Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

“Academy students with an advanced element. These kids are gonna go far,” Ryoku mumbled to himself as he summoned his shadow clones to strike the wires, but right before he successfully cut them, he heard the muffled, but loud, sound of an explosion. He looked over at Kosho’s blood prison and saw debris floating inside of it, likely from the explosion.

“Aww man, what happened? Drop the prison,” Ryoku instructed as he ran over to Kosho. He got on the ground and started sifting through the debris until he discovered that whatever was inside was now destroyed. He couldn’t even tell what it was. Ryoku had hoped that the jutsus would be able to protect the contents, but he had clearly underestimated the force of the explosion. Or maybe he overestimated the students’ ninjutsu. It was not clear, but it was disappointing either way.

Ryoku exhaled quietly to himself before looking up to the students with a large, goofy smile on his face. “No worries!” he said. “It was probably just a red herring anyway!” Ryoku didn’t fully believe that, but it was important that morale didn’t drop before the mission was over. “Let’s catch up to Masami and Kei before that creature does,” and almost as if on cue, a bellowing roar echoed through the forest, and by the sound of it, he was close. The sound of the explosion must have attracted him, even though it was muffled by the blood jutsu.

A slight smile inadvertently made its way across Ryoku’s face without him noticing. He wasn’t going to admit that he hoped he would run into the creature. “Go! Catch up with Masami and Kei! I’ll hold him off as long as I can!” he called to his teammates as he made sure that he was in a position between them and the source of the roar, also making sure that his expression was serious as he spoke.

Not paying attention to whether the students agreed with or objected his call, Ryoku did hand signs and slammed his palms against the ground, summoning a colossal slab of stone in between him and the students. This was partly to prevent them from objecting, and also to protect them in case the creature attempted to attack them instead of Ryoku. “Looks like it’s just you and me now,” Ryoku said with a smile, excitement rising in him. His love for battle was showing itself. He quickly did more hand seals and yelled, “Water Dragon Jutsu!” conjuring three dragons of water from seemingly nowhere. He launched the serpents at the creature, attempting to use the first one to bind him and the other two to attack at full force.

Kei nodded slightly her eyes drawn to familiar mineral floating in the air before she moved out towards the agreed destination.Their initial pace was slow as the position of the sword she carried prevented her from moving at full speed. A slight adjustment followed as she move the sword from her hip to her back. Once she was done, her pace picked up very quickly enough that she had to make sure she didn't pull too far ahead of Masami. Even as she continued to rush onward, she kept her friend in peripheral vision.

Curiously, they didn't encounter any of the earlier creatures that attacked them earlier along the way. A quizzical look emerged on her face as she had expected to fight more of them. After five minutes of running without hindrances they arrived at a clearing.

A hooded figure. A curved blade. A golden lever.

She wasn't sure what the lever would do or if attacking him was a good idea. With no way of gauging the hooded figure's strength, she clap her hands and began to perform handseals for elemental clones. Two more Kei appeared near her.

Mentally she directed one of the clones would get ready to light the flare, while the remaining clone would help Kei confront this hooded figure. It was then that the redhead heard the rustling of leaves, as she felt a presence descended down on her. Her eyes widened, her hand moved towards her blade but inwardly realized she was too late to react to the presence.

Five minutes elapsed since their departure from the group, leading them deeper into the thick greenery comprising the Forest of Death. Though a heavy silence blanketed the duo while traversing through the terrain, her mind coursed with umpteen thoughts and precautions. Eventually, she voiced a few of those out loud to her partner.

”Man, we’re never allowed around here, so this is all really new to me. I think I’d be screwed if I didn’t have this thing scouting about,” she said in passing, her lips curled into a wry grin. Regardless if she received a response from the redhead, she proceeded further into the depths of the forest with agility not normally attributed to those of her stature or modest ranking.

