Name: Shigetoshi Shingo
Age: 8
Physical Description: Shingo is a small lad, 44.2 inches tall with a frail weight of 46.5 pounds. Not unhealthy looking but one to brush on the feeling of concern, Shingo exudes an aura of homelessness and disheveled existence. With an olive complexion hidden partially by an honest layer of dirt and sand, the boy gives off a rugged sense of being a survivor.
His hair is shaggy and unkempt, unlikely to have ever seen a brush at any point in his days of life. This hair falls to around his knees and is rosewood red, having a very gradual wave to it at the end of its length. Both of Shingo's eyes are as grey as grey gets, listless and devoid of the quintessential spark befitting your average child (or person in general), while being generally almond shaped and slanted upwards. His features are elven, if abruptly dour like his general appearance- the nose being pointed and slightly uplifted with a wide mouth and large ears. One might even perchance to state his cuteness were it not for his ragged clothes and perpetual state of disarray.
Most often, the boy is clad in a filthy white robe with a tan shozoku worn underneath. His feet are usually devoid of shoes or tabi, having a preference for the purchase and textures found barefoot (and, constant poverty). A scarf is wrapped around his shoulders, neck and lower face, helping to ward off debris and cast a state of mild mystery to the boy. The scarf is grey and orange with a wave motif to it, measuring at roughly six feet long when unwrapped.
Mental Description: Shingo is unnaturally alert to his surroundings, always in a state just before fleeing. Constant vigilance and examining others for body language, posturing and changed tones of voice- the boy is keen to empathize without integrating, always seeming to exist 'just-so' on the outskirts of being noticed or acknowledged. This key trait lends itself to reason why he is quiet, flexible, adaptable and astute.
On the flip-side, he is anxious and paranoid...being prone to sudden flights of panic and ultra-sensitive. One could even generalize him into being the hyper simplified persona of the flight reflex.
Unlike his upbringing would lead one to believe, the boy is unnaturally honest and to the point when prompted. His word is unbreakable and his character (while utterly neutral to morality) is incorrigible.
History: Rather uneventful for an aspiring shinobi, Shingo is the child of misfortune. Born to impoverished parents and into homelessness, Shingo's entire life has been a fight for survival at it's most basic level. Living in a desert has only made this battle more pronounced and weeded out the weak to almost entirety.
Not abused by his parents, Shingo was a creature of simple disinterest. With their own mouths to feed, the boy was both a mild inconvenience and potential out for his father and mother. Living and learning to navigate the underground areas of the Hidden Village while simultaneously hunting out food wherever and however it might be obtained, Shingo's physique (while frail) became firm and wiry. Fat was awarded only to those with more.
While lessons focused on the prior mentioned, his father and mother did instill one trait that has continued their existence and given them enough reputation to lean on favors and promises; complete honesty. Shingo's morality might be neutral (not being educated or stupid enough to believe in black and white), but his word is law. If one can wrestle a promise from the boy, it will be kept to the death. If the boy tells you something, it is true to his complete knowledge without any form of fabrication.
Lacking tuition funds for basic education, at the age of six, Shingo applied for a scholarship to the Ninja Academy whereas he could be taught both generalized curriculum and potentially put his street skills to the test as a shinobi-candidate. To the surprise of his parents and himself, his Taijutsu skills in regards to movement were enough to push him into the favor of the school and grant him access despite his lack of knowledge or ability in anything else. When it was found that his movement abilities were in fact natural (parkour, so to speak) and not chakra-enhance movement of any kind- he was granted immediate tuition instead of waiting until the customary age of eight.
As of now, Shingo has been enrolled for two years and is currently studying diligently to keep a roof over his family's head and to improve his life's fortune.
