Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Character's Physical Description: There is always one consistency when it comes to Takara. She loves to flaunt her wealth. No matter what she is doing or where she is at, she will always be dressed to the nines and screaming "expensive". Takara was born with vibrant flowing red locks and piercing blue eyes that occasionally flash to green. Many associate her appearance with the iconic smirk that she's always wearing. She stands at 5'10", often taller when wearing heels, and is frequently seen wearing a navy blue and black pinstripe suit, black fedora, black tights, and thigh high boots. On either side of her hip visible revolvers can be seen. However, given her history, it is not uncommon to see her dressed in pirate gear or formal dresses when attending social events. She doesn't mind that she always seems to stand out in a crowd, as she could just as easily disappear in to the shadows. She often uses her appearance as a way to garner intel, but also let everyone in the room know that she's both of interest, and a concern.
Character's Mental Description: Growing up as the daughter of a pirate has taught Takara the ways of being a criminal. One must always conduct business with a sharp mind and remain one step ahead of their enemy. This is something that has stuck with her throughout her entire life. She is cunning and calculative. Takara holds herself with confidence and rules her gang with a fair, yet decisive hand. She's not afraid to show authority when necessary, but also understands that for every take, there must also be a give or the scales of balance tend to tip outside of your favor. She sees the world in the ways of deals and karma. She makes it her moral code to never harm those that are innocent; only stealing from or dealing out punishments to those that are the worst of the worst. Murder has never been an interest to her, but in her line of business, killings are sometimes inevitable. In those instances, she tries to ensure that the families of those caught in the crossfire are well taken care of should they be innocent of the crimes befallen to the family member. Takara hides behind many facades, her inner persona often mimicking that of a snake. It can be difficult for one to truly read or understand her true intentions at any given time. She often weaves words together in ways that can come across as seductive yet cryptic when she's not using them for sharp sarcastic quips. Over time she has grown accustomed to using her Gang name instead of her real name, primarily to hide her identity, but also out of habit.
History:
Growing up the daughter of a sea captain was difficult. From a young age, Takara was expected to pull her own weight as soon as she was able. Part of maintaining a well oiled crew was to maintain a well oiled ship. Her mother knew that. She had sailed the seas around Suna for years. Despite occasionally partaking in reputable business, her mother was notorious for pillaging other ships that crossed their paths or making a less than reputable trade in exchange for certain "cargo" to go missing, only to end up in their possession. Takara was trained in the arts of pirating and diplomacy, as both were needed to maintain the disposition of a good captain. One day, it was her mother's dream that she would take over the family "business" so to speak. However, Takara always wondered how her mother managed to stay off the radar of those that wanted to bring her in, or how she was always able to get out of almost any situation without even so much as having to raise her trusty cutlass.

One afternoon, when Takara was old enough to formulate the coherent questions she had wanted to ask, she entered her mother's quarters and sat down with her. She asked all the questions that had been boggling away in her mind over the years of watching her mother work. Questions like how her mother was so efficient, and what would be expected of her when she was older, and how she maintained the loyalty of her crew, who lived and who died, when was there a need for diplomacy versus the need for instigation and action. Her mother had taken it all in, listening to the fiery, passion filled curiosity of her child. Eventually she responded by placing a hand on her shoulder, slowing her down enough to respond to each inquiry in kind.

The Mienai clan used to be part of a much larger Yamanaka clan that once resided in Tea Country, however, over the years, their smaller clan grew to use their abilities as a way to prosper economic elevation. Yamanakas were masters of the mental prism, illusion, and poisons. It gave them a one up when dealing with other members of society, especially in the art of persuasion. The Mienai clain grew into a generation of thieves one way or another that developed their own unique techniques and methodology to acquire that which they desired. It was heavily frowned upon by other Yamanakas that resided in their community, and they were banned from practicing their gifts in such a way as it was seen as manipulative and dishonest. However, that did not stop them, and they were forced to pursue a life outside of the community. In order to pass on their traditions, each parent was to pass on the skills they had learned to their child, the most common being from mother to daughter. In the Mienai clan, the daughters were often prioritized over sons. It was not that males were undesirable, it was that most Mienai males did not seem to acquire the ability to master many of the techniques and would often fall to the status of a petty thief. The survival of their clan and traditions relief heavily on their ability to navigate situations with a skillful mind and a well trained hand. As such, when a daughter was born, her training would be an inevitability.

