Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Ever since she was a child Setsuko had troubles making friends. What it was that made it so difficult she could not say, though she suspected it to be that she either intimidated others or the simple fact that she liked to be alone. Alone to think and ponder of the things that interested her which, weirdly enough was helping others. Setsuko had clearly put herself in an awkward position where she wanted to be alone but at the same time wanted to help the people around her. She had however in the past month in made two ‘friends’ in the academy as she had been paired up with them for some exercises but then again she did not know much about them other than their names and some of their strengths. For all she knew they could belong to a clan or even have one of those rare bloodlines. Ever since she had joined the academy the urge to learn and become more knowledgeable of the world had almost consumed her. She had spent hours upon hours in the academy library and in the village library trying to read as much as possible before they almost dragged her out at closing hours. In the beginning she had tried to count all those hours but had lost count at around three hundred. Setsuko also knew that she would have to choose soon. Choose between being alone and her want to help others. But she needed something, something to drive her forwards for the latter to happen and be her chosen road – but what?

***

With tired eyes she had walked out of the library, her fingers black with the ink that had come of the pages as she had traced the sentences as she had read them. With a yawn she stretched her arms high above her head and arched her back causing the muscles to stretch and the stiffness of sitting still for so many hours disappear. It was still too early for her to go back home and it had been ages since she had last taken a casual stroll around the subterranean village she called home. With a light sigh of she turned and looked at the academy building before her feet would move her towards the main thoroughfare. As the academy became smaller the further away she moved Setsuko let her thoughts wander, wander to those things she had not thought about for a while, such as her mother, her missing father whom she had never met or seen a picture of. Setsuko had never really thought much about not having a father, how it would be like to have one or how it would have been any different to the life she lived now. Her mother and she was happy, at least she thought they were she had not seen anything to contradict her thoughts on the matter. Putting those thoughts aside she began to study the buildings she walked by. Some of them were ornately decorated with fine sculptures and small fountains. ‘This must be the nicer part of village’ she mused as she continued. The further ‘into’ the village she came the smaller and cruder the houses became, indicating that despite this village subterranean status it still had its problems with classes dividing society. It would only be natural that a class system would appear where there were a large amount of people, as some would always make more money than others and thus build bigger and better houses. The rich stuck together just as the middle class stuck to their ‘area’ while the poor took what was left.

The further into the village she came the poorer the people became. She walked into a small square which had a small fountain carved out of the rock in its centre. On its edge sat an older looking shinobi. His hair was grey at his temples and his face had a thick grey beard, though his eyes still had the spark of youth in them. She found herself standing at the entrance to the square and staring at this old man, trying to understand what he was doing in this part of the village however the thought quickly faded as she applied it to herself. The old man was surrounded by children, all of them wearing ragged clothes and just by looking at them one could tell they had not had a bath in many weeks. What happened next surprised Setsuko. The old man shifted and with his hands touched a young girl on the arm, his arms glowing green as he did so. Only then did she notice that many of these children, despite being dirty and badly clothed were in fact injured! Some of them only had light bruises and cuts while others had fingers that were in positions they by the nature of law should not be in. A young boy had a long open gash on his forearm while a younger looking girl had a clearly broken foot which Setsuko based on the bone sticking out of her thigh. This man was helping the children she realized.

She knew that the hospital was in ruins and that many people had no place to go if they were injured now. The image of the girl sitting on the ground, her eyes filled with tears but also grim determination. ‘Of course, they can’t show emotions, it would only make them look weak and cause them to be preyed upon’ she thought as she headed back towards her own home. Several minutes passed as she thought back to the old man which had helped those poor children. He must have been off duty and had used his free time to help those that needed it. Setsuko could not help but smile and feel inner warmth spread within her body. Setsuko had always liked to help others and having witnessed the old man helping the children she became even more determined to become a med-nin so that she too could help those that needed but also so that she could help her two friends in the academy.

Rolling onto her side she saw that she had only been asleep for three hours. The thought of the children and her friends kept appearing in her dreams and everything they asked her for help and every time she was unable to help them. She felt a cold tear run down her cheek and quickly wiped it away as she let out a sigh. She wanted to help, help them all! “How can I help them? I am not as strong as Mouko nor as quick witted as Sazawari.” She said to herself and at the same time a voice from the door sounded out across the room which at first startled her but recognizing it as her mother’s she sat up in her bed and looked at the woman standing in the door way with a warm smile on her face. “I know you want to become a med-nin and I think that it is a very good and mature choice. From what I have heard of your two friends I imagine that both of them will eventually find themselves in need of healing.” She said with a chuckle before continuing “You want to help your friends as they are dear to you and you want to help those that can’t help themselves. Your choice is noble and I am proud of you Setsuko! You have decided to follow a path few do” she crossed the room and kissed Setsuko on the forehead before leaving the room and stopping at the door. “Do what your heart tells you” she said with a low and gentle voice before closing the door.

Sitting in the darkness staring at the picture of her mother and herself on the nightstand she gave herself an affirmative nod and swore to herself that when the time came that her two friends would need her she would be there to help them back up and beyond. “I will be there for you!” she swore to herself before she lay back down and closed her eyes, dozing back to sleep.
