Name:Niijima Toki
Nicknames:Toki, Jacket, King Kawaii
Age:13
Height:5'3"
Weight:98 lbs
Eye Color:Sage Green
Hair Color:Silver Blonde
Appearance:Toki has been described as having a very inviting look about him. Rarely seen without a smile on his face, he seems to give off a naturally cheerful glow wherever he goes. He is a bit on the tall side for his age, though his lankiness prevents him from getting much use out of it other than a possible reach advantage against his peers. Toki has somewhat androgynous, gentle facial features, and tends to be mistaken for a girl somewhat frequently for that reason (along with his rather feminine voice and general demeanor). Since his early childhood Toki has been crowned with a mane of untamed silver-tinged hair, waving and swirling every which way as if it has a mind of its own. He long ago gave up any attempt to get it to behave, instead resorting to trapping it underneath the hood of his jacket if anything. On the topic of the aforementioned garment, it is nearly impossible to find Toki without the cover of his baggy grey overcoat; he seems to hold a profound personal attachment to it and will not take kindly to those that mock or tamper with it. Toki moves with a certain degree of elegance and grace unexpected of a boy his age, or really even a boy in general, seeming to slide through the world in an almost ethereal manner. A better way to describe this phenomenon would be to say that everything Toki does, he does...softly.
Personality:In a world riddled with so much deep seeded resentment and never ending conflict, it can be a daunting task to find somebody truly peaceful, but that's exactly the person Toki has always been. Toki is a genuine beacon of kindness in an unforgiving environment, non-judging and welcoming to others. Toki seems to live in a perpetual state of cheerfulness regardless of the tone of the situation, with his foremost concern always being the happiness of those around him. Toki is widely known as being almost entirely unable to put his own needs first, even when dealing with an absolute stranger. The greatest joy in life to him is ensuring that others are able to love themselves, and will do everything in his power to aid in that. Despite his overwhelming optimism and endlessly positive outlook, Toki has always had significant issues in holding himself to the same standard of appreciation for himself. He is exceedingly sensitive to the judgement of his peers and mentors, so much so as to be liable to break down into tears over a relatively minor criticism. Perhaps his greatest flaw as a person and a shinobi is his general naivety and quickness to trust, which has historically yielded some less than desirable outcomes.
History:(Will expand later, frustrated at constant wiping v-v)Toki was born into a family avidly supportive of the arts, with his father and mother both being professional singers. Thankfully for him, because of this fact they were never the sort to stifle his creative spirit, allowing the young Toki free reign to experiment in most any vocation he seemed to take an interest in. With both his parents' personal and professional support all through his formative years, it wasn't long before he had begun to develop into quite the remarkable vocalist himself. Music was one of the things that bonded their family together more than anything else, and for Toki the opportunity to have fun and perform as a part of the Niijima family was something entirely surreal. Things were not destined to remain quite so easy for the musicians, however, and troubled times were just around the corner.
Unbeknownst to the young Toki then (and mostly still now), being so attuned to the life of an idol for such a long time had left Toki's father with intense delusions of grandeur as to the true extent of his wealth. The elder Niijima had, over time, developed a love of gambling and other games of chance exceeded only by the affection he held for his own family...and by a narrow margin, at that. As the classic sob story goes, he dug himself a hole too deep to scramble his way out of, and his debt to the house continued to climb past the point of peaceful reconciliation. After he recieved a brutally violent visit from a particular gambling establishment's men, the Niijima household was in dire straits indeed. Faced with seemingly insurmountable dues from the betting house as well as fresh medical expenses, the daunting task of restoring his family to its former glory was left in Toki's eager hands.
With his father rendered infirm, his mother appointed his de facto caretaker, and all of the clan's previous musical contacts disillusioned by his father's public downfall, the only avenue left open to Toki was that of service to his homeland. Set forward on the fresh path of a Kumogakure shinobi, Toki intended to do everything in his power to raise his family out of its grave before the soil had a chance to settle. Having always been told he displayed a exceptional willingness to try new things and capacity to learn, the young Niijima was more than eager to begin carving his own story into the walls of history. Whether or not he would succeed, only time would tell.
