Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Character's Physical Description: Matsu stands about 5'9" and is remarkably unremarkable aside from the fact that he is covered in warding seals from various abominations amongst other intricate tattoos. Ghosts, demons, beasts, and so forth. The seals themselves may have little true effect, but they have been laboriously pushed into his flesh with some sort of blood technique. All such seals are written in Runic Terran. Were he to have hair, it would be hard to say what color it would actually be. Stark white or black, orange or yellow, but given his particulars he's kept to keeping his hair removed. He is walking scar tissue.

Character's Mental Description: Matsu, while not utterly insane, has some particular drives. He believes he is simply a hunter. He thinks himself to be bound in some sort of struggle with his very blood. Whatever this may mean for others is quite uncertain, though he has been seen to coat himself in blood when able be it his own or others. Perhaps it is from his very blood driving him somewhat mad or perhaps his fanatic drive towards some unknown deity. Whatever the truth of the matter, he was somewhat locked away from plain view as to not cause...issues. He continues to act in an advisory and education position for new recruits when conventional training is simply not enough.

Multiple Personality Application: None.

Character History: Matsu was but a simple boy. He grew up with whatever family he had, went to school, and eventually became a teenage then an adult. Sometime in there, he began etching markings into his flesh to drive out whatever ill temperament befell him. Likely due to medical care or intense indoctrination into the ranks of Anbu, he was eventually locked away for various executions or what he called “hunts” on those of particularly nasty repute or sometimes otherwise. It was more of a monitored locking away where he was temporarily removed from what those would consider active duty to a more relaxed, educational position. While he remained among the ranks of Anbu ready to serve, he was delegated elsewhere. During this time, Matsuo got a stronger grasp over his personal abilities as he gained strength. Seclusion was't a punishment, but a blessing for the young man. Likely, there were bouts of insanity within his own family, but he seemed to ride the razors edge of clarity among whatever debilities may have been augured upon his kin. His solitude and opportunity to educate brought more out of the man as he aged than otherwise. He would breed other hunters. He would ensure that his home was to be protected from the rest of the world. In those moments, he found out who he really was...then lost such realization in a mere second. Such insight was fleeting.

From the ripe age of around 8, Matsu's family knew there was something off about their child. Of course, he came from a family of eccentrics and this was to be expected, but Matsu was most definitely a bit on the crazier side as a youth. In such times, he had begun digging beneath his skin with cave fishing line, depositing blood weighted with some kind of minerals beneath his flesh. Line upon line of script was illuminated beneath his skin as wards of mending, protection, and violence were sealed upon his sacred medium. Mindfully, such actions began around 8 as mentioned and Matsu's parents did the only logical thing. They sent him to the Shinobi academy in hopes that he'd be pushed into the Anbu sector so that such tendencies could at least be harnessed or removed from his personality. Such hopes were dashed upon whatever metaphorical rocks as said dream was kicked screaming over the cliffs.

Matsu went to school with little issue in his earlier years, but his more violent tendencies began to slip further and further into public view. He was the unfortunate survivor of a confrontation with another student after school when he was about 11. He had beaten the other boy to near death with a stick before being discovered and whisked off for disciplinary action. The other boy recovered fine, but became an assured enemy for Matsu. Upon being confronted, Matsu swore up and down that he had been praising the sun for guidance and that the other boy insulted his religious practice so that he had to be punished. The major problem besides the fact that he'd almost killed another boy was that he had slathered his blood all over himself while ripping out his own hair. He'd been found, like many times before, depositing more scripture into his skin, chanting prayers to some sort of sun god. Worried by such fanaticism, Matsu's parents forced him into the Anbu branch through political maneuvering and sheer use of family name. They were to make sure that he was not a blight upon them if they could help it.

