Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kamaru knew he was awake even though his eyes were shut; the sounds of early morning played out about him as he pulled the simple blanket closer and sighed. His eyes flashed open sealing away any possibility of going back to sleep. What time had he come in from his last mission after filling out a report? On his way out he had been given another mission and the sortie had him on site no later than two days from now. Kamaru wanted to give himself some time to recoup but the mission brief lets so many questions in his mind making it harder to go to sleep without knowing.

Most people were under the impression assassinations weren’t something given to Main Branch members, Kamaru was one of them. Where the rest of the people who dealt with this sort of things on higher priority missions? Was this some sort of test of him as an outsider? His capabilities as a Sennin to act in the field? Kamaru had very few answers, only more questions to ask himself. He had a mission to do though and after getting rid of the scruffy look he had accumulated over several days out and about he was on the road again.

Omura Akihisa, seemed like a normal guy, simple clothes, a bit of scruff on his chin and a raw fabric frayed cloth tied off around his neck. He greeted Kamaru professional enough before the two picked up supplies to head to the Great Lakes and the supposed place Kamaru’s target would be for the next few days. Kamaru unfortunately wasn’t very social as they got into the waiting game. Between his last mission and sitting almost motionless for long periods of time, Akihisa thought it odd to watch Kamaru sit viewing the site with one hand and taking copious notes in bursts with the other. The silence was deadening for the man but for Kamaru it was part of the job, they needed as much intel as possible.

In surveillance certain things become routine to look for, guard patrols, shift changes, new entities coming and going from the sight. Exploits, weakness, chinks in the security slowly unraveled to Kamaru in his mind from years of experience, mentally he mapped out the best routes in with contingencies. It seemed to Kamaru to be pretty generic. The target had security, nothing extensive just practical for someone with minor concerns with someone taking attempts on his life or someone who wanted another layer of privacy due to having a string of nefarious meetings proceeding over the past few days. While during the day he had benefactors and people coming back which he greeted amiably those visiting him in the late hours of the night under the cover of darkness were meet with the gaze of a cold and methodical man not making any brevity of a pleasant and cheerful nature.

Akihisa was taken off when Kamaru seemed to start backing things up one evening and looked at him questioningly.

”It’s time. I have the security down and I think I’ll be able to predict their responses and timing within reason.” Kamaru said. The man looked over Kamaru’s notes at a glance and focused in one something his voice a bit shaky.

”There were ‘possible bodies’ or ‘body parts’ brought into the residence? Down there?” he stammered out turning a bit pale. Kamaru knew the area of his notes he was referring to, it was the part of Kamaru thinking the man was taking part in some bizarre rituals or sacrifices, Kamaru hadn’t seen living people ushered in so he wasn’t overly concerned. His guide to the area didn’t have the same iron like stomach to deal with such things.

”The rest of the mission doesn’t require your services. If you’re getting cold feet or don’t like things that makes you feel squeamish I won’t think less of you for being on your way now.” Kamaru stated backings his things and notes. Pulling a scroll he looked at the man who seemed to have the idea of flight from the area being in his best interest. The equipment exploded in a puff of smoke as it was sealed away in a scroll. Kamaru finally backed noticed the man and escort of sorts was already going. Going outside the cabin Kamaru looked at the ground. He noticed the fresh tracks headed towards the sight of his target.

”Damn it.” Kamaru said as reasoning kicked in finally as he jogged off in the direction. How much of a head start did the man have? Thirty minutes? He probably wouldn’t make it in time… That didn’t stop Kamaru from forcing chakra into his leg muscles kicking up a small amount of dirt before bursting down the path to his target. Omura Akihisa being a stone layer was something he knew about. Having taken notes while reading lips the words mosaic and circle came to mind, Kamaru hadn’t asked but he figured Akihisa realized he might have been contracted to do some work at the residence. He in truth may have unknowingly done the design and work needed for a ritual summoning circle of sorts used to sacrifice people. Kamaru grit his teeth wondering what the foolish man had gotten to spouting off at the mouth about.

Kamaru arrived outside the cabin without the notice of guards on patrol. He did notice more were out. Screams from inside of someone pleading and shrieks didn’t escape Kamaru. The guards were mostly positioned looking for someone coming down from his direction. Kamaru frowned a bit on the security, simply out in the open patrolling would usually make someone circumvent around them simply to the less guarded areas. With some many people facing one way the rest of the guards in other areas seemed even more lax than Kamaru expected.

As he neared a window Kamaru heard a man begging for his life. He didn’t know what he had done but he wanted no part to do with some kind of ‘demon summoning or demonic sacrifice rituals’ he pleaded, he even added about his warning on someone coming to kill the man but it fell on the deaf ears of Momotami Yajirobei. Kamaru started forming seals as he improved a battle plan as he pulled out scrolls and wires.

The dark figure breaking through the window didn’t surprise anyone as they attacked it. Swords slashed out from the free guards as the duo attacked in unison the third still holding the betrayer in place as a prisoner. What surprised them was the fact the intruder never dodged simply took the attacks letting the blades cut into its flesh. Or rather into what was now seen as mud.

