Being able to easily recover from wounds that would fell a normal man has filled Kinten with recklessness and self endangerment. He's not easily scared by dangerous situations and often finds himself in a situation better suited for a much more experienced shinobi. Grateful to be alive, Kinten is light-hearted and easy to be around. Upon first meeting him, it would be hard to tell that he's much more powerful than the ordinary citizen, aside of course, from the hundreds of scars covering his body. The scars frequently beg many questions and accept even more assumptions.

When people spoke the name, "Motomiya," they often followed with "rich" in the same breath. Kinten's father, Kim, had made his fortune manufacturing and selling soap to the world. The dangerous life of the shinobi had never been mentioned or considered by anyone to be an option for the path of life chosen by or for Kinten and why should it? When you're rich, you're rich and life is grand. Unfortunately, while the Motomiya clan hadn't considered the Shinobi lifestyle for Kinten, fate was forcing him down that path without regards for his family's wishes.
On the returning voyage from a distant vacation, the happy Motomiya household's story took a turn for the worse. They had been followed by a group of assassins hired by the owner of a large rival soap manufacturer. Danger of such an attack was always present for Motomiya Kim and as such he had ensured that his family was under constant protection of a security envoy while not at home. It was small scale Armageddon for those inside the are of attack. Exploding notes had been set up to trap the Motomiya transport. Young Kinten had been caught in one of the several large explosions. Most of his skin had melted from his now broken bones. Death was approaching young Kinten. It felt like the hellish scene around him had been burning for hours, but in reality, it had only been a few minutes. From here, Kinten's memory is moot. From what he was told, his mother and what remained of the security force rushed him to the nearest village with a doctor. The burns were too severe and too thorough for any conventional medicine to save him. After Kinten's mother informed the doctor that money was by no means an issue, he proposed the option of an illegal and highly dangerous procedure known as the Earth Grudge Fear. With her husband now gone, she couldn't afford to lose the only other man in her life. The deed was done and against most odds, Kinten survived the surgery. The only cost? Kinten's body was now riddled with scars and his mother spent enough money on the procedure to lose the company and almost all of their money.
Kinten and his mother eventually returned to their home in Kumogakure and after a long period of rest and recovery, Kinten had decided to enroll in the shinobi academy. He wanted to be strong so that he could prevent anyone from hurting him and his loved ones again. Although reluctant at first, his mother decided that this path may be the best for him and allowed to enroll.