Eventually, several things occurred, all possibly critical to the objective at hand. Her crimson eyes took note of a hooded figure in the middle of a clearing, identity and purpose obscured. Adjacent to the enigma was a lever, its purpose impossible to ascertain. Masami wasn’t able to process the information before another potential hostile showed up. Doubtlessly it was meant to be discreet, but thanks to her preemptive use of Crystal Eye, she took notice of them.

Masami’s course of action unravelled quickly as she snapped her attention towards the descending figure. Inhaling with her key locked in her grasp, her free hand performed an even swifter series of one-handed seals, her eyes locked on the then airborne assailant. ”Dragon Fire Jutsu!” she exclaimed while she produced a concentrated flamethrower from her mouth towards the unidentified attacker. In her current dilemma, she chose to save her ally, with several advantages on her behalf. The first was the element of surprise; she doubted they expected her to know of their presence. The second was the presumed reduced ability to avoid while in the air, and the third was the precognitive function of her Sharingan.

Nagisa-sensei told me the lives of my teammates are my responsibility, I won’t let that lesson go to waste, she thought to herself, the precise conflagration burning brighter courtesy of her Uchiha heritage.

It was there, right in front of him. Right in front of everyone really. He immediately knew after fully forming the prison. “Did I move too fast? Was I not thinking clearly? I can’t adjust it now it could blow at any moment. I just ruined the entire plan.” Yuki and Yudo’s thoughts were never their own, but the majority of them were mere whispers unless they were specifically trying to communicate with one another. This particular thought was a whisper, all the same Yudo heard her brother’s disappointment in himself. Yuki believed he was rather procient at forming the water prison jutsu, without a doubt his blood manipulation could use a lot of work. But none of that was truly at fault for this mistake his application of jutsu and execution in the field was the true culprit. Clearly there was much to learn. He turned his head away from the prison using his spare arm as cover for his face in preparation for the explosion. Moments later the prison shook so violently Yuki felt the rising pressure from it in his tiny arm.

BOOM!

If it was any consolation the blood prison contained the blast so none of group was harmed. The sound of the explosion however was undeniably loud the group’s position would certainly be given away. Yuki couldn’t decide what was worse the fact that a figurative dinner bell had basically been rung for the monstrous creature from earlier. Or that the contents of the what the trap was hiding were surely gone. Ryoku ran over to investigate telling Yuki to drop the prison. Disappointment covered Yuki’s face as he watched the debris float around inside the blood prison. Releasing the jutsu blood fell to ground, that was now partially gravel, along with the contents of whatever was underneath the trap.Yudo never really got angry though she would often get irritated. This failure somewhat irritated her. The flavor of Yudo’s thoughts made this very clear to Yuki.

Ryoku tried to reassure Yuki that the treasure wasn’t important. Yuki thought it was clearly just an attempt to cheer the group given Yudo had the opposite reaction to the outcome of the situation. Yuki cared heavily about his sister’s opinion of him and normally this failure would weigh heavy on him. But in this moment it was important for him to remember his training. Envisioning a leaf in his mind similar to the ones he used in training days before cleared his mind to the point radio silence. He didn’t hear whispers from Yudo nor did he really produce thoughts of his own.

Just as Yuki came to he heard powerful roar that echoed through the forest. He imagined only one possible source of the sound and quickly reacted by forming several hand signs conjuring two blood swords into his hands. Not even a moment later Ryoku instructed Yuuko and Yuki to catch up to the other group and leave him behind to deal with the ebony beast. He slammed his hands to the ground and massive stone walls separated him from Yuki and Yuuko. Yuki turned to Yuuko and ran in the direction the other group of students headed minutes earlier.

Yuuko would frown as the tags on the metal plate began to explode. She wasn't all to sure what had set it off though. Maybe Kosho's barrier? For some reason Yuuko felt that wasn't the likely answer. No matter what it was the results of what had happened were dissapointing. This was only reinforced by Hitsugaya's inability to find any sort of item within the wreckage of the blast. Despite all of this Yuuko would begin to look on the brightside again. She did hate having a frown on her face quite a bit. So instead she would think about the good she had accomplished. She had managed to hit one of the creatures with her jutsu. Even more than that she was able to take it down. With that thought Yuuko would smile a bit.

