Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The morning was bright and crisp with not a single cloud in the sky. The dome of the heavens was a multihued beauty with a line of blood-red light gracing the eastern horizon, and a dark purple staining the west. The moon stood its ground in a losing battle against the dawn with a single star to give it company. Silver mist rose up from the cobbled streets and blades of grass as the impending morning began warming the dew. Each morning had been getting cooler, each night a little more brisk. Fall settled upon the village of Kumogakure like a single fallen leaf gently descending to earth; a quiet precursor to the storm that was brewing. Winter was coming.

Jo dressed as he had all summer; his normal attire of black leather steel-toed boots, denim blue jeans, a black t-shirt, and a tan suede jacket being cool enough for the summer heat if he removed the jacket, and warm enough for autumns brisk winds. Over his shoulder was slung a large duffle bag; its contents, the gear he had selected from the Legation to prepare for the mission at hand. He approached the gates at a brick walk, stopping when he reached them and waiting for the rest of the team. Pulling a plain looking brass pocket watch from an inside jacket pocket, he depressed the latch at the top and gazed at the clear crystal face; his eyes adjusting so he could see the numerals around its edge rather than focusing on the intricate gear system within.

0617 hours.

’Good,’ he thought, closing the watch with a click and placing it back in his pocket. He liked to be at least fifteen minutes early for everything. One of his senseis at the Academy had beaten the concept of punctuality into him with a cane switch and the phrase: “On time is late! Fifteen minutes early is on time!” Needless to say, Jo had never been late to that class again. While he waited for his team to arrive, he prepared his documentation so as to make the exiting of the village as quick and smooth as possible.

There was a certain beauty to working the gates early in the morning--literally. The sun rose every morning at 6:10 on the dot... or, at least it had been at that point in the year. Of course as the months went on, the timing of sunsets and sunrises changed, but then, it was 6:10. Ten minutes after I began my shift. Yes, having to wake up so early kinda sucked, but when you're a shinobi, you have to be ready to do that anyways...

It was a beautiful sunset that day, and I remember being disappointed when someone came to be let out of the gates so early in the day--as the sun was just coming up. The top of the gates provided such a grand view for it, so having to go down and let someone out was a bit of a letdown.

I landed a few meters away from the guy, and saw that he had his papers already out, so I took them and looked at them.

"Hello, gentlesir, may I have a reason for exit?~"

’Well, at least security has been ramped up since the whole “Santaru Haru” incident.’ Jo thought as he was approached by a gate guard. The man took his papers and asked for his reasoning to leave, though the stamp on the mission passport should’ve been proof enough. ”G’mornin’; I’m heading out on a mission. Just waiting for the rest of my team.” He hoped the guard didn’t ask where he was going or what he was doing there. If he made that mistake, Jo would have to smile grimly and simply respond with; ”Classified.” ”I’m a little early; they should be here any minute.”

Kichida Kazuhiko

Reaching the gates, Kazuhiko could see that Jo had already made it, and was in the process of showing his mission documents to a familiar looking gate guard. He was the one who let me in just recently, guy must have drawn the short straw being saddled with gate duty so much. “Narashi-san, good to see you here. Are you fully prepared for this? And hello again to you as well,” Kazuhiko said to Kosei, “Thank you for your hard work here at the gates.” Contrary to the last time Kazuhiko had entered the gates, there were quite a few civillians and shinobi alike, waiting to be allowed entrance or exit into the hidden village, despite the early morning frost that covered the ground in Kumo. Though I guess that kind of undermines the idea of a ‘hidden’ village, but no matter. “I’m assigned to the same mission as Narashi-san here, as is Mochizuki-san. We’re waiting on our fourth member, Ishikawa Zaku, before we depart, is it possible to have us all processed at once?” he asked politely, holding out his and Tama’s mission papers as well.

Mochizuki Tama

“Hey, Typical-kun! We get to go on another mission together! Although, what happened to Sleepy-chan? I haven’t seen her around since the dance.” Tama was happy that she knew most of the people on this mission, given that Barfight-sennin had said it would be extremely dangerous. With performances like these, it was good to have a supporting cast she could trust. She didn’t know this Ishikawa Zaku guy too well, but he seemed capable. I suppose Barfight-sennin wouldn’t have put in on the mission unless he was good. Where is he though? she wondered. She wasn’t paying too much attention to the gate guard, as Kazuhiko was talking to him. But if he needed to speak with her, it wouldn’t be too difficult to grab her attention.

