Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Long corridors burrowed deep beneath the village of stone, some winding, others straight, many occasionally branching out into various other paths that may or may not have lead to dead ends. While the early phases of the tunnels were easy enough to navigate simply by being aware whether the path was sloping up or down, the deeper reaches of the mineshaft were not so simple; it would not be uncommon to hear of someone becoming lost and wandering about the gloomy tunnels, only to be discovered when it was far too late. Indeed, such unfortunate instances may have been what lead the higher ups to deem the tunnels a strict "No Trespassing" zone, often guarded.

It would not be a lie to say that a labyrinth existed beneath the village. And, like many a dungeon, the call of treasure is what tempted many to venture into the dark depths. Rumors of priceless gemstones that could make a person rich, of rare materials that could be forged into the finest of weapons. And, of course, of creepy monsters that would chase people of way, or lost souls of those who were, well, lost, and unable to get un-lost quick enough.

Recently however, a new rumor had began so be spread amongst those stuck guarding the mineshaft or those who have ventured within; some say that on certain occasions one would be able to hear the voice of a child playing a game or singing, echo from within. Any who claim to have investigated agree that, upon exploring deeper into the cave, it seemed impossible to approach the source of the voices. Lights would go out...tunnels would collapse...Or the voice would simply stop just as quickly as they appeared, and nothing would ever be seen.

Step. Step. Step

Small, light footsteps echoed down the narrow passages. Sometimes walking, sometimes running, sometimes skipping.

"This is all your fault, Shiro~ Your so clumsy, heehee! I bet its gonna be dark outside by now..." The girly voice spoke out in a playful tone.

How long had the two been down beneath the earth? The two had ventured into the tunnels, like many others, in search of various goodies. Oh; the two companions were a small girl dressed in red, with skin as pasty as a full moon (caked with dirt, too; that tends to happen when you crawl around in caves) and messy black hair. In the dimly lit tunnels (considering it was abandoned, light sources were pretty spaced apart, perhaps in order to keep costs down), her pale skin almost seemed to glow in the dark.
As for, "Shiro"...he was, of course, the patched up puppetdoll that she had clutched to her chest, with the same stitches across its body that his owner had.

"Don't blame me, it was your idea to come down here looking for treasure, and now we're lost. Don't worry though; I put some flashies somewhere in case this happened; we just gotta listen and look for them!" She spoke, seemingly proud of herself. But, her dancing in place came to a halt when her eyes squinted down the passage, her ears focusing on some slight change in atmosphere she detected.

"Uh-oh...be quiet Shiro; someone might be coming. It's like hide-and-seek, so if they find us we lose. I'm really good at this game, so don't give me away. You stay here and keep watch. Shhh!" She spoke, setting her doll down in the middle of the path as some sort of sentry, before ducking into one of the many branches of the tunnel and clinging to the shadows like...a ninja. Haha.

She wasn't bragging; she really was pretty good at hiding from others. Many challengers had attempted to find her in her mines, but so far she was the undefeated champion. Would today's challengers be able to end her streak?

Ayumi had walked throughout the village for quite a while, by herself, until she had found the entrance to the tunnels in which she shrugged a bit to herself and had entered, going deeper and deeper with every step. Even though she was far from being frightened, she did get a chill down her spine every now and again. She had her other paths simply wander around the village, and even act as she would by eating and the sort while she wandered throughout the winding tunnel of the... well, tunnel. She smirked a bit as her red, rippled, eyes scanned the vicinity as she took each step.

After a while of moving through the tunnels that branched off, running into dead-ends and finding herself not much able to find anything that wasn't dirt related, she would soon speak to herself. "Now, if I was something special... where would I be?" She said, stopping and tapping one of her feet. She didn't much notice that she had walked by a teddy bear as she started to walk not long after talking to herself.

"...Hnn?..." She waited until the footsteps passed, then poked her dark-haired head out from the shadows. (Safe! Good job, Shiro.) The person, a girl...alone apparently, had passed by the nightprowler's hiding place and continued down the path of the tunnel, seemingly oblivious to the happenings around her. (Maybe she's not actually looking for someone...but something.) In which case she was playing the wrong game.

Afterall; hide and seek was no fun when there was noone looking for you...or noone to find.

So, it was time for a gamechanger; "Onee-san~" she whispered quickly down the hallway, repeating it as often as needed until she noticed some kind of reaction from her. Meanwhile, the girl sank into the very walls around them; with the sole exception being a thin, dark thread that rivaled even the thinnest of hair strands. On one end the unlife fiber seemed to lead to the walls...but on the other end was her puppet, binding the two like some kind of string of fate.