Right after Hitsugaya finished giving out the new set of orders a loud roaring noise would echo throughout the area. Could it possibly be another creature they would need to fight? Given the magnitude of it that wasn't likely. The others caught onto this as well as they seemingly all realized the creature was upon them. Quickly Kosho, and Yuuko would be told to run as a wall of earth would be constructed between them, and the creature. Normally Yuuko wouldn't like the idea of leaving someone alone to fight something, but this time it was different. She had absolute faith in her teammates ability to stay alive. Even if that was during a battle with such a fearsome creature. Besides while Kosho was stronger than her, he would likely need Yuuko's help more than Ryoku would. With that thought Yuuko would turn running alongside Kosho towards where Masami, and Kei had gone. As she did so she would begin to quickly make a series of handseals. After she finished them some of the mud from the ground would quickly transform itself into a carbon copy of her. The mud clone would run alongside the real Yuuko, and Kosho keeping a bit of a faster pace. Yuuko would consider setting a trap of some sort for if the creature came their direction. Though with some thought she decided against it as it could potentially risk leaving a trail in order to inflict a likely menial amount of damage. "Lets hurry and catch up to them Kosho!" Yuuko would say loud enough for him to hear, but trying to keep relatively quiet. It would only be a matter of time before the two would be reunited with Masami, and Kei to continue on with the exam.

Looking down at the gennin preparing to attack him Chinatsu sighed slightly shaking his head and crossing his arms for a moment. "A bold move, rather interesting to find one so willing to charge a stronger enemy to save his allies." lifting an arm the whole lower section began to stretch out before swinging across the boy's attacks in a sweeping motion to block them a wide grin crossing the beings face as it did so. "But as much as attacking is an interesting way to go about things make sure you have an escape plan should things go wrong."

In a single swift motion the being caused large mirror shards to appear in the air around him flicking a finger down in a single swift motion as the hail of shards began to rain down across the area with little regard for who they hit or what happened in the aftermath of such an attack. "As Shinobi you must learn what to do in a situation like this adapt on the fly and figure out what to do or fall before you time it matters little to me at this moment in time. I am your enemy and you must think of what to do here."

With that the his arm began to change form once more bringing it round in a wide arc as lightning crackled from it the long blade that formed shredding through tree and stone alike. "Your time is running out, and trust me when i say i have no desire to show mercy during this endevour try your best to make it out impress me." His voice was taunting wondering how the student would react to being in such a situation hoping he would see where this was going and moving on rather than attempting to take the brunt of such an attack.

Ryoku

Ryoku would use his Water Dragon Bullet Jutsu conjuring three dragons and sending them towards the creature, commonly known as Chinatsu. Unfortunately the move would prove to be a fatal mistake. The aura Chinatsu let out was pressuring enough to make Jounin level Shinobi tremble. As the dragons came closer and closer Chinatsu simply used his palm to hit all three of the water dragons. All three vanished in an instant simply leaving small water droplets in the air.

Chinatsu retaliated. Bringing his arm back to it's original position different mirror shards started floating around him.
giphy.gif

Once his words finished all mirror shards came down upon the unsuspecting Genin, although he tried dodging and guarding some left scratches and cuts around his arms and legs. No matter how fast the person was, dodging that many weapons wasn't possible for someone on his level. But that's when he saw it, a blade made out of crackling blue lightning. With a quick leap Chinatsu charged forward, not leaving Ryoku any chance to defend, a great scream could be heard all around followed by the unmistakable sound of lightning.

[Ryoku has failed the exam and thus won't be allowed to post. Personal note, do hope the rest don't have any more bright ideas.]

