Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

A poster had been left on the bulletin board at the academy. For any interested in acquiring a poison license, a mednin named Yakkai Sainou would be holding a class to receive the required certification. All ages and ranks were welcome, as some shinobi weren't always able to fit in the class before graduating. The poster instructed children and adults alike to meet in the lobby of the Aesculapium. There they would meet their instructor and be led to the next location.

Already in the vestibule were a few waiting for the class. An older teen leaned against the wall, tapping his foot impatiently. He flipped his long black bangs out of his face every few seconds. Whenever this happened, he'd meet the eyes of someone with a glare. Also there was a young blonde boy with a shih tzu. He spoke with his canine companion, and the dog would give a bark or whine from time to time in response. It sounded like they were arguing whether poisons were considered 'clean.' An odd conversation, to say the least.

After a time, a blonde mednin with a white jacket came out to greet the group. The mednin's make-up was rather flashy, as were the syringe earrings dangling below golden locks. The woman gave a smile to the gang. Or at least, everyone thought it was a woman until the mednin spoke, and a manly voice boomed from his lips. "Good afternoon one and all. I assume you all are here for some poison education?" The now obvious male motioned for everyone to gather together who were planning to attend his class. His blue eyes scanned them before giving a smile. "Good good. I'm glad to see so many enthusiastic faces. Please follow me, but don't touch anything, or you'll get first-hand experience of the wrong end of poison." He gave his painted-on eyebrows a single wiggle before turning on the spot, his coat flaring with him. His white heels clicked as he walked, filling the bleach white halls with clatter.

Eventually the group stopped before a room, and were ushered in by their instructor. There were multiple lab benches, with two chemistry sets at each one. "You each will have your own set. Don't touch anyone else's. Those with bad eyesight, I suggest you seat yourself close to the board." Once everyone was in, they would notice other mednin within, some in training, some with their degree, maybe even a chief if they were really lucky. These were Sainou's assistants, who would help keep an eye on things and help when Sainou himself was busy. Most took notice of the black-haired teen, who had an almost sadistic smile on his face. He would be one to watch closely. Entering in himself, their teacher wrote on the board. "I am Yakkai-sensei. Or Professor. Or any other respectable name you would like to use. As long as you show respect, you'll receive it." He gave the blonde boy a glance, warning him to behave himself, as rumors had spread of his disregard for authority if he dubbed them "unclean" as he put it. Sainou continued. "Today you will be learning the basics of poisons, specifically weak ones to start. After a nice lecture, we'll actually make one together. Under our watchful eye." Sainou motioned to his helpers. "Finally you will be taught proper ways to administer poisons. As long as you all cooperate, you'll have your official license by the end of my wonderful lesson."

Sainou motioned to the class. "But first, let us do a quick introduction. Class, give your name and rank so we may better help you, and know who we should watch a little more closely." The man looked to his aides. "Please give your name and rank so the students may call upon you for assistance." The dark-haired boy stood up. "You can call me Yuugure. I am a Genin." His voice was low and monotone. The teen lowered himself back to his chair as the blonde boy popped up, and his dog sat up into a beg pose in his own chair. "I'm Kirei Zoro." *bark* "And this is FuwaFuwa-sama. We're students." The boy sat down, and his dog sat back down with all four paws. A young assistant lifted her hand. "I am Mednin-in-Training, Touki Shimizu." Her droopy eyes made her appear disinterested in the class. There were other names to come, surely.

A few rules before we begin:
-Classes are on a time crunch to ensure that they don't die or take forever. Post within 72 hours (three days). Each missed deadline gets you a strike. Three strikes and you fail the class.

-Because there is a time limit, there is no posting order. Do it as soon as you can.

-If you cannot post within the time limit, please pm me AHEAD of the deadline. If you are having a hard time getting motivated, you're busy, etc, I would like to know so I can help/work with you.

-Since this is an open rp, those who join that won't benefit from it can do whatever as long as they don't interrupt the session. (don't utterly derail the class but feel free to have fun with it)

-Have fun!!!

*Note: These are the OoC rules on Poisons. The certification/license is IC fluff. Please follow the actual rules when dealing with poisons on this site.

Kin stood in the back of the class near one of the lab tables, his blue suit puffy and form concealing. Pulling his scarf down so he could project his voice, "I am Yagiyo Kin," he spoke pausing for a moment before finishing the thought, "Student of the cloud and..." Kin's words trailed off as he thought. After a moment he shook his head and waved a hand in front of his face to motion to the next as his scarf went back to covering his mouth. His arms lifted up and back before his whole body dropped near the ground. Tightening up his legs he swung his arms out in front of him, doing squats to keep his body moving and help burn off some of the excess energy that children were burdened with. His mind wandered bits as he took in the class roster 'poisons are a slow tool that don't need to be seen to attack with, more invisible than the wind itself.' Thinking back to how his mother was sometimes called seer he wondered if poison was something she could have taken in or if it truly was invisible.

