Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

“Two-sixty five, Two-sixty six…” Kahako counted as she continued her new regimen of strength training and exercise. Though childbirth was an amazing moment in the human life cycle, it did terrible things to a soldier's body. If the nine months she could not train, she not only gained weight, but also lost her muscle mass. The health pill formula Kitsune created (which she perfected into a delicious veggie shake) came at the nick of time in getting and keeping her healthy through her pregnancy.

Now, it was back to brass tactics. Kahako had to be at her best if she was going to lead this division and be head of medical combat. The future coming, no matter the new Kage, would be turbulent. Important points the village strived for would change. And if the leader was more aggressive and peaceful? Well, Kahako had a feeling the ANBU would be out in full force. And the Sentou Henkan would be right behind them.

“Three-hundred” she finally said before grabbing the rail and flipping backwards over it. It wasn’t always the best way to disengage from a hanging crunch, but Kahako always found a little delight in the mid air flip. A soft click came at the door to the gym. Kahako hadn’t paid much mind to it at first, all mednin were open to the gym suite attached to the Aesculapium at any time. Instead she was focused on applying a weighted chest piece over the black tank before taking a hop on the treadmill. Only when it was fully fastened did Kahako turn to greet her colleague.

“Ah, Tsuyoshi-kun,” Kahako said, noticing the newest member to her division. “I hope this day is treating you well?” Kahako’s typical workout gear was close fitting, like any other known workout gear. No one would look out of place here in her current clothing, but it wasn’t her clothing that made Kahako’s appearance stand out. Up one arm and down the other were tiny and not-so-tiny pin pricks. They almost looked like bite marks that would disappear under her black tank top and across her neck. One particularly large and faded gash covered the expanse of her left shoulder, and a dark, thick scar wrapped around her neck.

“Were you here for the gym, or did you need me for something?” she asked as she turned to hop on the treadmill next to her.

The day was still early, and Junko had already endured several devastating training rounds. Ranging from spars, weight regimes, runs, and medical practices. He had met numerous individuals, all talented within the division. It was only his first day, and Junko had already begun making a name for himself. The training wasn't as harsh as Daisukes, but it still put a whooping on the medical shinobi.

“Ah, Tsuyoshi-kun,”
"I hope this day is treating you well?”

Coming into the weight room, Junko immediately took a seat while listening to Kahako. Getting comfortable with a sigh of relief, Junko nodded. "Pretty good day. Very progressive and welcoming. So welcoming that I already have a mission." Junko said shaking his head with a smirk.

"Were you here for the gym, or did you need me for something?”

"Both actually. Was told to hit the iron one last time for the road. Was also told that the lovely Kahako was training as well. So, here I am! To not only train, but assist you with your boredom through conversation." Junko said with a smile. His muscles was sore, still throbbing from earlier, but he knew he had to stay on the grind. Especially With this mission he was assigned to, he needed to stay in top condition.

OOC: I'm about to post in mission request

Ataeru was getting his terrain down again around the medical complex since his time away. It had always amazed him how much things could change in six years. His usual stomping grounds were all but vanished as he had honestly hoped they would and while it had not been a decade since he had been Medical Sennin for the most part people had general not noticed him either suspecting he was not Itonami or that it simply did not matter. They wanted doctors and Ataeru was not wearing anything to indicate he was even a shinobi let alone a well-practiced doctor. Some would a say a little too practiced but that was beside the point.

One of the newer buildings that intrigued him was the work out facilities. Honestly why had no one thought of having an official structure connected to the main building before or during his own time. It’s terribly wonderful how obvious things are in hindsight. A place for both therapy training and general shinobi training post recovery. It was much safer here then on their own due to having regular staff patrols but at the same time it allowed a little freedom to those who normally did specialized training.

It was him opening up the door to one of the facilities that he came in part of way through a conversation with two random people. Ataeru pushing down his pink sunglasses and moving his medium length multi-colored hair so he could get a better look at the two. He was wear more traditional robes and garb then one might expect him to wear if you really did know him but he was starting to run out of clothing which was still large chore at home that needed to be done. Ataeru placed a hand behind his head and bowed. “Ahh! my sincerest apologies…”

The dark sage lifted up his head; “I was merely taking a look around sorry for inter…” Ataeru paused and almost openly blank stared at Kahako. The first thing everyone who knew Ataeru was that he frequently visited the records and made sure he knew everyone before he met them. The second however was that Ataeru was fully taken aback by Kahako. Now when he had known her he thought she was a child and truth be told she was. He knew now that she was going to be leading the medical combat division but what struck him even more so was the fact that she was a young beautiful woman now.