The change, of course, was helpful at Matsu's young age. Entering Anbu at about 12 years of age, Matsu had been passed a family weapon that he was told could anchor his spirit to his ancestors. Shying away from such superstition did unfortunately result in many a times Matsu's own blade seeming to bite and draw blood from his hands. Observing such phenomenon, he realized it was nothing better than a blessing for his practice! He made sure that his blade drunk deep of his essence and used such exsanguination for more seals. BY the age of 13, he had been covered nearly from head to two with winding scripture that seemed to have no beginnings and very few ends as it had yet to cover all of his flesh. It was good fortune, he felt, that he learned of his family line of warriors with blades in accordance with his religious practice. Faint whispers flocked to his mind as he gained insight about the world around him and he began to compose himself through rigorous training of blade and spirituality.

Habits, however, were hard to break. Training often consisted of other children and recruits being beaten to near death once more like the other child or Matsu being battered and broken to an extent. In almost every practice, Matsu would ingest some bits of blood or streak it across his arms, face, or any other part of his body. Regardless of the damage done, he was always vibrantly excited. The other trainees might be less so, but such was the way of the world and the weight of a name. Matsu was exceptional at the art of the hunt when it came to mock trials and training. Without fail, he'd always return with the quarry. He'd found, in some regards, his calling. The hunt was in his very blood and he'd pursue it to his undoing.

Of course, the hunt was not without its perils. Matsu had continued to press into his flesh the bindings of more and more wards and perhaps curses depending on the view. All the while he fervently began spouting religious dogma about the sun god and his views on pain and suffering. It only made sense that he associated Jashin with the Sun as it forced them underground, was the means for both life and death in their world, and was seen as one of the strongest entities. It sparked some confusion among those who believed in Ameterasu and were quick to tell Matsu that his views on the world were in fact wrong and that his interpretation of the sun god was horribly incorrect. This was the start of a small massacre which Matsu explained vehemently that they were heretics and of the ilk of the Cabal. They were attempting to subvert their culture through religious terrorism and they needed purged for they were tainted by bad blood. These words, sadly, were uttered as he had stood above their corpses, blood splattered all over the home of potentially innocent bystanders. Of course, such violence was not easily dismissed and Matsu was forced into observational incarceration. This was the moment when Matsu had fallen from some grace and been failed out of the Anbu programs and forced to be under observation.

Such a period was good for Matsu, in some ways, as had been his childhood. It was an opportunity for Matsu to discover himself and impart his wisdom upon the younger generations. He began to record all of his happenings in a very oddly bound leather book. Within he recorded all of his various revelations about blood usage, where power resided within it, and so forth. It was obvious to Matsu at this point he was a danger to the state in his current situation, so he submitted to their wishes without any real objections. Using his book and his knowledge, he began to teach new students techniques and at times he taught various philosophical classes questioning morality, ethics, and religion. While he was adamant in his position with his god of the sun, he made sure to impart upon his students the deepest of understandings he could.

After some time, Matsu was released from his captivity, as it were, and left to return to his old ways. Having settled down, he began to perform such ritualistic work in his spare time away from prying eyes. Homelessness began to shrink and people in the streets began to have utterance of his faith. This had nothing to do with Matsu of course. It was simply the benevolence of his deity that people began to speak of his faith in hushed whispers. After all, such dedication required death and in such tight spaces death was to be expected.

With that, Matsu practiced his faith every day. Understanding his very nature as a Nanjirou, he would draw his blade and cause himself to bleed to the point of expiration, only to be left with an ounce of his vitality before sheathing his blade once more. Every time he spilled blood, he'd add it to his very personal collection of seals upon his body, having by the age of 24 completely covered his body from toe to head. Were he able, he'd tattoo upon his very eyes warding messages of his deity. He was one of very few chosen from a young age to ascend to that of priesthood in his faith, though he was likely the only one to believe things in a way that he did.

Curiously, he'd remained in the shadows for as along as possible after his childhood. He felt no need to publicly spread his beliefs. He'd already suffered backlash twice in his life for religious persecution. He felt it his purpose, at this juncture, to enter back into the fold of Sunagakure and greet his brothers, sisters, cousins, and otherwise as if he had been rehabilitated. After all, he was a bit of a black sheep among his own. It was with overly happy intentions that Matsu brought himself back from his personal seclusion in hopes to secretly spread his influence beyond just a few villagers and fellow anbu recruits. He would return to the surface world and bring his village with him, for it was the decree of his god that they all died in the sunlight be it violent or natural means. While he was not of the highest anarch mentalities, he felt that life itself was the most brutal of tests and the simple fact that life could be snatched at any moment was enough. Sand was far more brutal than he could ever be. Be it a carnasaur or a sand worm, they could cause such wanton extermination of life beyond anything Matsu could ever hope.

