Name: Masuta Kurokku
Age: 11
Personality:
Kurokku, or Kay, is incredibly smart for a child of her age, but has no real physical strength to speak of. She is a very quiet girl, not for being shy in any way just for the fact that she prefers the company of her creations to that of other humans. Rebellious in nature, she doesn't do too well with authority, however she has learned over the past few months to keep her mouth shut. Not relating well with children her age, she can seem somewhat awkward to others, though in intelligent conversation she can very easily hold her own.
Appearance:
Hair Color: Auburn
Eye Color: Pale Blue
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 90lbs
History:
Kay was born into an average middle class family, her father was a cheerful, popular clock maker that often allowed his young daughter to watch him work. His customers valued his dedication to his work and the value he provided with not only his expertise but the exceptional customer service he always had. He was perfectly content in being able to keep the small house he owned with his wife on the border of Wind Country and Fire Country and food for their table. This allowed for his wares to be sold outside of Wind Country. His lovely wife stayed home with Kay, where she loved to be. Kay was a very happy and intelligent child who loved her parents dearly and enjoyed nothing better than watching her father work with the tiny springs and gears that made a clock work. Remarkable even as a baby she learned to walk and talk much earlier than your average baby and was reading by the age of three. After spending most of her days either watching her father work and helping him around his shop or reading instruction manuals on clock making she had learned to build clocks herself. However, she preferred to build things more suited for a child with her knowledge and by her 6th birthday she had built herself a pet - a small clockwork rabbit - and the small girl never ventured anywhere without her little pet trailing behind her.
At the halfway mark between her 7th and 8th birthday her business savvy uncle came to speak to her father about a business proposal and after much convincing the pair began to build the one of the largest clock making companies in the Fire Country. Soon enough the small happy family turned into a happy, wealthy family, living in a large mansion on the outskirts of town. Kay still spent most of her time with her father, clock making now more of a hobby for him rather than the way he put food on the table. Not long after Kurokku turned eight, her uncle put a plan into action to buy out her father, in essence taking all of his money, and taking the company for his own. This plan took a couple of years to come to fruition and it wasn't until Kay was 10 that her father lost everything.
The thought of not being able to provide the type of life they had become accustomed to for his family and the betrayal of his brother drove him mad and weeks later he committed suicide in his brother's office. Upon learning of her husband's death, Kay's mother went insane and had to be committed to a mental hospital. This left Kay all but an orphan and in her Uncle's care. However, her uncle had no desire to spend his newly acquired riches on his dead brother's offspring and so he sent her to Sunagakure to live with her elderly grandfather.
Kay's grandfather was a loving old man, and he cared very deeply for his young granddaughter, especially after the untimely death of his son. He doted upon her as often as he could, trying to keep her as happy as possible. Deeply impressed by her intelligence and talent at creating her clockwork pets he purchased her an expensive set of tools so that she could continue her passion. As often as possible he also took her to visit her mother, who could still recognize her young daughter but could not remember that her husband had passed and continued to ask for him. This reminder of her father was too great for the young girl and one afternoon after visiting her mother she broke down into tears and begged her grandfather to stop taking her to see her.
The emotional toll her father's death and her mother's mental state took on Kay was great. The once happy girl had became a brooding pre-teen and she rarely ventured outside her small room within her grandfather's apartment. She spent her days working on her pet, bringing it up to about the size of a normal full grown rabbit. After months of sitting in her room, only venturing out to eat and bathe, Kay's grandfather sat her down and told her that he wanted her to join the Suna academy so that she could get to know some children her own age. After much arguing and admitting to herself that her grandfather was the only relative she had left that she had any true respect for she begrudgingly set out to become ninja.