He blinked twice and did not blush as would a young boy at a lovely lady but more so like a father looked down to someone who was one of his kids friend…holy crap time sure does fly by. His eyes however lingered to where she had pin pricks, a gash, and a scar was what caused the man the swallow. Ataeru was good at a poker face and his emotions were something he understood better than anyone. Being an empathetic made him a master of this but there was a lot going through his head.

Maybe Kahako would not recognize him and being rude he put a hand behind his head, closed his eyes and nervously chuckled. “My…my apologizes. A man should not stare at a woman such as I have. Please forgive my intrusion again.” The Ex-Medical Sennin bowed his head also to the man who was in the room extending the apology to him as well. For some reason Itonami assumed Kahako would not recognize him and said, “If it’s not too personal I just wanted to inspect some of the equipment…I will not be in your way.” He would wait for a reply before moving should they rather just desire privacy. He honestly had no idea what they might have intended to speak about.

Kahako’s eyebrow rose at the mention of a mission already on his first day, but to hear it wasn’t surprising. The most promising mednin in their branch, plus Daisuke’s student. If anything, the members of the division were ready to test him the moment they heard he was joining. "Both actually. Was told to hit the iron one last time for the road. Was also told that the lovely Kahako was training as well. So, here I am! To not only train, but assist you with your boredom through conversation."

Kahako laughed lightly at the comment. It was rare for such a jingle to fill the room. “Careful, Tsuyoshi-kun. Acquire any more silver on your tongue and humanity will have to create a better word for swoon.” She hopped on the machine, immediately ramping it up to a steady jog. “But I do appreciate the company. Any reservations about the ANBU you’ll be working with? Excited?” She grinned, getting straight to the point. There was always a moment when finesse and casual chatter, but like Junko said, this was his last time meeting her before he left for who knew how long. Might as well get the important points out of the way.

However his answer would wait, as they were graced with another presence. “Ahh! my sincerest apologies…” he said just as Kahako turned to see the stranger. “I was merely taking a look around sorry for inter…” Dressed in surprisingly common clothing, the man stared at her. Normally, she would have found the eyes odd, but she caught the specific points where his eyes zoned in. Additionally, his stare was not lude. If there were any nasty thoughts behind it, he hid it well.

“It is perfectly fine.” she said, turning down the machine after only a few short minutes to properly speak to the man. “This area is open to all shinobi and patients, not just the staff of the hospital.” Unsure if he even was a shinobi himself she added, “I only ask that you remain out of areas that are for authorized personnel only.”

Snapping out of his ogle-not-ogle, he bowed apologetically again. “My…my apologizes. A man should not stare at a woman such as I have. Please forgive my intrusion again. If it’s not too personal I just wanted to inspect some of the equipment…I will not be in your way.”

A smile crossed her face again. For someone who looked older than her, the man was certainly… bishounen… “It is fine, most of the time people see me in my jacket and scarf. It is understandable why you would be taken aback.” Fortunately the mill was a quiet machine. When she started it up again, it did not drown out noise like the other machines did. “Like I said, this area is open to almost anyone. I am Shinrya Kahako should you have any questions. My colleague here is Tsuyoshi Junko.” She nodded in Junko’s direction before letting the man move return to his inspecting.

This created a dilemma for Kahako, however. She did not know this man, and though he seemed quite harmless, there was a level of discrepancy when it came to talking to Junko about his upcoming mission. ‘A Matter of National Security’ type of level. That conversation would have to wait until a later time it seemed.

“When will you be leaving?” Kahako asked softly instead as she kept an eye on the man behind her. She used the mirrors on the walls to keep a close eye on his actions. Keeping her jogging stance relaxed while she remained alert to his presence. There had been one too many explosions in the hospital as of late, and she would like to avoid anymore attempted assassinations on anyone today.

Kahako wasn't wasting no time, already getting a head start with her workout. Watching her jog, her body was something fierce. She was a tiger that had already acquired her stripes. being himself, Junko wouldn't ask question, it would probably make things awkward, Especially since she was so stunning.

Parting his lips, Junko hesitated. Before he could even respond, an awkward presence was felt. One which Junko could actually call, familiar. Looking at the door as the individual entered, Junkos body seemed to warm up as his curse seals flared, giving off a slight sting. The strange man seemed to be apologetic as he stared at Kahako.

"Cat got his tongue?" Junko thought as he tilted his head to the side. It would seem as if their convo would have to wait.

