Name: Shinrya Miki
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Sex: Female
Rank: Student
General Description: A little tall and thin for her age at 165cm (5'4"), Miki's build is a little more athletic than her normally bookish lifestyle might suggest. Her straight dark hair usually falling in messes from atop her head, almost raven-dark in color, and reaching nearly to her butt. Well-brushed, if badly styled, Miki sometimes lashes her hair back with a band to form a ponytail.
Miki dislikes the sun and outdoors, and that shows a bit in her features - she's very pale, her crimson eyes bearing a pale, intelligent light within them. With thin eyebrows and a heart-shaped face, she has very thin lips - when she shows them, at least.
You see, Miki likes long, baggy clothing, generally with hoods. And she likes wearing the collars of her zippered jackets up so high it covers the lower half of her face - or, at least her lips, generally. Thin and athletic, she prefers simple-colored clothing, like cream-colored things when she or dark colors to match her hair. And wait - is that something moving beneath her jacket?
It might be a bit strange, but Miki always tends to carry a snake around with her, coiled around her arm or torso. They aren't magical snakes, just the local variety, and rumor has it that she has more squirreled away in her room. And the snakes have left their mark on her as well. On her left hand and forearm, there's two sets of twin holes, long scarred over - old snakebite wounds. As such, Miki generally has a snake sort of smell around her, which she sometimes tries to cover by carrying crushed flower petals inside a little bell she has attached to her belt, the bell inscribed with the kanji and crest of her family.
Personality: Miki is a quiet, thoughtful sort of person, introverted for the most part, and preferring the company of her animals or books (and sometimes her brother). But she has a certain intense focus that she can apply to tasks, whether or not that be studying, or practicing a new technique. It might be a mistake to think she lacks confidence - as she just dislikes direct confrontation or conflict, preferring indirect methods of getting things done - as the bullies that bothered her when she was a child found out. She isn't very close with her father, and one might get the impression that she has very short patience with him - and anger at her mother. Not that she shows those sorts of emotions very much, preferring to be pleasant and a little subdued when talking to others.
And Miki is generally a good person, as well. Now, she doesn't really mind things like sneaking or thievery - or... uh... hurting people that she personally feels deserves it. If she's bored with something or someone, she might pay less attention to it, so really basic missions and things she has a high chance of getting bored with, and maybe even wandering off. But with that said, challenging tasks really interest her, and she treats them with the same intensity described above.
History:
Miki always felt as though she was well off. Growing up under the guidance of her father, Shinrya Hanshiro, and her mother, Shinrya Aimi, she was the youngest of her siblings. As such, Hanshiro often doted on her, often calling her his little jewel. And for a while there, she felt spoiled. Strong willed at first, loud and always speaking her mind, and a little bit on the forceful and tomboyish side, Miki started out a bit like her father, at first.
Which gave her mother no small amount of headaches. Always getting injured and hurt by exploring things she shouldn't, or doing things that other people expressedly told her not to do, Miki was always doing her own thing, laughing and smiling all the while.
That changed a bit, when she was about four years old. When playing out in the field one day, Miki had found a serpent, and... deciding to tease it with a stick, it eventually lashed out and bit her. One of the problems was, this particular species of serpent was very terribly poisonous, especially to children. One of the children who was playing with her ran to tell her older brother, and by the time Sei got Miki back to the medic-nin in the village, she was already pale and gasping for breath.
It was a miracle that she pulled through, the medic-nin said. She had a ninety percent chance of dying from the bite. And indeed, the snakebite left its mark on her. After she woke up four weeks later, much to the relief of her family, she was a changed child. No longer loud and 'annoying' (as some might have called her), she was thoughtful, quiet - having switched from being an extroverted loud young woman to someone who preferred to stay indoors. Who preferred to study.
And had a newfound fascination with snakes. Instead of becoming frightened by them, as most in her situation would probably do, she embraced them - learning how to catch them in the field, and bring them back into her room to study them. Over time, the days she spent indoors - and outside at night, began to help her grow paler and paler by the day. And while she was forbidden by her father to keep poisonous snakes around the home, she did keep a few non-poisonous species in her room. One in particular, a (kinda fat) green snake can often be seen around her anymore.
She named him 'Hebimaru', and can often be found talking to him.
But this 'new' Miki also began having problems at home. You see, she wasn't allowed to bring poisonous snakes into the home. So when her father found a snake of the very same species that had bitten her as a child, he killed it right away, and Miki still blames him for doing so.
And when her mother stole her brother's eye, and fled the village - she seemed to retreat further into herself a bit, believing she had no one in her family to trust anymore, really. So when the time came for her to try out as a genin - she leapt on it. Anything to get her out of her home.
