Name: Maki Kichiru
Age: 8
Physical Description: Kichiru stands at a slightly below average height for his age at 3'10" with a rather slim build and a fair skin tone. His eyes are a bright blue with his pupils slightly larger than one who had grown up outside his subterranean home. His bright brown hair is generally kept well-maintained at a short to medium length. However, his most outstanding feature is his bright smile, which has gotten him out of more conflicts with his parents and others than he could count. He may not be of perfect physical fitness, but he can usually always be found making new friends with his genuinely happy and well-kept appearance.
Mental Description: He is often seen as cheery and gleeful, perhaps to a fault depending on who you ask. Kichiru has, according to his mother, always had a smile on his face, attempting to find the silver-lining in even the most atrocious of events. While this has in the past rubbed others the wrong way, his bright demeanor has always tended to diffuse the situation and have the aggressive party simply thinking him naive. While that may be the case, he is certainly not mentally inadequate. As much a fan of study as he is of socializing, Kichiru can often be found reading all about his grandparents and their parents and so on. As a resident of Sunagakure, he had been instilled with a burning pride for who he was and the thousands of stories that led to his present existence. However, this pride never led him to act arrogantly, instead simply acting as a point of courage for when he found himself vulnerable or afraid. His ancestors had accomplished much, and their blood ran through him, and so whatever fear or worry he felt would quickly dissipate with only his trademark smile left in the ashes.
History: Before the attacks on Sunagakure by the Cabal or the havoc caused by the Djinn, Kichiru lived a rather peaceful and calm life. He had a loving family that consisted of his father, Ichiro, a proud man who always fought to assure the safety of his family, his mother, Aki, who always was filled with an undying love for her children, and his elder sister, Kasumi, who was vastly intelligent and accomplished in all that she did. Life may not have been always simplistic, but each of them cared deeply for one another, regardless of the daily squabbles that might occur. In a relatively calm part of the village, Kichiru would spend his days playing with other children as adults hurried and bustled all around them. At night, he would lay in his bed as his mother read him stories of the greatest heroes of Sunagakure and their exploits, filling his mind with a wondrous vision of what it could be like to accomplish such great things.
And then a shock was sent throughout their happy existence with loss of his sister, who had been training within the walls of the Medical Center at the time of its destruction. This sent Kichiru's family into a deep depression as they mourned their tragic loss. Everything seemed to have been so rapidly halted when his parents had received the news. It took them days to find the strength to relay the news onto Kichiru, afraid of stripping him of his grin and his laughter. Though, to their surprise, he instead reacted to the news by recanting stories of his sister, telling them how he was certain that she was completely capable of escaping her fate, however she had heroically tried to save as many people as she could. This was, unfortunately, not the case. Though the stories he fabricated lifted their spirits and left the family with a deep sense of pride for the late Kasumi. A pride that would carry Kichiru forward in his decision to enroll in the academy, not only to live on the examples set by his ancestors, but also to carry forward his sister's tradition of helping others.