Yukiko followed the rest of the class, and took a seat near the middle. She listened to everything that was said, then watched as others around the room introduced themselves. She stood after one of the boys introduced himself as Kin, an academy student."I'm Aoyama Yukiko, academy student. Pleased to meet all of you." She introduced herself with a smile, her voice cheery. She then took a seat again, and continued to watch the room, eyeing the sensei every once in a while. Te man was strange, and she wasn't sure if she liked him too much. Her eyes then shifted to the MiT Touki Shimizu, who looked almost bored, and over to the Genin and blonde with the dog, before settling on the front of the classroom as she waited for the rest of the introductions to be made so they could get this show on the road. Her fingers tapped slightly on her knees as she waited, needing something to keep herself entertained for the time being. The girl would have felt out of place, had it not been for the presence of two other academy students.

Mirai took a seat somewhere near the front of the class. He was already in deep thought on how poisons can be applied, mostly recalling how they're used in the books he's read. He could poison someone's drink, poison the tip of the weapon, or possibly even poison the blood of someone. The possibilities were endless, and it was definitely a great tool to have in his arsenal. Before he knew it, it was his turn to introduce himself. Mirai stood up and put on a comfortable, and friendly smile before speaking. "Hey, my name is Akarui Mirai. I'd prefer Kai though. I'm an Academy Student. I look forward to earning my certificate along side all of you." His intro sounding as if he had rehearsed it many times, yet friendly enough to invite anyone to come have a conversation. Taking his seat, Mirai began looking at everyone in the class. He thought someone had to be a natural, and would probably be the best person to befriend while in class. He had his eyes on the blonde who seemed bored, most likely from already knowing some basics on her own. He waited for the others in the class to introduce themselves, and for class to begin.

Sainou gave a nod at each introduction. They were all respectable and simple, a good sign. A few more followed, however all the rest seemed insignificant. With names out of the way, the teacher motioned to Shimizu. "Shimizu-chan. Please be a dear and do a final check on everyone's equipment. I would hate for them to blow up so soon." The assistant gave a nod and began walking around the benches, examining the chemistry sets as Sainou continued the lecture.

"Alright. Our first order of business is to fill our noggins with knowledge. Poisons are an important part of any shinobi's arsenal. Why physically fight when you can destroy an opponent from the inside? It is a subtle source of power. But it is still power. We must use it responsibly, or face the consequences." The teacher's gaze held on Yuugure the longest.

"There are three ways to infect someone with poison. Through consumption, through inhaling, or through injury. Trying to infect someone by injuring them is of course the hardest of the three. You must not only hit your target, but bypass their skin and muscles. Aim for the veins. Making an enemy inhale poison is a bit easier, as every living creature must breath. Unless they can find a way to exit the area, or have a filtered mask, it will only be a matter of time before they have it running through them. Consumption is the most potent, as one will generally have such a condensed amount of poison that it will be hard to resist. However, it is usually used to counteract poison inflicted upon yourself." Sainou turned to the board and quickly jotted down phrases of what he just said, in case there were students who benefited from visual rather than audio.

Spinning back to face the class, the lesson continued. "I will give you a brief run-through of the currently known weak poisons that are available for purchase here at the hospital. Wraith's Dream is an injury type poison. Once injected, it will mess with the mind of your victim, causing them to suffer a feeling of fear. This tends to lower their effectiveness to cause you harm, and lowers their guard. AntiVenom is exactly what you think. If you yourself get poisoned, consume it to counteract the effects of an injury type poison. Castor Oil is a bit of a doosie. When consumed, it will attempt to make you regurgitate any consumed poison in your system. Messy, but it could save your life. Twilight Venom will cause your target to slowly lose their sight. However, it will eventually fade, and after the initial use, it will not help you further in battle. Gray Fog, of course, is a poison your enemy will inhale. It messes with the mind, causing confusion and headaches. It's definitely one of the handier of the weak poisons. Lastly is Fury Gas. This inhalable poison will send your target into a rage. Though that may sound rather unbeneficial, an opponent won't have the mind to properly use Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. Use it when up against an enemy who isn't physically strong." Sainou faced the board again and jotted down the list of poisons with their basic description.

Shimizu cleared her throat lightly. "Everything checks out sir." Sainou spun on his heels and gave his aide a smile. "Thank you dear. But before we get to making poisons, let's answer a few questions, shall we?" He looked to the black-haired youth. "Yuugure-kun. When would you think is the appropriate time to poison someone?" Before the lad could answer, Sainou focused on Zoro. "Zoro-kun, how would you try to undo poison that was administered to you?" He asked a few others before looking to Kin. "Kin-kun, which of the three types of poisons would you favor and why?" He then questioned Yukiko. "Yukiko-chan, if your target was in a crowd of people, what poison would you use and how would you administer it?" Lastly his eyes fell to Mirai. "Mirai-kun, if you could only bring two of the weak poisons on a mission, which would you keep in your arsenal and why?"

