Saru is a smaller boy who only stands roughly around 140cm and weighing in at 35kg. Which, made him the smallest boy in his academy class. Saru has dark brown hair which is styled in a spiky fashion that adequately frames his face. While his hair does tend to look a bit unkempt it always appeared orderly at the top. He is generally seen with a frown upon his face, but has been known to smile time to time. As expected, his eyebrows are the same color as his hair on his head and draw clean streaks above his eyes. Saru's eyes are always full of emotion and the first thing that one tends to noticed about the young man. His eyes are an intense, bright, green color that match nicely with his dark brown hair. His clothes are fairly unique for a child of his age, but he is not none for his conformity, so it always worked for him. Saru's first layer is a mesh undershirt with a dark brown/red yukata on the outside. This yakuta had a lighter shade on the flap running down the outfit. The yukuta is tied together with a thick bright yellow band that is wrapped around his torso several times.
Mental Description:
Saru has always appeared to have a disinterested attitude, but that is mainly because of him being bullied in the academy. He gives off a feeling of general standoffish and doesn't give the impression that he cares much of anything. That being said he was always able to accomplish what he needs to. When he went through the academy he passed his first time through which shows that he has some ability that he isn't showing. He truly wishes that he could find someone that he can become close to, but worries that he won't be good enough in the end. Saru also enjoyed playing pranks on people who are in authority. Some could say that he is doing this to act out, but its difficult to say for sure. Whether it be a tack on your seat, kick me sign on your back, or having your shoelaces tied together it is more than likely that this young genin is responsible.
History:
Saru was born into a family that was relatively well off in Konoha. His mother was a rather respected Jonin and his father was a Chuunin who gave up his career as a shinobi soon after meeting his mother. They lived towards the outskirts of the village a few miles outside of the village gates. This gave the young boy a wide exposure to different animals that inhabited the region. Saru's mother, Senju Aiko, was frequently outside of the home since she would be out of the village completing missions for the village and providing for the family. This meant that his father, Kawazoe Kaito, was responsible for the majority of the child raising.
The young boy spent most of his childhood wandering around the forests and loved to see all of the different types of animals. The monkeys were always his favorites as they seemed to be the ones that always "played" back. Saru frequently got attacked by the monkeys outside of the village, but it was always clear they didn't really want to seriously harm the child. This became clear as he always came back home with minimum scratches, bruises, scrapes, and bites given the circumstances. You'd think that this would be enough to stop the young child, but part of him truly wanted to be like them. They were far faster, stronger, and unfortunately often times smarter than he was and that was something that he respected even at a young age. Most of all their families always stayed together. The baby monkeys would hang underneath their mothers the majority of the time. Half the time Saru would come home injured was because he wanted to play with the young monkeys. Something that their parents never tolerated...
Kaito, Saru's father, would frequently become reasonably enraged when his son would come home scratched up, but no punishment was enough for him to stop going out to see them. Kaito then brought up a proposal; If Saru liked to get himself in so much trouble then he would learn how to be a shinobi. Each morning Saru would train with his father regarding the arts of a shinobi. He trained with his father from the age of 5-10 and had dramatic success. This was until he was told by his mother that the academy in Konoha would be a better place to learn. With her words the conversation seemed to be over and he was enrolled for the closest school year.
When Saru entered the academy he stayed with his aunt who lived closer to the village, so he could make it to school easier. The young Senju loved his aunt, but truly missed playing in the woods of his home. Saru would attend classes and learned what it took to be a successful genin. During his time here he frequently found himself being bullied and that was something that made him feel worthless. It wasn't like home at all...This caused him to become somewhat of a social outcast. In order to gain any attention of his peers he would play the part of the clown. Frequently putting tacks on students chairs, tying other students shoes together, and spitting unreasonably large spitballs at his chuunin teachers. This got him into a lot of trouble, but thankfully for the teachers he eventually graduated from the academy.
As he graduated from the academy his mother wrote him saying that she found him a tutor, so that he could rise above his mediocrity. While these words hurt the young Senju he looked forward to meet his new teacher as impressing his parents was important to him on a very subconscious level.
Realizing His Bloodline
Saru recognized his Wood Release abilities when he was a young boy before he even started the academy. This being said he would not be clear of what actually happened until years after. The young Senju was wandering the forest when he saw a monkey up in a tree. Saru was small, but nimble, so he climbed the tree quickly in order to try and catch the monkey. Every time he even came close the monkey it would simply dart out of his way. This happened for hours until Saru accidentally lost his footing.
The young boy was high in the trees at this point and looked down as he started crashing into the lighter limbs causing him to instantly bruise. Just before he escaped the last couple branches he braced for impact and shuddered. Closing his eyes tightly he felt branches close in around him, but instead of the blunt force he expected it was soft. The young boy passed out soon after using this ability and woke up the next morning to a father with mixed expressions.
Saru thought that his father saved him from the dangerous fall, but Kaito had nothing to do with it. His father saw what he had accomplished at such a young age and knew it was time to begin Saru's training to become a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village.
