A notice had been set out by the Ranger Order a few days prior. In the Old Sandworm Tunnels, it was discovered that an adult basilik had shed its skin, prompting civilians and workers to report the find to the village. Considering the species was considered a B-rank threat and the size of the shed skin was larger, the Rangers had raised the assignment level to an A-rank threat for any shinobi that were up to the task at hand. This is where we find the heroine of our story today as Rika had accepted the challenge and had been told to immediately report to the Old Sandworm Tunnels near the location of where the skin had been found. This information would have been provided to her by word of mouth when she spoke with the Order member to accept the mission and also through a Snapshot provided to her to get the location to be as precise and accurate to start her on the right footing.
Upon her arrival, she would notice the location was right off The Tracks in one of the cave entrances that was illuminating. It was hard to tell which entrances lead off to mineral deposits, water supplies or even the sewer system of the village while others likely lead to nothing but darkness and the sweet embrace of death. With her assignment, the creatures were known to be found in isolated areas typically but there had been reports of some residing in the sewage system over time. However, there was no indication or reports that the creatures were causing a contamination at least yet - that could always change. Either way, the Chunnin of Suna, the one who easily dodged attacks and was able to morph time to her will, had her assignment and she was told to eliminate it before it caused a problem.
The question however that she would have to ask herself is which path was the proper path to get the job done. They all looked similar in design and lightning and there did not appear to be any tracks on the ground that would be useful to try to see what activity had been occurring recently. The information that was available to the public did mention that basiliks were solitary hunters and were known for having a bite capable of petrification through saliva - vital information that could be useful when hunting one down so mistakes did not happen due to poor preparations. Aside from that small piece of information and their appearances, there was not a lot more to go on that was available - maybe, Rika could provide more information when she stumbled upon the one that she was looking for.
For now however, she needed to make a decision. Which path would she choose? There were many options and many possibilities for each one that she had to consider!