With bloodied soul, Matsu was made of the blood of Jashin, or Ameterasu, or some other benevolent being. A smile would be upon his face at all times as living was simply a long suffering until death. Sometimes someone just needed reminding of their suffering through quick execution. Of course, Matsu was bound to the hunt. There was no such thing as quick.

Just tell me what you want and need after this. It has a bit of bloodline, kinjutsu, and otherwise in it. I've never been quite the best at such things.

I do not own the right to the Takahashi surname, Sousuke does so I cannot do anything with your name without Sousuke. So agreeable from my end PENDING Sousuke. Regarding an IC relation to my character, my PC is not a Takahashi by blood so there is no need for me to verify a genetic relation with myself.
IC Rank: Jounin level ANBU, accepted on my end but some council members have suggested an ANBU to also accept so I will poke someone to also accept.
Bloodline: Found an adequate write up for this in the kinjutsu app.
Physical Description: walking scab, check and accepted.
Mental: Maybe a little nuts wearing blood and all but check and accepted. No need for a multiple personality app.
History: Accepted, note to next council person a bulk of his history is in the kin app.
Kinjutu: Accepted, Lord Jashin is pleased with your righteous zeal.

For my part (as the person currently in charge of ANBU) I'd prefer to see more information in his history about how he came to be among the ranks of the ANBU. As it stands right now his history barely makes mention of having joined them -- only that he did, not why or how. I've said it before but it seems odd to me that the ANBU (who are Sand's military police, more or less) would recruit someone who is for all intents and purposes totally average and unremarkable.

Well, it was mentioned that he was exceptional at hunting people down, above board physically compared to other trainees, and a meticulous teacher himself when it came to such things. However, were he to fail out of Anbu as that's unsatisfactory to you, then that's reasonable to me as well.

*scratches head about the clan reference*

I get that you're going for a black sheep type of character in the Takahashi clan, but I would like to see some reference to a sort of craft that Maku is good at. Usually Takahashi are experts at blacksmithing, could you maybe explore some aspect of that for the clan? They're more producers than warriors with religious zeal.

Failing you out of ANBU isn't my aim -- I'd just like you to put a bit more emphasis on how and why he was recruited as after re-reading it a couple of times I still don't get a solid sense of why they would have wanted him.

That being said though, aside from ANBU status, everything else is +1 on my end as a council member.

Good information to have. I don't care if he failed out or not. It's about what makes sense story wise. If he'd gotten in basically by name and had good tracking ability, but was nothing better then him failing out makes sense to me. He didn't make the cut. I'll make changes to reflect that. As to the clan, as now I have information opposed to nothing before. He may not necessarily be a blacksmith, but he'd be an artist with metals given the nature of tattoos? He definitely is one to ward himself through such techniques (barring that they may not actually be wards and simply his imagination). Are such alterations in line with what would be wanted? If not, it's of no consequence.

You mean like he created metallic stamps to imprint his tattoos, or are they actually like ... molten metal that has long since cooled down?

I'm kosher with the former more so than the latter, presuming I've understood this properly.

Just keeping things clear. So Clan has been accepted. I will state in this thread that IC I would at least know him considering the fact that I am adopted and been a part of the family for most of this character's natural life.

Regarding IC Rank, just gimme a final call so I can give you the right banner and access'

I will (or someone else will) change your name when you are ready.

Just make it Jounin and whatnot. Takahashi Matsu would be great and I will get to posting where I should be posting. Also, how do I go about my jutsu swap in this scenario?

Double Edit: For Jutsu swap. Also Kinjutsu will be edited to reflect history of failing.