The moment the tendril connected with the puppet, it fell over...But several moments later slowly rose off the ground. The puppet would seem to be levitating down the passageway. Yup, Kuroyuki-style puppet control. Afterall; Shiro was her puppetdoll.

From both everywhere and nowhere in particular, a childish voice echoed through the tunnels; "Shiro wants to play, Onee-san~ His favorite game is tag, and he's it. Win, and you get a shiny prize. Lose, and you get a flashy prize."

"Play with Shiro, but don't let him catch you!"

At first, deeper within the tunnels, the dark clad man was oblivious to the two who had entered; his search was for a particular stone that would allow him to grind down the spines on his left arm to nubs so that they didn't simply tear through the bandages. It was difficult to find the right hardness of a rock that would be able to file something with the smooth texture of obsidian but the resilient toughness of granite; he looked to the bowls of Iwa, more familiar tunnels that didn't give him flash backs to being burned alive or pits of molten magma tearing into his body. It had been two years and he still woke up screaming and trying to brush the liquid stone off his body; more often than not to the faint feeling that he was being laughed at. "Damn." While he searched the walls, his flashlight flickering there and there along the path before him and walls around; his focus had been fully upon his own particular quest. Of course, the echoing sound of a voice down the tunnel drew his attention, stopping the towering man in his tracks and making him turn slightly to listen to what was being said.

"Shiro wants to play, Onee-san~ His favorite game is tag, and he's it. Win, and you get a shiny prize. Lose, and you get a flashy prize."

"Play with Shiro, but don't let him catch you!"

The hell? Without really knowing why, he turned completely and headed through the tunnels, his flashlight beam announcing his approach while his faint steps echoed off the walls around; taking a second to look down and adjust his arm in the sleeve slightly, curling his fingers into a fist as tight as possible and drawing it upwards so that the bandage would go unnoticed, he came around a corner right in front of a girl and nearly poked her in the face with his flashlight. "Hrng?" He studied her for a second, unsure if she was the one the voice he'd heard had come from or if there was another person in the mine deciding to play about in the dark. For some reason, people just didn't come prepared to delve into these kinds of places, and with that in mind, he pushed the flashlight towards the brown haired girl he'd nearly trampled over "Here. In the mean time of forcing a flashlight on someone, his eyes caught something moving down the passage which caused him to cup his right hand upwards and call forth a small, bright flame that radiated heat disproportional to its size, just in case it was something hostile. You never could tell with this place, there could be tentacle monsters lurking somewhere for all he knew; and if this girl was a student then he would have to make sure to clear the way so she could get out.

Che... What was it with him and getting into fights in caves and tunnels these days? Ever since two years ago, it apparently was a continuing trend with him having problems underground...

Ayumi continued to walk throughout the tunnels, looking for something that she'd possibly be able to note of some sort of value, though she had soon heard someone whisper something. She had quickly looked around to see if anyone was around, but she didn't quite notice anyone. After a while, she had heard a voice echo through the tunnels, talking about how if she won, she would get a shiny prize, and if she lost, she'd get a flashy prize. She sighed a bit before shaking her head a little. "I guess I can play your little game..." She said, as she continues to walk. Ayumi had soon noticed someone who would hand her a flashlight. She blinked for a moment as her eyes had adjusted to the dark before she had noticed the light, and she turned said flashlight on, in which her eyes would start to be getting used to the light.

[OOC: I didn't know who Ryu was speaking to in his post, which it looked like Kuroyuki, but I wasn't sure, so I left it out. PM me if I need to edit and that he was talking to Ayumi. - Edited as best I could]

A challenger approaches! And a big one, at that. Seriously, the guy seemed huge, so he'd probably hit his head wandering around in these dark tunnels if it wasn't for the light he had been carrying. Larger people tended to intimidate the small girl moreso than others, but so long as she didn't have to meet their gaze she felt much more bold; kinda like those Boo's from Mario games. And, within the walls of the caves, she felt like she was in an impenetrable fortress; this was her playground, her game.

(...Hmm?) The impish genin muttered in a brief moment of puzzlement. The puppet continued its path until it was several feet away from the two. "Heeheehee....You can play too, Oji-san." Her soft voice echoed, and the puppet once again began moving, slowly, seemingly avoiding them by going around their position without getting too close. At least, as much as a tunnel would allow. "...But if either of you lose it counts as Shiro's win! Heehee~" She continued, her doll staring at them with its abyssal eyes. "But! If you find the heart of Shiro's power, then you both win." His arrival may have been unexpected. But; games were always funner with more players, although she tweaked the rules abit to what she deemed fair.

