Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Name: Okami Roku; previously #####

Alias: Number Six, Six, New Six, God Candidate #6

Rank: Genin

Age: 16

Race: Wild Hunt Hybrid

Physical Description: 5'8" (173 cm), 165 lbs (~74 kg), athletic build with hair died pinkish on top with his natural black roots exposed on the sides and back. His eyes are naturally amber-colored but whenever driven by his Hunger or in the midst of battle, they turn blood red. While under the influence of his Hunger, his body begins to be adorned by strange tribal-like markings. While not usually seen by others, the Hunger can reach a point that it seemingly manifests a mouth of its own, with the ability for this mouth to appear anywhere on Roku's body.

Mental Description: Prior to awakening the Wild Hunt essence within him, Roku was a rather normal child. He had a beaming positivity that allowed him to make the most of the desert life he was confined to, and as he grew up out in the Expanse, there wasn't much other than surviving or dying available for him. Even after being 'adopted' and subjected to the rituals to try and awaken the Ancient DNA within him, Roku still maintained his positivity, his belief that smiling was not only for himself but for those around him to keep holding on to hope. Even when the number of other children around him continued to dwindle, his smile remained.

After awakening his Hybrid lineage, Roku would still maintain his core personality, yet there was a battle within him. A manifestation that he calls his Hunger began to try and push Roku to chase after desires that he wasn't totally sure he had prior; bloodlust and a ravenous craving to battle those stronger than himself. For the most part, Roku keeps this yearning desire of the Wild Hunt locked away, and continues to pursue the wants dreams of any normal young person...who had been raised in extreme poverty and then abducted by a cult wanting to make him a god. Still, even with some stunted youth finally getting to come out now that he is in Suna, Roku keeps it rather even keel.

The Hunger: Roku considers the Hunger within him, something that was awoken at the same time as his Hybridization, to be the essences of whatever Ancient inserted themselves into his family's bloodline trying to overwrite him and take control of the body. The Hunger, unlike Roku, is cold and driven by desires based around power; victory in combat or competition, hoarding of resources, consumption of mass quantities, etc. The Hunger, when it manifests, even comes with its own separate voice. There is some possibility that this is just all a created persona of Roku, something of a coping mechanism after years of seeing the worst in humanity, but without any clinical professional to look into it... it is hard to confirm. Either way, to Roku the Hunger is a very real thing and something that needs to be kept in check.

Due to balancing his Hunger and his own pursuit of enjoying this newfound 'good' life, he can be rather blunt about something not interesting him or wanting to take on a task that he does not find appealing. Because of his upbringing, he also has a rather odd view on how children, adults, and people in general, should act at times.

History: The boy who would eventually become known as Okami Roku, young ##### of the ####### clan, was born into poverty out in the Desert Expanse. His family was one of the many who had survived the Diamond Maelstrom and immediately turned to nomadic ways once the land was cleared of the storm. While the greater country was occupied with either Suna vs the Daimyo or maintaining status quo within the plentiful lands of Sora and Soons Haven, ##### and his family were more focused on survival. His father wanted to eventually find a piece of land that they could claim as their own, a place that could sustain them, and live a quiet life.

After onslaughts of the fierce fauna of the desert country and the harsh environment itself, #####'s family dwindled to near extinction. Keeping a smile, and aiding his sister, he continued to cling on to life as the rest of his family vanished before his eyes. He still attempted to maintain that smile while dying of hunger himself. When all seemed lost, a light appeared; people found him, his sister, and what was left of their clan and took them in. He wasn't certain what happened to the adults, but he and his sister were given food, water, and clothing at their new location, a village the likes of which they had never seen before.

"You both our beautiful candidates to our great mission! We have been tasked with finding the new gods to populate this world, after the fall of the Ancients, and bring balance back to the desert. Humanity, wicked and cruel, has consumed too much... but you young ones can be our salvation!"

