Previous Chapter: Part One
Our story presumes with Jomei hot on the trail of a crime in progress. The victim has disappeared in an instance. Jomei has reached the conclusion that someone has used a concealing jutsu to abduct her. Swooping down to the crime scene, Jomei only had seconds to devise a plan and take action or else he'd lose the victim and the culprit for good. The wind was still tonight. Signs of her struggles were so minor that no one else could ever pick up this trail after him: Jomei was her only hope. "This is out of my league" Jomei fretted, but his fear did not deter him. Examining the ground presented enough clues to offer the web-slinger a trail to follow. He found a scrap of shredded clothing followed by two blouse buttons, and an increasing pattern of blood drops. "He's amatuer" Jomei figured; recognizing the poor execution of the abduction.
The trail led him through two curved alleys filled with overflowing trash. Jomei vaulted over the heaps with the grace of a parkour runner. A small stream ran and was more like a gutter, creating an eye-sore through the slummiest corners of the village. Jomei mashed through it several times as he followed his target's zig-zag escape route. At this point the trail of blood had run cold and Jomei stood at a dead end in the heat of the night. "Come on, come on" he whispered, desperately looking around in circles. He ran out of clues to follow; or so he thought until a chip of lose stone fell from above.
Jomei's arms swung upward without a second thought, firing a webline that missed the criminal by a hair. The perp was scaling the building and just lugged the waitress' body onto the roof. Unlike before, Jomei got a full visual on his target: he was a vagabond in a dusty cape with unkept hair that was balding on the crown. He had a dirty, unwashed look to him. He wrapped his arms and legs in soiled, old bandages, and he wore large, magnifying goggles.
"Shhhhhh" the perp lodged a filthy hand over her mouth and demanded her silence, or else he'd poke her with his kunai again. He licked his lips with ever sign of fear she showed, and drove her into the ground before turning his attention to the main on his tail. He knew there was no use fleeing any longer, and awaited Jomei's arrival onto his playing field. Any second, young Jomei would follow suit and hop over the edge and then he'd take a throwing dagger between the eyes.
The perp stood there confidently, huffing and puffing, and ready to finish the deed. This part of the village never took on guardian patrols, and he knew it, just like Jomei. The perp knew he wasn't facing the real deal, but he didn't know exactly what he was up against. Jomei knew better than to attack him head on.
"Hey buddy" a voice called from the darkness.
The decrepit one looked about, unsure of where the sound had come from. He then heard the sounds of shuffling and random pops and snaps. "No, over here" Jomei whispered again from the shadows. His game of misdirection carried on once or twice more, until Jomei had circled him twice and saw every speck of his foe for what he was worth. Yuki had taught him the advantages of truly utilizing stealth, and he developed into a tool to create fear in his foes.
This little game was over, and the only debate was what to do with him. Jomei revealed himself, dropping silently between the victim and her captor. His flicked a string of web with the force of a harpoon launcher, and yanked his foe to ground with abnormal force. Captivated by the pain, the thug laid still until Jomei stomped down onto his neck with his full body weight to pin him down.
He screamed and hollered, but now was too late for regret and seeking mercy. "You are a disgrace to all ninja" Jomei uttered with a cold, angered tone. It took all of his power and training to not- He couldn't resist. Jomei slowly drew his sword, only a little hesitant towards an execution.
"You're just a kid?" The thug was entirely marveled by this unbecoming failure at the hand of a mere child.
"No" Jomei answered, "I am the ninja who brought you to justice." His ninjato glimmered under the moonlight as he raised and flipped it onto a stabbing position. But then, a voice of opposition interfered: "No, don't!"
Awakened from her blackout, the victim called out to Jomei "please spare him!"
"Why?!" Jomei couldn't comprehend her logic, and her call stunned him from finishing the job. "He was going to do something terrible to you... why shouldn't I make him pay? He doesn't deserve to live!"
The victim slowly climbed to her feet and made an effort to fix her blouse, but held it in place for the meantime. Wisely, she became the strong voice of reason; "There is no justice in murder."
Rather than execute the villian, Jomei pounced down onto his chest one time for good measure, and cracked a few ribs. A thick coat of webbing was good enough to pin him down. Jomei thought to fire a signal and call the village guards, but he wanted his enemy to wait it out until they just kinda found him.