With all of his questions out there for everyone to hear, he pointed in turn to each person in the order he gave his inquires. Yuugure flashed a toothy grin. "Anytime. Every time. All the time." The finger fell to Zoro. "I wouldn't get poisoned. Getting poison on me or in me would be gross." *bark bar-baaaar woof* "I already answered the question." *broo* "Fiiine. FuwaFuwa-sama says he'd take the AntiVenom for an injury poison, the Castor Oil for consumed poison, and if it was an airborne one, he'd try to lay low to the ground to avoid breathing it in. If I knew any wind jutsu, he would tell me to try and blow the poison away from ourselves... Hey! I'm the one who gives orders, not you." The blonde boy crossed his arms and pouted as Sainou continued to point at the others in the class. When he pointed to Kin, Yukiko, and Mirai, they were to give their answers.
Answer your given question. I'll write them here again since they may be a hint buried in the paragraph:

-Kin: Which of the three types of poisons would you favor and why?

-Yukiko: If your target was in a crowd of people, what poison would you use and how would you administer it?

-Mirai: If you could only bring two of the weak poisons on a mission, which would you keep in your arsenal and why?

Feel free to respond to anything I wrote, and/or anything other PCs, or you can just answer the question if you like. (Just remember to fulfill the minimum word count)

Continuing with his squats Kin waited a bit before taking his turn to answer. His internal debate was short due to his physical body becoming winded after the more rough training sessions. "Inhaled poison would work best," he puffed in a breath and pointed at himself with a thumb. "The more they move, the more they breathe, the more they take in." Being out of breathe was something of a drag and mid fight it could prove fatal, but if there was no clean air it would mean the end for sure. Stopping his motions he sat down and tried to suppress his breathing. "And keeping calm and using tools as opposed to fleeing or fighting physically means I get less of whatever effects it might have if it spreads towards me." Stepping back up to his feet he continued his more hectic breathing, his tiny lungs demanding to be paid oxygen they had been shorted. Kin understood the need for air and also understood his weapons of choice required little athletic output to deal out their maximum efficiency.

Looking over the other students Kin thought about how he could ever possibly get someone to eat poison. His young mind wandered over honey, perhaps 'if it tasted like candy he could slip it past their teeth and they wouldn't suspect it.' Though dogs tended to eat anything, which sparked a question for the teacher. "Instructor, would a dog be more likely or less likely to be poisoned through the air?" He rubbed his chin as he thought over the process. 'A dog has a better nose, but it is smaller.' Tilting his head a bit he thought harder, 'and they breathe a lot faster.'

Class had finally began, it didn't take long for them to jump straight into the lesson. Weak poisons and a couple of antidotes, were what they were going over. Mirai didn't necessarily see the benefit in the castor oil. Yea it would clear out your system, but it wouldn't be great puking your guts out onto the battlefield. As the class was going smoothly, sensei threw sort of a curve ball by asking a barrage of questions to the students, catching most off guard. Mirai listened to the other's answers to the questions they were asked, and when it was his turn he answered.

"Knowing that this is just a preference of mine, I'd have to choose both Twilight Venom and Gray Fog. Twilight because the loss of sight can be a great disadvantage to the enemy, where I could take advantage. And Gray Fog for the confusion/headache, it'll be easier fighting against someone having a hard time concentrating on what's going on."

Answered Mirai to his question, he began wondering what the other's responses would be to the question. Thinking different people could come up with different advantages for the same poison.

Yukiko listened, taking in the information as it was taught. The sensei snapped out questions in rapid fire, and the girl's eyes would shift to each student as they were asked. When her question rolled around, she paused to think about it while the other's answered their questions. She still listened to their answers, taking note of those she thought were good answers. She met Yakkai-sensei's gaze as his finger pointed towards her, signalling it was her turn to answer. "If I had a target within a crowd, I would use an injury type poison, like Wraith's Dream. I would first get close enough to injure the target, then do so, and move away again. I believe this to be the best option, as it wouldn't affect the rest of the crowd too badly." She answered, though she was quite hesitant, and quite unsure about how she would administer said poison. Either way, she returned to to watching the other students, waiting for the class to continue on. The black haired genin seemed to be on their teacher's watch list, especially, and his answer to his question did not sit right with Yukiko.

Katachi comes dashing, he abruptly opens the door to the see the class in session. He looks around at the class and puts a hand behind his back with a light smile. "Sorry, Sensei. I was running a little bit late, it won't happen again." Katachi felt embarrassed, he deliberately interrupted the class because of his own clumsiness. He was up all night because he had no food to eat but he managed to continue. Katachi knew about his responsibilities and even though he's struggling currently he realizes that once he begins his journey his potential is limitless. He notices the class was in the middle of a Q&A session, Katachi swiftly entered into a seat in the front without further disturbance. "My name is Katsu Katachi and I am currently an academy student." Katachi sat down quickly.

