General Description:
Standing at an average height for her age at 4', Hikari has a pale complexion and grey-blue eyes. She is known best by those around her for her bright and energetic demeanor. Though not particularly muscular, she could often be found running swiftly through her village alongside other children.
She often wears a tattered black jacket, the size of which betrays its hand-me-down nature as the sleeves extend slightly past her finger-tips. Her knuckles are wrapped with a strap of sheep's leather; a somewhat feeble attempt to protect herself due to the frequency at which she would end up involved in small conflicts with other children. These arguments often arose from a strong sense of justice that had been nurtured throughout her life when faced with the inequity of peasant life compared to those with considerable wealth.
When not involved in such scuffles, she is often sporting a wide smile of well-maintained teeth. Various pouches strapped to her leg contained the bare essentials, with the notable exception of a slender needle attached to the outside of one of her pouches. Perhaps strange in contrast to her demeanor, she would often find herself anxious tapping her fingertips against one of her pouches or the side of her leg.
History:
It was common for Hikari's father, exhausted from his work as a builder, to return home to the sight of an unknown child receiving basic "medical" treatment from his daughter. The extent of such usually being the cleaning of a scraped knee, being that she had only recently turned eight years old. This was one of the many reasons why he was not surprised when he learned that Hikari had been selected to be educated and trained as a shinobi within the walls of Kumogakure.
This was a common tale as of late within Lightning Country, one that could lead her family to either greatness at the future opportunity of having a modicum of wealth or to the despair at the potential death of a daughter. These were the risks that every family weighed when they put their child forward, though not many did so without also being burdened by the realities of their social class.
While an act of desperation from her parents, for Hikari it was an exciting opportunity. While she often stood up for those around it, she wasn't particularly strong or capable in a fight. She would be able to return home a proud shinobi, capable of uplifting her village to the heights of Lightning Country. Nobody would go hungry again.
