It seems previous reports were just what had been discovered things were a lot more long than originally thought the hood figure explained. Kamaru listened shaking his head and looking around at the chaos and waved a hand. ”Ya think?” was all he had to report before a thing envelop was shoved into his hand. The hooded figure and others needed to ensure the safety of the people but having someone take the findings they had so far from new cases to the hospital would be beneficial to finding a cure. Supposedly some people had thought they may have been infected from injuries and had self-amputated or confined themselves for the safety of others if the injury where death was the only option, some took it immediately others seemed to wait, most were either fighting on or cutting themselves out as a liability all together. In a war against an infectious disease such things as a dwindling able bodied fighting force didn’t look promising. Kamaru stopped complaining and did as was asked.
Taking to rooftops and disregarding everything around him unless it impeded his travel took a bit of focus, although conflicts seemed to be more fighting and less slaughter it didn’t sit well diverting around various skirmishes. At one point Kamaru found himself surveying an area to get through when he noticed someone with a dagger in a window looking out at the streets below before they made eye contact. The surprised look on the man’s face pointing furiously behind Kamaru before he closed his window and barricaded it was enough to get Kamaru to turn around.
Seeing a large liquid cloudlike mass of blackness swarming towards him would be odd enough. The added effect Kamaru though it might get him infected with something didn’t sit well with him so he got a move on. He noticed once he started to move away it picked up the pace too.
”Been a minute since I went for a run I guess.” Kamaru muttered looking at the scenery in front of him and judged the distance of the black swarm behind him.
Taking off left tiles skittering off the rooftop and a smirk creeping onto Kamaru face, considering the situation it wasn’t really all that fun. But considering he was in the middle of a warzone and ‘something wicked this way comes’ was following him he figured why not smile, it was in truth just another day on the job. He found out his follower was mostly following and couldn’t anticipate where he was going and why. It wasn’t meant or sent to stop him he deducted, which was good and bad, great since it wasn’t purposely sent to kill him bad since it was trying to kill him out of his bad luck possibly. On the bright side someone at least warned him he though so he should be thankful for that later if he had time he’d go back to thank the man but for now Kamaru wanted to deal with one crisis at a time.
Kamaru let out a low whistle a few minutes later, the black swarm was keeping up at a distance occasionally attacking. Kamaru was still on course for the most part and it wasn’t really gaining that much. When he could he’d charge though skirmishes sending out warnings as he approached over comm channels dropping in on various enemies before the black cloud would descend on them not finding Kamaru within their numbers. Kamaru had to admit that part was kind of fun.
Kamaru hadn’t figured out exactly what the cloud swarm was, it would leap after him at times, cling and climb on walls to chase him as at times glide long distances in pursuit. Blasts of various sorts only slowed it down momentarily making Kamaru wonder if it was regenerating between attacks. Radioing into the hospital about the situation had them aware and they were waiting in ambush. All Kamaru had to do now was make it into the kill zone and get out without getting injured, maimed, killed, or infected. Dashing out from between two building into a clearing got something crashing down on him suddenly his body being smashed into the ground by the odd weight of the cloud. Kamaru's body was smeared along the pavement by… well most people wouldn’t know what to call it. It looked like a cross between a Walrus, a rabbit, and a dragonfly if it was the size of an elephant. Kamaru looked at the version of him smeared on the ground now looking more like drying mud than a mud clone decoy. He was glad he had given it the slip. Waving at the creature he took off again seeing it enraged by the taunt. As it warbled out an oscillating tone it stopped as sound stopped around it. Kamaru smiled since he had turned around having spotted people on the rooftops going through hand seals. Not wanting to slack off too much now he turned around going through practiced motions as well. What followed was a combination of various high level jutsu from the rooftops, Kamaru watching them as they came down and supplementing them with additional attacks for added effect and redirecting attacks the massive creature moved out of the way of.
Someone suddenly called to take cover and as everyone did the black massive shadow creature exploded into liquid viscous piles of whatever made it up. Kamaru didn’t want to really know. Find out who was in charge of the support team Kamaru found out he was from the hospital. Giving him the information and asking about the researcher and injured member’s status got him the details. Kamaru sighed and stretched when someone came to check him out to give him a clear billing. Kamaru humored them and took the time to take a break. It seemed the researcher’s assistance had been beneficial and he was thankful he had the Anbu bring him in while he was busy. Although the intel he brought would isolate specific types to combat. Kamaru realized people looking at him and he sighed before someone said it.
”Since you’re cleared for combat when we’re done we were wondering if you could take something back to the Onyx Sanctum, it’ll help combat this epidemic greatly.” someone requested hopefully.
With pursed lips Kamaru just waved him on to spill the details. Once the work was done he might as well… For the last few days he seemed to be everyone errand boy so why stop now.
