Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It appeared the nightmare was going to soon begin in the Wind Country known as the Daimyo pulling the strings again as fliers had been hung all over the country advertising the intervillage examinations. Was it honestly all that surprising that the Daimyo was pulling a trick like this out of his sleeve after being the instigator for the Cabel attack on the the village? No, it really wasn't, but this monster was stirring trouble internationally now with an intervillage examination and the world would see any trouble, death or pain and suffering sustained as the fault of the Sand shinobi which was something that nobody even our hero could take. It was one thing to live in constant fear of an oppressing leadership like the Daimyo, but to make this fear into something stronger was cynical and downright insane. This foolish leader of his country was going to start a war that even he could not stop if anything went wrong during these examinations. But really, what was one little shinobi who was a demigod going to do about the Daimyo of his country? He couldn't go and assassinate the man as that would be suicide waiting for him. He also couldn't go with his brother Kuro since he didn't trust that bastard at this time and he had a family to care for. What would his children or his wife do if their loved one was carried back in a coffin to the village? There was simply nothing he could really do...

Wait, there was one thing that he could do! He could at least warn the foreigners that he saw about the Daimyo or at the very least warn them to be careful. Yeah, that sounds like a "brilliant" idea. Okay, it wasn't the best idea but he could at least try to be a good hostess and look out for them. That sounds better...

So where was Kyuji currently hiding out at? Well, he wasn't really hiding anywhere as he was in the streets of Soons Haven monitoring the area for suspicious activity and making sure everything was running as smoothly as possible. There was the occasional little kid running around trying to pickpocket people but they were quickly stopped by the buyers of these goods and wares that the merchants were selling. However, the man known as Byakko was obviously sticking out like a sore thumb as he was wearing fancy clothing for this area of the village being a dress shirt, tie and top-hat. He was however wearing a shroud that was hiding most of his clothing and physical features. As for his feline-like eyes, they were relaxed right now as he was leaning against a wall observing the area that he was in with the occasionally closing of his eyes to allow his little adorable neko-like ears do their work listening around him to make sure everything was sounding right. Exactly why was a medic doing the work of a normal shinobi or ANBU? There was no definitive answer to that question, but he just was concerned for his village, his own country and for everyone that was a foreigner. Nobody needed to have to deal with a shitstorm from this horrible Daimyo that they lived under.

However, hopefully, something would come up to keep his interest as he was slowly growing bored at the lack of excitement and turmoil. Just because he lived and breathed his medical arts did not mean that he lived an exciting life? No, he had slowly become cold when it came to the medical arts as it was always the same: people died, people lived, and people were scarred for their lives. There was really nothing he could do in some situations as their time was just up and Byakko or their own god would be taking them away hopefully to go to a paradise and not a hellish infamy where they would eternally suffer. But, the afterlife was not his job, his job was to save people to the best of his ability and if he couldn't, he would have to let Byakko end their suffering for them or their respective god.

Nanashi was quite surprised by what he saw when he traveled from Kumogakure. He may live in the outlands of Lightning Country, but travelling to a different country altogether was a different experience. The journey itself was hard and against the harsh nature, it wasn't really that great. But he got to know more of the comrades he was traveling with though he wondered if it were better had he gone with his other classmates. After all, he merely hitched a ride with a few of the older shinobis to reach this place in one piece. Nevertheless, the moment they set foot into Soon's Haven, they went to their separate ways and so Nanashi was left on his own.

Thus, as he walked along the streets of this rather strange, new yet almost homey place (probably because it reminded him of the denser streets of Port Cirrus) he couldn't help but notice the stark discrepancy between the people that lived there. And it was due to his prolonged observance that he failed to see what was in front of him. He bumped into a large man carrying some wares and was hit by another from behind. He quickly had to apologize for almost making the man drop all of his wares.

When that was done and he went back to looking around, he found more interesting things in curio shops with front displays. He noticed that some of the shops where also selling tribal wares and he was deeply fascinated by those. In fact, to his surprise, he caught on a headband with sewed on beads that reminded me of the patterns from the Bear-Marsh books he would often read back home. Still, did that mean that certain ethnic groups were connected even if they were miles away?

"Interesting... there's more to the world. Maybe I can find more information. Maybe my parents were migrants after all,"
he said as he picked out the headband and was about to buy it, when suddenly his hand could not find his wallet.

And almost instantly, the shopkeeper's face turned sour and shooed him off.

