Character's Physical Description: Tori is a fair skinned, freckled boy with unusually light hair and hazy blue eyes. Often dressed in some robe or cloak, Tori only has his head exposed to the elements, if at all. His hair is short, if a little disheveled. Beyond that, his build and height don't stand out for a young teen.
Character's Mental Description: On the quiet side, it's not hard to guess that Tori is reserved. He'll watch people and communicate readily, but never about the unobserved. He can get amazingly willful on a whim, which may tie into recent life choices. Despite this, the youth is disciplined in matters that garner enough interest.
Character History: Having grown accustomed to life underground, Tori felt inspired by the notion of Sand venturing out unto the surface in earnest. While the sudden interest in the shinobi life cropped up randomly, his sister didn't doubt Tori's resolve. Most concerns lie in pre-existing conditions and tendency to over-exert in his efforts.
Bloodline Application: Tori toyed with a sizable lump of clay in a sparse, designated studio. Many peers had already gone for the day, more eager to play amongst each other than the various art media available. Small, pale hands manipulated with single-minded purpose, forming an avian beast of unknown origin. Any art conjured focus and eased restraint for him, taking on a more sacred quality. He spent many afternoons here even before the strange abilities manifested. Recently, Tori doubled-down on time spent, chewing clay with his own hands.
The thought of more conventional training made Tori nervous. He’d enter the academy soon and be tested alongside other students, but he feared the very traits that gave him a spot. Still, the building was a school for shinobi, maybe there’d be people weirder than he? The tales of grandeur and recent changes to the city were encouraging. Never mind how those same things made Tori restless and desire a story of his own.
Explaining the motives to his older sister proved difficult. Anything involving inspiration became warped via translation. One may as well try and explain their own mind. “Why are you here?” Tori barked at the blur of movement at the very edge of his vision. Hatsu knew he hated that, which of course meant that it was her family responsibility to linger at Tori’s blind spot three to four times a day. Her reply was equal parts coy and expected, “I work here. Gotta keep an eye out to assist young minds while our beloved teacher is away.” Fortunately, the pair shared a general interest in art; everything else usually resulted in clashes.
Hatsu went on as if pestering weren’t her goal, needlessly surprised gestures and all, “And here’s my little brother, trying not to worry. You’ve been here for hours. Pretty sure you skipped several meals too.” She caught sight of Tori sighing and rolling his eyes before continuing, “And before you say you’re not hungry, you should probably eat anyway. What…being an aspiring shinobi student and all.”
Tori hoped to ignore her, but undeniable points got tossed at him in mere seconds. A significant age gap and several years practice allowed the elder sibling to argue him down pretty consistently as long as he rated only ‘slightly’ stubborn. He even went so far to ask, “Did you bring it with you, at least?”
“Yeah, you’re pretty lucky today. I spent most of the lunch prepping it, so be grateful!”