Kei

Kei was right on the point thinking about the sneak attack, once she looked up she would see a blade dropping towards her, would this be the end of her? She could feel the blade piercing the back of neck effectively killing her in seconds. She felt how hot the day was.... wait.... hot? Once she snapped away from her thoughts she could see her teammate had actually used a jutsu to keep the sneaky assassin away from her, in retrospect saving her life. With that, one of her clones succesfully shot the flare up into the brights sky and with a loud BOOM gained even more brightness. Making it visible for miles.

Kei decided enough was enough and with her other clone sprinted towards the armed figure. Clash after clash they went. Seemingly matched in skill but Kei wouldn't loose focus on the fight at hand, her adrenaline started spicking her up giving her almost unlimited stamina to continue her flury of attacks. Her clone wasn't any different, no matter what the figure tried he could only defend at the endless onslaught of attacks this two students were giving him.

Masami

Masami's attempt at keeping the aisalant at bay was succesfull, the hoodded figure used a nearby tee branch to push himself out of the way but in doing so left himself wide open for attacks and Masami took the chance. Sprinting forward toward the target she started using her own fists against the figure, hitting each one in the mark sending the figure flying across the forest.
IncredibleSnarlingHornedtoad-max-1mb.gif

It seemed as though it wasn't enough. The figure got up as if nothing had happened, Masami continued her flurry of attacks but nothig seemed to hit, the figure twisted and bended in very inhuman ways to avoid her attacks but never retaliated. Something definetely seemed off, something didn't feel right. The question was what?

Kosho/Yuuko

Kosho and Yuuko would take a bit of time to get where they desired. It took them a bit longer since they actually went the wrong way, but a flare shot up to the sky corrected them as soon as they arrived they would see Masami and Kei, each engaging the hodded figures. But it would seem as though the hooded figures started multiplying. Two more appeared from below the ground out of nowhere, ready to engage the students. What would they do in the situation? Engage them? Help their teammates?

Scorching hot flame nearly seared the back of her neck. Normally that would be a cause of alarm but as she turned to see her savior, her heart skips a beat. Time seems to slow down a bit as she watch Masami fiercely engaged her assailant. Though she would like to see her friend more, something else demanded her attention. Kicking off the ground, she engaged the hooded figure with her clone.

Sparks flew off as their blades clashed together. The dance of deadly steel commenced as she keep piling the pressure on her opponent. Faster, she willed herself to go faster. For every stroke of the blade her opponent make she needed to go twice the speed. Though her muscle ached she dare not relent.

Yet her opponent was tough enough to weather the storm of steel she rained upon him. The flare exploded high above them and though she knew her comrades it would also mean she would attract the monster as well. She needed to finish this quickly.

The clone retreated slightly and sheathed her blade, even as Kei kept him busy. Just like with Soku-sensei, she needed to prioritized speed and accuracy over power. The girl leapt sideways as the clone rushed forward. The blade sung as it cuts through the air twice in a cross direction towards the hooded figure. The intention however was not to harm, but rather to break his sword guard and give the real Kei an opening.
Pouring the chakra into her leg, blades of grass flew as she blitz towards the hooded figure from his flank, swinging the sword straight towards his waist with the intention to slice him in half. Whether she hit or not, she would keep going before turning around to face back the hooded figure.

Meanwhile, the remaining clone that had fired the flare watched as Kei engaged one of the hooded figure. As she was doing well enough without assistance, Kei had directed it to assist Masami. The hooded figure had somehow avoided Masami’s flamethrower so instead she shadowed Uchiha closely. As she watched the two go at it, she waited for a single moment where they disengage from each other. As soon as the moment come the girl would leap in with a flying kick straight towards the face of the hooded figure engaging Masami.

Note:
Clone 1 used Cross Slash on hooded figure.
Kei used Vanishing Slash on hooded figure.
Clone 2 used Dynamic Entry on Masami’s opponent.