Sainou wore his heart on his sleeve with each reply to his questions. He shook his head at Yuugure and Zoro, a look bordering on pity plastered upon his face. To the rest, he nodded. Everyone else had responded the way he had hoped. He glowered at Yuugure as he prepared to grade each answer. "Minus. There are times when poison is inappropriate. What if you were ordered to bring in a target alive? One can never be sure if a person is allergic to any ingredient in a poison. You may kill them on accident, even with a weak poison." He frowned even more, if that was possible. "And frankly, that is a rather unnerving reaction." Next was Zoro's turn to be reprimanded. "Minus. Never assume you are above being poisoned. Poison can happen anytime, anywhere, by anybody. It is always in your best interest to assume the worst." He smiled. "But FuwaFuwa on the other hand..." "FuwaFuwa-sama." Sainou shot Zoro a look sharp as daggers before continuing. "Your canine companion is correct." The teacher addressed the entire class. "Be prepared and get creative. There may be a nonconventional solution hidden within you."

After dealing with the other students in-between, Sainou turned his attention to the last three. Kin was up first, and he chose inhale. "Plus. A good explanation to go with it. However, remember to be aware of your environment. In a gusty location, inhale type poisons can quickly turn on their users." To Kin's question, Sainou responded. "Canine, feline, goat, chicken. Everything breathes Kin-kun. Some may be affected quicker than others, but in the end, they will be affected as long as their mouths and noses aren't blocked. In the end, I cannot give a true answer, for there would be far too many factors. What size is the dog? Is the dog hot or tired? Is it attempting to track someone? How smart is the dog you are attempting to poison? An Inuzuka companion, while still not able to surpass the capacity of human intelligence, are still clever beasts. They will be harder to poison than you think." The man gave a wink to FuwaFuwa-sama. Returning to the other student responses, he nodded at Yukiko. "Plus. Not only would Wraith's Dream only affect your target, but it would also lower said target's ability to harm others. Just remember that a better understanding of the human body will help when attempting to infect a person with an injury poison. Aim for weak spots that will grant you easy access to their bloodstream." Last was Mirai. "Plus. Going for blinding and confusion I see. Good choices. But don't forget to keep your target in mind. If you are aware that your target uses poisons, it might be in your best interest to bring the counteractive poisons instead."

Sainou was about to continue when a boy rushed in, apologizing for his tardiness. Sainou gave the boy a disdainful look for but a second before shifting to a neutral expression. "Don't believe the storybooks children. That saying 'A shinobi is never late, he arrives precisely when he means to' is hog-wash. Late gets comrades killed. Late leads to death on the operating table. Late gets you a strike, Katachi-kun." Sainou scribbled down the lad's name and placed a check mark beside it. "Well, at least you deemed my class worthy enough to show up at all. I will give you your question after the lesson Katachi-kun. In the meantime, do read the board and try to catch up."

With the distraction out of the way, Sainou gave a clap of his hands. "Very good class. There is no single right answer to my questions." He eyed Yuugure and Zoro. "Though apparently I was wrong to think that there were no incorrect responses either." He addressed the whole class again. "How you handle using poisons, and what poisons you use, are entirely up to you. It is merely my job to ensure you know what they do and how to use them appropriately." Again, his gaze fell to Yuugure. "It is also my job to make sure you all have the responsibility required to wield poisons." Sainou looked to his aides and gave a nod. "If you would please, bring out the ingredients." The medical staff went into a back room. When they emerged, some had bags of fungi, while others had odd colored liquids. Everyone was supplied with these components. "Next we'll create our own poisons. Wraith's Dream is the easiest to make and store, so that is the one we shall craft. Remember, don't try this at home. We are trained professionals watching you do this. It is a simple thing to mess things up, and sometimes the consequences are irreversible." He bowed his head and was quiet for a moment, as if he was honoring someone who had fallen to such an event. When he lifted his head, he gave a grin. "Let's get dangerous."

Sainou looked over the students, making sure they all had what they needed. "You may either make your poisons while I'm giving the instructions, or you may wait until I am finished. I know some prefer to know all the directions before starting, while others are a bit more...let's say confident. If those who are doing it while I'm speaking have any questions, please direct them to the attendants. Also be aware that they are watching you. Are we ready? Alright." Sainou turned to the board and began to write out the instructions, as well as say them.

"First take the Blaxil Mushroom and break off the stem. Place the stem to the side, as we want to use the tops. Take the beaker labeled Nitroxio and pour half into the empty flask. Use the mortar and pestle to grind the mushroom top into chunks. Though crushing it into a powder will make it more potent. Now dump the mushroom into the flash. If you chose the more potent route, I suggest you pour the contents of your mortar farther away from your face so you don't inhale the powder. Even without the other ingredients, Blaxil Mushroom can cause hallucinations. Now push the stopper into the top and shake it for thirty seconds. Don't shake it any longer than a minute or the pressure may cause the stopper to rocket right out of its flask. Now pull out the stopper and let it sit a ways away from you. In the meantime, take the other half of the Nitroxio and pour it into the other empty flask, along with your beaker of Stephornium. Place the flask in the clasp over the Bunsen burner and turn it on. Wait for the liquid to start bubbling. Don't touch it with your bare hands!"