“It is fine, most of the time people see me in my jacket and scarf. It is understandable why you would be taken aback.”
“Like I said, this area is open to almost anyone. I am Shinrya Kahako should you have any questions. My colleague here is Tsuyoshi Junko.”

Giving a nod, Junko stood. Starting with a slight stretch, it was time for him to get off his ass and knock out his work out. "Feel free to work out." Junko said as he made his way to an open area. Junko didn't know the new comer, nor trusted the new comer. Welp, that's what came with being a new comer.

“When will you be leaving?

"Probably tomorrow." Junko said. Focusing his chakra, Junko decided to Use a technique to train/increase his spirit and physical energy reserves. A yellow chakra began to sprout from his ankles and wrist, locking together like cuffs. In order for Junko to operate like he wanted, he'd need to actively cycle his chakra throughout his entire body in order to simply move, let alone fight/workout. Beginning a warm up, Junko struggled, slightly straining to move his foot forward.

So this was what it felt like? He guessed that he had not met her all that many times nor directly worked with her all that much but even still he could remember just a few times…he came back in when she was speaking about how he was not allowed to go into the authorized zones. He placed a hand on his chin and said, “I suppose that would make sense for me considering…” That was right he had zero jurisdiction. Ex-Medical Sennin was now just a puny little Jounin and even then it looked as though that paperwork was still running through the system. He was barely even a shinobi not even one ot common populace. Ataeru wore a semi-defeated expression towards this but could only really sigh and go about his work examining the equipment that helped with post-trauma leg wounds. He pulled out a tiny notebook with a pen and began to sketch ideas of improvements while comment on the improved design that these had to when he had been here. Needless to say medical techniques change rather rapidly and he was sorely out of touch with the newest practices.

He chuckled to himself thinking about how barbaric some of his practices might seem to all the young children running around. Ataeru looked back at the two and smiled at them. “Ahh! Yes I know both of you either directly or indirectly through the Academy, the Main Office Records, or the Medical Staff listings, though one certainly more personally than the other.” Obviously giving Junko more attention in that explanation since he defiantly had never met him personally or had he? Ataeru stood up and looked at his notes moving over the Machine and taking notes and looking how it was functioning.

Either way he could not help but wonder…oh who was he kidding he simply must ask. “Is this facility here used only by those recovering or also by Medical Shinobi during their breaks?” Kahako asked something that he ignored mainly due to the fact that he sudden became quite interested in Junko. Ataeru watched the man as he suddenly produced four chakra bangles and suddenly the weight training had begun.

Ataeru approached him while still keeping his distance. “Gravity Jutsu…no seems more like a dense chakra? Probably so considering the field in which he is moving is not affected…” Moving a page in his notebook Junko had quickly become not only a drawing but a diagram of thoughts and procedures. Ataeru’s eyes barely left Junko as his pen ran circles along the page.

Ataeru blinked once and said, “Now just keep doing what you’re doing and ignore me I want to see how this entire things works out as I am sure it’s not…well I’ll be quiet.” Ataeru did not give his name like socially he should have but who could remember things like that when there is so much to learn.

“No Junko-kun really could you do that to anyone or just yourself I can’t help but want to know about this?” What could he say something new to explore caught him in an interesting mood.

“Ahh…” Kahako responded before Unnamed Man cut in. “Ahh! Yes I know both of you either directly or indirectly through the Academy, the Main Office Records, or the Medical Staff listings, though one certainly more personally than the other.” Kahako gave Junko a ‘you know this guy?’ look as he began warming up. Kahako definitely didn’t. If he did why didn’t he mention him or actively engage in conversing?

Odd… “Is this facility here used only by those recovering or also by Medical Shinobi during their breaks?” “By Both. Since most patients are shinobi anyway, we make this place open to all except common civilians” Kahako was initially against the idea of making it open to both. It could be traumatizing for permanently injured patients to see healthy, fit shinobi at the peak of their health. But the word ‘budget’ trumped over any argument one could make.

The first question was safe. However the moment he started deeply analyzing Junko and asking questions about the abilities of his chakra, Kahako heard red sirens in her mind. She turned off her machine, the dying revs of the engine carrying her off the rubber track onto solid ground.

“I’m sorry sir, I didn’t quite get your name…” Her tone was carefully placed. Friendly, inviting like she wanted to actively engage in conversation with him, an expression of slight curiosity in who he was. But her eyes were sharp. He was analyzing a recently promoted mednin’s chakra abilities, one who was about to go on a covert mission the very next day, and was under her authority.

Not okay. “Are you a part of the medical research division?” she continued, waiting for his response and watching his scribbles on Junko. Who he was and what he was planning to do with those notes decided whether or not he would be allowed to leave with them today.