Fortune favoured her for that moment, because while the flamethrower failed to connect with its mark, she managed to ward the aggressor away from her teammate. Courtesy of the action, she was additionally able to mount an offense against their adversary due to an opening their manner of evasion created. After dashing forward, her rain of blows found purchase on the enemy, her frivolous and carefree demeanour discarded in favour of cold pragmatism as she aimed to efficiently incapacitate her target for the success of her group. However, it seemed those efforts bore little fruit.

Through the glare of her Sharingan she noticed unorthodox patterns in their antagonists’ actions. Not only were her attacks not having any effect on the figure, but the target was twisting and bending in ways that weren’t possible for a human. While this may have been a physical effect stemming from an insidious practice, as someone who focused on the illusory arts, Masami had a feeling they may have been under the effects of an illusion. Equipped with a technique that could create false clones as well, it reminded her of that, and that was the reason she decided to put her main expertise to use.

One of Kei’s clones came to her aid with a dynamic attack, and she used that opening to her advantage. It gave her a moment of respite to tap into the power of her eyes, and attempt to reverse what she suspected was a genjutsu on its caster. No matter if she was successful or not, she had a contingency plan; she took the advice Soku provided her during her own test.

The way she saw it was unless it was a red herring, they needed that lever for a purpose. Why else would it be there? Then again, it could have been the lever that disarmed the trap from earlier. Still, it was worth investigating, and valuable enough that someone was guarding it. No traps seemed to be proximal to it, otherwise its previous guard risked setting it off.

Masami’s hands performed a familiar string of hand seals. She copied the ones Kei used earlier, and copied the Elemental Clone technique. Summoning three clones of her own, she assigned one to the Kei clone who helped her, one to help Kei herself, and another on lookout for any anomalies. Should it notice Kosho and Yuuko, it would help them combat their opposition—that is, if her genjutsu reversal failed. Regardless, after setting up her precautions, the Uchiha would dart quickly towards the lever to attempt grabbing and pulling it.

Yuki idiotically lead himself and Yuuko in the wrong direction during their pursuit of the other group who went on to investigate past the traps. Reminding him that traveling the wrong direction and delaying their rendezvous was only adding to his current screw ups today. He only realized this after seeing a flare go off in a direction from where he was currently running, which had to be Kei or Masami’s doing. Packaging this blunder up and sending it to the back his mind for later review Yuki took a deep breathe.

“That must be them… It seems like I was leading us the wrong way. I’m sorry… I’m going to pick up the speed and when we arrive I’ll engage first to try and make an opening for everyone.” Yuki said stopping for a moment to look at the flare then Yuuko.

Yuki tried to keep a clear mind as he began to run in the direction of the flare, but just as he reached full stride a loud and painful scream echoed through the forest. The sound came from what Yuki believed was Ryoku’s direction. One couldn’t be too sure due to his recently terrible navigation. Regardless Yuki continued running toward the flare. “If I was able to suppress the explosion this might not have happened. Sorry Ryoku...”

“If that was Ryoku-sama we wouldn’t be much help. I think the same would just happen to us. Maybe we can assist Uchiha-san and Nanjirou-san.” Yuki said maintaining speed.

Upon arriving at the spot where the flare was signaled Yuki noticed several ally clones along with two hooded figures and at a glance couldn’t really make out the situation. But before he could decide what to do next two more of the mysterious hooded figures appeared from the ground directly in front of Yuki. “What kind of jutsu is this!?” thought Yuki mildly disturbed by the mysterious duo’s entrance.

“What’s the plan!? Ryoku-sama was taken out by that hulking creature from earlier and we’re next if we don’t move fast!” Yuki yelled in a forced and very uncharacteristic manner.

