Name: Nagakare, Kaito
Age: 9 years
Academy Student
Physical Description:
Kaito is an average-looking boy: on the thinner side, somewhat tan skin darkened by his hours spent outside, blue-gray eyes, and messy brown hair that seems to catch fire in the afternoon sunlight. He's around 4 feet tall, but doesn't always stand up straight. He weighs a little less than his friends and others his age, which never ceases to amaze his father, the owner of a small bakery on White Oak Street. Kaito wears a worn red shirt displaying the Kumohagakure leaf symbol in white and frayed cargo pants that have had their olive green color reinforced by years of grass-stains. His shoes, the blue sandals worn by most Leaf gennin, were a gift from his grandfather, a veteran shinobi who was severely wounded while on a mission in the Water Country. His face, while sometimes streaked with dirt, is usually home to a wide grin.
Mental Description:
Kaito is an active, rowdy, but still intelligent boy who was primarily influenced by his grandparents: his grandfather, a retired shinobi who told his grandson stories of perilous missions and awe-inspiring jutsu, and his grandmother, who taught him to read, write, and devour every book and story he could find. As a result, he often tumbles around with other boys his age, practicing their ninja skills and preparing themselves for the gennin exam. When he isn't outside, he can be found either helping out in his father's bakery or at the Academy's library, reading a book aloud to his exhausted friends after a few hours of tree climbing and exploring. After he was first taken there by his grandmother, he began to adore the library, often visiting in the morning to pick up a few books to read later that day. He loves learning about all different kinds of ninjutsu and genjutsu, and has begun to develop a calm, more logical side from the many titles he's read. Kaito also loves taking walks around the village with his grandparents, socializing with the villagers and his grandmother's old friends.
History:
Kaito was born to his father, a baker, and his mother, a healer at the Konoha Byoin, on a warm summer night in late August. His father is a good-natured, laid-back man who never considered the life of a ninja to be for him, but is happy to exchange stories with his childhood friends who reached chuunin level whenever they stop by the bakery that the family owns and operates. His mother, an orphan, was at first drawn to being a kunoichi and developing new medical ninjutsu, but decided to stay in the village and treat patients in the hospital after being mentored by his paternal gradmother, a doctor and medical ninjutsu expert, after she told her student of the injuries her husband sustained while on various missions. Kaito himself first met with his group of friends at the age of 5, and was taken to the library for the first time when he was 6. To the great delight of his grandfather, he was accepted into the Academy when he was 9. Although his grandmother is worried that he will share the same fate as his grandfather, if not worse, she supports him along with his parents.
