Name: Murakami Reizo
Age: 8
Gender: Male
Sex: Male
Character's Physical Description: Reizo seems to have lost his baby fat relatively quickly and thoroughly, his build already hinting at the idea of him becoming a very tall and gawky teenager in the next handful of years. He weighs about 50 lbs, just a little below average, but stands at about 4'7, somewhat impressively tall for his age. His pale skin and yellow-gold eyes hint at some heritage from the village of Arcadia, though it seems to be a generation or two removed. His brown-black hair is rarely allowed to grow beyond the length of his chin, but even at shorter lengths manages to be an obnoxious mess at every opportunity. Which would be why the boy has taken to wearing bandannas or hats or honestly anything to keep it out of his eyes. Everything about his build and features is sharp, with very few smooth or fluid or even soft features about him.
His attire tends to be warm, vivid colors, though scrap seems to be a little bit threadbare in places and overworn. His pants tend to fit just right in the legs, making them easy to move in, though they have a habit of falling down around his ankles if he’s not wearing a belt, and are rarely in any shade other than black or brown. His belts make up for that bit of drab, however, by being brighter shades, as do the long sleeve shirts he favors. He’s rarely seen without a black scarf slung around his neck, with a bright yellow arrow pointing downwards on it. Over everything he tends to wear a white zip-up hoodie, with the internal patterning varying based on the day. Obviously, the kid has no idea what he’s doing with clothing and very likely just picks something up off the floor every morning with no regard for how it fits in with what he usually wears.
Character's Mental Description: Reizo is a rather introverted individual, prone to turning into a wallflower despite his garish dress and height. He enjoys being able to observe rather than being an immediate part of the action, and is incredibly logical for his age, though it does take him a bit of time to come to these logical conclusions sometimes, depending on the information he can glean. He is most definitely shy, rarely knowing how to deal with people when they approach him, which isn’t helped at all by his soft voice. Honest and self-controlled, it’s a rare occurrence that the boy shows any amount of ambition. But at the academy, they have learned that once this boy puts his mind to something, there are very few things that he will allow to stand in his way. His focus can be something incredible and terrible to behold, should he decide that something deserves his full attention.
But for all his logic, Reizo is a rather sympathetic individual and overall tends to have altruistic intentions most of the time.
Reizo’s primary drive is an unfortunate one. He does not want to be his father’s shadow. While he does follow the same religion as many in iwa (including the rest of his family,) he finds it infuriating that his family is so intent that he is the reincarnation of his father, and is prone to spitting on his father’s name if it has been brought up in light of one of his personal accomplishments.
History: Nishida Hitomi was the daughter of a semi-influential merchant family in Maruishi, who fell for an Iwa shinobi by the name of Murakami Takauji after he (and his squadmates) protected her while she was traveling with one of her family’s shipments of goods. After the contract was complete, Hitomi joined Takauji in returning to Iwagakure, very effectively estranging her (and whatever children she would later birth) from the Nishida family. This bothered Hitomi very little, for Takauji’s parents, Kanna and Narihari both took immediately to the woman their youngest son had fallen for and she was treated no differently than any other member of the small Murakami clan.
First came Kaori, then shortly after her, Satoko. Takauji continued to provide for his family by doing various jobs as a shinobi for the village, increasingly dangerous until one day, after Hitomi was pregnant with their third child, Hitomi was informed that Takauji had perished serving the village. He would be returned to the Five Elements, and hopefully be reincarnated, perhaps even into the child that Hitomi now bore.
Reizo was born shortly thereafter.
Hyotaru, Takauji’s eldest brother, had lost his wife in a similar incident to the one that cost Takauji his life, and determined that he would likely be the best one to help ease Hitomi’s sorrows. Though the two never married, nor have ever shown any romantic intentions towards each other, Reizo would know no other father than Hyotaru, and perhaps his grandfather.
From a young age, all of those with the name Murakami claimed that Reizo was a spitting image of his father, and that surely Takauji’s soul had already returned to the earth to help ease the sorrows of his family. Even in his attitudes, Reizo’s resemblance to his deceased father is impressive.
Unfortunately, when Reizo expressed interest in becoming a shinobi of Iwa, something seemed to break in Hitomi. Her mind apparently couldn’t handle the similarities between Reizo and his father, and now rarely can she keep straight that Takauji is dead and Reizo is his far younger son. She occasionally falls into spells where she believes she is back in Maruishi, before she left with Takauji, which is particularly stressful for the Murakami household. Kaori now spends most of her time home trying to tend to their mother, while Kaori and Reizo both have begun to follow the path of Shinobi.
Reizo has done little to nothing to distinguish himself from any other student, though any Iwa Shinobi who knew Takauji may see the resemblance to his father and it is often remarked upon.