In an attempt to calm down Yuki focused on the sound of blood around him. “Focus! Focus! We are not messing this up!” Yuki extended his arms forward melding his two blood swords into a thick layer of blood over his hands that also reached partially up his forearms. He then began to forming hand signs as he ran to the side of the other two new arrivals to the battle. The boy moved with urgency as he knew his arrival was fairly delayed. Stopping a distance away from the pair he had formed an orb of blood centered between his two blood covered hands. Yuki grabbed the orb swiftly with his right hand as he again began running this time straight toward mysterious duo. Closing in on the hooded figures Yuki threw the orb away from them in the direction of Kei and Masami’s attackers. The orb would explode outward mainly in two directions when in range of the distant attackers targeting both Kei and Masami’s opponents respectively. Yuki hoped to create even a fraction of an opening for the team with this slight misdirection tactic.

After throwing the orb away from the two hooded figures, who were now directly in front of Yuki, the blood that was seconds ago around his hands formed into two blades. Sliding as low to the ground as he could manage Yuki repeated slashed one of the hooded figures attempting to launch it in the air creating another opening. Without hesitation Yuki recovered, sliding toward the other figure attempting to do perform the same strategy.

Yuuko would run a bit behind Kosho through the forest. Things seemed to be going fine as their enemy had yet to catch up. Though when a signal flare went off in a direction that wasn't where they were heading it was clear a mistake had been made. Yuuko may not have been the one who was in front of the group, but blame for going the wrong direction fell on her as well. Shouldn't she have realized they weren't heading in the right direction? Wasn't it her mud clone that was slightly ahead of both Kosho, and Yuuko? Perhaps said clone somehow lead them off the right course, and neither person realized. In any event Kosho apologized before Yuuko could say anything. She then decided it would be a conversation better saved for a later time. Surely such a conversation had no place as they rushed to their teammates. Yuuko would hear a loud scream come from the general direction of where they had come from. Maybe the monster really did beat Hitsugaya. She decided it would be best to be optimistic, and hope the scream came from another source. A wandering person with no connection to the exam perhaps? Maybe the scream could have even come from the beast itself. Yuuko would push these thoughts out of her mind as they neared their destination.

When they arrived on the scene the duo would find the others fighting with a masked group. Just as Yuuko was beginning to form handseals for an attack two more would appear. These two would require more immediate attention based on their closer proximity. Yuuko wasn't quite sure what, but there was definitely something wrong with the figures. Not only did they appear from the Earth itself, but the other two seemed to move in strange ways not befitting a human. Maybe though with some luck, and teamwork the students would be able to land a hit on them. Yuuko would begin to make handseals as a series of other things would happen. First her mud clone would move towards one of the masked figures. Its target appeared to be the one which had a lever on its person. When it got close enough it would attempt to disperse its body upon the person to cover them with sticky, and heavy mud. Second Kosho would begin making his moves to attempt, and create an opening. Yuuko would take advantage of this creating distance, and readying a ninjutsu attack. After making her handseals sheets of paper would begin to unfold from her hands in front of her. They would shift around revealing a large origami cloud. Said cloud would proceed to rain a storm of incredibly sharp paper spirals towards both of the figures closest to her, and Kosho.

After that Yuuko would finally come up with an idea with which to respond to Kosho. "Somethings wrong with these people, but that lever must be important lets get it!" She would shout to him as she prepared to make her next move. It seemed Masami had also thought of the same idea considering the lever. She would make an attempt to grab it from the figure who held it. Though as Yuuko saw earlier in the exam things don't always go as planned. It would be a good idea to have a second plan in case the clone somehow inhumanly dodged Masami's grab. Yuuko would form more handseals before facing her palm towards the lever. Her chakra would change creating a gravitational pull extending out towards the object. With any luck the lever would be pulled straight out of the hands of whoever held it, and into Yuuko's hand further away from any of the figures. With that done Yuuko was prepared for anything. Even if one of the figures moved to attack her she had ninjutsu which she could use to defend herself alongside Kosho, and a clone created by Masami.

[Used Origami Shower on the two figures who came out of the ground. This was done after Kosho's attempted attacks on them.]

[Used Gravitational Pull on the lever that one of the figures is holding.]
