Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The Problem: Every time I try to catch up with the rules and rework Senna, I go insane, go inactive, and get myself hospitalized (SOMETIMES IN THAT ORDER).

The Solution: I have this character concept in the back of my mind, she might keep me interested while I get used to everything again.

If someone could try to find something in that mess of half-done paperwork that is Senna's statistical information. I don't expect to keep everything (I know I dropped the ball on my book keeping), but if someone at least finds my most recent training post, that would be good enough. Please and thank you.

Character's Physical Description: Akemi stands at about 5'3" and has a somewhat slender build, with more emphasis on her lower body than upper. Her hair is smooth and dark, and she prefers to keep it short- although if time doesn't allow for proper care it can and will get very long and very unruly very quickly. Akemi's skin is mostly unremarkable, she has a relatively healthy tone that is neither overly pale or tanned. Her face is mostly rounded, and accented by her reddish-brown eyes and small mouth (which is almost constantly set into a mischievous grin or some other wacky expression).

Akemi's wardrobe is fairly unremarkable, she usually tries to strike a fair balance between style and practicality. Skirts and short dresses are the most common choices for her, often in contrasting color combinations (white/black seems to be a personal favorite).

Character's Mental Description: If nothing else, Akemi is passionate. Her natural empathy allows her to ride an emotional 'high' derived from those around her; these emotional highs often manifest themselves in the form of extreme displays of hyperactivity and boisterousness. The effect of these highs grows in proportion to the number of people Akemi is able to 'sense' with her empathy, and is multiplied by adrenaline.

The end result of all of this is... a kunoichi who thinks she's some kind of cheesy super hero. And she likes it that way.

This is not to say that Akemi is never calm, as she is more than capable of suppressing the effects of her empathic abilities if there's either very few (not much noise, easy to block it out) or entire crowds (lots of static, just ignore it) of people around her. Although Akemi derives much of her personality from her surroundings she does have some consistent traits; she has something of an appreciation for the dramatic and often communicates with over-exaggerated gestures, she is a naturally friendly person who desires emotional companionship more than anything else, and while not much of a prankster herself she enjoys the occasional practical joke (even when she's the victim).

Character History: Akemi (birthname Hoshiro Akemi) was the only child of a priest and a physician; and she was raised in shrine where her parents worked and lived. The family lived out in the countryside, somewhat removed from proper civilization. Thankfully, the shrine was on a relatively well-traveled road, and would often get visitors who would stay a while to rest from their journeys. While these people really shouldn't have been a substitute for proper childhood friendships Akemi managed to bond with them on a level that neither they nor her parents were expecting. Often, those leaving the shrine would wonder how this young girl had such a intimate understanding of them despite only knowing them for a few days.

Eventually this question would be answered, Akemi had developed a rather unique gift. Empathy.

The Hoshiro family had a history of empathetically-gifted individuals that stretched back several generations, and soon it became obvious that Akemi would follow in that tradition. No doubt, it was only a matter of time before the child started displaying talent for emotion-based ninjutsu. But before that could happen, Akemi's parents intervened. As Akemi was their only child, they were afraid of losing her to the way of the ninja... and so they advised her to keep her talent a secret, and discouraged her from awakening her true potential. Akemi didn't understand why her talents were being discouraged, but her empathy made her all to aware of the fear that her parents were feeling. Although unable to understand just what they were afraid of, Akemi resigned herself to her parents' will. She would be depressed for a while as she tried to manage these emotions, but the constant influx of travelers at the shrine gave her a ready source of distraction (as well as slightly more varied emotional responses than her parents' dreadful apprehension).

In time, her parents' anxiety would fade and her ability to discreetly use her gift would improve; this afforded Akemi some measure of normalcy to her life. As she began to mature from a little girl to a young lady Akemi's parents started to tutor her in their respective trades- her father would constantly rabble on about spiritualism, folklore, and doctrine, while her mother would teach her the basic skills needed to act as a nurse to help attend to visitors who had become sick or injured during their journeys. Akemi grew to enjoy this life, and every day she would whisper thankful prayers that her life was as good as it was.

Regardless of how good Akemi's life truly was, it was too good to last, that much became certain...

It was subtle at first; visits to the shrine started slowly decreasing, until eventually the once busy road was completely abandoned. The few souls who visited near the end brought a dreadful rumor with them: a sadistic demon was haunting the roads, and no one was safe anymore. Akemi's father was very concerned about this; demons attacking humans was serious business after all, especially to a priest who had sworn to protect humanity from evil spirits. But every time he went out in search of the rumored demon, it evaded him. It was hiding, waiting to fight the man on it's own terms...