The young Yamazaki Akihiko was here, in Sand, in a situation quite akin to his peer and friend, Iolanta. His grandparents always attended any exams they could. "To see the new generation in all their glory," they said. Honestly, Akihiko couldn't care less. Yes, this was his first time leaving the village, as well as his first time seeing the exams, but really now..... He was supposed to be preparing to do this himself for the future. He had to wait until he was back in Cloud to train - so says his grandparents. He had to be careful in another village. At least, so says his grandparents.

As such, this particular day, three darker-skinned people - all sporting six arms - ventured out around this new place, doing as the tourists do. Buying random things and mingling with the locals. At least, all but the youngest were; he was merely following along, six arms crossed, using a thin piece of webbing like gum. For whatever reason. Don't ask.

As they walked, Akihiko noted rather lazily (the heat was making him tired) that Iolanta was here. Huh, what are the odds? She was next to that one boy he briefly met at the Hot Springs. Manachi or something. He nudged his grandmother, pointing his friend out. "Can I go say hi?" Of course, she nodded; she usually let him have free reign. Learning from mistakes and all that.

He walked over, blowing a bubble that was as strong as steel. Because he's awesome, of course. "Hey Iolanta. Didn't know you were out here." He gave a small, half-hearted smile before letting his expression fall back into a bored visage. The smile looked a bit painful on his face. He wasn't a smiler.

Man for being a demigod, it did not make the descendant of Byakko's life anymore easier or entertaining. He was slowly growing bored and needed to drive his attention up so he decided to play a little trick with whoever would decide to interact with him as he put his hands together and transformed into a younger version of himself wearing red clothing instead of his traditional black attire and his shroud had seemingly disappointed. In all instances, it made more sense as a sore thumb to blend into the crowd as villagers and shinobi from throughout the world were coming for the intervillage examinations and definitely were bringing their children along to either watch the exams or at least let the children entertain themselves. The feline-like god was hoping for the earlier view as it would make the Medics and ANBU's jobs easier and there were be far less medical attention needed to treat injuries and more time to focus on each patient individually instead of slapping them up with an advanced medical technique and having them go about their day. Unfortunately, the majority of parents were seeming to be neglectful of their children and letting them do as they pleased which was causing an already contentious area of the country to slowly begin to escalate even more. As noted earlier, Soon's Haven was not the most ideal area for anyone especially children with the corruption associated with the merchants along with what went down after the lights illuminated the streets which will not be mentioned as it is too graphic for children to know. Just think along the lines of drugs, sex and alcohol and you are on the right track.

As was aforementioned, Kyuji would see a merchant and a customer bickering over the hassling price of an exotic piece of pottery before physical altercations began with fists being thrown. He would have stepped in but there were other Sand shinobi watching the streets that pulled the men away from one another but not without kicking and screaming from both men along with slurs being spoken to the shinobi. Yep, Soon's Haven, Ladies and Gentlemen. This was a reoccurring issue along with the prostitution, heavy booze and excessively drug use and smuggling. If anyone knew this area was corrupt like this, it was our hero in this story as he had eliminated two Bingo Book targets in brothel before and returned their decapitated heads back to the office where he claimed his reward with much chagrin from the payer. He also had returned to this area before to purchase gifts for his squad that he was going to form and his wife when he met the Daimyo's daughter in these very streets. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you feel about the Daimyo, he did not murder the woman in cold blood when he had the chance but instead played a white knight role and kept her from being killed by outsiders that were trying to identify as Stone shinobi, yet they didn't fit the role at all and he would know since he was a former Stone shinobi himself. In either case, he had gotten her back to her "home" and went about his night back to his home with no funny business happening between them.

Back to the present, it appeared there was going to be more excitement in his day as he saw not one but four unfamiliar faces entering his general location with one actually approaching him directly with a black kitten in his arms. The kitten was an adorable creature to say the least as it mewed in his arms as he was called cool by the little boy. A slight smirk actually appeared on his face at the comment as he patted the shorter male on his hand and said graciously: "Thank you, Sir. I am assuming that is your sister over there since she looks strikingly similar to you and those would be her friends? You all are not from around here, are you?" His questions were all valid considering the appearance of all of these children did not resemble a normal Sand shinobi or villager. The only one that actually looked close to an actual Sand shinobi was the dark-skinned male with the afro, but his afro and clothing easily showed he wasn't from the area. They all were wearing clothing much too heavy for the desert heat which would be evident soon as they would be sweating to get cool along with trying to seek shelter from the sun that was beating down. To be fair to them, Kyuji also was wearing clothes that were not traditional of a Sand shinobi but he also was a mix of Stone and Sand backgrounds and his body had adjusted over time with the temperature and humidity associated with living in a desert. There was also the fact that he had made sure to learn water ninjutsu in case he got into a sticky situation and needed to rely on his skills to get him a necessity to live.

