Character's Physical Description: A boy of average height, Setsu doesn’t stand out very much. He dresses in traditional garb, which is relatively rough and homespun. He has black hair that is tied up in the back, so it’s out of his face, and steel blue eyes.
Character's Mental Description: Setsu is simultaneously in awe of the shinobi of Kumogakure and scared of them. He has no first-hand knowledge of anything ninja related and as such his perception of his fellow students, teachers and other personnel of the village is based on wild stories and tall tales he has heard from others. While not the most eager student, Setsu is diligent in his studies if only because he is frightened by his own powers.
Multiple Personality Application: Just the one personality.
Character History: Setsu was born to a small lumber village in northern Lightning Country. Far from the city, and its world-changing events, the young boy grew up only hearing wildly exaggerated tales of shinobi exploits and the political turmoil they sometimes caused. As much as he and the other local children idolized them, there was always a small undercurrent of trepidation whenever the subject of shinobi was mentioned. After all, who wouldn’t be at least slightly terrified at the prospect of beings who could obliterate your entire town with merely a sideways glance being in charge of keeping the peace. It was in the best interests of all to just keep their heads down and pray that no shinobi would ever have a need to visit the little hamlet.
However, the Chakra Potential Screening Service regularly toured Lightning’s various holdings, derisively called Chaps by the less prosperous (but never to their faces), to test the young for their chakra aptitude. It was a trying time for many families, as this was one test that many wanted their children to fail. When finished, the leader of the CPSS delegation presented a list to the village head of the children that met Kumogakure’s qualifications. “Congratulations. Having five individuals with chakra potential is quite fortunate. These children will become the backbone of the peace and prosperity all Kaminarijin enjoy.” No requests were given, none were expected. The village head sighed in relief as he saw that his own daughter was not on the list.
Setsu’s name however, was. A brief, desperate thought of fleeing crossed his parents’ minds. But they knew that they would simply be hunted down, and the boy taken by force. In the end, he was sent off to the Academy with a few changes of clothes and a small memento, a piece of jade worked into a makeshift necklace by his mother and father. Upon reaching Kumo proper, the country kid was amazed at the hustle and bustle of the city. The wondrous new sights were enough for Setsu to keep the feelings of anxiety at bay as he and other new shinobi candidates were herded towards the Academy dormitories. After being assigned a room, Setsu was informed that he was expected to attend classes as soon as possible to begin his training.
