Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The slumming and other illicit activities had not done much to provide in the way of money. Money was tight and Jiro still needed a way to get food and shelter so he decided to take a mission. The one he had was relatively simple, at least on paper. His mission was an E-Rank errand-running task. One Nakamura Junko had taken ill and needed someone to run errands for her as well as take care of some of her household chores.

This'll be easy! I'll finish this with no problems and be on my way!

It was a win-win situation for the shinobi in his mind. He would take care of some old hag and then be on his way with his pockets a little more heavy. It would be amazing. So wearing a pair of black pants and his usual jacket with a plain black shirt underneath it to hide his scars and tattoos for once, he set out. He stared at the address he had been given and made his way to the gates, showing his papers for the mission to the guards who, pessimistically, let him in. He could already hear the whispers of 'Heathen' as he walked away.

Walking to the address, he opened the door as the instructions had said. The room was brightly lit and there were flowers everywhere. All kinds of flowers in various stages of bloom were throughout the living room he was in. The soft aroma relaxed him, but that would not last long as he heard a grating voice from the bedroom.

"Who's there?" The voice was high-pitched, but sounded breathy.

The blonde made his way to the bedroom to find an elderly woman laying in the bed. She looked sickly and pale. He walked closer and sat on the chair by her bed, looking at her with round, blue eyes. "I'm Jiro, the Shinobi who's gonna be runnin' errands for ya," he said cheerfully.

"Jiro..." A small grin plastered over Junko's lips. "You look like a girl, Jiro-Chan."

He narrowed his eyes and sighed. This was gonna be a long day... Maybe next time, he should take babysitting or pet walking. Anything but running errands for an old lady again. Hell, Red Lights was better than this already, but he just forced a smile.

"Hello, Junko-Sama," he said with a polite bow, remembering his manners and biting his tongue so hard he could taste the sweet, metallic of his own blood. "What would you like me to do today?"

The woman looked thoughtful for a moment. She motioned for Jiro to pick up the stationary on her nightstand, which he did. He also picked up the writing implement that had been placed there as well. This would take a while as the woman seemed to be taking her time with thinking about what groceries she needed. At this rate, he would be there until late into the night.

It would have been easier to kill the woman and take her money, but the last thing he needed was ANBU on him. The thought crossed his mind but he could hear a voice in the back of his head telling him that he would be of no use if he was dead or in jail. Jiro knew, then, that he was going to have to put on his facade of sanity and at least attempt to be a good person. So he took the list of everything she said. What made it even more confusing was she specifically stated that he needed to get certain items from certain shops for "quality reasons." He did not get what that meant, but it was not his money to spend so he should not care too much.

Once he finished with the list, Junk beckoned him closer. He moved closer. "Yes, Junko-San?" he asked.

The elderly woman slid a pouch of Yen to him to be able to pay for the groceries. "When you come back, I have some errands around the house for you to do, Jiro-Chan," she croaked. "And don't forget to pick up my medicine!" With that, she sent him on his way.

He looked at the list from the first shop and wandered through the crowded streets, looking for the shop. This was unlike anything he had ever seen and he knew exactly where he wanted to be once he got the money. It was large and clean and different from anything he had ever seen before. He looked around, wide-eyed, until he found the shop he was looking for. He walked in, hearing the bell clang. He grabbed a basket and looked through aisle after aisle. He picked out the juices she wanted, along with the eggs, fruit and other produce she had written on the list for this store. Once he finished picking out the items, he waited in line to purchase them.

Once he paid, he made his way out of the shop, holding his bag and making his way to the next shop. He glanced around as he walked in. It looked like some sort of greenhouse of sorts. He looked at the list and went up to the clerk. "I need fertilizer and some..." He mangled the pronunciation of the seeds he needed, but the clerk seemed to understand exactly what he meant.

The clerk came back with the fertilizer and the pouch of seeds. Slipping the seeds in his pocket and holding onto the bag of fertilizer, he was soon on his way after paying the clerk. Only one more shop to go to and that was to get the medicine for the old lady. By now, he was sweating. It was unbelievable hot and he sighed softly as he sought refuge inside the shop that sold what she needed.

