Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kaoru stood outside the Torre Celeste, nervous as heck she was shaking all over trying her best to calm down she took in a deep breath. She walked in, stopping for a moment to admire the architecture. She looked down to her outfit, a white blouse and a lavander skirt. I hope I look professional enough she thought. Ahead she saw a clerk turned around behind a desk. Kaoru made her way there slowly her nerves getting the best of her. "Umm Excuse me" she said hoping to catch the clerk's attention "I would l - like to make an appointment." Kaoru's voice was shaky as well as the rest of her body. The clerk didn't notice the small shinobi. Kaoru straightened up and gained her confidence. In a much louder voice she said "I would like to make an appointment please." The clerk was startled and turnned around in a flash. She had big red glasses and blonde hair. She appeared to have just come out of a daydream "O - Oh" she said in surprise " Sorry honey, I didn't see you there. How may I help you?" Kaoru couldn't believe how many times she had to repeat her request, but she then again repeated herself. "Oh you want an appointment? With whom?" The woman was very chipper and Kaoru's nerves began to leave. " The ANBU Sennin, Santaru Rin please." The woman looked at Kaoru with a look of surprise. Kaoru wasn't sure what she was going to do next. "If I may ask what is your name?" the woman spoke returning to her chipper voice. "My name is Kaoru" She replied. "Last name?" the woman said leaning toward the teenager. Kaoru put her hands together behind her back and avoided eye contact. "I don't know." Kaoru finally said, the subject was always an awkward thing for her.

The interior of the Torre Celeste had indubitably seen better days. The recent hostage crisis had left the place a mess of smashed masonry and furniture, and despite all of the hard work put in by crews, staff, and even Genin, the place was not quite right yet. Evidence of damage remained everywhere, and a fine layer of dust from the reconstruction coated nearly every surface. Even the lift was still out of commission while the administration awaited the delivery of a number of expensive, esoteric parts required for its operation.

Fortunately, communications had been restored. If there were but one thing that ninja could not abide, it was the inability to spy on one another and to butt in on private conversations with unwanted commentary. The unflappable Torre secretary merely took a note of the girl's first name in the end and buzzed up to the Sennin's office. The pair engaged in soft conversation via intercom for a few minutes and then the secretary returned her attention to Kaoru.

"Sennin Santaru will see you." She nodded to the tall, grey-robed, dog-masked man who had appeared just behind Kaoru's elbow. "You will be escorted to her office. Please watch your step and do not stray away."

The ANBU lightly cupped Kaoru's elbow and gently led her toward the grand double doors which remained propped open with heavy, rough wooden beams. The next fifteen minutes of Kaoru's life was spent walking up a seeming eternity of stone stairs, passing many doors, until there surely could be neither a single step left to climb nor a single door left to hope belonged to the ANBU Sennin. At last, the ANBU left her alone in a shaded corridor with but one last door. How did the Torre operate like this? It was a mystery.

Kaoru was practically shaking with excitment. She waited anxiously as the woman talked on the intercom. A few minutes later, the clerk put down the reciever."Sennin Santaru will see you." The words made Kaoru practically jump in glee. I'm going to see her, I'm goig to become an ANBU she could hardly contain her excitement. Suddenly a tall man wearing a mask grabbed her elbow. Kaoru panicked for a second before the clerk said"You will be escorted to her. Please watch your step and don't stray away" The woman put that smile of hers back on. They looked the same every time as if they were fake. The man led Kaoru to of humungous doors that were ornate and were held open by two giant support beams. The doors led to a flight of ever going stairs that spiraled into infinity. They passed multiple doors Which ones the Sennin's? Kaoru asked herself the same question in her head over and over again. After what seemed forever Kaoru and the ANBU reached a door at the top of the tower. It looked pretty ordinary, and was hidden in the shadows. The ANBU disappeared without a sound. Kaoru stood before the door, heart pounding. Kaoru took in a deep breath, and knocked on the door. The sound echoed throughout the tower. Kaoru food there on the cold steps, nervous as can be, waiting for the Sennin's response.

"Come in," Rin replied to the rapping at her door. She had patiently awaited this arrival since receiving notice on the intercom. The first trek through the Torre always unnerved young ninja, so she had adjusted her expectations accordingly. In the interest of seriousness, the Sennin had chosen a sober overcoat of charcoal. Everyone had a part to play. Rin intended to play hers to the hilt.

No chairs waited for her visitor. The girl would have very little to comfort her within the confines of Santaru Rin's austere office. Sometimes Rin felt a little guilty for prodding at her guests in this manner, but learning about prospective ANBUs' temperaments was valuable enough to outweigh such twinges.

"Come in" Those simple words caused Kaoru's heart to race. She slowly opened the old wooden door. "E - excuse me" the small girl said as she stepped into the room. The room was uncomfortable to say the least. Despite the brilliant mrble of the tower, the Sennin's office had an eerie feeling about it. It was dark and the only furniture was the Sennin's desk. The door behind her slammed shut looks like no turning back now she thought nervously. Kaoru walked up to the woman's desk, she then did a deep bow and said "Good afternoon. I am Kaoru" She kept he head down awaiting the response of the Sennin.