Raising a brow, Junko became slightly confused as the man began to mumble. Next, he began to babble, moving more and more, causing a shift in the room. "His presence, reminds me of someone." Junko thought starring at the man with a blank expression.

"No Junko-kun really could you do that to anyone or just yourself I can’t help but want to know about this?”

Breaking his train of thought, Junko was paying attention again. Giving a smirk of his own, Junko realized he didn't trust the newcomer and neither did Kahako as she turned off the treadmill. Parting his lips to speak, he was quickly interrupted by Kahako.

"I’m sorry sir, I didn’t quite get your name…”
"Are you a part of the medical research division?”

"Haha, mothers." Junko thought as his smirk faded. It was the first time he felt a motherly spirit to protect him. Growing up, he didn't have parents to protect him. Instead, he had the kumogakure freezing streets that forced him to grow up. "Excuse the mistrust, but the very last time I was welcomed with a smile such as yours, the entire room blew up." Junko said bluntly. Unfocused, his chakra was on the fritz due to the cuffs.

Even his curse seal began to activate, slowly flowing through his body, pulsing with a dark entity. Hopefully, the man didn't realize it and take it as a threat. Refocusing, Junkos body illuminated in his golden chakra. Dispersing his chakra, Junko released the cuffs. He'd need to perfect this manipulation of chakra, hopefully making it into a new proficient training jutsu.

His curse seal halted as he was beginning to regain control. Surprisingly, runic markings wasn't spread over his entire body. Maybe, his body was use to the seals.

Ataeru physically was pulled out of analytical mode when his empathetic abilities detected a change in the environment. Oh…right…Ataeru chuckled lightly to himself and took his glasses off his face and placed them in his pocket. He moved so he could face them both and gave a deep bow, his hair falling down slightly. “My deepest apologizes…I have not been courteous at all and my manners need to return to me.” He stood up with an apologetic smile and placed a hand behind his head. “My name is Itonami Ataeru I was the Medical Sennin back when Shin first became Raikage. I was the for-runner for Kinjutsu acceptance in the village as well as the lead Kinjutsu specialist in the world. I was lead Medical Researcher and in my opinion a surgery expert, Dark Sage, and once head of the Academy for our shinobi students. I also happen to be very good with helping the mental states of people and dealing with emotions.”

Ataeru smiled at them with genuine joy in his heart. He really felt bad that these situations were now the cause for those to not have open hearts. “I have noticed that no one seems to recognize me but then again it has been many years since I was last in the village and needless to say someone reaching my age as a shinobi is quite unlikely. Saito-kun is really quite a breathtaking individual. I still need to visit what few friends and student I still have hence why I decided to do a tour of the old stomping grounds.”

Ataeru certainly did not leave the impression of a professional nor someone who had done the things he said but he was generally quite a laid back individual. “I came back because I heard the terrible news about my friend and dearest Raikage and I figured me supporting the new Raikage and helping around the village for a while would help with the stability. Needless to say I also got a little home sick.”

He shifted a little and then continued, “I had actually been hoping to meet up with some of the higher ranking Medical staff to formally introduce myself and here I just happen to run into two of them. You know your records are rather impressive. Also I apologize if looking into your records bothers you I have been doing it for some many years that I generally like to know most of the people I may run into. That and I seem to babble far too much you guys should speak as well. Also if I am interrupting anything just tell me to leave though I would so enjoy brewing tea for you and having an engaging conversation.”

Ataeru blushed and clapped his hands onto his face as if snapping himself out of it. “Ahh, sorry I’m still talking…” Ataeru placed his hands behind his back and stood up straight and tall. He was around six foot one inch and about a hundred seventy pounds. He was doing his best to give off a more formal intellectual look. Though to be honest this was just how he felt most comfortable, honestly he was rather embarrassed meeting up with people so suddenly and informally.

"Excuse the mistrust, but the very last time I was welcomed with a smile such as yours, the entire room blew up." Junko said bluntly. It seemed he was on her 'I do not know, nor trust you' wavelength.

Ataeru chuckled lightly, and took his glasses off his face to placed them in his pocket. Then he turned fully into a deep bow. “My deepest apologies…I have not been courteous at all and my manners need to return to me.” He stood up with an apologetic smile and placed a hand behind his head. “My name is Itonami Ataeru I was the Medical Sennin back when Shin first became Raikage.

All the stranger needed to do was utter his own name, and Kahako knew who he was. She read some of his papers when she herself was still a trainee, even considered expanding on his notes of human behavior. To meet him in person was a bit surreal. He was a paragon of their branch, in the same league as Karubin or Isaki Kushin.