He handed the clerk there the list he had been given. The clerk smiled at him before turning away to rummage through the medicine to find the one for Junko. "You're the Shinobi they assigned to the task then?" she asked.

"Huh?" Jiro had not been paying attention to anything the girl had been saying. "Oh. Yeah...I am!"

The girl smiled again. It annoyed him. Was she making fun of him? He bristled slightly, keeping himself calm. He did not want to on the Bingo Books. He needed money and to train more, become stronger. But oh, how he wanted to slit her throat, play with her blood for a little bit. That would not happen though so he just waited patiently, shifting from foot to foot slightly, almost rocking from side to side.

"Here you go!" The girl slid the medicine to him and he put it in his pouch before handing her the money and making his way out of the shop without another word. He did not trust himself to say anything because his swirl of thoughts was a twisted maze of sick, murderous thoughts.

He was soon back on the practically gilded streets and making his way back to Junko's residence. It was almost night. Just as he thought, the errands had taken him a couple hours. Jiro sighed softly as he made the long way back to the house to give her the groceries and begin the chores he would be assigned. Once he got to the house, he opened the door and put the groceries on the counter.

"Jiro-Chan..." He winced as he heard that grating voice but he made his way to the old lady's bedroom.

"Yes, Junko-San?" he asked, trying to keep the sigh of annoyance from invading his tone.

"Did you get everything?"

"Yes."

She positively beamed at him. The motion skewed her already aged and weather-beaten face even more than it already was. "I need all that put away, girl. And then..."

"I'm not a girl!" Jiro said a bit more sharply than he had intended. Not that it seemed to prevent the woman from caring. Instead, Junko merely laughed weakly before having a violent coughing fit.

Jiro quickly left the room and filled a cup with water before going back to the room and handing it to her, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. The last thing I need is this old hag to die during my mission... He watched her drink the water slowly, soothing her as she leaned back, looking weaker than before. A pang of what could have been pity flickered through him for a brief moment. He felt bad for the woman. The best thing for her would be to put her out of her suffering. Although that was not his choice. Not now.

She continued where she left off once she caught her breath. "Bring me my medicine and then make my dinner. I also need you to water my plants. The empty pot is for the seeds you bought. And put a bit of fertilizer on it. You can make something for yourself as well."

The Shinobi rolled his eyes and walked out of the room. He placed the groceries away. They were in the right spot, but they were not neccesarily organized. He was never one for neatness. Jiro tended to lose interest in organization rather quick. The produce and juices were placed randomly through the shelves in the refrigerator. The non-perishables were thrown into the cabinets. Well, at least they had been put in the right places.

The only things that had not been put away were some leeks, bok choy, mushrooms and some chicken, which he began to cook into a soup. It was one of the only things that he knew how to make. He cut up the vegetables and chicken almost carelessly. He did not fear getting cut and he may have nicked himself once or twice. Not that he paid too much attention to the blood or the pain.

Once the soup was done, he scooped some of it into a bowl and took out a vial of Junko's medicine, placing that on the side. He put them on a tray, along with some juice and went to her room, carefully placing the tray in front of Junko as she sat up. She smiled a little as she took her medicine with the juice then took a bite of the soup.

"It tastes good, Jiro-Chan," she finally said with a sincere smile.

He did not bother to correct her that time. "I have to finish the plants," he told her, leaving the room. He found a watering can and filled it halfway with water. He watered the plants and then planted the seeds he had been told to. Jiro had done everything he had been told and then he sat down and had his own soup at the kitchen table. It was the best thing he had eaten in days.

When he finished, he washed his bowl and put it back in the cabinet after drying it. He also cleaned up his mess and cleaned the dishes as well. Soon, he was back in Junko's room, taking the empty bowl and cup and washing that as well. Once he finished all his tasks, he made his way back to the woman's room. "What else would you like me to do?"

"You're done. Go get some sleep."

He nodded and bowed to her, a bit grateful for being released. It was shockingly not as late as he thought it would be. And then he left, closing and locking the door behind him as he made his way out of the beautiful section he was in and back to the darkness that he knew so well and was comfortable in. One day... he thought.