The scant light dimmed as Kaoru stood meekly before the desk. Rin's shape became little more than a deeper darkness in the icy gloom.

"What can a child with no ties to this village do on its behalf? You seek this only for your own selfishness. Do you hope to act out a bloody revenge fantasy? Seek your lost family? Reveal yourself as a princess descended from a long-dead dynasty? The ANBU are no fairy tale. I am no wicked stepmother."

The sussuration of unseen serpents whispered vague terrors at the child. All of the bodily horrors which could be experienced in the world had been experienced by ANBU and had been inflicted by ANBU. This wretched legacy was also what the ill-starred branch carried on its crooked back, hand-in-hand with the fallout of heroism.

"No one's daughter, why do you come before me? What is it you want in this life?" she asked quietly. "A woman who joins the ANBU must surrender hope of becoming a wife and mother. Her family becomes peopled with shadows and murderers. Her children are trainees. Her parents are captains. Her siblings are sword and crossbow. Is this what you want?"

The dim lighting only made Kaoru more uncomfortable as she stayed in her bow."What can a child with no ties to this village do on its behalf? You seek this only for your own selfishness. Do you hope to act out a bloody revenge fantasy? Seek your lost family? Reveal yourself as a princess descended from a long-dead dynasty? The ANBU are no fairy tale. I am no wicked stepmother." The speech took Kaoru by surprise. she shot up from her bow within seconds. What ?!? she thought. The sennin continued to question Kaoru's motive to join the ANBU. Rage began to build inside Kaoru. "I don't care where I came from" she shouted at the top of her lungs "Yes I don't have any links to the village. Yes I understand the consequences. She took in deep breath "I just want to become something, someone. Someone who can help not just the little orphan who goes on her merry way. By the end, Kaoru was starting to have tears come into her eyes. She looked straight at Santaru sama, she was more determined than ever to prove herself.

Rin leaned back in her seat. The kitten had a roar after all. She didn't encourage yelling at superiors, but Rin did respect willpower and bravery--if only fewer trainees and operatives confused those with foolishness and egoism. Rin's chakra-enhanced vision revealed Kaoru's flushed face and watering eyes and clenched fists--the girl was passionate, without the affectless expression of some of her most damaged peers. Kaoru was fairly normal adolescent, in other words... And that was a good thing.

"We all want to be someone, to do something. But you are a part of this village, however small, and it is your duty to protect the village and uphold its values, regardless of your station in life. In our culture, it is hard to be without family. In another life, if you had not had chakra potential, you would have remained unnoticed--lived and died unseen. It is our fortune that you were born special in the same manner as your peers at the Academy. Moreover, you were fortunate to have survived your last night at the Academy and been noticed in a positive light. Connections are valuable. Skill and knowledge are valuable. But luck is also precious, and something that cannot be practiced or purchased.

"If you wish to be a trainee, know that it is hard, that the rules are chains, and that many will hate you for what you represent rather than what you do. You only have one chance--if you wash out, then it's done. Do you understand?"

The illusion dispelled, Rin's office became less unwelcoming. Bookshelves to the rear wall appended a false window made by a Torre attendant's specialized genjutsu. Light filtered through, enlivening the place and allowing Kaoru to see more easily. Chakra lights bloomed to life in their wall sconces, providing lavender and gold illumination. Underfoot was a Kagoshiman carpet with an intricate geometric design. Hanging on Kaoru's left and right were scrolls with brief quotations in black calligraphy. To the right, "Timeliness. Accuracy. Completeness," and to the left, "And the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness embraced the light."

Santaru sama leaned back into her chair, a shocked expression on her face. Oh shoot, did I go too far? The frightening thought raced through her head. She took in a deep breath, calming herself down. The Sennin's speech brought Kaoru back to her senses. Kaoru straightened up" Yes I understand" she said in a firm voice. As soon as the words were out of her mouth, Karou felt more at ease in the room. Light flooded into the room revealing that there was in fact furniture within the office, underneath her was a beautiful rug, and on the walls were hanging scrolls with inspiring quotes on them. Kaoru gazed at the decor How could I miss all of this? she thought, but her gazing didn't last long, soon enough she back looking Santaru sama straight in the eye. She attempted to make herself look as professional as possible, despite her earlier outrage. All of her hope was being put into the Sennin's reply.

"Well, come along then." Rin stood, pushing the chair back behind herself. She gestured for Kaoru to come to her side; the Sennin would cover the girl's eyes, and then the two of them would be off on a magical mystery tour... To the Sileo Tempestas.

"First, we must get you sealed to the stone, and then we need to do some paperwork. As an orphan, you are automatically released from Fujinami Souseiki-san's custody and remanded to my guardianship. You don't have to take the name, but my personal name was Satou. My husband is a Takaki." She lightly ruffled Kaoru's hair, her touch soothingly cool.