Kahako stayed silent for a majority of the monologue he produced, noting his relaxed demeanour and… quite civilian clothing for someone so esteemed. Something itched at her though as he continued to speak. It wasn’t that he was necessarily annoying her, just that he was reminding her of... something annoying. Maybe someone?

‘Oh Raiden…’ Kahako thought to herself as her eyes grew an odd appearance of realization and mortification. He was an older, more chattier version of Keiji. Medical prodigy, unprofessional casualness, and all. If Kahako could have had an idol, it would have been Itonami Ataeru. And he was an older version of the laid-back, pain-in-her-rear Keiji. She refused to believe it.

She mentally slapped herself a good few times before getting back to the task at hand. “I do apologize for the skepticism, Itonami-sama.” She also bowed slightly in apology for her bold statements and lightly laced accusations. “As Tsuyoshi-san mentioned, we have lost too many medical shinobi in the past few years due to carelessness of our attention and security. Any form of study upon the individual medics in the hospital is considered a higher level of security.”

At this Kahako glanced at Junko. She had not known him for long, but he was the student of a treasured senpai of hers. Though they were very close in age, Kahako still felt the need to look after him with Daisuke gone. The meeting in Kitsune’s office only increased the concern. “While I do not mind one so esteemed as yourself studying to further the abilities of our staff--at their discretion,” she added, “I will have to request that your research remains within the hospital’s research wing and does not leave this building.”

She turned her attention back to the former sennin. “Especially those in my division. Unprotected research can create a fatal situation to my staff while they are gone.” If Ataeru did his homework, which it clearly seemed like he had, then he would know the matters of the Sentou Henkan were almost as secret as the branch they primarily partnered with.

At Ataeru’s response, Kahako loosened a little. “Though a dark sage and Kinjutsu specialist amongst our top researchers would be desperately needed. There is not nearly as much knowledge on either as there used to be.” She commented lightly, completely ignoring some of the great contributions Keiji put into the field. “That is, if you are with the medical branch again?”

Junko thought starring at the previous medical sennin. Despite the credentials, the guys still had to earn respect. Hell, even the current medical sennin didn't have Junkos respect.

As the guy finished up his introduction, Junko laughed a bit. "Stop apologizing.." Junko said shaking his head. "You've been apologizing since the moment you entered." Junko said putting his hands in his pockets.

“I do apologize for the skepticism, Itonami-sama.”

Rolling his eyes, Junko shook his head again with a smirk. "So apologetic." Junko thought continuing to listen.

“Though a dark sage and Kinjutsu specialist amongst our top researchers would be desperately needed. There is not nearly as much knowledge on either as there used to be.”

"I know a good amount due to a few encounters and study sessions. As a matter of fact, you may can help me Ataeru. Lately, my cure seals have been on the Frits. Think you can look into it?" Junko said looking at the new comer. Well, old comer.

Kahako was stunning. Not in the sense of beautiful or sophistication…though not to say she was lacking it there. What he really meant was the fact that she was in all accounts a great leader. She laid the rules out for him which he nodded and it made sense especially if the case was true that Tsuyoshi had mentioned. Ataeru’s demeanor changed as Kahako spoke. He stood up more straight, the smiles started to fade and put his hand on his chin as he thought about what the woman was saying. She was not only protecting everyone but she was informative in a way that it was concise and to the point.

Tsuyoshi mentioned that he was apologizing to much with which he grinned and nodded. True enough that there was wasted breath and time if one focused too much on it. The fact that Tsuyoshi called him by his first name caught him off guard. Ataeru grinned. He liked this man who knew that Ataeru while serious was also slightly relaxed. After all he was not a Sennin anymore and was more than likely even outranked by these two. Which Kahako brought to his attention in a less then direct way.

Ataeru shifted a bit and put his notebook away. His hair turned into a dark blue color and he simply said, “First thing is first. I cannot help but read emotions and potentially surface thoughts. I understand how much this can unnerve or bother people. I promise never to disclose this nor act upon it. I just want to be upfront about this ability.”

Ataeru then looked towards Kahako and said, “With your permission of course I would be more than willing to merely take a look at the sealing methods of curse seal and attempt to deduce what maybe the issue if any. I promise no action will be taken without first consoling you and Tsuyoshi.”

With that Ataeru then continued, “Finally, Shinrya-san about my re-register as a full time Mednin. I find myself in need of someone such as yourself to discuss the matters of my re-initiation and if it would be recommended or not.”

With that said he would wait for the two to decide what the next course of action would be between them.