Sainou rolled his eyes, knowing full well that he probably just saved the hand of students who thought their little mitts were burn-proof. He continued. "Using tongs, pull the flask from the clasp and pour the contents into your mushroom-filled concoction. Restopper the flask and let it steam there for two minutes. You didn't throw away your stems, did you? You did?! Now you can't finish! ...Just kidding. They're useless." Of course this heart-stopping 'joke' would only affect those who were doing the procedure as Sainou was explaining it. He continued. "Are your flasks done? Great, now take out the stopper and pour the liquid into the small glass containers. Place the cover with the hole in it over the top. Now take your syringe and insert it into the hole." Sainou scowled at those who laughed at their own dirty thoughts. "Now draw out the poison, and you are finished." He turned back to the class. "Those who were waiting for all the instructions may now begin. Anyone who did it while I was speaking, place all your items before you so I may examine them. If there are any questions, you may now direct them to either me or an aide." How would the students fair?
Make some poison!

If you would like to ask a question to Sainou or Shimizu (or converse with Shimizu, Yuugure, or Zoro/FuwaFuwa-sama), feel free to pm me if you want to include their response in your post.

For those who didn't see my Hello/Goodbye post, Katachi did receive my permission to join the class late. However, to remain fair to all of you, he is starting the thread with a strike.

-Katachi arrived late: Strike 1

'Someone came late' Kin thought, questioning it a bit. He hadn't missed that much of the class and an introduction of materials would replace the bits of lecture. 'How hard could it be' the stray Yagiyo thought to himself, somewhat caught in thought as he heard the instructions to cut. Slipping the small knife down through the shroom cap Kin saw others removing the stems, his blade stopped mid way through a second slice as it dawned upon him. Flipping the cap the young Yagiyo thought to conceal his foul up by hiding the small portion of the cap in his jaw. Cheeking the bringer of new views he carried on with the instructions, his every move careful to not over add any ingredients. Quickly and quietly the shinobi to be worked.

Not long after the instructions had been finished did Kin finish creating his poison, but it was round the time he extracted it by needle that the cheeked article had dissolved enough to que up an involuntary swallow. It hadn't dawned on the young man what happened and due to the stomach acid needing to further break it down to make it work, he wouldn't notice for a few minutes longer.

Yuugure, Kin, and Zoro had all taken the initiative, and decided to craft their poisons as the instructions were given. FuwaFuwa-sama gave a bark of protest, but Zoro would hear none of it. "Nonsense, we can do this easy, even without the instructions." *bwoo* "What do you mean you want your own ingredients? We're in this together buddy." Yuugure's eyes gleamed as he made his concoction. In fact, based on the speed at which he did it, and that he'd done a few steps ahead of the teacher, one could believe that the black-haired youth had probably done this before...a scary and illegal thought. Zoro, on the other hand, was royally screwing stuff up, despite FuwaFuwa-sama's attempts to guide him. He thought himself clever in skipping a few steps, and tried pouring everything together in one go. What resulted was a mini explosion that lightly burned away some of his eyebrows. *woof* "Well how was I supposed to know putting all of the liquids together would do that?" *broor* "Well how did you know that that was going to happen?" *wan* "Pfft. Studying ahead of time..." Zoro grumbled under his breath as his eyebrows sizzled. "Teacher's pet." Shimizu gave them another set of ingredients, and this time FuwaFuwa-sama was the one in control.

Meanwhile, Kin had made the mistake of cutting the mushroom top. A mistake that he could have easily fixed had he just grinded the piece along with the rest of the mushroom cap. But like a child who thought himself clever, he popped the piece into his mouth in an attempt to hide his error. He was able to create his poison without hindrance from the mushroom's effects. However, by the time he'd finished, he started to feel a bit odd. His eyesight felt like it was switching between tremendously sharp and blurry. After a few more seconds, it looked like everyone had sprouted bright red mushrooms on their heads. Not only that, but it felt like every time he tried to move one body part, the opposite one would follow his orders instead. Kin's mind was too muddled to realize this was the mushroom's doing.

When Sainou approached to examine the poison Kin crafted, he cocked an eyebrow. "Hmm... it doesn't look quite as potent as it should be..." He looked up at Kin and knew right away the reasoning. He sighed. "I at least hope you did that one accident." He reached into his coat pocket and produced a vial. He grabbed Kin by the hair, a bit roughly, and yanked back. The boy gave a small interjection, which Sainou took advantage of to pour the liquid into the boy's mouth. "That should get you cleared up in a few minutes. I suggest you don't move, or you'll get stomach cramps." The teacher moved on to a few other students who had finished their poisons, giving Kin time to recover.

