Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

High noon, the sweltering heat of the sun’s ray scorching the earth was almost unbearable and everpresent enough to leave even the most vicious of creatures holed up within the furthest depths of the Forest of Death. Yoshihisa had long since taken to going shirtless again, with nobody around to be bothered by it it seemed like the way to go, however as his eyes were never kept off the clock he knew the time was about to come around where he had to return to his duties. With creaking joints and the sigh of someone who was completely worn out only halfway through the day Yoshihisa hoisted himself back on his feet after having squandered his free time watching the clouds with rather turbulent levels of interest. ”Ehh, it can’t be helped..” After thoroughly dusting himself off he slipped his coat back on and dashed back into the forest with the hopes that he wouldn’t succumb to the heat before he had properly seen his student off.

”A few more minutes before we’ll see the fruits of your labor. Do you feel ready?” The same omnipresent voice buzzed through Izumi’s mind once more, by then he would have probably come to realize that it was this creature’s main or perhaps only means of communication. About an hour had passed since the reins had been passed to him and from that moment onwards the training was much more organized considering the source of distraction for the boy gone and Rokkoyō had an unquestionably greater affinity for translating the information in a practical sense. Depending on the amount of effort put in from Izumi’s end it was very much possible for him to succeed in masking his chakra signature by now, or at the very least in theory. Whether or not it held up in practice remained to be seen, but some doubts arose in both the summoner and the summoned on the presence of the former. Only time would tell if they had made the right call: Yoshihisa appeared with a muted thud on one of the trees overlooking the clearing. ”Sorry if I kept you two waiting.”

Yoshihisa sailed through the air and landed in front of Izumi, running his fingers across his face to clear the hair from obstructing his eyes. Despite the coat looking and feeling very much uncomfortable to an equal degree with the weather the shinobi had somehow managed to have his well kept appearance stay (mostly) intact. ”Izumi-san.” Warm was the smile he conjured as he bowed his head in respect to the younger ANBU, keeping the carefully cultivated image alive that he wasn’t invested in this any further than as a tutor to the son of the Hokage. Which from a certain angle was the whole truth. But before his thoughts could once more get the better of him his attention shifted to his summon, the two locking eyes as he spoke with a slightly coarser tone. ”Do you deem his training enough of a succes to put it to test?” Rokkoyō‘s own gaze lingered on the boy for just long enough for him to perhaps feel slightly uneasy, only breaking free when he finally set his eyes on Yoshihisa once more.

”That decision I will leave with Izumi-san and none other.”

Time had been passing by for everyone, slowly but surely. Izumi sat there, legs crossed and completely locked into focus. Breathing in... and out... and in... and out... All while he kept control over his own chakra... He tried to do his best while he sat there and for someone in Anbu in training, he did make one great mistake. He was that much focussed on his training on his chakra that he forgot to keep his surroundings in check. He never bothered to do things or anything and when the other landed it was without a sound. Leaving Izumi to know nothing just yet, but once the other spoke Izumi did freak out. A slight whelp with a voice that pitched a tune or two higher and the body language would easily speak enough. His back was fully stretched, tensed and the body itself would be tense as a whole. Second, later his mind got back to being an ANBU and started to reach for his arrows instead of his bow. In those seconds of grabbing the arrow, he started to look and saw the other male. Suddenly he saw who it was... and with a 'Pfuwah' sound, the boy let himself drop back to the floor, his muscles easing up but couldn't help then to hold his lower arm as the tension built up there in a negative way. Trying to stretch it out he lay there, already a slight blush because of his voice overpitching. But now that he checked his surroundings better... He saw how the other was dressed... Once more his eyes went over the other, checking him out and eventually thinking he had been staring towards the other he turned his face which had slowly become beet red... The same feeling he had in the Tea country was turning up and all he could think of was the other... But he himself lay there in a slim-fit T-shirt that was still wide for his own body build. As he listened to them both he tried to calm down on multiple things again and sat up straight, his arm still turning and stretching and his knees up high. He had to turn more and more annoyed because he didn't understand why he was getting this way more often... He sat there muttering towards himself. "Alright... focus.. you are ready.. you masked it.... you can do it again.. Just... don't freak out..." He tried to mutter in silence because that was his old habit, but the new habit was muttering out loud. "I-I am ready..!" He told the other two but his face still held that pink color on his cheeks and over his nose bridge.

