Living in the heart of chaos didn't bother him the in slightest. It gave the older man that much more room to maneuver when staking out ne'er-do-wells in their own habitat.
It had, however, been quite some time since Akimyuu Daine had done anything like this. The trauma he had endured when his body aged prematurely was... well, he didn't leave the house for over a year. The ANBU subsisted by sending out transformed clones to gather food and supplies. The first time he saw the lights of the city flickering on the cavernous roof with his own eyes again, his head swam with vertigo and he nearly passed out at his door. It had taken years for him to actually move about in public again without looking like a disjointed puppet.
But this was an important matter. News had spread among the street urchins that a new "authority" had crept up in the Palais. Daine had not yet surmised the power vacuum that allowed them to rise to such a level. Was something going on in the upper echelons of Sunagakure that had not reached him? He could only hope that the few people he had known from his past were still being the stalwart defenders he knew them to be.
The ANBU sidled up to a corner of a residential block. His hood obscured his face from above... not that anyone could recognize him now. He felt a pang of heartache at the thought but wiped it away. He was on a mission. Nothing else could be allowed in to cloud his mind. He made his way towards a door, halfway down the block. It was unnumbered, like most of the decrepit doors along the lane but he had been told that this was the place. He slipped his freshly repainted ANBU mask on and opened the door. A billowing cloud of dust rolled slowly out across the threshold, probably to ward off anyone who was nosy enough to peek in.
He stepped through quietly. There was a faint pressure at his footstep and a smell of steel wafted across his nose, giving away a volley of shuriken that had been triggered by his entrance. He dodged it, casually stepping aside; the weapons swiftly sunk themselves into the opposite wall.

His wicked curiosity bubbled in him as he pushed further into the hovel. "So there is something here..."