There were a few students who hadn't even started yet, and Sainou gave a clap. "Take your time, but not too long. I haven't got all day, nor do my lovely assistants." Turning his attention to those who had finished their poisons, Sainou gave a smirk. "Alright, the last task is to practice administering poison. And wouldn't you know it, we have some volunteers." Three people entered the room.

One was a large man, who towered over everyone in the room. His muscles were exquisite, and upon his face was a goofy grin. His voice was booming as he spoke, and it was heavy with an accent. "Rosh-ehem...Utsufuto is ready to show puny ones that poison not slow him down. He is like mighty mama bear with cubs. Nothing be stopping the mighty Rosh-er-Utsufuto! Buwahahahaha!" His laugh shook the room. The next to enter was a small man, at least compared to the mighty beast of a man beside him. He had raccoon ears and tail, along with a goofy grin of his own. "Tanuki Kechi. I'm getting paid for each syringe of poison I get pumped with, so bring it on kiddos!" The last was an old man, so old that they may wonder how in the world he was still alive. He walked in slowly, his body hunched and his hand held up as if he were using a cane. However, they could see nothing. He was decked out in black and white striped clothes, and even his face followed that color scheme. As soon as he stood beside the others, it became apparent that he was the tiniest of the volunteers. He waved his invisible cane at the crowd of students. The large man cleared his throat. "Ah, he be speaking in mime. Give Ro-Utsufuto a second to translate." He gave a few nods as the old man motioned. "Puny mime man say 'when Pappy be your age, he not only had to make poison, but find ingredients too. You whippersnappers be spoiled and lazy.' Buwahahahaha! Ah, that be truth, yes?" Sainou cleared his throat loudly. "If you gentlemen are done." He focused on the class. "You have two options. You may either choose one of our volunteers, or you may use your poison upon yourself. Choose wisely." The teacher motioned for those ready to pick their poison.

Everyone else: Don't give up! None of you have failed just yet. You can focus on just the poison making part, or you can respond to both posts. Either way, I need something from you guys.

-Katsu Katachi: This is strike 2. You must post within three days or fail the class.

-Aoyama Yukiko: This is strike 1. If you don't post within three days, you will receive another strike. Not posting within another three days will result in your last strike and you will fail the class.

-Akarui Mirai: This is strike 1. If you don't post within three days, you will receive another strike. Not posting within another three days will result in your last strike and you will fail the class.

Yukiko eyed the latecomer, wondering why he was late. Despite her curiosity, she focused on the sensei once more. As the man started to explain the potion process, she listened to the instructions, taking them to memory before starting her potion. Rather than grinding the mushroom top, she chose to crush sid top. She added the ingredents as instructed, leaning it away from her face as she used the powder, though she accidently spilled a bit of said powder. She paused, long enough to listen to the sensei's directions, before finishing up. She filled her syringe carefully, and laid her desk out for the sensei. After completeing, she looked over the volunteers. The white hired man scared her slighly, and she made note to avoid him. The man called Pappy spoke of his own youth, and intrigued the girl. The remaining volunteer, did little to draw her attention. She looked back to the sensei and waited.

The world grew soft as Kin waited for his slower classmates to finish up, his eyes becoming dull as his senses worked their way out of the child's normality. Time became like honey and the hissing of hot liquid and cool ingredient dragged on and on. A soft rapping of feet on the floor seemed to grow louder and louder and a sudden yank on his skull invited a gush of liquid into his open lips. A faint cough resisted, but the medicine found it's way into his system. He sat in his stupor for a few minutes longer, the words of those around him passing by his ears without comprehension. Time seemed to pick up once more as he waited, unsure of his purpose beyond to create the poison which he had already done. The room's door opened and Kin's eyes began to track three figures as they slowly marched in. There was a big man that seemed like one of the backwater northern tribesmen, a small man beast hybrid, and a man coated in paint. The words "Volunteer.... choose... yourself..." came in so crystal clear. The classroom seemed so normal when the three introduced themselves and it struck Kin he had been half asleep. He wasn't sure why he hadn't seen well or why he had fallen asleep to begin with, but it was obvious that the course required the administration of the poison he had made.

Taking his poisoned syringe in hand he thought about what he had heard, he could use one of the volunteers or take it himself. 'It was the mushroom that made me sleepy' he thought as he remembered his high energy at the start of the class. "I'll take it myself," Kin spoke up as he lifted the syringe to his lips and let a drop fall, whispering the flavor to the student. His face scrunched up as he took in how bitter it was.

[ooc: Give me a quick heads up and I can add in a little to the post as either an injection or a drink.]

Noticing that Yukiko had finished her poison, Sainou approached the girl's bench and examined the syringe. "Ah, good good. Went for the chunks instead of full powder. Safer that way." He noticed the small amount of powder on the table and snapped to one of his lowly assistants. A young man ran up as Sainou placed his hand over the fine particles. A mini cyclone lifted it from the table and collected it within the center of the gust. The aide held out a beaker and the teacher guided the tornado over it. The powder fell from the bottom into the container before the man capped it with a stopper. Sainou gave a nod to Yukiko. "It is important to clean your area when crafting poisons. If you don't, one wrong huff can get you wacked out in the head." He tapped his temple and gave a glance to Kin before smiling at the girl. "Don't worry, this won't get you a negative mark. Just make sure to keep that in mind for the future."