”You have piss poor judgement…” Kamaru commented as he dove through the broken window before springing up and assessing the room. His knee was already connecting with one of the attacking guards already. Eyes focused on Momotami Yaijirobei got Kamaru something he didn’t expect to see. The man’s eyes were wild for one and the fact he was holding a small dagger by the blade as he ran into the circle was another. Kamaru was too slow as he dashed towards him suddenly finding himself flying backwards his vision blurry. Kamaru’s face from his nose down felt pain. His eyes cleared and he was confused by what he saw. From what he could tell this politician had no chakra, let along the ability to summon a creature through any contract, considering the thing in front of him and the meaty fist that had introduced himself to Kamaru he couldn’t tell or fathom what was going on. The secondary attacker with a blade free dashed towards Kamaru on his back only to find himself flying towards the new enemy. Akihisa was too busy screaming ‘no’ thinking himself to be a sacrifice, the guard holding him using him as a shield against everyone else since this seemed new to him as well.

Yaijirobei laugh having found a wall of sorts to keep his would be Kamaru at bay as he headed out the nearest door. Kamaru’s eyes danced in the direction before he noticed the charging abomination hurdling towards him. On the defensive noticed something, in a way he felt screwed. Normally he’d feel some form of challenge from an enemy but it had been a long time since he felt his abilities dwarfed by sheet brute strength. For every attack and parry Kamaru threw he felt his attacks ignored and not guarded against while his own guard continuously battered down. For every attack he meet a counter four fold from the creature. Kamaru stroked his ego only partially with thoughts of whatever it was that he was fighting wasn’t human. Sounds outside though of explosions and several projectiles flying through the air gave a momentary hint of satisfaction.

His mind reeling Kamaru came up on a few things that didn’t add up. If Yaijirobei was already down didn’t that mean he had stumbled into his trap unknowingly, it actually seemed too easy to kill the man with this line of thinking. The thing in front of him hadn’t wavered at all in its advance on Kamaru meaning it wasn’t tied to the summoned in the slightest. A chill ran down Kamaru’s back with the realization the predator in front of him was moving on his own accord with no one giving it instruction, or rather no one could control it. Kamaru in another series of defending a barrage of attacks suddenly felt like his chest had caved in, the air being sucked out of his lungs. Realization he was in midair again for a different reason though quickly came into Kamaru’s mind due to the heightened state and adrenaline. Kamaru saw another head has emerged from the creature’s chest, a set of horns although black dripped with a crimson liquid. A second stub torso grew out of the beasts front confusing Kamaru’s sense of physiology. Kamaru had no idea what he was fighting but he was pretty sure it was smacking him around like a rag doll and he was pretty sure it going to get him killed if he didn’t start thinking quicker than the creature could kill him. From what Kamaru could tell that would be pretty easy for the thing.

Kamaru moved to a fully defensive stance as four arms lashed out at him, and two horns tried to gorge him or lift him with each impaling attempt. Kamaru attempted to use Ninjutsu to strike at it from afar, he quickly discovered all this did was piss off his opponent before he felt himself getting grabbed by the leg and slammed into the ground. Kamaru exploded into a log as he revealed himself as lighting shot at the beast. Kamaru had slowly gone through the motions to figure out what worked best, for the most part he didn’t do that much in terms of even whittling down the beast attacking him. It didn’t tire and the damage accrued was minimal in comparison to what Kamaru was going through. Kamaru had opted to flood the place with fire initially and as much light as possible, the long shadows of night so far had just given the creature more places to attack from. In the back of his mind he wondered if he really was fighting something out of Hell since it was relentlessly trying to devour him it seemed. At most he had slowed the thing slightly. It was still better at fighting at close quarters and taking damage than Kamaru was. A war of attrition was quickly dismissed seeing how he was outclassed in staying power. Even surprise attacks seemed to work better for the creature than Kamaru until he finally took a chance and lead the creature into a feint trying out newer techniques and hoped for the best.

He found a partially useful technique that blinded his opponent in a Blinding Fog. Initially he figured it howled due to the sudden blinding but as it shied away and stopped attack Kamaru pressed the creature now becoming the overpowered tormentor of his quarry. Kamaru eventually won in a way, flopped on the ground he had continued to cast his most effective jutsu at the creature until the second torso had reverted into its chest. Kamaru coughed spitting up blood and tried to control his breathing, his chakra reserves were gone; manually converting it seemed like a necessity, that didn’t mean it wasn’t painful. Kamaru felt like the beast had eaten him and pushed him out like some form of excrement.

Looking back Akihisa had been left by his captor to his own devices, Kamaru helped the man up on wobbling legs before they left the cabin. Kamaru breath was labored and ragged as he drudged out with the man, coughing at times and spitting up blood.

” Hey, Omura…” Kamaru finally said as the two stumbled along.

The man didn’t have a chance to answer before Kamaru’s fist came at his mouth toppling the man backwards pretty easily causing Kamaru to stumble forward before rolling over on the ground to sit.

”That’s for ratting me out and almost getting me killed… you owe me a new jacket and shirt.” Kamaru declared poking a finger through his jacket. His breathing subsided eventually as he pulled out a small firework and light it watching it exploding high above. Cleanup crew would be here soon to clean things up. Kamaru could use some cleaning up. Again he had more questions and few answers, he definitely knew one thing, he’d be sleeping for the next few days.