The silence that followed Izumi's initial attempt to shoot at Yoshihisa was almost soul crushing for the level of awkwardness it represented, the older shinobi casting a quick glance at the monk while his head spun with the realization that they were nowhere near the outcome of the training he had desired. While Rokkoyō tended at the minor injuries the boy has sustained, it had become more and more apparent that there was a fundamental problem here he had to address and any repercussions on his end were to be taken with grace if it meant the results were tolerable. He turned to meet Izumi's gaze with a stern one of his own, his words having adopted a far harsher and almost chilling tone compared to before. "I'm going to be blunt here, Uchiha Izumi, that not only are you not ready, but that if I were to be your instructor during your ANBU exams I would see no other option but to deny you and judge that you are not suited for our branch."

Cicada were zealous in their efforts to fill the air with their mind numbing screeching as Yoshihisa allowed the words to sink in properly. It was odd how it all struck so close to home, that a ninja such as himself who had no qualms with judging how lax the Hidden Leaf could be now felt a pang of regret. However the station where he could take his words back had passed, and the bitter pill was now his alone to swallow. "The way you are now, we have no use for you: Sensitivity is a quality that has no place on a career path where you frequently have to kill your heart in order to live with the burden." His sigh was deep, weary and with a hint of discomfort. It was cruel upon the both of them, for he had no desires to crush the dreams of someone he could only see as a starry eyed boy, far from it. However he weighed his decision when he had to imagine the amount of hardship someone like Izumi would face if he continued to walked down the road he had set out for himself, or just as likely was set out for him.

"I shall mark this lesson down as a failure." His gaze broke away from Izumi's as he turned around to gather his belongings, but just when desperation would strike his next words may just help to ease some of the tension. "Before the sun sets today I want you, without my help to provide me with an answer on what it is that keeps you from functioning. Search deep within yourself and if your explanation ends up satisfying me I will give you another chance to continue your training." He scoffed lightly as he stashed away his shirt and seated himself on the boulder he had grown accustomed to during the training, only now with his back turned towards Izumi.

"And whatever it is you find, know that you don't have to sit through it alone."

Having that moment of panic in those few seconds he noticed something had to be done at this moment... The tension was to be cut through the air and the words were even more cutting. "I'm going to be blunt here, Uchiha Izumi, that not only are you not ready but that if I were to be your instructor during your ANBU exams I would see no other option but to deny you and judge that you are not suited for our branch." It caused Izumi to lower his head, same idea... Same feeling... Something he rarely got in his head, but these days more often. A gloom was cast over his eyes but he couldn't let others get into it too much. With that in mind... even he started to think of something. "Alright..." Izumi said, failed... The words even back then were harsh, but same as now. He had masked his chakra... He had the ability just was surprised at this moment. Yet still he wasn't good enough, wouldn't be good enough... "Thank you for tending to my arm... It will be fine, don't worry about the scarred tissue... I want them to stay there..." he said before he would mend to those. "They are my own burden to see what went wrong and how much I am still growing..." A deep dark that was beneath that piece of clothing he didn't show anyone. Not even his family. Meanwhile... The boy held that smile as he had always while in truth he felt like he could break down right now. Marked as failed... for a simple matter as being too focused... For doing too much your best was something that stung.

"Also... Before you say something about a book... Make sure you read it whole... not just the first chapter Sensei... Because that is a mistake people often make... Just the outside, the title and the author... the first pages and think they know the whole book..."

"Ryokko... Kodoma-sensei said he wouldn't go on tutoring me... Could you still go on with me? Train me further..? So I can prove him wrong? Because... sometimes a person needs to see someone else fall down hard and get up... to see what they can do himself... Yes, I might not understand a thing or two... Might not get it or anything... But so far... I have beaten two ANBU in battles... I know I will be fine in the long run... I want to be fine in the short moments too... I will be fine... I have had this once before, still do not get it. But could you please teach me?"