Everything finally came to an end about two months before Akemi's thirteenth birthday; lack of visitors aside it hadn't seemed like too abnormal of a day, although lately her father had been losing sleep chasing after the 'demon' that had been causing so much trouble in the area. He was frustrated, and tired... exactly where his enemy wanted him.

Akemi was just cleaning up her family's shrine when suddenly everything seemed... different, more surreal. She had no idea what was happening or when it started, she had just blinked for a second and when she opened her eyes nothing looked quite right anymore. And then she saw it, a creature with the posture of a man but the physique and intimidating aura of a wild beast; even if Akemi wasn't frightened by the demon's appearance her empathy fed her nothing but a constant aura of dread. Paralyzed from shock, Akemi blankly stared at the creature, trying to figure out just where it had come from and what had just happened to her.

"It's the demon! Akemi! Run!" the urgency of her father's shouting broke Akemi out of her stupor for a moment, her parents quickly rushed to protect her, but the demon had chosen it's battle well; before any of them could take action against the fiend, it rendered entire family helpless with one swipe of it's vicious claws... Akemi could only watch in horror as the beast dealt a fatal blow to her father, and then her mother. 'This... can't be real... this has to be a nightmare...' was all Akemi could think at the moment, she didn't want to believe any of this was real. It couldn't be, right?

Once it had enough of it's sadistic fun with her parents, the demon turned to Akemi. By now she had become even more helpless than before, and could only close her eyes and wait for the inevitable... it was a long wait, longer than it possibly should have been. And then, something caused Akemi to open her eyes; the sound of clashing steel. When she finally brought herself to look at where the demon was, she saw him... a young man in a black cloak wielding a cross shaped staff. He was fighting the demon, and despite the beast's ferocity seemed to be on equal terms with it! With each clash the mysterious warrior and the demon would trade wounds with each other- but, unfortunately, the warrior was too reckless and the demon too tenacious. Although the battle seemed close at first, the warrior eventually succumbed to his wounds- and then he too was dealt the fatal blow from the demon he had dared to challenge. Akemi's hopes sank as she watched the demon who had killed her parents brutalize the corpse of her attempted savior, and then, finally, something inside her snapped.

Overcome by terror and rage, Akemi mustered up all the strength she could and reached out for the deceased warrior's weapon... it was so close, she could almost reach it! Yes! She grasped it as tightly as she could, and with a loud scream launched herself to her feet and swung at the demon with all her strength! The demon, still focused on the warrior's corpse and not expecting a little girl of all people to resist it, was wide open to Akemi's attack- it took a hard whack to the head and started to lose it's balance. Acting on what appeared to be a newly awakened killer instinct, Akemi pressed her attack, bludgeoning the demon into the ground and spilling it's blood everywhere- after several more hits the demon's body became lifeless.

With the demon dead, the illusion it had cast faded. As her illusory surroundings vanished so did the demon and the warrior, but as the scenery transitioned back to the familiar (although now blood stained) surroundings of the shrine one thing remained; the corpses of Akemi's parents. As the adrenaline of the situation died down, for the first time in forever Akemi's mind was completely blank: there were no foreign emotions to take in, none of the day-to-day stimuli that kept her constantly energetic- and as this void grew inside Akemi's heart, it was slowly filled with sadness and confusion. Unsure of what else to do, Akemi simply laid down next to the lifeless bodies in front of her and waited. If no one found her she probably would have just waited for death to take her...

... but, by some miracle or coincidence, Akemi would live through this tragedy. A day after the demon attack, Akemi was found and rescued by Shinrya Kitsune, who just happened to be in the area on unrelated business. With nowhere else to go, Akemi followed the Med-nin back to Kumogakure, where she was nursed back to health and relative coherence. In the aftermath of her rescue the ninja village would become aware of Akemi's unique gifts, and combined with her pre-existing knowledge of medical care it was obvious that she would make an ideal med-nin. Akemi knew that her parents probably wouldn't approve of this lifestyle for her, but... they weren't around to be disappointed in her anymore.

Akemi is now living as an adoptive member of the Shinrya clan. She has taken to her studies well, and just recently has graduated from the academy and started her career as a mednin-in-training. For now, she seems capable of moving forward in life, time will tell if that remains true in the future...