However...They seemed to disregard one of the most basic rules of tag! They must have been noobs. The thought caused the girl's giggling to echo within the dark tunnels. "You guys aren't very good at playing tag though, haha." The girl spoke, voice again echoing from everynowhere while the puppet slowly circled around them in an unwavering motion. "You aren't supposed to stay by eachother. It makes it too easy for Shiro to catch you." At which point, the puppet that had up to now been hovering slowly would rapidly increase speed to reveal its ploy;

Each time it had circled them meant that the thin hair-like thread attached to it had been layed out around them. And when the puppet picked up speed, that same fiber then began to quickly constrict around anything within said circle like a binding lasso made out of hair. But...the puppet's trail was only the first of many strands; many more threads seemed to grow out from within the cracks of the tunnel's walls both ahead of them and behind them, steadily braiding themselves into a mesh that would make both paths of the tunnel difficult to pass through. And the longer they took to act, the stronger the mesh grew!

Tentacle monsters lurking about, indeed.

The heat around them rose gradually more the longer the small flame lingered in his grasp, Ryu didn't notice since it was his own doing and by now his nerves were numb to the sting of his own heat; the girl now holding the flashlight blinked around as her eyes became used to having light again, and in the mean time, his violet-blue eyes locked onto the floating bear as it lingered feet from them before starting a slow circle around them. Hell of a demented game for someone to be playing. His face remained stoic and solid while he watched the thing circle, something wasn't quite right about it for sure, aside from the fact that it seemed to be floating on its own. "Stacked deck." it would have been easy to leave the girl on her own but that's not quite how he worked, considering he didn't know the source of the voice or this strange bear. "Might get a bit hot." The flame in his hand condensed suddenly only to burst larger before he flicked it downward at their feet creating a sudden gout of flame in front of the bear as it passed the way it had come, the white-hot fire blocked the passage and gave him enough time to dash backwards and bring the girl he'd stumbled across with him. Something that felt similar to cobwebs broke behind his back and he caught a faint glimmer of something covering the passage way he'd come through that he didn't quite remember seeing before.

Strange for sure, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was, and for the moment they had to be away from the bear-thing so he didn't have time to piece it together anyway. "My apologies for the abrupt treatment." His voice hadn't wavered from even when he'd first stumbled onto this situation, heartbeat remained steady and he was fully collected. An unknown situation like this would frighten most that believed in monsters like Ryu did; but he wasn't afraid, rather he was concerned. As his sudden wall of flame dropped, they were no longer standing where they had been; instead, Ryu was tearing down the tunnels with his shoulders nearly parallel to the ground and had maneuvered the girl onto his back. As he dodged through tunnels in an erratic, random pattern, his mind turned trying to figure out just what the situation was. He came to a grinding halt after just a moment more and stood quietly; he supposed the only way to manage to figure out what was going on would be to set up bait and a trap. "Hey, I have an idea." His hand blurred together suddenly and a clone of himself blazed into existence, standing beside him in a stoic reflection of its master. "Don't know if you can do, but here's my plan." Ryu had to nearly fold double on himself as he crouched down to the girl while his clone watched out for them, its head turning side to side every so often.

..."And that's the plan." After he was done whispering, he gently took the flashlight from the girl and stepped off the side of corridor and nodded to his clone who would wait for the girl to make her decision. After a moment, his hands blurred around the flashlight and in a blast of smoke, he seemed to disappear from the corridor, leaving the flashlight sitting with the glass and lens resting on the floor and the stones around it rocking back and forth slightly from some kind of motion that happened in the smoke.

Ayumi soon listened to the voice that echoed through the tunnels again, though now saying that if either one of them loses it counts as Shiro's win, and if one of them found the heart of Shiro's power, then both of them won. She sighed slightly before hearing the man speak. As the man whispered a plan to her, but soon shook her head. She didn't have the correct path that even had the ability to do what he had planned. Clones were not her own thing to do, as she didn't know many Ninjutsu, and the ones she did weren't really able to be used without one of her paths.

"Sorry, I don't have much of the ability to do so." She said, before the blast of smoke happened, while she went her own way throughout the tunnel, turning off the flashlight and getting her eyes used to the dark again.

She much preferred to do what she could in the dark due to the fact that it would be bad if the fact that whoever they were avoiding had seen the light and followed them because of it. At least in the dark, they'd be spotted a bit harder.