This was the message he was given by the people that had taken him and his sister in, along with several other children. They were allowed to eat good meals, drink all the water they wanted, and they were always given such nice smiles and compliments from the people of this new village. Yet, there were still moments of not good times. Times where they were tested. These tests were to "push past your humanity, scrape down to the core of your being, and unlock the Ancient DNA that resides within you! Almost every human of this country has the code of our former gods buried within them, but because humanity has grown fat and complacent we can never find it. You all will be pushed to ascend past your humanly limits to become something far greater!"

They were opened up, they were forced to try and exceed their physical limitations, they were challenged mentally with illusions that seemed almost real, and then they were given time to heal. Some did not make it to the end of a session. No matter how much it hurt, physically, mentally, or emotionally, Number Six, a variation of the name people in this new home called him (God Candidate Experiment #6), would continue to smile, joke, and laugh with the kids, but more specifically with his sister. When it seemed that she was getting paler and smaller, the beginning signs from previous children that she would soon disappear, he would finally, in a single moment, lose his smile.

Approaching the Elders, he would demand to take not only his sessions testing but that for his sister as well. The Elders did not seem pleased with this, but a man he had never seen before, someone who seemed to command even the elders, said, with a smile, "Go ahead, let's see what happens~".

On this day, he was put through pain that burrowed down deep into every fiber of his being. It was maddening, it was disorienting, it was enough to make him, someone who had smiled through starvation and loss of his parents to finally hit a point where a thought finally crept into his mind; maybe I should just perish away?

"Idiot."

He wasn't sure if this was in his mind or something that actually happened, but a mouth, full of sharp jagged teeth, would appear before him.

"You have all this potential, have struggled pathetically all the way to this point, and now you finally start to think of death? Think of running away? Your humanity disgusts me.... but you seem to be a suitable host for my essence. Well, then, I guess its time to give the people what they want..."

The memories would get hazy, but coming back to his senses he would notice that before him laid several slain members of the community, including a couple of Elders. Upon his body would be blood and strange markings. Had he done this? It was a silly question, he would quickly realize he had. The man from before, the one who wished to see him attempt the trials, would appear with the same grin upon his face.

"I already have a couple of Sixes, so let's make you a little bit more unique... Atarashii Roku, that would be a good joke."

Why would a name be a joke, he wondered.

"No, no, this group should be honored for finding me such a nice piece of raw material. In honor of them, and their quest to find new gods, I will call you Okami Roku. Waddaya think?~"

The strange man promised to take care of Roku, as he was now called by the community and the strange man himself, as long as he did what the man wanted. Out of all the hardships he had experienced thus far, the request of this strange man seemed relatively simple. Go to a place called Sunagakure no Sato, find a man named Takahashi Sousuke, give him a recording, and then live in the village for as long as the people would allow it.

So, he would do just that. Upon entering the village, requesting Takahashi Sousuke, and getting hassled for a bit, the young man would finally make the audience of the man he would be sent to meet. Giving him the recording, Roku would wait. Whatever the man known as Sousuke heard from the recording must have been interesting enough, as Sousuke seemed eager to know more about Roku, his past, and did not seem to hesitate to agree to welcome Roku into his home. His giant, cushy, home. Sousuke, while weirder than most people he had met, seemed to be the nicest in a long time. He did not hurt Roku, but did test him. He called this "Academy Student Training". For two years, he would follow under the instruction of Sousuke and several members of his clan or of the village to learn the basic arts of the shinobi. His physical abilities seemed to already be at a level that would make him comparable to other young students, but his overall knowledge, as Sousuke would put it, would be what would hinder his progression. The man wanted Roku to learn to be just as much of a respectable person as he could be a respectable shinobi. By the end of his two years of home tutoring, Sousuke would award him with a strange piece of cloth and metal and a new title, Genin.

With this, he was now given the trust to enter and explore the village, something he had been cautioned from doing for two years, Sousuke said it would because it was still a little bit of a sticky situation between Humans and Hybrids. Even with so much still to learn, he was ready to finally start seeing what his new home was all about...
