Tashino Kari is a girl who has hair the color of the solar eclipse, and pale skin that makes quite the contrast. Not as big a contrast as her age and the age she acts is, however. If one did not know her, she could be mistaken for probably two or three years older than her real age. The reality is that Kari is a young girl. She's really only about twelve years old, but with the way she's growing, she could easily be fully grown in a few more years.
Maybe it was the way her mother was so reckless, or maybe it was just the way she was, no matter the reason, the girl acted as more of a motherly figure than the childish, typical young girl. That's not to say she wasn't childish, by any means. As everyone at that age, she had a weakness for fun, candy, and praise. Learning was a key thing in her life. It was a thing that
interested her much more than most things and hobbies. Learning, but not teaching for sure. It might have had something to do with her reserved nature, but relaying things she learned to others just did not come naturally.
Truthfully, almost all communication was easier
said than done to her. Take making friends for instance. Kari having friends was just unheard of. But faith reminded the young girl that is
possible. On top of that, her mother had often reassured her that if someone was meant to be a part of her life, they would somehow get
there. Worrying was a waste of time and brain power, but the girl couldn' t help but be a worry
wart. It was who she was.

The name Kari comes from the word 'pure' .
Considering everything that lead up to the birth of the girl, pure would be the last name most would think of. Tashino Kari was a name which had no involvement of her father at all. By human standards, Kari knew that she must have a father. But by her mother's standards, she didn't .
That being said, it should be made clear that Kari's mother did not try to hide her past or sugarcoat things at all. Kari's age didn't matter, her mother believed that if she was old enough to be curious about it and asking the questions, she deserved to know the answers. If her daughter knew of her mistakes, it only makes sense that she'd be less likely to make the same ones. Because of this, Kari knew many things that might seem strange for a twelve-year -old to know, but that's life for you.
When Kari was young, her mother took her to live many places, and never one place very long. This was the first glimpse the little one had at the weaknesses and vulnerabilities her idol had. As the girl grew older, her mother became more and more her equal. Her words often times had more influence on the two of them than the grown woman's . That's why, one day, they moved to the place which they would come to know as home.
The move came after a fight they had. It had started as something small, something Kari couldn' t even remember, and escalated. Kari noted that her mother was not raising her properly, and in her anger, she said she would never even be able to call somewhere home. Of course, as after every fight, she was filled with guilt at the things she said. She knew her words hurt her favorite person in the world, and that hurt her severely. But a good thing had come from it, so at least there was that.
And now here she was, residing in the Hidden Village of Leaf. Her mother said it was her true home, and she said that her life had started to go all wrong when she left it. Maybe it was the newly-discovered devotion her mother had after she came here and started her work as a kunoichi once more. Maybe it was the awe-factor of shinobi as a whole. Whatever the reason, Kari found herself very interested in the village ninja.
Finally, the girl consulted her mother about the want she had to become one. Instead of being fearful for her only child and her safety, the mother encouraged her daughter. Kari guessed it was the fact that they were more like sisters or best friends than mother-daughter , but the reason behind her support didn't really matter. The fact that she always supported and helped her on her ambitions, especially this one, was one of the many reasons Kari thanked the gods for all she had and all her experiences thus far in her life. She knew the day her mother signed her up for the shinobi academy, though, that this was a new chapter in her life. And, in all honesty, Kari couldn' t wait for her shinobi years to start unfolding.