How events had escalated. The realization dawned on Yoshihisa that if he hadn’t cast aside such an obvious obstacle perhaps it all wouldn’t have spiraled out of his control, with it saving Izumi from unnecessary heartache. Whether he would be deserving of his forgiveness remained to be seen, the older shinobi being fully aware that to be hated was part of the hardship he had hoped to shield the other from and was in turn not handling it particularly well in this case. Yet despite this frustration all he could do to vent it was done by clutching his hands tightly into fists, his nails digging into his palms until he drew thick droplets of blood, stopping only after his digits had long since run red.

”The task is upon you to make to me reconsider the book, not for me to take you on your word.” As feigned antipathy could only smoothen out his act so far he could barely bring up the effort to pay closer attention to details: As he flicked his hand at his companions, it would go without saying that they had caught a glimpse of his blood stained hand. ”Dismissed.” Neither having confirmed or denied his assistance up until then, Rokkoyō promptly guided Izumi by the shoulder into the thicket all the while keeping his spear at the ready in case any hostiles were lurking about. Minutes went by in silence as they strode through the thick bush surrounding them from all directions. When the mysterious entity finally did speak, it was showing the straightforwardness his summoner could not, the tone in his voice solemn like before, although be it with a hint of concern. ”As I fear we might be at risk of running out of time before sundown, I must cut straight to the chase: Because he is an underling of your father, Umakaki-san isn’t in the position to get involved with your personal life. As you couldn’t give an answer straight away, it means that you no doubt can’t process your feelings for him, whatever they may really be like.”

He halted his movement, letting go of Izumi’s shoulder and fixating his gaze on the youth. Had the formless swirling mass passing for a head been capable of expressions it would almost go without saying that it would have been a warm, almost (grand)fatherly smile if one went by the aura it radiated. Being at ease in the presence of this creature would feel remarkably natural. ”Can you describe these feelings to me, and have you ever felt them before, even acted upon them perhaps?” With a tilted head he awaited a response, patiently taking in every word all the while dearly hoping he was at very least being succesful in providing the boy a shoulder. And yet all the carefully sorted words in the world couldn’t prevent him from being incapable of easing in the next message, a deep sigh very reminiscent of his master’s being all that stood between them and it now.

”If you look deep within your heart, do you think this is what love feels like? Not what your family taught you love is, nor what your friends think it is like, but you alone. Can you honestly admit to yourself that it either is or isn’t?”

Silent mutters were all that was leaving the male as for now. The words he had gotten back from the other about reconsidering the book were to min in Izumi's mind. Yet before he could even say or do anything at the given moment he felt the weight on his shoulders as he was being guided away. "O-oi..?" He said questioning and tried to look back... But it seemed that they were going for a small walk, which turned into a silence that was overwhelming between the two... Izumi didn't dare to ask much in this given moment and started to listen more and more towards him and more and more questions were given. "Feelings..??" He started to tilt his head, a frown appearing on his face as he wasn't getting it quite... the words after it started to confuse him even more. "So... Just because of my dad he isn't allowed to be himself right now with me? He isn't allowed to be loose but needs to be uptight..? But he is training me now? not him..?" He asked in return but... this he didn't quite understand.
”Can you describe these feelings to me, and have you ever felt them before, even acted upon them perhaps?”

The voice of the other was soothing... something he didn't saw quite coming from the creature as it almost made a moment. He was taken off guard which could easily be seen... Seconds later a hand got towards his mouth as he started to think. Having a moment of silence between the two of them. "Hmm... Lack... of concentration... A funny feeling around stomach... I cannot focus, just on him... It did happen once before in Tea country... The moment my body started to act up.... A female got to me and caved me in...." Why was he telling the other? "Nothing happened but someone saw the cave structure and checked.... She talked about knowing what to do with both bodies since she was both.. he... it.." He talked and started to lean on his hand. "After... I do have it sometimes... but... I ignore it... I think it is just part of puberty... or however, mom calls it..." He said and would stretch. For him it was just a puberty thing in his mind, not even having a clue...
"Love..?" He asked seconds later once he had said that, a blush getting to his face. "B-but... That is what mom and dad are.. right? With her... being that..? That they argue..s...smooch....." And with that word he pictured something and turned beet red, looking to the side and didn't even dare it.. "uhm... Don't know... Do not know what this love is even... My families never taught me..."