The burning in my chest returned as I drew close to the gates. I had only felt it a few times before, but the most recent was with the encounter of the guy who had a seizure or something at the gates. I beat my chest a bit with my fist and coughed, but to no avail, the burn remained. I ruled out heartburn since I had only been eating fruit that day, and it didn't really feel like that at all. It was almost like my chakra was being burnt from the inside. Strange phenomenon, but I had to ignore it. There was a mission at stake. Unfortunately, I was the last to arrive. Which, to be honest, was surprising. I hated to be the one who held any group up. If there was one thing in life I made it a point to do, it was to be on time. But don't get me wrong, I was on time. But not being first bothered me. Anyways, I came upon the group who seemed to be waited on by that very guy whom I mentioned before. Coincidence?

"Sorry to hold us up." I began, pulling out my passport. I gave it to the man with a deep breath trying to manage the pain in my chest. The ground at my feet seemed to vibrate as I stood. I actually began to feel chakra starting to seep out of my fingers; like it did when I would use certain poison jutsu. "Uh, ready to go when you are." I spoke with an apprehensive tone. This was something that had never happened before, at least not to my memory. "I hope this doesn't compromise the mission-- I should get checked out by a doctor." I thought, looking to the others wondering if they would notice the strange happenings. Perhaps it was one of them doing this?

Even as the kid, Narashi Jo (as his passport indicated), spoke, the other members of his party arrived at the gates. One was a guy I remembered from a day before, when I'd let him into Kumo. Busy bee, he must be. It seemed that he recgnized me as well, because he actually thanked me for working at the gates so much. heh, at least I was appreciated, even though it was my choice to work at the gates for the time being, at least. I still wasn't used to having Youko living inside of me... I needed to time to get used to fighting with him. In the meantime, I took the relaxed, if not boring, task of gate duty.

And speak of the devil...

I took their passports, and once again I was met with a familiar face: the kid I'd let in not half a week ago, right as I fell unconscious on duty. And, just as before, my chest started to hurt... not much, but the burning sensation was definitely there. It was more of a pulsation than a steady pain... like I was being warned. Like an alarm. And an alarm it was.

Flee, you fool! Rikuko is near! In one of the children! Can't you feel my warning?"

Youko mentally grabbed my attention by speaking to me. It was weird, listening to him when he talked in my head. Imagine someone saying something in one ear, then quietly whispering it in the other half a second later. It gave kind of an echoing effect, but the ultimate result was the how much of a headache is was still giving me, even after talking to him for three days.

Here?? But I can't leave... perhaps he'll simply leave us alone? Maybe he doesn't know we're here!"
If you think that he hasn't noticed me yet, then you are stupider than you look! If you do not run, you had better be prepared to fight for your life, or to let me OUT!

Youko's words were concluded with one massive burst of pain in my chest, no doubt from his trying to break out of my body once again. But alas, it was futile; my cursed seal bound his chakra's essence to my body, and he could not leave. What he could do, however, was manifest himself with my body... cloak me in his power, if I may say. And for a brief moment, that was what happened. His chakra bursted out of my body for less thank a second, just enough to cause my ANBU cloak to flare up a bit like a gust of wind up a girl's skirt, only much less dramatic. Thankfully, the chakra wasn't visible... unless one of them had some occular jutsu, like the Byakugan or the Sharingan. I managed to contain my pain, so it wasn't totally visible, but it still might have been obvious to the more keen eye that something was affecting me. With that burst of pain came the end of it, though. Youko was silenced, and I went back to normal.

"Eh, sorry about that. It looks like all your passports check, though... so have fun! Don't die on me~"

I handed their paperwork back, then began the climb back up the walls, using chakra to attach myself horizontally to the wall.

"Ishikawa Zaku was the guy I let in the other day... could it be him?"

"Heh." I chuckled at his joke. However the reality was that one of us may very well not come back. I sighed, grabbed my passport from his hand and went on my way. It was going to be a long trip, and I needed to get into the right mindset. I could not be distracted, and I was going to master this reoccurring pain.
