Thick BloodEvery life Hitomi found herself trying to find the right weapon. Each time what she thought would fit never seemed to want to use the same weapon twice. She walked through the armory running her fingers across each weapon trying to find one that would call out to her.
As she was about to give up for the day her hand wrapped around one that felt right, looking down she saw that it was a whip. Was an old personality fighting its way through? She fought that though down and took the weapon to the practice field. It would take a style of its own to use this weapon properly. Attack was simple, she launched the end out at her targets, but defense was another story. She would have to rely more on her own body then the weapon to defect attacks. She spent many hours working on her foot work and distracting techniques with the weapon before she was happy that she could use it in a fight.
This new body required that Hitomi find its limitations. Her preferred element was that of blood. It was subtle not seen until things when array but the power it held was undeniable. Hitomi slowly dragged a kuni over her wrist allowing ti to slice into her skin and veins. It was not a deep cut but this was not something she would take lightly. The blood started to flow out of her body it flowed at the normal pace of most humans. This would simply not do. Hitomi focused inwards, pouring her chakra into her own blood, ignoring the pool that was forming under her arm. As she poured her chakra into her blood she could see the blood slow as it came from her arm until it was finally sludge. This would allow her to work with her own blood.

Hitomi’s fingers itched as she prepared to pull out her whip once again. Having a weapon like this meant she had to go on the offensive quickly since she would not have much way to defend herself with it. Her hands had been getting quicker and quicker but she found that placement of her tools was half the battle in the game of speed. She had to keep everything within easy reach so that she could pull it out at a moment’s notice. Her hand grabbed the whip almost without a thought and before she could register that she was attacking with it the crack of the whip had hit its target had reached her ears.

As her training progressed, Hitomi was finding that there were many advantages to her chosen weapon. The flexible nature of it presented Hitomi the ability to keep some distance from her opponents but still reach out and touch them. Her own innate accuracy played well to it as she found she could snake it around to hit targets that might not be available to her. It also presented her with the ability to do silly things like trip her opponents or even bind them. Despite the advantages Hitomi found that she had to train even harder to be as accurate as she needed to be with it. She had targets that were getting increasingly smaller to force to have pin point accuracy with it.

Hitomi stood looking at the mirror encased from head to toe in metal. It was an interesting feeling but one that she needed to get used to as it was a major factor of this body. She looked at the metal and realized that there had to be a way to improve it. Mentally she peeled the metal back from her wrist and quickly cut it. Her blood flowed from her wrist but instead of pouring to the floor it flowed up her body interweaving between the seams of the metal armor. It did not take much experimenting to realize that neither armor was as good as when she only concentrated on one at a time but each kind of armor protected from different things. It was better to fill in the weak spots of her defense then leave them wide open.
Insight
Bull StrThe name of the game for today was situational awareness. Being accurate and strong in combat was only one side of the coin, Hitomi needed to be aware of where her target was. She had been working on developing a sense where her target was even when she could not see it. She stared at target, or what she could see of the target as it was hidden behind a shield. She flicked her whip out bending it around the shield to find the true target, a small piece of paper that she knew was there even though she could not see it.
One of the most important parts of Hitomi’s training, or at least in Hitomi’s mind was strength training. She knew there was no way she would be able to compete with those that had the genetics for strength and had been lifting weights all their lives. Instead she worked on her chakra control, to allow her life energy to flow through her and to bolster her mussels without making her look like she spent her life in the gym. It was a subtle art and one that Hitomi wondered if it had been lost over the ages. Perhaps with the rise of more Shinobi techniques like this will also come back.