Hearing Kin's declaration, Sainou turned to the boy and shook his head. "Such a glutton for punishment I see. Very well, you may proceed." The blonde man walked to his large desk and made a note on his clipboard. Zoro was about to say he'd use it on a volunteer, but FuwaFuwa-sama snatched the syringe into his mouth and stabbed the boy in the crook of the arm with it. Zoro's eye twitched momentarily before his head slammed onto his bench. Yuugure rose from his spot and glided towards Kechi. The tanuki man gave a shake of his tail. "Hmm...you know, seeing this sight, I think I'm regretting my life choi-GACK!" The man was interrupted as the teen grabbed Kechi by the neck and jabbed him with the syringe. The volunteer's eyes glazed over as Yuugure returned to his seat. It was time for the others to finish their tasks.
Sorry for the delay guys! Let me give you guys a little more to work with. Pick who you want to use it on. (yourself or the volunteers) Then how/where you want to administer it. (you can drink it or inject, whichever you'd like to do) If you are going to do it on yourself, then use the description of ->Wraith's Dream<- to write out your character's reaction. If you pick a volunteer, go ahead and pm me if you'd like to add their interaction/reaction to your post. (or you can just do it and sit down at your table again)

Sadly, Katsu Katachi and Akarui Mirai have 3 strikes and have failed the class. You two may take another class at anytime.

-Yukiko: You are safe! You are currently at only 1 strike.

The familiar voice struck through Kin's mind as he looked from side to side, the toxin being used as an injection. The vicious method employed by his classmates inspiring a sense of animosity towards them. 'Just like she told me' he thought as his memories stitched together his past lessons on the expendibility of a shinobi's life. He had been told he would need something special to make himself be worth keeping around and thinking back it stood out that consumed poison was the strongest, so to take in the most of it's effects he needed to eat it.

'Trying to see what all life can be won't make you stronger.'

His 'conscience' told him it wouldn't help, but how could experiencing something not make you better suited to fight against it? With a squeeze and a swallow Kin took in the whole of his creation and consumed it. The taste was bitter and his face seemed to contort in such a way that he seemed pained. Huffing a little trying to clean out his mouth Kin let out a gasp as the first trace of it kicked in. The little shadows in the room seemed to light up with the white of eyes. These eyes slowly growing more vivid as the poison continued to work into Kin, his face turning from a soured expression to that of awe.

'So you can see a little of me?'

Having taken in the inspiring sight and having the voice proclaim it more than part of him brought a light to Kin. Seeing it as more than his mother told him he looked around the room, his head gently waving to and fro. "Who's there," the student whispered only to hear the response seem to come from all around him.

'I am Lu...' the voice cut out as the wraith's dream effected him more and more.
The eyes that Kin saw so clearly swirled and lost their definition. It was sickening to watch as they seemed to warp and twist away. The shadows would be clean for very little time as they were swiftly replaced by teeth and fangs. The shadow's seemed to rip apart to reveal white enamel.

Letting out a gasp of fear and shock Kin fell back from his seat to the floor. Looking around his head whipped to and fro; his eyes darting what appeared randomly as even the smallest shadows seemed to 'open' to reveal teeth. "T-t-ttt-t Teeth," escaped his chattering mouth as his own personal demons took to the roots the poisoned seed had planted. Fear, shock, and desperation began to sink in as Kin's palms dragged his small body backwards and away from the group, his pupils constricted as his fight or flight hormones began to pump through him.

Yukiko nodded, then turned her gaze to Kin, who had chosen to take the poison himself. She blinked, watching the result for a second, before turning to look at the two remaining volunteers. She stood, bringing her syringe with her, and walked towards Pappy. The elder man looked as if his eyes were still tightly shut, and she wondered briefly how he saw anything. However, that wonder seemed to dissipate as she moved closer, the elder man seeming to be staring, at what she couldn't quite put her finger on. She came to an abrupt stop, just before she fully reached Pappy, having bumped into something. Curious, she watched, as Pappy held up a finger, and seemed to open some sort of invisible door. Still quite curious, she stepped forward, placing herself now withing reach of Pappy. She blinked as he place a hand upon her shoulder and nodded. Yukiko took this as a sign to go ahead, and reached up with her hand not holding the syringe. She took Pappy's arm in her hand, and moved his hand from her shoulder. She held his arm in front of her, and lifted the syringe. Her eyes shifted to Pappy briefly, before she pushed the needle into the mime's forearm. She injected the poison, and once injected, she pulled the syringe free. She released Pappy's arm and stepped back. She smiled. "Thank you, Pappy." She said, and turned, headed back to her seat. She sat back down, and returned to watching the class, though she turned her gaze to Pappy briefly soon after sitting down. She was slightly surprised that the mime still seemed unfazed.