The more Izumi revealed about himself, the more the monk found himself rather astonished by certain practices of the modern day shinobi: They seemed to have completely (been) denied to acknowledge what made them human, thus ensuring that the cycle of ignorance would eventually start anew with their offspring. ”Correct, Izumi-kun. Despite his best efforts, while acting under your father’s direct orders there is only so much he can do. There is no true malice in his heart and it pains him greatly to hurt you the way he did, but out of desperation it was the road he has chosen to walk.” His hand once more rested on the young shinobi’s shoulder, gripping it tightly as if trying to hit the point home. ”But as I have no such obligation, I can give you an honest answer to what it is you seek.”

An epiphany like none before it, Rokkoyō was confronted with the fact that what had once been his earthly duties like providing council, absent in the Pure Lands, had been such a great source of satisfaction to him. Had he perhaps returned to this plane not just for Yoshihisa’s sake, but his own as well? Surely the kind of entity he was now was capable of resolving something that wasn’t meant to disrupt such young lives. ”While love is not something that is really meant to be explained, that however doesn’t excuse the actions of your caretakers for not putting in the effort to at least try to inform you. But you bring up a few fine examples in their lives together, where they argue and yet still manage to be closer to one another than to anyone else.” The kami juggled a selection of words around in his head, knowing that despite the straightforward approach Izumi preferred it was quite possibly the most abstract subject to discuss.

”Yes, if I had to describe love in the traditional sense of the word, it would be a tool to find someone you may deem worthy to spend the rest of your life with: What you are experiencing right now is called ‘infatuation’, often the very first stage of what we call ‘romantic love’ and also the source of your great confusion and illogical feelings. Despite that, you may have realized that it actually feels quite pleasant if you break it down, don’t you think? Perhaps you liked looking at someone and for whatever reason you wanted to get closer to such a person.” As he had to refrain from overwhelming the boy, another period of silence was brought forth and allowing them to each go over their respective thoughts. Curious to see how even several centuries in paradise did not prevent one from getting just slightly rusty. Rokkoyō would have spared a hearty chuckle about it if the situation had allowed it, but as he imagined there was a lot to take in for Izumi he refrained from it and instead spend some more time pondering on how to further approach this particular topic. ”If you find the -by the lack of a better word- ‘right’ person to experience these feelings with, the illogical ones will fade in time and you may still end up loving that person for who they are and you know that even though you squabble occasionally you wouldn’t trust anyone more with who you really are. But each love is unique much like the people involved in them are, and yours doesn’t have to be like that of your parents, nor is each love meant to last. Just know that while these feelings aren’t always voluntary, the decision to share them with the person you feel them towards is.”

For Izumi having all this, all the sudden was a rather strange aspect, one he wasn't familiar with on any type of ground and no lessons were given at the academy... Hence why that would have been a brilliant plan, but it still let them all remain with just a problem... Izumi had no idea what was going on and was upsetting others with it. It did help for him that he was with someone who was free to say, to speak its mind... Because right now... he was left puzzled with no clear thought on what was left to do.

Izumi felt how the hand got back to his shoulder, tighten a bit and then they started to talk after Izumi had said thank you. It was mostly because of this creature that he was going to learn a thing or two right now... Learn about who what and hopefully where.
How Izumi was placing everything together... He eventually signed instead of talked a short thing together. 'Love... is something that cannot be explained by a single human as it is rather different for any human to understand... Most common thing is staying together, living together, share their lives, secrets everything... Someone worthy... to spend time with, starting with this funny... feeling you cannot set aside and more you focus on it... The funnier it get's. Warms you up, makes you feel swirly...' more things were placed in as he started to sign... but eventually he stopped and started to scratch his own cheek which held the colorful blush on it once more. He started to look up towards the creature and started to tilt his head a bit sideways. "So... If... I get it correctly... I am... in a state called Infatuation... Which is why I feel this funny and... Like a magnet getting drawn towards him..? And... the feelings have to be mutual to get this..?" He started to ask more and more right now. "I mean... what happens if you get a negative response? What would a positive response feel like..? This... is so new... sorry..."

"So... I like him...? Maybe even love him.." He muttered softly.