Takara's mother had decided the a life on the seas was best fit for her. Her mother before her preferred the ways of thieving via horseback and bank robberies, choosing a more outlaw type approach. As such, her mother was training to acquire things in much the same way, but she utilized those knowledge and skills to create a lifestyle on a sea faring vessel with her own loyal crew. Takara would likely develop her own style in much the same way, but the teachings would always come back into play. Even at a young age, she had already learned much from her mother about performing sleight of hand or just "convincing" the crew to help her sneak candies through genjutsu tactics. Takara's mother had refused to yet teach her more lethal techniques until she was old enough to understand the consequences that sometimes came with using them. While their genjutsu and poisons were potent, at times it was best to do the most with nothing and see how far one got. Another priority was that despite their many tactical skills, the Mienai clan were not born with physical strength nearly as developed as their mental one. They had dexterity and poise, sure, but they would likely lose a physical fight. A crew, filled with many talents, would best support them. Teamwork made organizing larger scale jobs easier, and they grew to be a sort of family in a way. It also provided a sort of security that alone, none of the band of misfits would have. Lean and rely on others, and see how well they return the favor.

As much as Takara's mother wanted to teach her these things, it was hard for her to turn a blind eye to the morality of it all as some had. Her mother valued life and took no pleasure in taking it when she had to. Should blood need to be spilled, it would be honored in some other way to balance the scales of Karma. By maintaining balance, it often allowed her the credibility she needed to maintain operations. Sure, she knew she was on the radar of some of Wind Countries authorities, but if she killed the leader of a rebel crew, and took all their money, but made a sizable donation to the orphanages around Suna, many would often allow her to continue. Not only was she taking out miscreants, she was also ensuring the prosperity of Suna's upcoming generation. It was only when innocents got involved that things got messy. It's bound to happen in this line of work, but she aimed to not make that her prerogative. Takara took this to heart, understanding the delicate balance of their profession.

After that day, Takara grew into a fine sea Captain of her own. Eventually came the day when her mother expressed her desire to retire somewhere. Her mother had spent much of her lifetime committing acts of crime, but also ensuring that she still put good into the world. She could not say whether or not she was viewed as a good person, for she never really aimed to be, but she could hope that when some heard her name, it was not always spoken with disdain. The crew she had grown with had aged with her, sporting the wear and tear as much as her mother. They had plenty of riches squirreled away to ensure a comfortable life. Her mother left her with a large sum of money to get her own career started, allowing her to use her training as she pleased. She also left her the deed to her ship, which was perhaps one of the only possessions that was legally acquired.

Takara spent the next few years doing as she had always done, hiring a small crew to help her maintain the ship. She didn't mind this life, but things just didn't feel the same without her mother. One evening, while the ship was docked in port, Takara had found herself sitting in a sleazy bar, surrounded by crooks that had far less moral virtue than she did. Still, their business was their business and a girl has to be able to get her hands on the dirtiest martini she could find. She heard an explosion in the distance, running outside the bar just in time to see two bandits running from a pair of ANBU, carrying satchels of money. In the distance was a large smoking hole that was now the remnants of the wall to a bank, the safe swinging wide open from inside. Takara approached the wall, heading inside. People were so distracted by trying to catch the people who actually committed the crimes that she easily slipped in using her stealth training. Inside the vault were tons of gold and silver bars, bags and chests filled with money. All ripe for the picking. Of course, this wasn't her operation, but that didn't stop her from pocketing a few things for herself. And just like that, a spark was lit. This was likely just petty theft around these parts. The two that had ran by her hardly looked like professionals. Imagine what more could be accomplished in these parts. Still, operating inside a village, or even around one, would likely get her thrown in jail faster than she could blink, smooth talking or not. She'd have to work on that. In the meantime, she would need to get established.

It took some years getting a proper establishment as her headquarters. She managed to make one in an old casino on the far side of the red light district. The atmosphere tended to lure in interesting figures, often of which were tending to look for a good time. Nobody would blink at the establishment of a casino. She had heard of another one being in operation somewhere else, but as this was more of a front for back room business and less about actually making money, she doubted that she need worry about competition while she maintained wealth to keep it going. The business end of the casino was always clean, but her dealings in the back were less so. Luckily, only those allowed into those meetings need worry about them. The general public was none the wiser, beyond the occasional dispute that happened when someone couldn't pay off their debts.