In the current situation, the boy could introduce his sister and her friends or choose to just talk to the man alone. Neither way, Kyuji would be a good smol hostess and make sure that everything they needed would be fulfilled.

I appreciate the drawing from Iolanta but as she and I discussed, it was a little too young for Kyuji so assume a transformation. Kyuji is 6 feet tall but under this transformation he is closer to a Genin's height. You can decide the height, I don't mind.]

Nanashi managed not to get into too much of an argument with the shop, though he swore he did bring his wallet. This was bad. He had no other means of providing himself. And with the exam closing in, he had to prepare. Not to mention he didn’t really know anyone in this country. It felt like the first day he arrived in Kumogakure all over again. A nobody in a large city. The only difference was that he knew how to get back home back then. Now, however, he was miles and miles away from his beloved port town.

Just then, he heard a meek voice and turned to find Iolanta. For a moment, he was quiet, uncertain about how to respond. He and the girl have met several times but they never really got to talk much. At least now, however, she seemed more than willing to be the first to speak. “Ah, Mitsuki, right?” he said as he tried to remember her name, though she didn’t introduce herself to him directly, he had overhead it multiple times by now.

“The truth is… I think I lost my wallet,” he said rather bluntly before they were joined by another. This one he knew from the hot springs and from their latest mission in the mountains. “Oh, Aki, I’m surprised you’re here. Are you entering the examination?” he said before proceeding to pat on the afro. He knew it would piss off the boy but he liked doing it. After all, he felt like the boy was a sort of young sibling to pick on… affectionately. Everyone in cloud was family, after all.

“In any case, I need to get back my wallet, or at least earn some cash or I won’t be able to survive.”

Shikai had decided to take a stroll down memory lane and revisit his old home. The streets were busy as ever, and because of the exam all manner of people were to be seen. When last he was here he an his mother were the only Six armed people in the are so suddenly seeing not one, not two, but the whole heap of six people walking around wit just the same physical extensions as himself was a welcomed sight. He could tell that they were not from sand though. Mostly the way they carried themselves in the sand. Not used to walking on something that shifts beneath them on a daily basis.

As he didn't want to lurk around he went closer to see what they were doing. They seemed to be shopping just like ordinary people. All except for one at least. The youngest one had found some friends, clearly not from sand either, and engaged in conversation. One of them seemed familiar. Now he remembered. One of them was in the same exam he was. Going over to say hi could not hurt and Shikai wanted to talk to the boy, who would have to be a cloudy since Shikai had not seen him in stone. He knew just about everyone from the academy and the newly graduated so fa young boy like that would have to have come from cloud, either to watch or enter the exam.

As he got closer her learned that the other participant in the ANBU exam had lost his wallet. Bad luck if you don't guard your stuff in Suna, it will get snatched. He himself always has his wallet closed with a string of web, which was also attached to him so whoever tried to steal it, could neither open it nor run away with it.

He waved that the group as he said.

"Greetings. I recognize one of you from the exam and well, my arm situation is similar to one of you so I thought that a good reason to come say hi."

He would bow before them in respect before continuing.

"My name is Shikai. I'm from stone. You all seem like cloudies, here to visit. Enjoying the sun and sand so far?"

He was caught off guard by the girl’s words. If he was shameless, he would have taken up her offer, but he didn’t. He was thankful though. “It’s okay, Iolanta. I don’t see it as a need right now. Perhaps after the exam, if I do manage to pass it, then it would be a good sign for me to buy it. A sort of motivation, as I see it.” He smiled as he responded and soon enough, Aki had decided to join them.

What he was surprised, though, was the sudden appearance of one of the examinees. No doubt he was a Sand nin, but the way he spoke wasn’t as harsh as he first thought. Perhaps there was more to his guy than what affiliation speaks of. Not that he believed Suna was bad country, it was just normal to be cautious. And the way this Shikai even spoke only made Nanashi think of him rather normal, wanting to chat with others probably of his age.

“Hi, I’m Nanashi,” he said towards the newcomer’s direction. Though he was willing to share his name, he felt a bit uncomfortable. A part of him thought it best not to respond at all since wouldn’t becoming part of the ANBU mean he should be more secretive? In any case, at least he didn’t come off as rude.

And when Iolanta seemed to be looking for someone, he followed her gaze towards where two boys were seemingly talking. He observed the younger one, who looked like Iolanta, but the other was wearing a rather fancy ensemble and clearly not from Kumogakure.

“Someone you know?” he asked.