”Correct, although the feelings don’t have to be exclusively mutual to induce infatuation.” Rokkoyō, despite the sense of relief washing over him that he seemed to have reached the boy, the task was now upon him to introduce some of the harsher aspects of what was already an imposing enough topic as it were. ”.. This kind of rejection can trigger negative emotions, sadness, anger or jealously much like how you’ve now been bestowed with positive emotions. But don’t be discouraged, for the other side of the same coin holds great warmth: A positive response can mean you’ve found a companion for life, someone to stay by your side to help you through the tough times and to grant you happiness you never could have on your own. Even the more insignificant things from the person you love and in return loves you can be delightful to such a degree that I couldn’t possibly describe it, as they are yours to experience if you dare to make the leap of faith.”

”I would determine that you may very well love him, which would indeed be the answer he’s awaiting to hear from you.” Rhetorical or not, Izumi’s question carried such emotional weight along with it that leaving it unanswered would quite possibly have repercussions. Undoubtedly even a more pressing matter however was that if he wanted to make the youth feel more at ease with approaching Yoshihisa he would have to take away the feeling that he held no leverage whatsoever, whether his summoner would be on board with it or not. ”Know that despite his tough exterior Yoshihisa too longs for someone to make him feel whole. He may not feel entirely at ease at the prospect of braving your father to get his permission, but if I know him at least a little he is currently breaking his head on the matter of how to get to you.” Had he been anyone else the laughter that erupted from the monk might have been considered meanspirited, but as an entity that seemed to be entirely bereft of ill will, it was quite the contrary: He genuinely seemed to be happy about something that he didn’t -have- to be invested in. And yet he still was out of his own volition, almost as if their troubles were his very own.

Realizing that he might be leaving the wrong impression on Izumi Rokkoyō was quick to come to his senses, immediately clearing his throat in an extravagant fasion in his best efforts to prevent an awkward silence from setting in, to no avail. It abruptly ended when he finally could no longer surpress the embarrassed chuckle that had been brewing. ”Sorry.. I meant not to disrespect, but I am just happier than is appropriate. But before we turn back, I think that you’ll be alright, no matter the choice you end up making, young one.” His hand raised up as he placed it on Izumi’s head in a caring gesture. The aura that lingered around them was back at full strength as would be befitting a divine and benevolent being. Serving to emphasize his words, he couldn’t possibly live with himself if he let the boy’s faith waver at such a defining hour in his life.

So many things were rushing through his head as for now... Why me... What now... All kind of questions even about the other if he did tell him how would he even react to such a thing.
He had listened towards everything the being had said in front of him... but mostly what he questioned about himself was if... And then what if was regarding the other if he did or didn't like him back... how would that feel.. He had said that the other did search for a life mate... but what if that wasn't going to be him. Many and many more questions were getting towards his head and more and more questions without a clear answer. "Hnn..." he was a bit skittish right now to go back... But in his head, he started to make up a scene already.
As Izumi walked to the other, the other would ignore him first till Izumi would finally say the name he was given by him. As he turned Izumi would stand there so proud, proud that he finally knew and as manly as he could he would walk up towards the other and make a small bow. "I know now what you were meaning earlier, and I think i learned a fair lesson today thanks to your summon. I also wanted to say that I feel attracted towards you and was hoping you too. Had this same feeling you have regarding on what my father is going to say."

In his head he didn't get a response... then again he didn't look like himself but more manly. He started to scratch his own neck in response on the patting on his head. Slowly he started to look more and more around him... "So... shall we go back...?" He asked the other but he felt a sudden nervousness in his stomach as if it was already turning around and around. "Hmmn..." he started to sound as the nerfs were getting to him. "W-why... am I suddenly nervous to go back to him??" He said while aiming to walk back already to the other one.

"Lets." The word was kept down to little more than a whisper as he scouted the path ahead of them. They ought to find their way back to the clearing in due time, despite the hunches that there might be some merit to taking the scenic route this time around. "That's only natural, so I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you." He tried to reassure the boy, knowing that it wasn't going to get any easier from here on out and as he followed in tow he wondered if they had perhaps sprung such a difficult decision too early.

Only time can tell.