Sainou kept close watch on the students, especially the ones who had chosen to take the poison themselves. Kin was showing the usual signs, which was both good and bad. Good, because that meant his mixture had been crafted properly. Bad because...well, his state of mind was obviously a mess. Yukiko approached the mime man and administered her poison to his arm. Sainou nodded as the girl returned to her seat. However, he cocked an eyebrow at Pappy. He approached the man and placed a hand on his back. The old man creaked forward before crashing to the ground, his face planted on the floor. The teacher lightly nudged the mime with his heel to ensure Pappy was breathing before looking to the class. "Such lightweights, am I right?" He chuckled at his own joke before walking to Kin. Sainou placed his hand on the boy's chest, and it visibly glowed a faint blue. After a few seconds, he pulled his hand away, and a gaseous cloud the same color as the Wraith's Dream floated out from the boy's chest. The blonde man waited a moment for Kin to recover before holding up the cloud for the sane students to see. "When dealing with poisons, it is also exceedingly handy to have mastery over Poison Jutsu. Poison Extraction has helped me save countless lives." Sainou produced a vial from his lab coat and placed the poison gas within. He extracted poison from the other plucky students before returning to the front of the class.

"Congratulations to a select few of you! You passed my class and may receive your certificates as promised." A stack of the permits were on his desk, and he quickly wrote out who would receive them before signing the document. He handed a sheet to Yukiko. "Congratulations Yukiko-chan. You remained calm and careful, traits that are important for any wielder of poisons." He went to the back of the class and handed one to Kin. "Congratulations Kin-kun. Though a bit careless, I could see your determination to better yourself. I trust you will use these appropriately. Though do try to keep the self-poisoning to a minimum please?" Lastly, he approached Zoro, but handed the certificate to FuwaFuwa-sama. "Your master is a bit incompetent and cocky, so I'll entrust this to you instead. You, FuwaFuwa-sama, may buy and use poisons. Zoro-kun may not." With that, the teacher returned to the front of the class. "For those who did not pass, I want you to think on what you did wrong. Failure to act in a timely manner can get you killed on the battlefield." He looked to Yuugure. "And poisons are not meant to be the answer to everything. They are serious weapons, sometimes even more dangerous than the sharpest blade. They must be used wisely." He gave a clap of his hands. "And with that, class dismissed." The attendants began to clean the benches as everyone was released back to their homes.
CONGRATULATIONS! Kin and Yukiko have passed the class! *burst of confetti-no-jutsu*

The room seemed full of teeth as Sainou made his way to Kin. With peripheral vision turning black the child shinobi's eyes welled up. What felt like a faint pull at his soul brought light back to the room and a faint blue glow took over his sight for a brief moment. The teeth seemed to fade back into the darkness and the eyes came back. The eyes watched and seemed to smile as the edges curled up. The blue glow ended with the extraction of the toxins and the class carried forward, the wetness of Kin's face blurring his sight. He panted and rubbed his eyes, trying to calm himself down.

Holding in gasps of air Kin forced his breathing back to normal as the instructor congratulated the group. He didn't feel so much like he was going to die, but the eyes that only appeared after ingestion weren't gone, they had reduced in number but were watching him. 'Oh! You can still see me?' The voice cut out as Kin heard his name called out.

"Thank you sensei," he responded quietly. The group was dismissed and Kin tried to piece together what was happening to him. Kin thought that perhaps the poison and the mushroom were still working on him, ninjutsu isn't a cure-all. A trip to his bed and some quiet time would do him best, the class hadn't been that tiring but for some reason the young shinobi was exhausted. Perhaps the drop off from all of his adrenaline was the blame or maybe the wraith's dream had a nasty after effect.

Yukiko followed the sensei with her eyes, as he approached pappy, and caused him to fall face first onto the ground. She hoped the man was still breathing, and by the fact the sensei simply walked away, she assumed he was. Following this, the girl watched with equal curiosity as their sensei removed the toxins from Kin's body. The man's hand glowed a faint blue for a while, before their teacher lifted his hand again, pulling with him a cloud of Wraith's Dream poison. The sensei went on to explain the importance of knowing how to remove poison, before going on to help the other students in Kin's condition. The girl nodded, taking the new information to note was well. She smiled, and accepted the document from the sensei. She watched, as a similar document was given to Kin and the dog. She listened to everything the sensei said following, glancing to Kin once or twice, still unsure about his mental sanity. Her eyes drifted the Pappy, who was still laying with his face planted onto the ground, and she sighed. She had actually liked the mime and would've like to talk with him a bit. She shook her head, and focused on the sensei once more, in time to hear him dismiss the class. She stood, eyeing the odd Kin, before nodding sightly to the sensei. "Thank you for the class, sensei." She said, before turning and picking her way through the other students and towards the door. It had certainly been an interesting day, and she was intent on heading home for the time being.
