Kotto Jinbei. Located deep within the Solum de Asphodelus, where the foothills meet the lush dark forest lived a small village tribe the origins of which are still largely unknown. Here Jinbei worked as farmer tending to crops during the day and acting as village security at night. Threats out this far didn’t come in the form of men, instead beasts; plague and famine were constantly striving to choke the life of those within this small village. Still the men and women of this humble village worked day and night honing their craft and traditional unarmed fighting style. Kotto Jinbei was no different. He was a staunched and serious man. Caring for his crops was his way to contribute what little he could to his people, but the villagers saw much more in him then he did in himself. In particular was the bright eyed female warrior Sora.
Young, dumb, and full of love the pair were inseparable. She loved him for his loyalty and devotion, He loved her for her rambunctious heart and tenacious fighting style. There was none within their clan that could match her ferocity and grit. She would become known as the guardian, the most elite fighter in the clan. However Sora wanted none of it, she didn’t want to wither away wasting her life in such a boorish way, no she spoke to Jinbei about leaving together and finding their own path in the larger, more exciting Kumogakure. It wasn’t until the eve of the birth of their first son that she managed to convince him to leave.
Oren grew up studying under the tutelage of his mother while his father worked night and day scrapping by a living as rare foods merchant. The boy was a talented pugilist flashing displays of brilliance similar to his mothers long before he was accepted into the academy. There he continued to impress, rising through the ranks until he graduated after only one attempt at his genin exam. Life was uneventful for Kotto Oren until he unwittingly found himself in the middle of an illegal underground battling arena.
Undisputed champion, this was the title the young chuunin risked everything to attain. If his superiors found out that he was participating in these unsanctioned matches he would be placed on unpaid leave, if not worse. Yet something deep within him forced the 14 year old back each night. These battles were down right bloody, followed often by death and heartache. It took approximately 3 years for him to win himself a title shot, and another 2 years to attain the coveted title. Oren held this title for nearly two decades before leaving the ring for good. He was a king of the arena, using his rock hard taijutsu style to win himself battle after battle and match after match.
Just a few years into his reign as champ he had his only child. A daughter named Mika. She was unassuming and kept her nose clean. She found herself an expert linguist and unparalleled tactician. She was a shinobi, but not the fighting kind, she worked as an analyst, reading and writing reports. It was her job to create hypothetical studies of possible threats to Kumogakure, she was good at her job, and liked helping her country. It was within the ranks of the Kumo-nin that she met her husband Yama Kobetsu. He came from a lower noble house, one that had long ties within Kumogakure. The Yama clan a proud and powerful people, descended from a long line of samurai. They upheld strong moral code and valued character and loyalty among their highest virtues. The Yama elders were masterful swordsmen some of whom were even requested to work as seconds to the Raikage vanguard. Kobetsu kept tradition alive, carrying his two katana, Byakuya and Illya.
On the 15th day of the first month of the year Kobe was born. The boy was a surprise to the young unmarried couple. Both the Kotto family and Yama family struggled to accept the relationship of the two love stuck shinobi. Yet despite their many grievances with each other the two families could not quarrel once they bore witness to the miracle that was the young child. Kobe was coddled and pampered from a young age. The Yama family were strong proponents of having the boy follow the clans traditions and learn to live by the blade, while Mika wanted her son to walk his own path and become a scholar avoiding violence as best he could.
Under the watch watchful eyes of the Yama and his mother, Kobe began his studies at the academy. He was a sharp and tactful child earning the praise of his teachers quickly. His scores excelled in two distinct categories; analytics and kenjutsu. He began his training with a small knife, a gift from a Yama elder. He carried it on the small of his back mimicking some of his older brethren. He graduated the academy early, being one of the youngest members of his class. As a genin he participated in several team-based mission about the village, creating a name for himself about the villagers. He was known as a kind, respectful and trustworthy boy who would frequently be sought after for small unassuming tasks.
Requirements for becoming chuunin were different for each genin. Typically a potential candidate would have to undergo some grueling examination that would pit them against their own peers in a stunning display of shinobi prowess. This wasn’t the case for Kobe. He was promoted based on merit, this couldn’t be denied, however he was given a private exam by his own clan. The thirteen year old displayed excellent swordsmanship and insight. With a sword he was dangerous, yet his mind was sharper still. Thanks to Mika her son was at the forefront of intellect. With a keen mind he was able to outwit his opponents long before he had to out duel them.
As a jounin he began by making a name for himself by taking down the very underground fight club that kept his grandfather busy for nearly three decades. Singly handedly he infiltrated its infrastructure and took it down piece-by-piece, finding each brick and mortar and tearing it down swiftly and without remorse. In fact it was only after being strong-armed by his parents that he decided not to arrest his own grandfather for his participation in the illegal activities. These were but the beginnings of his exploits as a trustworthy and reliable jounin.
Near the outskirts of the Wind Country a band of rebels had found a small niche for themselves as they masqueraded about the country sacking and pillaging from smaller, lesser protected villages. One such village, fought with unwavering taijutsu but were still no match for he heavily armed band of looters. Yama Kobe and a team of two jounin were sent to eradicate the problem. It was Kobe himself who came upon the small rebel camp. With his two teammates still making way to his location he sat in watch surveying the dozen or so men. The shinobi were to be outnumbered yet this rag tag group of men would pose no problem for the trio. Watching from a distance Kobe assessed and analyzed, it was near the second hour that the group pulled a young female from one of their tents. Their intent was apparent, and Kobe couldn’t waste anytime. Finding himself eye to eye with a dozen assailants he began his assault. The battle was rough and brutal, the young jounin dropping several limbs within the opening moments. Unfortunately the Kumo-nin could not defend himself from multiple attacks at once. Before he lost consciousness he grabbed at the jugular of one of his enemies. That’s when he realized it, his tactile sense, it was failing he couldn’t feel the throat of the man in his hand, just as his consciousness had begun to. His teammates found Kobe in chains and unconscious when they dispatched of the remaining four men. The girl was already dead, but they managed to drag their friend back to the Kumogakure Aesculapium.
[I hoped I’ve painted enough of a picture to justify being a Kyoujouran, albeit one that doesn’t know what he is yet, I hope to Rp learning more about being coming one and learning more about his past etc etc. Also at the moment Kobe is unconscious and Ill be Rping him coming out of this mission in the hospital]