She was in her late 20s before she had actually earned a name for herself, and prominent enough territory claim to be considered on the radar of the village. She had a handful of loyal crew members at this point, and they had started going by the name "Legends of Mythos". Perhaps it was a bit corny, but it left a feeling of power and mystery that Takara liked. Though, operating within Suna was difficult. Out on the open seas, you hardly came across the same person twice unless they were a business connection. When she conducted in a place that was more permanent such as this one, it became crucial to hide true identities. As her claim within the territory grew, Takara was often referred to as a "snake". She thinks it started when she managed to swindle some new territory and added riches from a man who went by Uzu. Still, it wasn't her fault she had been dealt a good hand in that "friendly" game of poker. Her beauty combined with her sharp tongue and precision tactics left people feeling like they were being constricted by her presence until she had them right where she wanted them. It was true though to a degree. Those born from the true yamanaka lineage could delve deep into the recesses of another's mind, finding even the most hidden of secrets if they pried them out of them. When meditating, often Takara would confront a deep part of herself, one that resembled a woman, whose body and hair was made of snakes. Though her upper body and face still mostly resembled a beautiful woman with deep emerald glowing eyes, and viper like fangs that flashed when she smiled. Takara never knew who this woman was, but she always felt apart of her. When she was finally able to establish communication with her, she discovered that the being before her was simply an extension of her consciousness, formed as a depiction of her desires, her strengths, and her companionship. It was a raw power, bolstered by her genjutsu arts that allowed for her to tap into this identity that had been crafted by her inner psyche. When she was connected to this part of herself, her eyes would flash the same emerald green instead of their normal vibrant blue. She could practically feel the realities of the world bend around her, the illusions she crafted becoming more tangible than those. It was as if by connecting more with her inner self and learning all the components of her power was she able to strengthen their presence within reality. At time it even seemed like when someone became ensnared in one of her more potent genjutsus, that they would turn to stone. Realistically it was more like their limbs being weighed down and impossible to move, but mentally, they would see that limb becoming encased and cracked. Sometimes, when she was manipulating these realities, they would say that they could see her 'other self' much more clearly. A true monster. It only added to the reference that she was an absolute snake of a woman. From that moment onward, Takara started referring to herself as "Medusa".

She couldn't stay out of the ANBU's gaze forever though. On one of her crew's first big heists she had gotten caught by a pair of ANBU trying to stop them. They had no real "proof" that she was involved. After all, she wasn't the one responsible for carrying the loot out. Still, her reputation was starting to precede her. They speculated she was involved one way or another and planned to get a conviction. It only took a little flash of a smile and a tiny bit of manipulation for her to give them the slip. She knew that next time it may not have been so easy to get away though. She needed to come up with some kind of arrangement somehow, something to help her. Remembering what her mother had told her all those years ago about Karma and the scales of balance, she was able to craft an idea that she thinks the village would be highly invested in. The human trafficking and drug dealing circuits were some of the largest problems that the ANBU and the village were suffering from. She wasn't interested in such decrepit forms of crime. She despised anyone that tried to get her or members of her crew involved with that or place blame where there was no reason to. She managed to snag a formal meeting with the Kage at the time, a man by the name of Katsuo. She did not know much of the man, nor if he would even be willing to strike a deal with someone who dealt primarily in Underworld criminal offenses, but perhaps she could make a convincing enough argument. She wasn't interested in pulling one over on the top authority to do it either, no, this called for more elegant forms of diplomacy.

Stepping into the meeting, Takara had drafted a small contract, one that was not very long, but outlined enough of her intent in exchange for what she wanted, even going so far as to allow bargaining room or adjustments. She gave her pitch to the man, who seemed against the idea at first, but there still seemed to be some intrigue. The deal was simple, she would help shut down the drug and human trafficking rings, so long as she was allowed to conduct some less than pleasant business with those that had partaken in criminal acts. She made it clear that her primary targets were not innocent lives, but rather those that took joy in causing harm or cheating others for their gain. While one might call her a hypocrite, business between those who have both committed wrongdoings tended to blur the lines. In either instance, if ANBU took matters into their own hands, they would be clean of this, and nothing bad would reflect on the village. They would have full right to charge her or her crew with any crime committed outside of those that involved other crime syndicates. It took some convincing, and a lot of negotiation but eventually the two were able to come to an agreement. She would haul in those involved in human trafficking and drug rings, or give anonymous tips when her business allowed her access to it, there would be minimal casualties regardless of the conduct of said business, and her casino business must remain entirely legitimate to those that simply came in to gamble. She would also be expected to mobilize her crew and any of those she could sway in the underground crime rings in the event that Suna needed them for militant support. A simple enough deal, and it allowed her a bit more freedom. She plays by the rules, she can continue to handle her business without the concern of being hauled in every other day for questioning. With the contract signed, Takara tipped her hat to the man and thanked him for his time, noting that should he need to call on her, she would make it a priority to see him. They were not friends, nor likely would they ever be, for this was a business exchange, and yet Takara could see he was respectable and as such, there was some admiration for seeing more than just a petty thief at his doorstep trying to find a way to loophole the system in her favor. He was a man that could see the potential greater good in the slums that nobody tended to notice.

With things seemingly going to run much smoother, Takara planned to turn things around more in her favor. She had already accumulated a great deal of wealth, for both her and her crew, and her casino business was thriving in the red light district. She had made numerous enemies, but few seemed to threaten her when they were in her presence, and those that did would swiftly discover their mistake. She took more fun in toying with them than anything. Many thought her lack of ruthless displays meant that she could be easily taken advantage of, but only those that had heard rumors or been on the receiving end of her mental prisons knew better. She wondered just how far she could take this, and hoped that one day she could live to become one of the most successful members that the Mienai clan had ever seen.
