Ryu was a happy child, eager to please and be worthy of his clan name. He tried to be a real outgoing, straight-shooting type. Enthusiastic and excitable. Living in the world of action and finds it hard to sit still for long times. Ryu can be a real risk-taker when it comes to actions since he is quite blunt as well. Quick to perceive people’s attitudes and motivations. As he could pick up little clues that go completely unnoticed by others. Such as facial expressions and stances. Ryu uses this to sometimes get the favor onto his side. If Ryu has decided that something needs to be done, then his “do it and get on with it” attitude takes precedence over the rules. Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behavior, rather than mandates.
These days, he tends to keep a lot more to himself then in the past, always telling himself that things happened for a reason and that reason wasn't always good. This made him never really show the real side of him.

Ryu made Save Heaven as a personality split when the fighting on the fields got the better of him or rather the guilt of it all. He had to survive all the time and that was the reason that he eventually had snapped. Not a lot of people know of this and he doesn’t either. The personality only exists to let Ryu survive and not feel guilt afterward it. That is why it’s a subconscious thing.
The major thing that changed when the other personality got out, is that he will get a lot more serious and a lot less affectioned. He will get quicker to the point than he normally does and doesn’t jump to conclusions. All that split wants is to survive and will try to find the best method possible to do so, if they get attacked and have no other option left but killing, they will kill.

His past is a rather tragic one but massively misunderstood. Ryu was born in a small noble family on the outskirts of Moon country. They were quite old-fashioned and his family always was one of higher status.
Ryu never really resembled anything like his parents or older brother. They all had brown hair and green eyes, yet Ryu had blue hair and yellow eyes. The father was all about status and honor, so he was already not too happy. When Ryu was growing up, his parents rarely glanced at him and due to his weaker body, Ryu was allowed much Outside. His brother was at least always with him.
At the age of 7, they were called over for dinner in the main hall. Whale being collected Ryu was very considerate of his brother who even came for him. “Won’t you get into trouble for this..? Won’t you be late now too?” His older brother simply brushed it off yet as he reached out for his brother’s hand… It was soon smacked away, in an excuse that he was sweaty and thus didn’t want to share holding a hand. For Ryu, that was however another sign that he wasn’t very welcome. After a small scolding, they got announced that they were all invited or a ceremony.
The week after they are at the ceremony and what the parents had been speaking about had been true. There were all kinds of rumors around the place. When all the adults were watching his older brother and his jutsu scales… A few children of Ryu’s age got close by for a little chat. “Are you Ryu?”
“Yes?” At this point the little Ryu got a bit excited but scared, he was relieved as the same time as he had a shot now at making friends. “So they left you here huh?”
“Huh…?” He repeated the question and dropped his hands beside his body.
“Guess you are the black sheep of your family, after all, you are useless so I heard… What is your family thinking?” The child laughed but with Ryu, who knew his father always kept his status high, something was snapping. “Take that back!” And with that, he had reached out and hit the child in the face. The child was bigger and stronger already a year's advanced in age too… So Ryu easily lost it and eventually lay on the ground, barely holding onto consciousness.
When he woke back up, he was covered in bandages and had been rocking up a fever. The doctor was done examining him and he looked around the room, his mother was sobbing. His father looked like he could easily hit the child now and the older brother just looked with care and worry. “And this… is the reason why you will never leave your room anymore.” For his family's sake… he tried his best to excel in all other applications, such as writing, reading, and knowing as much history as he possibly could about his family. The maids in the household all saw what he was attempting and yet… It was never good enough for his family to notice all the effort Ryu was trying to put in for them.
Years went on… and indeed Ryu never left his room his brother always came to his room with a chess board and they played daily. Again he ate in his room… and just the day before his birthday his brother came in with a cookie. He had to celebrate the birthday a little earlier with him, as the cook was out tomorrow. They shared the cookie and had a good time… The evening later while he was in his bed almost asleep… The door creaked open, and he heard the voice of his mother. “I am so sorry…’ The mother sounded as she brushed his son's hair. They were bob length at this moment…
The following morning nothing else was odd, he was ignored like usual and his birthday seemed to quietly pass. When his brother came again, with a chessboard… They placed a few matches until his door had been busted open. “Who is you is Ryu?!” The man sounded harsh and the older brother had already jumped up while Ryu had been sitting shocked in his seat. “M-me?” He questioned and two other men came in and grabbed the child by the arms and started to drag. The older brother protested along and soon there was no fight of the brother, just a side eye… And for Ryu, they were all the same… they all had cast him aside.
He had been sold to a slave trader… A signed contract nontheless… So he honestly felt backstabbed, he knew that he was an outcast and this way, his family had gotten rid of him. The following half a year he had been working under someone who was trying hard to break Ryu’s spirit… This was going forth until he had been sold to be a patron in a war… A simple trivial thing between two houses but something that seemed to be common between the houses. For the child, a fight between two parts was still called a war… Real or not. He was fighting all the time there and at a point, Ryu had snapped and acted differently. After all, the kid was useless and didn’t have any talent whatsoever. Or so he thought.
On the battlefield of the houses, he learned a way to deal with everything, at first he always ran afraid around for his life. Always catching fevers left and right, but that was till he found an object that seemed to reach out to him… It had something ominous about it, yet he ignored it as it was something that he could use, something that could help him out. He grabbed the sword and held it tight, that was eventually when he found himself dozing off.
It was then that he triumphed over the battlefield and managed to survive for another day. At night he would try to figure out what was happening to him. He didn’t feel alone all the time, and he was able to speak in a language that others didn’t seem to understand. One older man spoke towards the child as he seemed to be the only one. Demonic speech… It was then that he started to get caught in a thing or two regarding it. The weapon that he had picked up had been cursed, or so said the man after looking at it.
The days after people started to get scared of Ryu, who started to get more plain looking on the battlefield, serious and always annoyed in a way. Some said that they had seen wings and claws.. That he wasn’t human and he had been sent to kill them all. It left matters to worse that Ryu, when not on the battlefield. Did not understand why everyone had been leaving him. Everyone seemed to be distancing himself and he had no clue as to why.
The person that originally sold him was still the owner of him in a way, that was till there finally was someone that wanted to buy him. He had been sold off further again to someone who was living in the big city. A city of clouds..? The words were foreign so Ryu had very much trouble understanding them.
He had been bought by someone who was trying to end this slave trader's existence altogether and by that, he had been buying slaves to get inside, to then start a rescue operation.. However, for Ryu that meant he went through a couple of hands before he got to this older couple, they were too old to get a child themselves anymore and thus had adopted Ryu. Even though Ryu was damaged goods… He did as average things as possible yet always behaved like walking on eggshells… Always on guard no matter what was happening around him.
