent also seems to be their downfall as a lingering curse continues to effect them multiple generations after the persecution by one of their own. This curse appears randomly and doesn’t seem to follow any specific bloodline but, rather anyone talented who takes up the Ryuu surname. This ruination is a madness that drives one to to their death; usually through obsession.

History:
The Ryuu Clan is a tribe that once could be traced back to mankind’s earliest days. Legends of their deeds and travels that once delighted the ears of many have long since been lost. They were a nomadic people who traveled the world with a purpose of finding and sealing away weapons that could prove potentially world ending. Ruled by three Elder Bloodlines, the Clan Heads were all chosen by lineage and rotation, meaning each of the three Elder lines ruled one after another and rotated through a specific order. The last of these heads, a man by the name of Ryuu Tengokai, was a person who many of the clan considered at one time to be the perfect leader. Aside from being just, yet stern, Tengokai had complete control over his own chakra and could master anything set before him to a point that it became an obsession to master the many arts of his clan until he had perfected every last one; many of which are still taught by the Keepers of the Tongue. However, his curiosity was insatiable, and once he became the Clan Head the man began to study the ancient lore that was only to be passed down to each new leader, before deciding to seek out the weapons his clan had long ago sealed away from the hands of those such as himself.
Inevitably, this was the clan’s downfall. The first sealed relic Teng went to seek out was a sword of darkness and destruction that housed an ancient being who wanted nothing more than for the world to fall into sheer chaos. The trek towards the weapon itself took the nomads through the harshest regions of the northern world, and that alone saw a majority of the Ryuu Clan either die or break off. Once the Head found the weapon and unsealed it, the madness the cursed sword held overwhelmed him. He killed everyone who had followed his mad trek except a total of twenty people who managed to get away; two of them being his wife and newborn son. Over the course of many decades, Tengokai searched the world out to hunt down his remaining family and uncover the locations of several other cursed weapons. He managed to kill all but five of the original twenty that had escaped him before finally being stopped in Sunagakure by his own sons and the warriors of Suna.

The Ryuu Clan of Kumogakure was one of the three Elder Bloodlines that saw where Teng’s madness was heading, and broke off long before they began to travel north as they dissented against the trek to start with. With them came the Keepers of the Tongue, a sect of historians who tracked the collection of cursed weapons and jutsu the clan picked up from their lifetimes of travels. Yet despite removing themselves from the clan, it wasn’t long before they too were all hunted by the Clan Breaker. After just barely evading the madman for another two decades, the clan finally found safety within the borders of Lightning. Posing as farmers with extensive crop knowledge gathered from across the world, the clan settled down as close to the shinobi village as they could and stayed quiet for another twenty years before the youngest child began to exhibit signs of genius that Kumogakure quickly scooped up; the daughter of Sukang, Ryuu Rei.

The current status of the Ryuus and the home to the rare few who wish to become shinobi from their extensive family of farmers, is all due to the current Main Branch Sennin and her tireless efforts to revive her once proud clan.

:-:Branches:-:
:Main Branch:
Headed by: Ryuu Rei
To be Succeeded by: TBD
Members: Ryuu Rei
While most of the clan lives outside of Kumogakure as farmers, a small part of them lives inside of the shinobi city in their own estate settled closely to the Ancient Forest. The members who live here are the current head’s immediate family, the Keepers of the Tongue, and any member from the farm lands who wishes to live the life of a shinobi.

:-:Extended Branches:-:
While the Ryuu Clan has settled in Lightning after the clan’s original shattering, their roots are in nomadic culture. Despite that a great deal of the Elder Bloodlines were completely destroyed by Tengokai, there survives a handful of families who can trace their linage back to the Ryuus of Kumo.

:-:Membership and Attributes:-:
:Birth:
Highly Intelligent/Insane: No matter what field or talent that shows in a Ryuu, even if their potential doesn’t quite match up, every last member exhibits an increased intelligence. This higher intellect comes with a curse, though, as the more talented an individual, the more likely they’ll become insane. This curse always begins to exhibit itself when a Ryuu’s hair turns white either over night, or during a horrifyingly stressful event. Ever increasingly the transformed Ryuu begins to become obsessed with their research and slowly but surely, enters realms of complete madness that tends to see the end of them. The rare few that reach this edge of death and come back always become legends within the clan itself.

Elongated Ears: While not a dominate trait, a lot of the Ryuu clan have extended ear tips that vary in extremes. Some are just slightly less rounded, and some are extendedly pointed. It is joked that their ancestors are the reason people created elves in fantasy literature.

Birthmark:
A Ryuu born of the Elder Bloodline will always have a birthmark somewhere on them in the shape of a dragon’s head. This symbol holds a special power that can only be accessed by consuming a human soul; a taboo so terrible that only the Keepers know of it. The awakened mark unlocks the Ryuu’s entire potential on the spot but with a terrible backlash that could potentially kill them faster than their own cursed madness. (Cursed Seal Variant)

:Adoption:
Due to the clan’s orientation as a nomadic tribe, there seems to be no limits on what constitutes a “Ryuu.” Anyone, from any background, has the opportunity to be adopted, marry into, or swear an allegiance with the clan. After all, they were once a giant family that boasted all kinds of people who once traveled the entire world.

Build Notes:
Preferred CA/Bloodline:
As the clan is mostly made up of a mixture of many bloodlines, it isn’t unusual to see a random kekkei genkai appear in any child of the Ryuu clan. However, many of them that become full fledged shinobi are usually not of any specific ability and just incredible masters over their own chakra. As such most Ryuus in the shinobi corps tend to favor the Chakra Attuned core ability.
